Update 7/10/20. Plexus Slim is billed as an “affordable weight management product” that boasts “no ill side effects” based on “extensive clinical research.” Impressive, but does PlexusSlim work or is it a scam? And does it really have no side effects? I was tipped off to Plexus Slim by one of the readers of this website. After looking at its ingredients, I wanted to write a review of Plexus Slim because of the words used to describe the product and because Plexus Slim seemed to have ingredients that I have never heard of before. Let's see what we can discover about this weight loss drink. Also read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +) and Plexus Boost, Plexus ProBio5 and Plexus Hunger Control after you read this, for additional information.
Update: The formula for Plexus Slim was changed a bit since this review was written so also read the review of the new plexus slim formula.
Who Makes Plexus Slim?
According to the Better Business Bureau, the company that makes Plexus Slim – Plexus Worldwide Inc. – was started in 2005 in Arizona. The address of the company is 7440 E. Karen Dr. #400, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.
Update. PlexusWorldWide.com, the company website, now lists this corporate address: 15649 N. Greenway Hayden Loop Scottsdale, AZ 85260. Googling this address shows a large building that says “Plexus Slim” on the outside. That's good.

Update. The Better Business Bureau now lists this address for the company: 9145 E Pima Center Pkwy Scottsdale, AZ 85258-4627
The BBB gives Plexus Slim a rating of “A+” See the BBB file for updates and other information.
To buy Plexus Slim it looks like you either have to buy it from the company or through a PlexusSlim distributor. They call Plexus Slim distributors “Ambassadors“. On the Plexus Slim website, they have a calendar of Plexus Slim events.
These events serve not only to sell Plexus Slim but also to recruit new Ambassadors. Plexus Slim has a multi-level marketing (MLM) aspect to it.
I have no problem with MLM. If the product is reputable, MLM allows people to make an income which can be significant.
Plexus Slim Nutrition Information
In an effort to keep this review up to date, here are the ingredients in Plexus Slim as they appeared in 2016. According to the label shown on the product website, each packet of Plexus Slim has the following nutrition information and ingredients:
Ingredient | Amount Per Serving | Percent Daily Value |
---|---|---|
Calories | 10 calories | |
Total Carbohydrdate | 3 grams | 1% DV |
Chromium Polynicotinate | 200 micrograms | 167% DV |
Plexus Slim Blend (composed of the following) | 530 mg | N/A |
Garcinia Cambogia Fruit Extract | ||
Green Coffee Bean Extract | ||
Alpha Lipoic Acid |
In the table above, N/A means no daily value established.
Each of the ingredients will be summarized below. I will leave in the summaries of the ingredients present in the original plexus slim formula too to help others doing their own research.
See the review of the new plexus slim formula too.
Plexus Slim Ingredients
Polydextrose
This is a type of soluble fiber. In theory, this might help weight loss since it has no calories and is a type of fiber. Polydextrose might cause gas and bloating.
Citric Acid
In some products, citric acid is used as a preservative and to enhance flavor. While it naturally occurs in citrus fruits, its use in foods/ supplements may be from natural or synthetic means.
Beet Root
If Plexus Slim uses the entire beetroot, the fiber content of the beetroot might help foster some weight loss because it adds bulk to the stomach contents. That said, I can't locate any evidence that beetroot helps people lose weight. The product label states the beetroot is to give the product color. Beets do have a red color. Beetroot probably contributes to the pink color of the product.
Beets and beetroot juice have gotten attention from the scientific community because of their ability to raise nitric oxide, a compound that can relax blood vessels, allowing blood to more easily travel through the body. See my review of SuperBeets for more on this topic.
Grape Skin Extract
Grape skin contains phytonutrients such as proanthocyanidins and proanthocyanidins which act as antioxidants. While this is very good, does grape skin extract help people lose weight? Other than having some fiber (which might act as a laxative) I can't find any proof that it does.
Update. I'm told Plexus Slim no longer contains grape skin extract
Lo Han Extract
The scientific name for this ingredient is Siraitia grosvenorii. This is also called “lou han guo” and “monk fruit.” By either name, it's often used as a sweetener. This ingredient, like steveia below, is likely added for flavoring.
Stevia
This is a sweetener. Some supplement companies may call it by another name -“rebaudioside A.”
Stevia is added to many low-calorie foods. In theory, using low calorie (or no-calorie) sweeteners might help weight loss but I'm not sure if this is the answer. There are MANY low-calorie foods and beverages on the US market, yet Americans are not slimmer than they were, say, in the 1980s.
Natural Flavors
They don't tell us what these natural flavors are. To be fair, most companies don't. They don't have to under the law. Regardless, I doubt any of them play a role in weight loss.
Green Coffee Bean
This is also called Chlorogenic Acid. One study published in 2010 noted that chlorogenic acid helped weight loss and increased fat burning when in rats that were fed a high-fat diet (37% of calories from fat).
This is interesting even though it's a rat study. Another rat study also noted that mulberries (which also contain chlorogenic acid) helped the weight loss. But was it the chlorogenic acid – or all the other stuff mulberries?
In one small study 16 overweight people were given either a placebo or different amounts of green coffee extract (which contains chlorogenic acid) at either 700 mg or 1050 mg day for 6 weeks (each person was given each treatment for 6 weeks).

People getting the green coffee extract (both dosage amounts) were shown to have significant reductions in body weight, body mass and percent body fat compared to placebo. The type of green coffee extract used in this study was supplied by Applied Food Sciences Inc.
Retracted
It sounds great BUT, the study has been “retracted.” This means it should not be considered as evidence due to errors with how the study was performed. In the words of the authors, the study was retracted because the authors could not “assure the validity of the data.” Click here to read the retraction.
See the Green Bean Coffee Review for more information.
See the weight loss supplement scam review.
Rosmarinic Acid
This is a plant chemical found in many herbs, including rosemary. This is probably where Rosmarinic Acid gets its name from. Rosmarinic acid has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I was unable to find any studies showing that Rosmarinic Acid helps weight loss in humans or animals.
Hydroxycinnamic Acid
This compound is an antioxidant but whether or not it contributes to weight loss needs further study.
Garcinia Cambogia
This was originally called “Citrin K” when I first reviewed Plexus Slim. Garcinia cambogia is found in MANY weight loss supplements because of some research that it might reduce appetite and help weight loss. Right now, I think all anyone can say is maybe it works or maybe it doesn't work.
In this study, 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia did not help people lose weight. I mention this because if this study is correct, then it might take more than 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia if it's going to work. The entire proprietary blend in Plexus Slim adds up to 530 mg. While Garcinia Cambogia is the first ingredient listed – which presumably means it makes up the most of the blend – how much that equates to, I cannot say.
See the Garcinia Cambogia review
Also, read the review of supplements linked to liver failure.
Alpha-lipoic Acid
This is an antioxidant and it helps it turn carbs into energy. It can also help regenerate other antioxidants, which is pretty snazzy.
There are a few studies of alpha-lipoic acid and weight loss. In one study, alpha-lipoic acid was randomly given to 360 obese people for 20 weeks. Half got a placebo and half got alpha-lipoic acid (either 1200 mg/day or 1800 mg per day). Those getting alpha-lipoic acid lost more weight than those who got the placebo. Basically, people lose about 2% of their body mass.
In another study, 1127 overweight people were given 800 mg of alpha-lipoic acid a day for 4 months. This study noted that alpha-lipoic acid, at the dosage given, helped people lose about 8% of their body weight over 4 months.
So if you were 200 pounds, alpha lipoic acid might help you lose about 200 x .08 = 16 pounds. That is a significant amount in my book.
One possible problem with this study though was that it doesn't appear that there was a placebo group to compare the weight loss too. I was also unable to determine (because I only read the summary of the study) if people combined alpha-lipoic acid with eating fewer calories (I think they might have ).
Alpha-lipoic acid is the last ingredient listed in the proprietary blend. As such, it likely makes up the least of the 530 mg total.
Oxypregnane Steroidal Glycoside
This is a pretty fancy name but you have heard of this stuff before. Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside – is just a fancy way of saying Hoodia! Here is a study that proves that both names mean the same thing.
I think they call it Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside because they are trying to make the product sound different and special. In reality, it's just hoodia Gordonii.
The other fancy name for hoodia is P57AS3 – you have probably seen this listed in other supplements as “P57“.
I've already reviewed hoodia and weight loss. Other supplements that I've reviewed previously that contain hoodia include the
For at least 10 years, hoodia Gordonii has been in more weight loss supplements than you can shake a stick at – but there is no good proof that hoodia supplements help people lose weight.
Study. Researchers gave hoodia or a placebo to 50 overweight people for 2 weeks. The people in the study were allowed to eat as much as they wanted from a menu provided by the researchers. Results: hoodia did not cause any weight loss.
While no serious side effects were reported, researchers did note that people who got hoodia had higher blood pressures and heart rates compared to people who got the placebo. Hoodia also seems to cause elevations in bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase. What caused these changes I do not know.
Update. Plexus slim no longer contains hoodia. See my review on the New Plexus Slim Formula for more info on how it has changed.
Chromium Polynicotinate
Plexus slim contains a type of chromium they call “amino nicotinate”. This is fancy talk for “chromium nicotinate”. (it is now called “chromium polynicotinate on the label).
You may have heard Dr. Oz talk about chromium polynicotinate on TV. I reviewed what Dr Oz had to say about this form of chromium and I am guessing that this is why Plexus Slim includes chromium nicotinate over the sometimes more popular, chromium picolinate.
Chromium may help lower blood sugar levels but as for its effects on weight loss, I am highly skeptical. For more on chromium, see my reviews of chromium weight loss research and chromium polynicotinate.
Blood Sugar Lowering Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients might reduce blood sugar:
- Alpha-lipoic acid
- Chromium nicotinate (now called chromium polynicotinate)
Fiber Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients all might add fiber to Plexus Slim:
- Polydextrose
- Grape skin (no longer in plexus slim) See my review of the new PS formula.
- Hoodia (maybe. no longer in Plexus Slim)
How Much Does Plexus Slim Cost?
One of the slogans for Plexus Slim is “At last, an affordable weight management product.” I guess that depends on how you define “affordable”. On the Plexus Slim website, they have different prices depending on whether you want to buy it just once or be billed each month automatically.
If you want to buy Plexus Slim one time only, its $84.95. If you want to be billed automatically at the 15th of each month, Plexus Slim is $79.95/ month.
Is Plexus Slim OK When Breast-Feeding?
Some women have wondered if they can take Plexus Slim while they are breastfeeding? That's not something I would recommend because if any of the ingredients in Plexus Slim pass into breast milk, then their baby will be getting those ingredients too.
I don't know for sure if any of the ingredients do get absorbed into breast milk, so I do recommend that women take the ingredients in Plexus Slim to their doctor to see if they can get a better answer.
How Much Caffeine?
The Plexus Slim Nutrition label states that it has less than 2% of naturally occurring caffeine. My guess is that the caffeine comes from the green coffee bean extract because this statement is listed next to the green coffee bean ingredient on the label. I'm not sure how much 2% natural caffeine equals.
Plexus Slim and ADHD
Since writing this review I've heard that this product may be marketed to help Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). A search on Google reveals several testimonials from people saying that it helps. I became curious and searched for “Plexus ADHD research.” I searched Google for this phrase and I also searched the National Library of Medicine too.
I saw no clinical studies on this topic. Therefore, whether it Plexus helps ADHD or not is unknown as far as I can tell. Nobody appears to have undertaken the chore of taking this stuff into the lab and actually tried to really see if it helps or not.
The same thing also seems to be true for bipolar disorder and depression. I cannot find any evidence Plexus Slim directly helps either of these conditions either.
Having said that, lack of evidence doesn't necessarily mean something does not work. Rather, it just means that it seems that, other than testimonials (from people most of us don't know), there doesn't seem to be any good proof for it yet.
How To Contact Plexus Slim
PlexusWorldWide lists this contact phone number: 480-998-3490 which people can call 6 AM-6 PM (PST) Monday -Friday and 9 AM-2 PM (PST) on Saturday.
How To Return Plexus Slim
Plexus Slim products come with a 60-day money-back guarantee. For those who purchased from Plexus Ambassadors, contact that person for details on how to return the product, or call the company itself at 480-998-3490.
Does Plexus Slim Have Any Side Effects?
On the Q and A page of the Plexus Slim website (question 7) where it's asked: “Will Plexus Slim interfere or react with any medications or other supplements?” the makers say: ” No. Extensive clinical research has demonstrated no ill side effects with any medications or other supplements.”
Where is all the “extensive clinical research” on Plexus Slim? As far as I can tell, Plexus Slim has NEVER been tested in published studies to see if it interacts with any medication or health condition.
The only study I've seen on Plexus Slim is a summary of a study they show on their website. This is a study from 2008 where they gave the product to 8 people with type II diabetes. Yes, improvements were seen in blood sugar, body weight and other things, but this is not a published, peer reviewed study. As such, there is a lot we are not told about how this study was conducted. It may be the best study in the world, but if we can't see how it was conducted, then it can't be duplicated by other scientists.
That said, in healthy people, I think Plexus Slim (the pink drink product) is safe. Below are some theoretical side effects based on its ingredients.
Grape skin. Some components of grape skin might interfere with medications such as Coumadin (a blood thinner). I'm not aware of any human evidence of this, but because blood thinners can intact with many things, its best to talk to a doctor about this. Update. grape skin is no longer in plexus slim
Chlorogenic acid. This compound might raise homocysteine levels in humans. Homocysteine is a somewhat controversial molecule because some feel it might be linked to heart disease.
See my review of chlorogenic acid for more info.
Citrin K/ Garcinia cambogia. There is some controversial evidence that Garcinia Cambogia may be linked to liver problems. Personally, I'm not yet convinced it does this. For more info on this see my review of garcinia Cambogia.
Alpha-lipoic acid. This ingredient appears to lower blood sugar. Because of this, alpha-lipoic acid might interfere with insulin and other diabetes medications. Alpha-lipoic acid seems to reduce thyroid hormone levels. This can be a problem for people who take Levothyroxin for hypothyroidism (low thyroid).
Hoodia. As I reported in my book on supplements hoodia Gordonii seems to share some chemical similarity to a class of heart drugs called cardiac glycosides. In fact, if you Google “Hoodia and cardiac glycosides.” I don’t know the clinical significance of this. That said, if you have heart or blood pressure issues please see your cardiologist before using any hoodia supplement, just to be safe.
Chromium may lower blood sugar levels. While this can be a good thing, it also means chromium might interact with blood-sugar-lowering medications. This might – in theory – make blood sugar levels to too low.
As a general, blanket statement, I would be cautious if you have any problems with your heart, blood pressure, kidneys, liver, mental disorders, diabetes or digestive problems. I would not recommend Plexus Slim if you had bariatric surgery either. To their credit, the makers of Plexus Slim do say to see your doctor first if you are pregnant. I agree with this.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator
Update: The Accelerator formula has changed significantly and the product is now called Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +). Do read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus for additional information on the new product.
This is another product sold on the Plexus Slim website. The word “accelerator” is a tip-off that this product is a stimulant.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator contains trace minerals, calcium, and magnesium from seaweed (both are useless for weight loss) and vitamin B6 (useless for weight loss). The accelerator also has a “proprietary blend” of:
- Dark Chocolate – won't help weight loss, unless it has caffeine
- Natural Caffeine – natural or not, it's caffeine!
- Green Tea Extract – probably has caffeine or EGCG
- Vanadium Chelate. This is the fancy name for Vanadium. It won't help weight loss.
- B-Phenylethylamine HCl – might act as a neuro-chemical. Avoid if you take antidepressants.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator also has an ingredient called GeranaX. GeranaX is a reference to geranium oil. Geranium oil is controversial in some circles because it is thought by some to be a natural source of a stimulant called Dimethylamylamineor “DMAA. ” It's scientific name is 1,3 Dimethylamylamine and its also called Methylhexaneamine.
The name “GeranaX” is a made-up word. In other words, the name GeranaX holds no scientific meaning.
Geranium has been the subject by scrutiny by the military, whose research finds that geranium does not contain DMAA. Oddly, the supplement 411 website still lists “geranium” as an alternative name for DMAA in its listings. Currently, it is controversial if geranium is a source of DMAA or not.
As of July 2013, the Australian government warned people about the Plexus Slim Accelerator because they say it had DMAA. This link goes to the Australian government website that discusses the Plexus Slim Accelerator and DMAA.
- In April of 2013, the FDA issued a warning letter about DMAA.
- Here is a New York Times article on DMAA for more information.
The ingredient DMAA seems to act like ephedra or bitter orange (synephrine) which are potent stimulants. As such, it may raise blood pressure and heart rate to dangerous levels. Here is a case report of a 21-year-old man who suffered a stroke after taking 2 DMAA pills.
This does not mean plexus slim will do this. It would depend on whether DMAA really is in geranium and also which part of the plant was used (root, stems ect).
Di methy amyl amine “looks” like amphetamines (“speed”). This may be why question 6 of the Plexus Slim Q and A page mentions that this ingredient may cause a positive result on a drug test for amphetamines. Here is a study showing that dimethylamylamine causes false positive drug tests for amphetamines.
Plexus Slim Bio-Cleanse
This is a laxative. Always remember, the word “cleanse” means laxative. The Plexus Slim Bio Cleanse supplement lives up to its laxative name because it contains magnesium, which is indeed a laxative. Remember “Milk of Magnesia.” Either way, laxatives don't cause any weight loss other than mostly water (and of course, poo). The Plexus Slim website lists 2 prices for this product – $29.95 or $39.95 -both of which are too pricey for me.
Plexus Boost
Here is my review of Plexus Boost. I cover a lot of information in this review and I also compare it to the ingredients in Accelerator Plus as well.
Plexus Slim Fast Relief
The Fast Relief product appears to be a pain relief formula that exists in both a cream and capsule form. One of the ingredients in Fast Relief is Lyprinol. This compound comes from the green-lipped mussel, hence the slogan “Full Body Relief, From the Sea-Naturally.” You may know this product by its other name – as Omega XL which is advertised on TV with Larry King.
For more information, see the review of Omega XL.
Will Plexus Slim Work?
Honestly, I'm not if it works because Plexus Slim – itself- has no published proof. If you read the comments below, you'll see some people do say it's helped them lose weight. If it works, is it because of the unique blend of ingredients in Plexus Slim or is it because of just a few key ingredients alone?
Here are Plexus Supplements on Amazon
As promised, here is my review of the new Plexus Accelerator Plus supplement . Its significantly different than the older formula. here is the link http://supplementclarity.com/plexus-slim-accelerator-plus-review-ingredients-side-effects/
SO it would seem like all of the posts are focusing on the business side of things! WHY?! WHO THE HECK CARES!!! EVERY business idea has a risk involved and it is the choice of that person to take the risk or not. I and I think most readers of this article would benefit more if there was discussion on side affects or dare I say someone from Plexus giving VALID proof.
I have a friend who has lost weight using it. I have considered it but even this article is still filled with speculation as to the side affects, and if we govern our eating habits on speculation we must then grow our OWN vegetables, kill our own meat/chicken/fish, and never drink coffee.. LOL (last one was for the joke affect).
Joe, Print this if you want., but I consider the issue closed after this post.
RJames
Np body said anything about you being immoral. PS may be an ok product, but the way it is distributed base on my experience is not all together moral, and this is from my experience, and the experience of people a lot smarter than you ,or me. Has nothing to do with making money, and wanting to better yourself, but it simply has to do with HOW you make your money, riding the backs of people that are most certain to lose money. Proof, I have given proof all over this site, and have given some pretty good information on PS. You need to research this, and quit listening to people who just want to separate you from your wallet, and train you to do the same thing to other people.
Good example is this: A bank robber goes into a bank and robs a bank, obviously, not a good thing. Then, he decides he wants to give some of the money he stole from the bank to charity, which is a good thing, but does not excuse the fact he stole the money. Get the point! Did I call you a thief, no, just my perception based experience. Is this moral, depends on your perception of morality.
Here’s some advice based on my extensive experience in what you consider moral. Are there moral people in MLM, of course , but the few successful people I know in MLM, lacked in moral character, Doesn’t matter what I think, most people have their own definition of morality. Question is, What is yours? Very hard for anyone to be successful in MLM, but most difficult for truly honest people who play by the rules.
To be able to succeed in PS, or any other MLM company to have first of all be able to “deceive” yourself , then be able to maintain a certain level of “deception”, and lastly be able to continue to “deceive” other people. Most experts consider this “theft by deception”. Is this moral?
It is obvious, we are not on the same side of the fence on this issue, and I think the issue is established by both parties, and ended.
Maria
Respectfully being an Ambassador, what is being done at your level to prevent others from selling the new PS, and the PSA+ (Plexusslim Accelerator+) off E-Bay, and other internet outlets at prices I know must be below wholesale? Did not want to link because the link may seem to commercialized, and is a no-no with Joe. I witness one price for both products at $139.99, and another for both at an unbelievable $70.00.
I can understand why someone involves in the business opportunity would want to pay a higher price, but if I were a “preferred” customer I would definitely buy my product from E-bay. If I were still an Ambassador, I would really stand up to the company on this issue. It really hurts those Ambassadors that hope to be successful in servicing their retail customers.
Interested in your thoughts, and if my thinking is right here.
Oh, and observed a bottle of the new PSA+ selling for $14.00.
I’m not sure why someone would sell something on Ebay for less than they paid for it. Sounds like some type of scam. I would suspect they charged it on a credit card that they don’t plan on paying off, or it’s not an authentic product, or they aren’t going to send the purchaser anything at all. Plexus regularly investigates reports of people selling the products on Ebay, and when they track it back to an ambassador, they will cancel their participation. They regularly request records from ambassadors attempt to keep this from happening.
Also, wasn’t able to respond above, but we are not claiming that Plexus Slim has been reformulated, the Accelerator was completely reformulated, and that is all that Plexus has claimed.
R James, that’s really interesting because several PS ambassadors have told me the ingredients changed. It’s the reason why I wrote another review on PS.
I think that may be due to the name changes on some of the Slim ingredients as well as the grape skin extract being removed. In addition, several products have been reformulated, including the Accelerator, and the Pain Relief Products.
R. James
Your point is interesting, that’s the same question I asked myself. Why should. someone sell a product for less than what they paid for it, unless we don’t know for a fact what they paid for it. There were a lot of reasons in my experience in the real retail world that this would happen, and, the main one being just trying to unload a product, But, strange in that both products, PS, and the PSA+ just reformulated, and on the market.
Hopefully, and you agree that PS is NOT doing a very good job enforcing their rule on selling on the internet in particular. In my opinion, a rule, law, or regulation that is not enforced, becomes nothing but words on a piece of paper.
PS knows this is happening, the big question is why they CONTINUE to let it happen.
What is also interesting in your post is you state PS only changed the formulation on the PSA+.. Would you be so kind as to show us there is no difference in the formulations.
Thanks, James.
Pete,
Once again, it appears you are deliberately “misunderstanding”, or insinuating things that you have no evidence of in an attempt to mislead others.
First, I do NOT agree with you that Plexus is not doing a very good job of enforcement. I think anyone with a brain at all would agree that with tens of thousands of distributors, it would be next to impossible to monitor all internet postings placed by either those distributors and/or their customers. Why don’t you try to track down a few of them, since you have everything all figured out? Second, regulation is complicated by the fact that the sellers on Ebay and Amazon hide behind other names or no names at all. Also, the majority of the sellers on these sites appear to be selling the products for more than the amount a retail customer could purchase them for directly from an ambassador’s site.
Finally, you’ve surely already read Joe’s new review on Plexus Slim. He’s already answered that question. Here’s his summary in case you missed it.
Summary: changes to new Plexus Slim Formula
•Chromium is the first ingredient listed
•We are told how much chromium is in the new formula
•Grape skin extract is removed
•Same ingredients. New names
Now, where did you see that Plexus has been promoting the Slim as reformulated?
RJames, for what its worth, several PS ambassadors have said to me that PS was reformulated. Even thought it doesn’t appear to be major changes, it seems that several think it has changed significantly.
RJames
Your statement, “That I am deliberately “misunderstanding”, or insinuating things that you have no evidence of in an attempt to mislead others,” just gave me another definition of the business you are involved in. Thank you! Read it carefully, folks.
A company never gets to big to enforce their policies and procedures, especially when it may affect the livelihood of those representing that company. That is similar to a “lion” eating their own “cubs”. It should be PS’s utmost priority. And, it should be your responsibility to your “downline”.
I would be very surprised, because of recruiting getting in the way, it you have ever even mentioned PS’s policies and procedures, which warns about wrongful use of the internet, etc. Good for PS, and reason to take away your distributorship, but just words on paper. How many people do you know that have been let go because of this situation. Bet, none.
This example happens everyday in the business world: For some reason a company’s projection of sales are not as expected. I go to you and ask if I can buy 100,000 units of product, and I will pay $50.00 for each unit. That’s $5,000,000 dollars, which is actually about 25% of PS total revenue. I take to my warehouse and I sell the product for $70.00 a unit= $7,000,000. The company just made $5,000,000, and I just made $2,000,000. You think anyone gives a “crap” as to who buys the product, and where it is going. Hardly. It’s about “money”, my friend, and “survival”. Who is to say the company that purchased the product did not put bogus people on line to purchase it.. You said yourself, this may be happening.
Oh, anytime you change just 1mg. of a product, it is considered “reformulated”. From the standpoint of calling PS a new product, it probably would not be a good idea at this point in time from a marketing perspective. Many would consider it a new product.
As far as me doing something about the situation. Simply, not my job, nor responsibility, but should be yours as a distributor, and most definitely PS. As I once witnessed, all distributors have an obligation to there “downline”.
WOW, you definitely have an ax to grind here. In this little note you have accused Plexus of deceptive practices and me of being a money grubbing, self-centered person with no regard to my downline. All of this with no proof whatsoever other than your active imagination.
You don’t know the least thing about me, or probably anything else you speak of. I am a very moral person with a good work ethic. I was taught by the best. My father once returned $10,000 to a bank teller who had miscounted his payroll withdrawal. I’ve never been overpaid that much, but I’ve returned smaller overpayments many times.
In my business, I not only work hard to keep myself as educated as possible about my business, including keeping updated on compliance issues, I work hard to make sure those in my downline are as well. I’ve read my contracts, and go over them with each person I sign up. I currently have a personal relationship with each of my downline and most of my direct customers. That may change as time goes on and I get past 1000 in my downline, but will still do my best to continue to see that each of my ambassadors is as educated as possible.
I will pray for you.
Ok I think we can all take a deep breath. I’m sure nobody means to insult anyone here.
I was wondering if someone could post a link that is related to the research done on this product. I like to do some homework before taking anything. Thank you in advance.
Audra, there is no published peer reviewed research on Plexus Slim. Their website does discuss a clinical study of 8 people where people lose weight and had lowered blood sugar. This clinical trial does not appear to be peer reviewed or publiehsed in any medical/science journal. Because of the lack of peer review on the product, I reviewed the weight loss research on its ingredients.
That said PS has a new formula. Here is my review on the new formula.
In that review I also discussed the clinical study on PS which is also on the PS website. Hope that helps
Joe
How do you want us to respond when. personally challenged by posters like Randy, and Maria? Do you just ignore the challenge, and let them have the floor without any sort of rebuttal. Wrong about the meds statement, but sometimes a little humor doesn’t hurt, just misdirected. I understand about the subject matter, but when someone like Randy directly refers to one of my post, am I not obligated to respond.
Randy, initiated the latest conversation. I will stay on subject, unless YOU need me to respond otherwise. Believe it, or not, I am more interested in the science. You have allowed me to express my knowledge of MLM, and how it pertains to PS, and I appreciate that. Science, it is!
Pete, yes if you are challenged by others you owe it to yourself and others to respond. I know Randy initiated the lasted conversation. I would have responded also if I were singled out too.
Respond away Pete. Apparently you did not perform well as an Ambassador and I happen to be doubling my income month after month. No need to be ugly because you failed at something we are thriving at. The only comment I had a problem with is you saying Randy is off his meds. That’s not funny. It was a childish statement and you should be ashamed. But I’m sure you’re not. Joe on the other hand at least doesn’t resort to name calling. It’s called being an adult. When you make comments like that, no one takes you seriously anyway.
Maria, why don’t you talk about something constructive, and on subject. But, to answer your post with as much class as I can:. Actually, and I can’t prove this , but I had more people in my downline at PS then you probably even have acquaintances with. I could no longer be involved in taking money from my friends, and family, to support my lifestyle. It’s called Multi-Level Marketing, AS IT IS PERFORMED TODAY. I could not longer operate under the “false”, and “deceptive” practices of MLM, and live with myself. It enticed me to educate myself on the subject, and allowed me to look at both sides of the fence. You need to do the same thing, or shut up.
Maria, look yourself in the mirror, and you will see, and hopefully understand my remarks, and a reflection of why I feel the way I do about the issue..
Now, if you are capable, let’s talk about the products, that PS has to offer. Some are pretty good, and deserve notice. You and Randy talk nothing but uneducated, and obviously uninformed trash, with no “documentation” backing anything either of you say.
And, coming from someone that called the author of this site “uninformed” can’t be that intelligent, and should be thankful you are not banned. But, that is who Joe Cannon is, fair, and even will allow your “stupid” opinions.
Sorry, Joe, couldn’t help myself.
I feel bad for you. You are sooo angry. Let it go Pete. Let it go. I think Joe is great. That’s between Joe & myself. As far as the products, I’ve had much success using them & sharing them with others. I will continue to do so. They are amazing products that are truly helping many people who had just given up. Not only is weight being lost but more importantly it’s helping people regain confidence and self esteem. It’s helping them to make healthy food choices and helping them to be able to exercise. 😉
Maria
What do you think about Joe’s review of the NEW PS. I personally find it interesting that the only real change, as Joe puts it, is the grape skin being excluded. Other than that, it appears to have the same ingredients as before, with PS calling them something else. You would think one of the ambassadors like yourself, would answer Joe’s request as to why the grape skin was taken out of PS.
It’s pretty obvious that PS is trying to fool people in believing PS is a new product, and reformulated, but, in reality it is not. Could it be that the market for PS is becoming saturated? One of the marketing strategies used to combat saturation, is to change the formation of a particular product. Per Joe’s review, PS has changed nothing, (grape skin) and in my opinion attempting to pull the wool over the public’s eye.
Waiting for an intelligent reply, Maria.
Geranium extract was removed from the accelerator. Now, we are able to serve our Australian customers! So awesome!
Maria, thanks for the heads up why it was removed. I’m almost done my review of the new Accelerator + supplement. Should be up in the near future.
I too have friends that are ambassador of Plexus Slim and I was about to buy some however when I started asking questions about it no one could answer them especially about my medications I’m on Maria!!
A lot of you don’t know your product even the tiger ups! One of the medications is Topomax which is giving to me for nerve damage but is also given for weight loss and when I asked my doctor under NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE YOU to mix the two drugs with any kind of diet products!
Which being an ambassador you should know what Medications NOT to take with this product! Also I have a lesion on my liver and my Dr also confirmed that Citrin K,(Glarcina Cambogia), P57, Hoodia all cause kidney and liver damage not immediately but over time!
So while you may not see the adverse affects now you could see them later, as well as the ones Joe mentions!! So don’t go thinking this product is GOD!! Its NOT. exercising and eating nutritionally is going to get you the best results and the healthier one plus Joe is correct. Pfizer did put out an article about Hoodia!
You are so right, Stephanie. I took Plexus Slim thinking all natural was all safe. Wrong! I had adverse reactions with my blood pressure and bloating to the point of pain, dizziness, etc. My Ambassador told me I must have taken it wrong! You put the pink stuff in water and drink it so what could possibly go wrong? Except the ingredients.
My doctor said “natural does not mean safe.” The Ambassadors should not tell people it is the be all end all to all their health issues. Any common sense person knows better. ANYONE on any medications should check with their doctors and most of ours look at the ingredients and because of time and that IS not their expertise, most of ours have said not to take it.
Taking a mixture of so many different ingredients is not all that good. One or more might affect one person but not everyone. Kind of like a roulette wheel with you health.
I took Plexus slim and the accelerator and really had no results. The only thing I had was horrible stomach pains at the end of the day. The person I bought it from told me I wasn’t drinking enough water. Trust me I was drinking more than enough!!
Once I stopped taking it the stomach pains got better but didn’t go away for about a week or so. I guess it just isn’t for me…
For some people including myself eating right and exercise doesn’t do much. I did it for six months and had very little in the way of results. The reason being that i have diabetes and my medications were countering what I was doing. Plexus is designed to correct underlying causes for not losing.
As for your medications and our knowledge of our product. We know our product very well. We’re using the products ourselves. I tell all potential customers that if they are on medications then they will need to check with their doctor before using Plexus and that is how it should be. People on medications shouldn’t need to be told to check with their doctor but, I tell them anyway to make sure they, like you, don’t come back on me and try to pass the buck.
If you went to the grocery store and picked up any diet product, are you going to have someone from the company right there telling you whether or not you can take it with your medication? The answer is a resounding NO. Chances are you’ll go to your doctor first. We’ve heard it said thousands of times in our lives that we should always check with our doctors before starting any diet or exercise program.
There are thousands of medications pushed on us by the Big Pharma with the aid of our doctors. And new ones are introduced each year. No one can possibly know all of them and what they can and can’t be taken with. Expecting anyone to know that is unreasonable. As for the liver damage side effect… I’d like to know where you found this information and at what levels is the liver and kidneys affected because according to the FDA there is a high amount considered safe for human consumption. That study can be found here…..

If you want to pump this poison into your system so be it. I’d rather take my chances with Plexus. As for you Jolene, you are not an authority on whether Plexus is effective or ineffective. You broke the cardinal rule of natural supplement usage. You didn’t allow your body the time to adjust to it. You quit at the first symptom of change because you were uncomfortable. If you would have let your body adjust, you may have seen some positive changes. So, the fault is yours not the product.
Sorry this is so long, Joe. I had much to point out.
Kelly, no worries. About all those side effects listed for the drug, I’d point out that we know all those side effects because the drug has been tested so many times. yes some of the side effects pop up after people get their hands on it but a lot of them are known prior to release to the public. Since Plexus Slim has not been clinically tested, aside from what people are saying here and elsewhere, we dont know what the side effects would be. True?
That’s true Joe but, I’m sure extensive research has been done on the ingredients, as I’ve pointed out the FDA study on Citrin K determining it to be safe in a rather large quantity. While there has not been a clinical study on the combination, the testimonials I think are pretty well sound.
Many of the people taking Plexus have had it approved by their doctors. Including the parents giving it to their children to manage ADHD and some Autism symptoms. We have a lot of licensed nurses who are ambassadors and one of my friends’ who is an ambassador is married to a world renowned Physicist and she sought his opinion before she even tried the product herself.
If there was a problem with Plexus then someone with some real influence would be out there fighting to have it banned. As it happens, no one is doing so. There is no more Hoodia in the product. The ingredients are for the most part found in a natural setting all over the world and to my knowledge no one has come forward claiming that Plexus caused some catastrophic illness, disease or disability.
I have come to the conclusion that the people who disagree with Plexus the most are those who do not really understand how it works. You said once before that Weight loss facilitates the improvement of blood glucose readings and blood pressure readings. Well, I’ve been giving you updates where the most improvement I’ve seen has come more from those readings and less from the number on my scale.
Plexus markets their product as a Weight loss product because that is what people understand and the side effect of what Plexus actual does is weight loss. Hundreds of thousands of people are not going to lie about something working for them. Those who do not succeed however; will blame the product before they blame themselves.
Kelly, testimonials cant be weighted as heavily as clinical studies. if they were then Im sure that drug that was mentioned as having a lot of negative side effects also have a lot of positive testimonials as well. It sounds like the Plexus Slim company is making some pretty good money (from a previous post I saw) so why not invest some money in a study (the original study often touted is no longer valid since the formula has changed)
supplements are very difficult to ban due to the DSHEA law. as proof of this, it took a very long time to ban ephedra from supplements and thats after people died.
You mentioned that there was no more hoodia in PS in the context of side effects. Other distributors have said that hoodia was removed because it was an endangered plant however the context you used it makes me think some may feel hoodia may have been linked to side effects. yes?
I honestly don’t know why hoodia was removed from Plexus. I just know that it was and was pointing out its removal because a previous poster used that ingredient as reason for her previous issues with the product. I also don’t know if they plan to do a clinical study. I personally don’t put much faith in them because they use such a small group in the first place.
I am more willing to trust the tens of thousands who have shared their stories. They are more believable to me. And yes a good number of them are not ambassadors and so they have nothing to gain by giving their testimonies.
Kelly, thanks for that. I first wrote about hoodia and how it might interact with heart drugs in my book so thats why I always wondered why they added it in the first place. It just made me wonder who was in charge of picking the ingredients to be used in PS.
According to what I have found several species of Hoodia are as stated by another poster considered endangered. There are some that aren’t but, they are considered at risk if trade is not controlled. Hoodia can interact with blood pressure medications but so too can the stimulant in the accelerator. That’s why we recommend to our customers who are on blood pressure medication not to use the accelerator. Most of us do put safety first. 🙂
Safety first is always a wise choice 🙂
A real list of Plexus side effects would be great but I doubt they would ever do that. If the FDA ever gets involved with these types of products, they will have to address the good and the not so good of the products. Saying it’s all natural and that means all good is not really correct.
The only “fault” I have in my case was NOT checking with my doctor because when I did he said “No way!” The BP med I’m on reacts to Hoodia (but they called it something else). I noticed Hoodia is not in the new formula so MAYBE something was not right with that ingredient. Maybe?
And the bloating issue was so painful I could not stand it. There was too much fiber ingredients in the product for my system. How long would it might have been before that awful “side effect” went away?
I will take full blame for my ignorance on this matter on not checking with my doctor but Plexus is not the end all be all to everyone’s health issues. Over and out!
Again, I don’t know why the Hoodia was removed. As for your bloating issue.. Painful bloating usually means you have gas or you’re constipated. People get gas from beans and broccoli and they get constipated from too much cheese so, it’s not a mysterious symptom caused only by Plexus.
It would have worked itself out within a few days or you could have worked it out yourself with a probiotic and a laxative. No one is claiming that Plexus is the end all, be all but, it IS helping tens of thousands of people, possibly more, and alleviating all kinds of symptoms. Try as you might but, you can’t argue with the facts. Oh and fyi this is not a cb radio so there’s no need to “sign off” on a post.
Kelly:
Your posts are interesting.
You write:
“If there was a problem with Plexus then someone with some real influence would be out there fighting to have it banned. As it happens, no one is doing so”
That is not true, myself and others have been trying to make a change.
So far, it has been working.
The fact of the matter is that what goes on behind the scenes is not generally shared with the public. Companies will not tell you that they were fined, warned, or given legal notices to change.
They will say they are making changes for improvements, or found a better formula.
A great example can be found by reading the letter the company, PS, issued.
http://www.plexusswag.com
This should open some eyes and raise more questions.
Please tell me, which Aloe Patent does PS use in their X-Factor product?
This should open some eyes and raise more questions.
Maybe Joe needs to make a review on the other PS products.
Randy
And, Dr. OZ. also warned people as to using his name to support their products without his authorization.
We are done, Randy, and I am sure the respectable posters on this site are glad.
I AM Also A Former PS Ambassador. I Agree That Mlm Is A Hard Business To Succeed In. I Enjoy Joe’s Comments. But Pete’s Ignorance And Rudeness Have Made Me LoSE Any Respect I Had For This Site. You Do Not Have To PaY The Autopay To Get Commissions, Never Did. I Truly Doubt Pete’s Claim To Have Ever Been With PS.
There are so many people who are having wonderful success with Plexus, it’s just not a weight loss program. All types of individuals with Fibromyalgia, diabetes, arthritis, MS, and many others are OFF their pain meds as well as losing unwanted pounds. There is nothing like this on the market. Plexus is amazing. I hope you do some more research.
Judy, with all respect, you sound like a plexus ambassador and if you are, that’s fine but if you could not accept the research I showed you (linked to) in my review then I dont know what else I can do. Why dont you show me YOUR research – not testimonials -but hard scientific facts like what I showed you.
Improvements in diabetes and arthritis are likely the result of weight loss rather than a direct effect by plexus slim itself. I’m at a loss for any improvement in MS symptoms at this time.
Again, if you would like to show me your research – not testimonials – I’m happy to listen. BTW, you need to read my review of the the Accelerator + – people are saying its anything BUT amazing.
Doesn’t really matter how much or how little research is done on a drug or supplement. 10-20 years later, after FDA approval, links to illnesses and diseases are found. Do you watch TV and see the millions of FDA approved drugs out there and the side effects they have! It is unbelievable and the list goes on forever. And the research is done by biased drug companies but you’d rather take that??
Rbrb, within the pages of this website I also link to research conducted by universities with no ties to big pharma as well research supported by supplement companies (are they biased?). Are they not good enough for you either?
Judy.
If you take some time to look up the benefits of weight loss, you will see that what you posted are just that, benefits of weight loss.
You must also keep in mind that the company has made changes in many products recently, and that the vast majority of people promoting the company are still showing examples of a product that they no longer carry. False advertising.
If you look up what people are saying and experiencing with these new products, there is a huge difference, with the majority of comments stating the products do not work.
Water, is also a key factor. You may notice that all ambassadors tell people to drink more water. Why not just drink water and save yourself some money.
Rbrb
If I had a choice, I believe I would be more comfortable with a product that has at least some sort of a safety profile approved by the FDA attached to it, than a product like PS, that has absolutely none.
Think about it! I believe most will agree.
Hahahaha yep! I was getting a migraine trying to read all the posts. Took me two days on and off.
Renara, congratulations! You have patience and determination 🙂
After taking the plexus slim with the accelerator, I got severe acid reflux which I had never suffered from before…I stopped taking it all together.
when u say acid reflux is this when the middle of ur abdomenem starts to hurt and and u feel pain there?
Joe
Hope this helps with the ingredients in the new Plexusslim Accelerator +. You may already have, but here is what an official PS website state : plexusworldwide.com/products/accelerator-more-info.html
Thanks Pete!
I have a new Plexus Slim review posted. This review is on the new formula. I compared both old and new formulas. Here is the link http://supplementclarity.com/plexus-slim-new-formula-review/
I thank you for all your research on this product, and the ingredients on which you have shared. I must admit it was a lot to read, however all very interesting; only wish I read yours first. I just spend two days researching this product and the ingredients myself.
Sadly, I have a few friends, now PS Ambassadors, that are selling and trying to recruit. All while not losing anymore than 5-8 lbs, and are over weight by at least 50 lbs.
I have also advised a lot of friends that are interested to do their own research and better yet, speak to their physician if the want to lose weight.
I always said that if there was a miracle diet pill, drink or shake then USA wouldn’t be the worlds largest obese country.
Anyone who wants to see a true weight loss transformation that is so inspirational, Check out: DivaSlimsDown on YouTube, this woman has her weight loss journey for everyone to see.
Eating healthy & exercising is the way to go!!
Thank you again for your research!
Mel, thanks, Im happy I was able to help and yes I know it was a long of info. I usually have a lot to say 🙂
Joe, How did you find out Plexus no longer has Hoodia in it? I’m worried about blood pressure issues.
Joe, I kept reading and found my answer. I’m a lifetime member of Weight Watchers and really don’t believe in this kind of thing but started a weight loss program three weeks ago preparing for an an Alaskan adventure in August. I’ve lost 8.8 lbs. so far so I’m doing OK but not great because at 62 I’ve allowed myself to get beyond what I should have.
I have a cousin who sells Plexus and I wouldn’t even listen to her but yesterday I was approached at church by a woman who had a different angle. Rather than weight loss, it was relief from body pain, etc, etc.
She has had a total knee replacement in the last year and she was crouching up and down to prove her point. I have to say, I was impressed. To be honest, she can really use the money and this is really more about charity than anything else but if I can get some benefit from it, all the better.
I just didn’t want to take something that might drive up my blood pressure. I guess I’ll try it and see how it works. Maybe it’ll relieve my old body of some of its aches and pains.
Connie. I hope it helps. Id love to go to Alaska one day!
Connie, please be very careful with this and check with your doctor. I didn’t because I was naive enough to think “natural was safe” and my doc said it isn’t safe especially if you are on certain drugs.
I am on BP meds and when I took the old version of Plexus Slim for more energy, my blood pressure went way up, I got really bloated and my appetite was suppressed to the point of I did not eat all day and at 10:00pm I got really dizzy and remembered I had not eaten all day! The old formula had Hoodia in it but they did not list is as that on the ingredients.
They gave it the plant name instead and I only found out it was Hoodia when I read Joe’s account of the ingredients. I know that I cannot take anything with Hoodia in it but if they don’t list it as Hoodia then how does one know that.
Even though the new formula may not have Hoodia in it, I’ll go with eat healthy and exercise more. After many e-mails, letters and phone calls, I did get my refund.
Connie, it was something that PS distributors started saying here. That said, in my review of the new PS formula, hoodia was still listed but when I just checked the PS website today, it was nowhere to be seen.
Some have said that hoodia is removed from the PS that is shipped to Canada but I’m not sure.
Replying to:

Hoodia is a plant that is protected globally.
It’s origin must be documented, and their are many rules surrounding this.
http://www.karoohoodia.com/cites.html
Hoodia was removed as PS did not abide by these rules, they were caught. I’m led to believe from various sources that the cost was cheaper to remove it completely.
http://www.plexuswag.com has some information
I decided to place an order. Not because I believe in weight loss products but because I figured, what could it hurt, and it would help my friend. I’m monitoring my blood pressure though. I am a little concerned about the brainwashing they’re doing on my friend though.
She’s stopping her medicine and they’re telling her all kinds of things that only a doctor should tell anyone. But here’s what has really made me mad. Just read what I wrote them after I placed my order: If I had wanted to join the “Preferred Customer” account, I would have chosen the lower price. Instead, at the very end you put a box to the left just as I’m clicking the acceptance button, I see it out of the corner of my eye. Too late. I’ve agreed to have you automatically send me a shipment each month. Fortunately I did see it and read your confirmation very carefully, thus this letter.
If you are that sly, it makes me very suspect of your product already. I hate that kind of business. I’m buying this because I want to help out a friend. I’ve never been one to believe in weight loss products but thought what could it hurt and it could help my friend. I’m pretty disgusted right now though. Remove me from your automatic shipment program immediately. I want to control my own destiny. I certainly don’t want a company who is trying to pull the wool over a bunch of gullible women’s eyes deciding if I need another order.
I’ll keep you posted. I believe my weight loss success will be due to my healthy lifestyle but who knows, maybe I’ll notice some changes in how I feel. We’ll see.
Hoodia, or as Joe states in his review , now known as P57, was first seriously considered by Pfizer Pharmaceutical to bring to market in early 2000. Pfizer believed P57 was too hard to “synthesize” and gave up on it making it available to other vendors. This, and, because of limited supply, and of course lax regulations in the ‘diet supplement” industry opened the door for about 80% of the Hoodia available being contaminated, or counterfeited.
To my understanding companies that provide Hoodia, and there are a few, has to perform the necessary research to prove its purity. It is simply, as Carriesterma states, too expensive for most “diet supplement” companies to handle.
Pfizer, now the largest pharm. company in the US, did not believe that Hoodia was not very effective in weight-loss.
I just thought I would add my experience with Plexus Slim as I think anyone who reads through the review is actually trying to find out about the product. I am not an ambassador and I haven’t been taking the products for very long so I can’t speak to the long term effects. I started out with a 7 day trial of the plexus slim drink and 1 accelerator capsule per day. I found that my appetite was reduced and I didn’t think about food all the time.
I had already been watching what I was eating and trying to reduce my portions for a couple of weeks before I started. I started to feel a little more energetic and found that I was sleeping better. After my week trial was used I thought I would try a 30 day supply of the plexus drink and the accelerator, which includes 2 accelerator per day, so I had about a one week break in between.
I started taking the 30 day supply about 9 days ago and I have had no issues. I’ve lost about 8 pounds so far, I eat when I’m hungry but still watch portion control. For breakfast and lunch I try to choose foods low in fat but honestly I usually eat just about anything for dinner. I have pretty much given up on fast food and I drink A LOT more water. I feel great, I love that I’m losing weight and I just bought a weight machine for my home so I plan to add in some exercise this week.
I need to lose about 30 more pounds to be happy with myself but I feel like I can actually do it this time as I don’t mind putting in the work when I see results like this.
Stephanie
I can appreciate your enthusiasm concerning PS, but before you start bad-mouthing others that disagree with you, especially on the pyramidic issue, let us know WHY you disagree. You are right, not all MLM’s are pyramid schemes, but I can assure you, due to my personal experience with PS as an “ambassador”, it’s marketing design, and operations dictates it to be one..
Right off the bat, and based on the ingredients you listed, two stood out as being “possibly” dangerous to people especially that have health issues, HIGENAMINE, AND HORDEMINE (Accelerator X). I didn’t have to read any farther. I am sure Joe will investigate these ingredients thoroughly.
I had a health issue with Plexus Slim because one of the “natural” ingredients is Hoodia but it is not listed as Hoodia. People on blood pressure meds like me should never take products containing Hoodia as it elevates blood pressure a lot. Also Niacin is something else that should be used with a doctor’s permission as overdose can have some bad effects on the body. As my doctor told me in no uncertain terms, “Just because it SAYS Natural does not mean it’s safe!” Thanks, Pete, for your insights on all of this.
Jackie, sorry that happened to you.
Ooo ouch Pete. I wasn’t bad mouthing anyone – whether they disagree with me or not. In my last paragraph, I just stating that the majority of comments were about MLM companies, when I thought we could get back to talking about the products and the ingredients in them. The point of my entire original comment was not about MLM, but that the article could be updated to reflect the current ingredients in ALL of the Plexus products. And I trust that Joe with research it all thoroughly. That’s it. No ulterior motive. No bashing.
I believe Stephanie is sincere and I appreciate her words. Steph, I emailed you privately today and will wait for your pictures. Thanks for the help 🙂
Since Plexus has been exploding the past few months in popularity, I will ask you to please keep updating this article. Ingredients in Plexus Slim and their new Accelerator+ are different than what your article says. Plus, there are just a few misrepresentations of their other products.
All of the ingredients are listed clearly on the Plexus website for all of the products.
Plexus Slim ingredients: Chromium, Proprietary blend of Chlorogenic Acid (from Green Coffee Caffea arabica Bean) Extract (contains less than 2% natural caffeine), Garcinia cambogia Fruit Extract, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Hoodia gordonii Whole Plant Extract. Other Ingredients: POLYDEXTROSE, CITRIC ACID, NATURAL FLAVORS, BEET (BETA VULGARIS ROOT) EXTRACT (FOR COLOR), STEVIA (STEVIA REBAUDIANA LEAF) EXTRACT, LUO HAN GUO (SIRAITIA GROSVENORII FRUIT) EXTRACT.
Their NEW Accelerator+ (launched beginning of November) contains per two capsules: Niacin (as Niacinamide) 10mg, Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) 15mg, Vitamin B12 (as Methylcobalamin) 250mcg, Folic Acid 200mcg, Calcium (as Calcium Glycinate) 25mg, Chromium (as Chromium Picolinate) 750mcg, Proprietary Blend 475mg – Proprietary Blend contains: Yerba Mate (liex paraguariensis) Leaf Extract, Higenamine, Hordenine, Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) Leaf Extract, 5-HTP (5 Hydroxytryptophane from Griffonia simblicifolia Seed Extract), Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) Leaf Extract.
You don’t HAVE to take the Accelerator along with Plexus Slim, but most people do because they want to lose weight FAST. If you have high blood pressure, heart condition, etc, it says right on their website to talk to your doctor first. (Don’t be stupid, talk to your doctor people!)
To address some of their other products: First of all, please try to get the names right. “Plexus Slim” is ONE product – a powder you pour into water and drink. Plexus Worldwide is the company name. The rest of the products do not have “Plexus Slim” in their names. We don’t want to confuse people.
Plexus Bio-Cleanse is NOT a laxative. It “oxygenates and energizes your body while detoxifying and cleansing wastes, pathogens and plaque in the gastrointestinal tract, colon, arteries, blood, etc.” (directly from the Plexus website.) I’ve taken Plexus Bio-Cleanse, and it does NOT make you run to the bathroom – it just helps keep you regular.
The Plexus Fast Relief system now has ETArol®, a highly purified extract of the New Zealand green lipped mussel (basically a more potent version of Lyprinol). Just wanted to keep you updated.
If you want to add to this article, Plexus has additional products: ProBio5 (a probiotic of course), Plexus X-Factor (a multivitamin and antioxidant supplement with a patented aloe blend, New Zealand Blackcurrant, vitamins, and minerals), Plexus Body Cream (detoxifies and revitalizes, helping to remove age-advancing toxins and impurities from the skin), and Plexus 96 (a protein meal on-the-go).
Also PLEASE don’t advertise that Plexus Slim is available on Amazon. People who are selling Plexus on sites like Amazon and Ebay are not in compliance and in direct violation of their Plexus contract. Besides, most of the time it’s WAY overpriced on those sites anyway and you don’t have the 60 day money back guarantee. To see prices, just go DIRECTLY to plexusslim.com.
I don’t know if people think that these products are created in some mystery, secret lab under the earth somewhere, with mad scientists laughing as they mix random ingredients together?? Of course that’s not true, just google “Dennis Harris MD Plexus”, and he talks about the science of Plexus Slim and why it works.
I also want to address the majority of the comments. Most people who have come across this article are searching the internet for Plexus Slim to find out the truth, to get an honest, unbiased opinion about the PRODUCTS, not to be told that MLM companies are all pyramid schemes and from the devil.
Thanks. 🙂
Stephanie, would you or somebody be willing to send me empty bottles with labels for all of the Plexus Slim products? I would like to see the labels so I can base updates to my review as well review other PS products. I’ve heard the accelerator is being changed and Id write an entire review of just that if I can get a bottle that has all of the ingredients listed.
As for the Bio Cleanse, Im interested in reviewing that too. Generally “cleanse” means laxative so that is why I feel its a laxative. the claims about oxygenating things are vague terms to me.
As for the fast leaf product containing Lyprinol, I have an entire review on the green lipped mussel/lyprinol. See my review of Omega XL for all the research
http://supplementclarity.com/omega-xl-review-lyprinol-arthritis-pain-asthma-pharmalink-greath-healthworks-side-effects-pcso-524/
Notice as you read that review that there is no proof that lyprinol in a cream form helps reduce pain.
Again, if somebody just sends me empty bottles /packages with labels, I’ll start reviews on those products immediately.
Would you accept pictures of the bottles/packages and labels? I would love to help – but honestly, I’m just wary of shipping costs. :/
sure Stephanie if you can email me pictures of everything that will work too. Ill email you privately
Joe, I have empty bottles etc and would happy to send them to you. Just pm an address. Love to help in any way. I like a good informed opinion……well done
Renara, that’s so kind of you thanks! Someone actually recently sent me pictures of the bottles so I can see the ingredients. I’m actually writing a review of the Accelerator + supplement now.
Joe-
I have a question. I have recently started taking PS and accelerator and after reviewing your site I have decided I will no longer be taking the accelerator. I have very weird side effects and it was impossible to find anyone talking about a similar experience. There is literally almost no negative feedback about this product available!
I feel the the plexus drink alone however curbs my appetite enough to promote weight loss in conjunction with healthy eating. Do you see any negative health consequences with just the drink for a relatively healthy person? No major health issues. I am not an ambassador or in away affiliated with the company other than being a new consumer.
Lauren, I’ve never been a fan of the accelerator (I’ve heard they are coming out with a new version soon) and if you read the comments some people have had some strange side effects. if you mentioned what the side effects you experienced were, maybe others could chime in and see if they have had them.
If you read through some of the comments here you will see some negative aspects of Plexus Slim but I doubt you will ever hear them anywhere else. I told my relative who sells Plexus products about this site for information purposes only. She told me she would never read or believe anything negative about Plexus.
I tried the Plexus Slim drink and only after about four days I had to stop. I would go all day without eating and then wonder why I was dizzy and feeling weird in the evening. My stomach bloated up like I was pregnant and at 66 yrs old you sort of don’t want that look. I took GasX and the bloating went away. Then I noticed my blood pressure readings were getting very, very high and I’m on BP meds.
I thought since the product said “all natural ingredients,” it would be safe. Some of the “natural” ingredients affect medications that some people are on especially BP or heart meds. I checked with my doctor and all he said was natural does not mean safe! Everyone’s body chemistry is different so you have to be careful.
My relative said I was the ONLY one she had sold to that had any problems. I sure feel special! Her whole group is having “miraculous” healings and I am happy for them to a point. Yes, they have lost weight and my doc said if someone just loses 10 or 15 lbs it can make a big difference in BP and sugar readings. I hope all goes well for them in the future as they tell me they are making lots of money too.
The accelerator made me extremely tired, like I had taken a sleeping pill, I had a headache, my heart felt like it was beating harder, but my bp was the same as it has always been. I felt like I had to work harder to breathe cause I just didn’t feel like breathing.
I couldn’t motivate myself to get up and do anything. I normally exercise daily, but when taking it I couldn’t. I also got heartburn. With the drink alone I don’t feel that I am anymore energized than when I don’t drink it. I don’t have a decreased appetite.
I drink a lot of water anyway, more than 8 glasses, and I feel dehydrated. I don’t think it’s worth the price. I took it for about 1 1/2 months. I lost about 5 lbs and gained it again after I quit. I was already losing weight before I started taking it, but I thought it would help me.
When I did quit taking it I was able to exercise again and my clothes are starting to fit better again. It is hard to find info about the negative of it. I know a lot of people who are losing weight on it and I’m happy for them. I just couldn’t find out why it did that to me and no one could tell me.
So, I hope it helps to see some of the ways it affects someone else, I just can’t tell you why.
Laura, dont beat yourself up over it. Based on what you said, I wouldn’t take the accelerator either. For what its worth, I see no proof that plexus slim works any better with the Accelerator than without it.
Laura, just curious, were you taking the NEW PLEXUSSLIM ACCELERATOR+, since the former has been removed from the market.
Joe
Respect the fact you are extremely busy, but in time will you give a review of the NEW Accelerator?
Pete, Id like to as well as review the X Factor other supplements I mentioned before. I just would like to see the official list of ingredients.
James
Your statement referring to most people in PS making their money by serving preferred customers in simply not true. That means that the monies made is the result of you selling to your customers on a DIRECT basis. Very few people involved in MLM, as it is performed today, can make a descent income selling direct. The reason being is that the “profit margin” from wholesale to retail is too small. For that reason, and not focusing on recruitment, you are wasting your time and money. PS, and other MLM are set up this way to entice to go the recruitment route because that is where the monies are made.
I challenge you to eliminate recruitment from the equation, and focus on strictly retail sales, and I can almost assure you that you will lose money. A person who can’t make money selling direct realizes real quick that the time and effort spent is not feasible, and is forced to put recruitment ahead of retail sales. BAM! You’ve fallen right into the trap.
Joe
Here is the new formulation for the NEW Plexusslim Accelerator. Information is from a PS website.
http://sherrydalton.wordpress.com/2013/10/28/new-accelerator-to-replace-accelerator-with-plexus-slim/
Pete, thanks, according to that website the main ingredients in “Accelator +” are ingredients are Higenamine, Hordenine, 5-HTP, Hawthorne Extract, Green Tea Extract and Yerba Mate.
‘m surprised by Hawthorn. here is something from webmd on this

Glad you got your money back from PS. In my experience, PS, and other MLM companies will likely hold on to your money as long as they can hoping you and others will give up on the cause. Some people will say, not worth the effort, and hassle to get my money back and let it go. The company knows this.
Let’s say over time 25,000 people did not bother to ask for their refund due to being inconvenience. And, the average refund is $80.00 (about right for PS), that means the company gets to put $1,600,000 in their bank account at yours , and others expense. Pretty profitable little scheme don’t you think. Not referring to all MLM companies, just most that I have observed.
I applaud you for fighting to get your refund, and all, who require a refund should do the same.
Actually I received $84.95 back from Plexus. I would not let that go as that is a lot of money for this “fixed income” lady. I can use the money to buy healthy fresh foods or something more fun than drinking flavored water. I like your posts, Pete, as you have a lot of insights that others do not. So glad I found this site and read all the info. Some of my instincts about the product and MLM kicked in and my instincts proved true.
Here is an interesting article from Roni Weigh. We have all heard the testimonials from people supporting PS, and most are Ambassadors selling it. Based on this article you may want to question them.. Not saying some may not be true, but I feel most are exaggerated, and a bad way to promote PS.

Hey, Pete, I finally got my refund from Plexus. It took phone calls, a letter and some e-mails but I succeeded. I found out I was lied to in the beginning as they said they had “tried” to credit my account but could not. My bank told me no credit has been sent to them at that time. Nice, huh? Funny how it was magically credited now. You told me about the Better Business Bureau and was my next step. Glad THAT is over.

You mentioned that you are a chemist, and was allowed to perform an assay on PS to determine what is in the product. WHAT? I also have experience in this area and know this process is very expensive, and not to be use for your benefit ,or, to waste time and money to find out what is in a “proprietary blend”, generic product such as PS. The only way you can prove this is to show your results of the assay, and we know you are not going to do this.
If you performed this VERY EXPENSIVE assay, you did this on your own, and, if I were your boss and found out about it you would be fired. With my experience, I find this hard to believe.
