Update 7/10/20. Plexus Slim is billed as an “affordable weight management product” that boasts “no ill side effects” based on “extensive clinical research.” Impressive, but does PlexusSlim work or is it a scam? And does it really have no side effects? I was tipped off to Plexus Slim by one of the readers of this website. After looking at its ingredients, I wanted to write a review of Plexus Slim because of the words used to describe the product and because Plexus Slim seemed to have ingredients that I have never heard of before. Let's see what we can discover about this weight loss drink. Also read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +) and Plexus Boost, Plexus ProBio5 and Plexus Hunger Control after you read this, for additional information.
Update: The formula for Plexus Slim was changed a bit since this review was written so also read the review of the new plexus slim formula.
Who Makes Plexus Slim?
According to the Better Business Bureau, the company that makes Plexus Slim – Plexus Worldwide Inc. – was started in 2005 in Arizona. The address of the company is 7440 E. Karen Dr. #400, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.
Update. PlexusWorldWide.com, the company website, now lists this corporate address: 15649 N. Greenway Hayden Loop Scottsdale, AZ 85260. Googling this address shows a large building that says “Plexus Slim” on the outside. That's good.

Update. The Better Business Bureau now lists this address for the company: 9145 E Pima Center Pkwy Scottsdale, AZ 85258-4627
The BBB gives Plexus Slim a rating of “A+” See the BBB file for updates and other information.
To buy Plexus Slim it looks like you either have to buy it from the company or through a PlexusSlim distributor. They call Plexus Slim distributors “Ambassadors“. On the Plexus Slim website, they have a calendar of Plexus Slim events.
These events serve not only to sell Plexus Slim but also to recruit new Ambassadors. Plexus Slim has a multi-level marketing (MLM) aspect to it.
I have no problem with MLM. If the product is reputable, MLM allows people to make an income which can be significant.
Plexus Slim Nutrition Information
In an effort to keep this review up to date, here are the ingredients in Plexus Slim as they appeared in 2016. According to the label shown on the product website, each packet of Plexus Slim has the following nutrition information and ingredients:
Ingredient | Amount Per Serving | Percent Daily Value |
---|---|---|
Calories | 10 calories | |
Total Carbohydrdate | 3 grams | 1% DV |
Chromium Polynicotinate | 200 micrograms | 167% DV |
Plexus Slim Blend (composed of the following) | 530 mg | N/A |
Garcinia Cambogia Fruit Extract | ||
Green Coffee Bean Extract | ||
Alpha Lipoic Acid |
In the table above, N/A means no daily value established.
Each of the ingredients will be summarized below. I will leave in the summaries of the ingredients present in the original plexus slim formula too to help others doing their own research.
See the review of the new plexus slim formula too.
Plexus Slim Ingredients
Polydextrose
This is a type of soluble fiber. In theory, this might help weight loss since it has no calories and is a type of fiber. Polydextrose might cause gas and bloating.
Citric Acid
In some products, citric acid is used as a preservative and to enhance flavor. While it naturally occurs in citrus fruits, its use in foods/ supplements may be from natural or synthetic means.
Beet Root
If Plexus Slim uses the entire beetroot, the fiber content of the beetroot might help foster some weight loss because it adds bulk to the stomach contents. That said, I can't locate any evidence that beetroot helps people lose weight. The product label states the beetroot is to give the product color. Beets do have a red color. Beetroot probably contributes to the pink color of the product.
Beets and beetroot juice have gotten attention from the scientific community because of their ability to raise nitric oxide, a compound that can relax blood vessels, allowing blood to more easily travel through the body. See my review of SuperBeets for more on this topic.
Grape Skin Extract
Grape skin contains phytonutrients such as proanthocyanidins and proanthocyanidins which act as antioxidants. While this is very good, does grape skin extract help people lose weight? Other than having some fiber (which might act as a laxative) I can't find any proof that it does.
Update. I'm told Plexus Slim no longer contains grape skin extract
Lo Han Extract
The scientific name for this ingredient is Siraitia grosvenorii. This is also called “lou han guo” and “monk fruit.” By either name, it's often used as a sweetener. This ingredient, like steveia below, is likely added for flavoring.
Stevia
This is a sweetener. Some supplement companies may call it by another name -“rebaudioside A.”
Stevia is added to many low-calorie foods. In theory, using low calorie (or no-calorie) sweeteners might help weight loss but I'm not sure if this is the answer. There are MANY low-calorie foods and beverages on the US market, yet Americans are not slimmer than they were, say, in the 1980s.
Natural Flavors
They don't tell us what these natural flavors are. To be fair, most companies don't. They don't have to under the law. Regardless, I doubt any of them play a role in weight loss.
Green Coffee Bean
This is also called Chlorogenic Acid. One study published in 2010 noted that chlorogenic acid helped weight loss and increased fat burning when in rats that were fed a high-fat diet (37% of calories from fat).
This is interesting even though it's a rat study. Another rat study also noted that mulberries (which also contain chlorogenic acid) helped the weight loss. But was it the chlorogenic acid – or all the other stuff mulberries?
In one small study 16 overweight people were given either a placebo or different amounts of green coffee extract (which contains chlorogenic acid) at either 700 mg or 1050 mg day for 6 weeks (each person was given each treatment for 6 weeks).

People getting the green coffee extract (both dosage amounts) were shown to have significant reductions in body weight, body mass and percent body fat compared to placebo. The type of green coffee extract used in this study was supplied by Applied Food Sciences Inc.
Retracted
It sounds great BUT, the study has been “retracted.” This means it should not be considered as evidence due to errors with how the study was performed. In the words of the authors, the study was retracted because the authors could not “assure the validity of the data.” Click here to read the retraction.
See the Green Bean Coffee Review for more information.
See the weight loss supplement scam review.
Rosmarinic Acid
This is a plant chemical found in many herbs, including rosemary. This is probably where Rosmarinic Acid gets its name from. Rosmarinic acid has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I was unable to find any studies showing that Rosmarinic Acid helps weight loss in humans or animals.
Hydroxycinnamic Acid
This compound is an antioxidant but whether or not it contributes to weight loss needs further study.
Garcinia Cambogia
This was originally called “Citrin K” when I first reviewed Plexus Slim. Garcinia cambogia is found in MANY weight loss supplements because of some research that it might reduce appetite and help weight loss. Right now, I think all anyone can say is maybe it works or maybe it doesn't work.
In this study, 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia did not help people lose weight. I mention this because if this study is correct, then it might take more than 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia if it's going to work. The entire proprietary blend in Plexus Slim adds up to 530 mg. While Garcinia Cambogia is the first ingredient listed – which presumably means it makes up the most of the blend – how much that equates to, I cannot say.
See the Garcinia Cambogia review
Also, read the review of supplements linked to liver failure.
Alpha-lipoic Acid
This is an antioxidant and it helps it turn carbs into energy. It can also help regenerate other antioxidants, which is pretty snazzy.
There are a few studies of alpha-lipoic acid and weight loss. In one study, alpha-lipoic acid was randomly given to 360 obese people for 20 weeks. Half got a placebo and half got alpha-lipoic acid (either 1200 mg/day or 1800 mg per day). Those getting alpha-lipoic acid lost more weight than those who got the placebo. Basically, people lose about 2% of their body mass.
In another study, 1127 overweight people were given 800 mg of alpha-lipoic acid a day for 4 months. This study noted that alpha-lipoic acid, at the dosage given, helped people lose about 8% of their body weight over 4 months.
So if you were 200 pounds, alpha lipoic acid might help you lose about 200 x .08 = 16 pounds. That is a significant amount in my book.
One possible problem with this study though was that it doesn't appear that there was a placebo group to compare the weight loss too. I was also unable to determine (because I only read the summary of the study) if people combined alpha-lipoic acid with eating fewer calories (I think they might have ).
Alpha-lipoic acid is the last ingredient listed in the proprietary blend. As such, it likely makes up the least of the 530 mg total.
Oxypregnane Steroidal Glycoside
This is a pretty fancy name but you have heard of this stuff before. Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside – is just a fancy way of saying Hoodia! Here is a study that proves that both names mean the same thing.
I think they call it Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside because they are trying to make the product sound different and special. In reality, it's just hoodia Gordonii.
The other fancy name for hoodia is P57AS3 – you have probably seen this listed in other supplements as “P57“.
I've already reviewed hoodia and weight loss. Other supplements that I've reviewed previously that contain hoodia include the
For at least 10 years, hoodia Gordonii has been in more weight loss supplements than you can shake a stick at – but there is no good proof that hoodia supplements help people lose weight.
Study. Researchers gave hoodia or a placebo to 50 overweight people for 2 weeks. The people in the study were allowed to eat as much as they wanted from a menu provided by the researchers. Results: hoodia did not cause any weight loss.
While no serious side effects were reported, researchers did note that people who got hoodia had higher blood pressures and heart rates compared to people who got the placebo. Hoodia also seems to cause elevations in bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase. What caused these changes I do not know.
Update. Plexus slim no longer contains hoodia. See my review on the New Plexus Slim Formula for more info on how it has changed.
Chromium Polynicotinate
Plexus slim contains a type of chromium they call “amino nicotinate”. This is fancy talk for “chromium nicotinate”. (it is now called “chromium polynicotinate on the label).
You may have heard Dr. Oz talk about chromium polynicotinate on TV. I reviewed what Dr Oz had to say about this form of chromium and I am guessing that this is why Plexus Slim includes chromium nicotinate over the sometimes more popular, chromium picolinate.
Chromium may help lower blood sugar levels but as for its effects on weight loss, I am highly skeptical. For more on chromium, see my reviews of chromium weight loss research and chromium polynicotinate.
Blood Sugar Lowering Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients might reduce blood sugar:
- Alpha-lipoic acid
- Chromium nicotinate (now called chromium polynicotinate)
Fiber Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients all might add fiber to Plexus Slim:
- Polydextrose
- Grape skin (no longer in plexus slim) See my review of the new PS formula.
- Hoodia (maybe. no longer in Plexus Slim)
How Much Does Plexus Slim Cost?
One of the slogans for Plexus Slim is “At last, an affordable weight management product.” I guess that depends on how you define “affordable”. On the Plexus Slim website, they have different prices depending on whether you want to buy it just once or be billed each month automatically.
If you want to buy Plexus Slim one time only, its $84.95. If you want to be billed automatically at the 15th of each month, Plexus Slim is $79.95/ month.
Is Plexus Slim OK When Breast-Feeding?
Some women have wondered if they can take Plexus Slim while they are breastfeeding? That's not something I would recommend because if any of the ingredients in Plexus Slim pass into breast milk, then their baby will be getting those ingredients too.
I don't know for sure if any of the ingredients do get absorbed into breast milk, so I do recommend that women take the ingredients in Plexus Slim to their doctor to see if they can get a better answer.
How Much Caffeine?
The Plexus Slim Nutrition label states that it has less than 2% of naturally occurring caffeine. My guess is that the caffeine comes from the green coffee bean extract because this statement is listed next to the green coffee bean ingredient on the label. I'm not sure how much 2% natural caffeine equals.
Plexus Slim and ADHD
Since writing this review I've heard that this product may be marketed to help Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). A search on Google reveals several testimonials from people saying that it helps. I became curious and searched for “Plexus ADHD research.” I searched Google for this phrase and I also searched the National Library of Medicine too.
I saw no clinical studies on this topic. Therefore, whether it Plexus helps ADHD or not is unknown as far as I can tell. Nobody appears to have undertaken the chore of taking this stuff into the lab and actually tried to really see if it helps or not.
The same thing also seems to be true for bipolar disorder and depression. I cannot find any evidence Plexus Slim directly helps either of these conditions either.
Having said that, lack of evidence doesn't necessarily mean something does not work. Rather, it just means that it seems that, other than testimonials (from people most of us don't know), there doesn't seem to be any good proof for it yet.
How To Contact Plexus Slim
PlexusWorldWide lists this contact phone number: 480-998-3490 which people can call 6 AM-6 PM (PST) Monday -Friday and 9 AM-2 PM (PST) on Saturday.
How To Return Plexus Slim
Plexus Slim products come with a 60-day money-back guarantee. For those who purchased from Plexus Ambassadors, contact that person for details on how to return the product, or call the company itself at 480-998-3490.
Does Plexus Slim Have Any Side Effects?
On the Q and A page of the Plexus Slim website (question 7) where it's asked: “Will Plexus Slim interfere or react with any medications or other supplements?” the makers say: ” No. Extensive clinical research has demonstrated no ill side effects with any medications or other supplements.”
Where is all the “extensive clinical research” on Plexus Slim? As far as I can tell, Plexus Slim has NEVER been tested in published studies to see if it interacts with any medication or health condition.
The only study I've seen on Plexus Slim is a summary of a study they show on their website. This is a study from 2008 where they gave the product to 8 people with type II diabetes. Yes, improvements were seen in blood sugar, body weight and other things, but this is not a published, peer reviewed study. As such, there is a lot we are not told about how this study was conducted. It may be the best study in the world, but if we can't see how it was conducted, then it can't be duplicated by other scientists.
That said, in healthy people, I think Plexus Slim (the pink drink product) is safe. Below are some theoretical side effects based on its ingredients.
Grape skin. Some components of grape skin might interfere with medications such as Coumadin (a blood thinner). I'm not aware of any human evidence of this, but because blood thinners can intact with many things, its best to talk to a doctor about this. Update. grape skin is no longer in plexus slim
Chlorogenic acid. This compound might raise homocysteine levels in humans. Homocysteine is a somewhat controversial molecule because some feel it might be linked to heart disease.
See my review of chlorogenic acid for more info.
Citrin K/ Garcinia cambogia. There is some controversial evidence that Garcinia Cambogia may be linked to liver problems. Personally, I'm not yet convinced it does this. For more info on this see my review of garcinia Cambogia.
Alpha-lipoic acid. This ingredient appears to lower blood sugar. Because of this, alpha-lipoic acid might interfere with insulin and other diabetes medications. Alpha-lipoic acid seems to reduce thyroid hormone levels. This can be a problem for people who take Levothyroxin for hypothyroidism (low thyroid).
Hoodia. As I reported in my book on supplements hoodia Gordonii seems to share some chemical similarity to a class of heart drugs called cardiac glycosides. In fact, if you Google “Hoodia and cardiac glycosides.” I don’t know the clinical significance of this. That said, if you have heart or blood pressure issues please see your cardiologist before using any hoodia supplement, just to be safe.
Chromium may lower blood sugar levels. While this can be a good thing, it also means chromium might interact with blood-sugar-lowering medications. This might – in theory – make blood sugar levels to too low.
As a general, blanket statement, I would be cautious if you have any problems with your heart, blood pressure, kidneys, liver, mental disorders, diabetes or digestive problems. I would not recommend Plexus Slim if you had bariatric surgery either. To their credit, the makers of Plexus Slim do say to see your doctor first if you are pregnant. I agree with this.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator
Update: The Accelerator formula has changed significantly and the product is now called Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +). Do read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus for additional information on the new product.
This is another product sold on the Plexus Slim website. The word “accelerator” is a tip-off that this product is a stimulant.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator contains trace minerals, calcium, and magnesium from seaweed (both are useless for weight loss) and vitamin B6 (useless for weight loss). The accelerator also has a “proprietary blend” of:
- Dark Chocolate – won't help weight loss, unless it has caffeine
- Natural Caffeine – natural or not, it's caffeine!
- Green Tea Extract – probably has caffeine or EGCG
- Vanadium Chelate. This is the fancy name for Vanadium. It won't help weight loss.
- B-Phenylethylamine HCl – might act as a neuro-chemical. Avoid if you take antidepressants.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator also has an ingredient called GeranaX. GeranaX is a reference to geranium oil. Geranium oil is controversial in some circles because it is thought by some to be a natural source of a stimulant called Dimethylamylamineor “DMAA. ” It's scientific name is 1,3 Dimethylamylamine and its also called Methylhexaneamine.
The name “GeranaX” is a made-up word. In other words, the name GeranaX holds no scientific meaning.
Geranium has been the subject by scrutiny by the military, whose research finds that geranium does not contain DMAA. Oddly, the supplement 411 website still lists “geranium” as an alternative name for DMAA in its listings. Currently, it is controversial if geranium is a source of DMAA or not.
As of July 2013, the Australian government warned people about the Plexus Slim Accelerator because they say it had DMAA. This link goes to the Australian government website that discusses the Plexus Slim Accelerator and DMAA.
- In April of 2013, the FDA issued a warning letter about DMAA.
- Here is a New York Times article on DMAA for more information.
The ingredient DMAA seems to act like ephedra or bitter orange (synephrine) which are potent stimulants. As such, it may raise blood pressure and heart rate to dangerous levels. Here is a case report of a 21-year-old man who suffered a stroke after taking 2 DMAA pills.
This does not mean plexus slim will do this. It would depend on whether DMAA really is in geranium and also which part of the plant was used (root, stems ect).
Di methy amyl amine “looks” like amphetamines (“speed”). This may be why question 6 of the Plexus Slim Q and A page mentions that this ingredient may cause a positive result on a drug test for amphetamines. Here is a study showing that dimethylamylamine causes false positive drug tests for amphetamines.
Plexus Slim Bio-Cleanse
This is a laxative. Always remember, the word “cleanse” means laxative. The Plexus Slim Bio Cleanse supplement lives up to its laxative name because it contains magnesium, which is indeed a laxative. Remember “Milk of Magnesia.” Either way, laxatives don't cause any weight loss other than mostly water (and of course, poo). The Plexus Slim website lists 2 prices for this product – $29.95 or $39.95 -both of which are too pricey for me.
Plexus Boost
Here is my review of Plexus Boost. I cover a lot of information in this review and I also compare it to the ingredients in Accelerator Plus as well.
Plexus Slim Fast Relief
The Fast Relief product appears to be a pain relief formula that exists in both a cream and capsule form. One of the ingredients in Fast Relief is Lyprinol. This compound comes from the green-lipped mussel, hence the slogan “Full Body Relief, From the Sea-Naturally.” You may know this product by its other name – as Omega XL which is advertised on TV with Larry King.
For more information, see the review of Omega XL.
Will Plexus Slim Work?
Honestly, I'm not if it works because Plexus Slim – itself- has no published proof. If you read the comments below, you'll see some people do say it's helped them lose weight. If it works, is it because of the unique blend of ingredients in Plexus Slim or is it because of just a few key ingredients alone?
Here are Plexus Supplements on Amazon
Joe
Something of interest that I failed to mention concerning the PS study from Sandra’s post. Notice that the ambassador’s last name, Cavanaugh, is the same as the supposed author’s. And the fact the author’s title (computer scientist) has nothing to do with supplements, or weight-loss. Seems to me the ambassador may be using somebody’s title, PHD. TO make the study appear credible.
Confused. If the FDA had evaluated the ingredients in PS, then how come the disclaimer on the packaging, and other ads pertaining to the products states that the product has NOT been evaluated by the FDA. WOW! I thought I had seen it all. There are goods things about MLM, but if this is what is appears to me it is, deception, then that is why it gets such a bad rap.
Pete, I didn’t pick up on that. thanks for the heads up.
I have many joint aches and pain! I was prescribed a pain med & also celebrex. Since taking Plexus pain releif capsules i have cut my prescription meds in half and some days dont even need them!
Angel, Just a thought. have you lost weight? if yes, that might cause less joint pain since there would be less stress on your joints. Either way, happy you hare having good results.
She said she’s on plexus fast relief not slim, it doesn’t make you lose weight it makes you not have joint pain anymore. So no sorry it was the product not weight loss
I have used plexus for over a month and yes I did feel great while on it had a ton of energy and I sleep better also my adult acne cleared up al lot but no weight loss 🙁 I have changed what I eat and hit the gym 4x a week so after seeing great results on friends I decided to give it a try but for the price of this stuff and no major difference in the scale I’ll just stick to eating right and the gym!

Sera, Ive heard the australian gov has had some problems with the acclerator in the past. Dont think I saw this link though. Thanks for the DOD report on DMAA. I will read it.
Thank you for a very interesting article; I do appreciate all of your valuable research- I specifically looked for and NEEDED information, non- “marketing – motivated” feedback; and your impartial, scientific, fact -based review has helped me more than someone who has simply been sold a dream and is now trying to sell it to me… even if their own doctor has said the product is great for them… People who have health issues are out here desperately trying to lose weight and can not take a gamble with their lives based on opinion or pursuit of wealth or a play on semantics!
Someone GAVE the product to me, but before I tried it I wanted to know what it was all about and knew that I couldn’t simply rely on information available on the company’s own website. So again, Thank you for your unbiased assessment and I believe that You are interested in helping people… and You’ve certainly helped me!
Sera, you are very welcome!
Joe, what are your thoughts on Limu???
Krista, several people have asked me about this recently and I will write a review on it in the near future. stay tuned 🙂
I can’t wait to read it. We are new LIMU promoters and have found nothing negative about the product. We’ve done extensive research, but all we find is great info and a business that is really taking off. In fact, we are featured in this month’s edition of Success from Home magazine.
Thanks Erica, if you look up fucoidan in the search box of my site I believe I have covered it in other products already. is fucoidan the only active ingredient in limu ?
The active ingredient is listed as “reconstituted pure Tongan Limu Moui extract of the whole Sphaerotrichia divaricata sea plant” That translates into fucoidan that is better than other fucoidan because of its source and processing.
Erica, thanks for that info! Is Eden Naturals the sole maker of Limu?
I wish. 😉 Eden Naturals is my natural living boutique. I am an independant promoter of LIMU.
Eric, ok I gotcha, thanks for the heads up on that 🙂
Joe
Here is the link referring to Sandra’s post. It’s the old so-called study performed back in 2008. As we had talked about before it isn’t very reputable for a lot of obvious reasons. Only eight patients, is it a blind, double-blind etc. study. Find it interesting the author, Mr. Cavanaugh, is listed as a computer expert, and the post was generated by an ambassador. Would love to know your analysis.plexuslafayette.com/plexus_slim/
Pete, I could not tell if the study had a placebo or was blinded. I will accept that they observed those results but since it does not appear to be peer reviewed/published, I find that odd since they were testing PS in a clinical population. Weight loss alone should reduce blood sugar levels in most people I believe.
Maria
You talk out of both sides of your mouth. Per your Aug. 25th post you stated, that you knew doctors who recommended PS, and wrote “prescriptions” for it. In my experience, doctors are very unlikely to write prescriptions away from the office.
Joe, I enjoy your reviews quite a bit! You neither discount nor endorse products which I admire. You break down ingredients too which is good. I think I read another review you did for skinny fiber. All of these products probably do work to some degree, but so does clean eating and being active. I encourage taking supplements, like CLA, Vitamins, etc but I don’t believe in miracle pills/drinks. Some people knocking you on here need to get a life and do their own research.
Marcy
Marcy, thanks 🙂
Maria
With my limited education, here is one more link I came across in reference to healthcare providers that sell nutritional supplements such as PS out of their offices. Sorry folks, hope I’m not boring you by responding several times to Maria’s posts, just couldn’t help myself. lol http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/2012/05/your-doctor-as-salesman/index.htm
Didn’t say my doctor sells it out of his office. Try again Pete. Lol. Couldn’t help myself. 😉
Reading Maria’s thread just makes not want to try PS even more. LOL. Joe I think you did a great job you were honest with what you found and did not find.
Thank you
Katherine, thank you.
Maria
Attempting to educate myself. Thanks for the advice. LOL
The link provides information from a doctor as to why or why not he would promote any nutritional product like PS. As the article states, most doctors do not have the resources to proper evaluate if a nutritional product is beneficial, or safe for a patient, or anyone else.http://www.acu-cell.com/mlm.html
Maria
I tried PS, and found it to be “Junk”. Amazing to me how you or anyone else involved in MLM, actually believe the “junk” they are saying about the “junk” they are selling, but that does not make it any less “junk”.
Joe, based on my pharm. experience you are right on about the FDA regulations against doctors writing prescriptions for any over-the counter product such as PS.
Maria, like Joe says, list the doctors you claim promote PS. At least give us a definite number.
Found this online…..and a graph….Plexus Slim was formulated to treat type 2 diabetes and was designed to help diabetics lessen their insulin dependency for maintaining proper blood sugar levels.
A study was done in a diabetic clinic in Salt Lake City, Utah, wherein the test subjects had excess weight to varying degrees–one of the key triggers of type 2 diabetes. Within the first week, over half of the group’s blood sugar levels were lowered, and nearly all subjects’ blood sugar levels were lowered after the second week.
The product test results were promising; not only that, but the test subjects got a pleasant surprise: they all lost weight, from just a few pounds to 50 pounds. Within 3-4 weeks, they all shed excess pounds and inches.
Test Results of Plexus Slim on Diabetic Patients The developers knew they had an effective product. The FDA, however, only approves prescription drugs. The FDA does not approve or disapprove dietary supplements. They do review the ingredients to ensure they are safe and unadulterated and take action such as pulling a product or contacting a manufacturer.
You won’t ever find Plexus Slim FDA approved, because they don’t approve dietary supplements. The FDA has reviewed Plexus Slim ingredients and there are no problems with the safety. As a result, the developers decided to market the product, originally a thick, syrupy product, in a powder form as a weight-loss drink soon to be known as “Plexus Slim”.
What better bonus to a supplement than to help balance your blood sugar? The companion product, Accelerator, came out and gave people the ability to further handle their cravings, promoting weight loss without compromising nutrition, and boosting energy.
Sandra,
was the Utah hospital research published? if yes, can you provide the citation so I can see where I can read how the study was done?
The FDA does not approve supplements because that is not in their power to do so. You say the FDA looked at the ingredients in PS and approved them. can you provide me some paper work on this? I’m sure there is paperwork since the FDA, like all gov agencies is all about paperwork
My mother, Babs, has been using PS for a little over a month. She is an insulin dependent diabetic. She also had problems with IBS (treated w/prescription) and depression. Her sugar levels improved so much that she takes 40 less units of insulin a day. She also no longer needs to take IBS Meds as this also improved. Babs’ mood has improved tremendously and she’s shedding weight.
I have Multiple Sclerosis which gives me relentless chronic pain also relentless fatigue – amongst other ailments… I take Xanax (works best for my muscle spasms & psyche), Copaxone injections daily, and Butrans Patch 20 mcg. I was on stronger medications, but I knew that the meds were damaging my already frail body. My goal is to reduce the mg of Xanax I take a day and if I’m lucky less pain meds? 🙂 I don’t pay much attention to lbs. so that doesn’t motivate me into buying.
I was so impressed by the changes I saw in mom that I was “brainwashed” and apparently “mind numbed!” 😛 I only used half a packet and I could feel the benefit almost immediately! I was so impressed that I bought the month’s kit. I put my order in today & I’m very excited!!!
I am 33yr Female – I was diagnosed about 13 years ago – now it seems – I’m a shell of what I once was. Before MS moved in, I was active, athletic, outgoing… you know – I was great! lol Nowadays, not so much… 🙁 From what I felt, the now two times I used it – I see light at the end of the tunnel!
But anything goes when everything’s gone!!!!!
I am not aware of case studies ect. and as I proof read my post; I’m aware that it comes off like a testimonial. As I was reading the threads, I couldn’t hold back what has happened with us!
I don’t know what they cooked up, but it seems to be pretty great!
Jenny, really glad you -and your mom – have been feeling better 🙂
Interesting read! Joe, do you have any idea how and if plexus can effect fibromyalgia pain? Also, can I safely use it in combination with my Ritalin?
Hi Corine, Im not aware of any effect for fibromyalgia by plexus slim. While I dont think PS would interact with ritalan, run the ingredients pas your pharmacist to make sure. There is some very preliminary research on ribose and fibromyalgia. the link is to my review of that research.
I have arthritis and the anti-inflammatory ingredients help immensely. It will help your fibro. They also have other products for pain relief, and as Joe said, please check with your doctor and especially your pharmacist. My mom takes many medications for her rheumatoid arthritis and PS has not interfered with any of them. I know it’s not the same meds as you take, but PS has been tested on thousands of people taking all kinds of meds and it will NOT interfere with any of them. Good luck to you, I hope you use it, it’s a great product.
Christa, If you say PS has helped you and your mom, I’m really happy for you both- really, I am. But, if you can, please tell me where you have read that PS has been “tested on thousands of people taking all kids of meds” and that those results showed that PS “will not interfere with any of then.” Ive never seen this research and the study on type II diabetes only had 8 people in it if I remember, and it doesnt appear to be a published study. I say this in all respect Christa, I just needed to say this.
I just posted a reply to Gail about how PS affected by blood pressure & heart meds. Not in a good way. They almost should insist that anyone taking any type of meds should check with their doctor. I wish I had checked first. I only used 12 packets and it affected my blood pressure and heart rhythm and not in a good way.
The bloating was horrible and painful too. I will make sure this gets into my medical records so my doctor will know that I tried this and how it affected my meds. My ambassador said she and her husband quit their meds because of using this product but I think I would definitely be dead if I did that.
Jackie, Oh…sorry to hear about how PS affected you…That’s why I was so happy to find Joe’s review it told me what I needed to know and was backed up by real research!
Oh geeesh….entirely too much for me….I just want something to help me loose the few lbs I’ve gained after Breast Cancer and was taken off all hormones Then to have my thyroid go out on me….Double wammy! SOOOO….If anyone can suggest something that HAS been researched that can get my life back as I am an actress and need to get me back or bust. And I welcome skepticism 😉 Sg
Sami, on my personal site i listed 13 things that might help you. Here is the link
http://www.joe-cannon.com/what-weight-loss-supplements-work/
Sorry if I came across as rude but I deal with people such as Marie on a day to day bases…they all have their 2 cents to contribute but w/o any studies, trials….anything at all to back up their opinions….
I call these people, and I can due to my business, drama royalty lol and people that love to stir up the mess just so they can be IN the mess….
But we really must have a little empathy for these as this is the only thing in life they have to feel a self worth of importance. I just get sick of hearing all the know it alls with no proof.
Again, my apologies Sg
Sami, I understand and no worries. I also think the stress/frustration for weight loss must be even harder for actresses/actors where being “perfect” is so highly coveted.
You have no idea…I’m a breast cancer survivor as well and the treatment burned some of my head which causes my hair to be very thin and did damage to my thyroid making it even harder to lose the weight that seemingly came on “overnight”. As well as all the stress associated with this has made the hair loss and weight gain all that much worse….
Now I’m not 2 or 300 lbs, but in my profession I might as well be….
I just can’t stand people that complain when they know no real suffering….push away from the table….stop going to buffets….drink WATER instead of sodas….use smaller plates to eat out of….move your behinds….
There are those who can’t help it…but there are those who WONT help it…rather sit and sulk…
One of my best friends for life has been dropping weight like it was never there….she started at almost 600lbs. She is half that now!
Sami, thats great about your friend. I do think her wt loss will slow down (dont tell her this) because as we lose weight our metabolism slows. At 600 lbs she had a very high metabolism (we think overweight people have slow metabolisms but generally this isn’t so). Even so, losing 300 lbs is fantastic and I wish her all the luck in the world!
Hollywood puts so much stress on actors – and more so for actresses to be ‘perfect”. I have heard stores about how much but Im sure you could write a book on it.
Joe…is there anyway at all I can STOP getting all the nonsense from people that just don’t know when to stop(not mentioning any names) from coming to my email? It is so annoying as I’m desperately trying to work and ‘they’ keep interrupting…. Thanks so much Doll
Sami, lately several PS distributors have been commenting, with what basically amounts to talking points (not naming names etc). while I felt letting people see those words added something to the conversation, I can understand the frustration of others. I will try to give extra thought to others moving forward.
Joe, I was wondering if you have researched Purium Health Products at all? If so, What did find out?
Hi Amy, Ive never heard of them but I did look at their website. They have a lot of products. If there is a product you are interested in and you know the ingredients of that product, you can put the ingredients in the search box of my site. If I ever mentioned those ingredients before, they will show up as parts of other reviews. From that you might be able to get a better idea of the product you are curious about.
You had mentioned earlier in your post about PS that anything that says cleanse means it has a laxative in it. I was looking into the Purium 10 Day Transformation Cleanse but it doesn’t seem to say that it has any Laxatives in it.Thoughts?
Amy, I would have to see all the actual ingredients. I did look at their website for the product and noticed it has a “daily fiber blend” and a “herbal fiber cleanse” and something called apothe-cherry (catchy name!). The first two might act as laxatives. the cherry product might too if it contained fiber.
“Cleanse” may not always mean laxative. It may also mean diuretic or something that induces vomiting; but it is always an undefined term like “toxins” and “immune booster” that inspires my suspicion.
The liver, kidneys, colon and spleen cleanse the body through complex processes. The idea that some handful of chemicals made by plants, probably to wage chemical warfare on insects and herbivores, does a better job than those organs sounds like magic.
Sami, have you heard of Juice Plus+? There has been 31 independent studies done on the capsules now and the studies provide proof that Juice Plus+ has amazing results in lots of different test subjects, I would recommend looking into Juice Plus+ Complete if you want a healthy way to lose weight that doesn’t require you to diet for years on end.
Maria
It would be interesting for you to advise the site as to what specialty your doctor is trained . I have a hard time believing that a legitimate healthcare provider would recommend PS, or any other product that does have any clinical data supporting the SAFETY, EFFICACY, OR HOW IT MAY INTERACT WITH OTHER PRODUCTS. It may even open the doors for malpractice.
Correct me if I am wrong, but, just bet you are a new ambassador just beginning your “mind numbing,” and “brainwashed” journey through MLM. How do I know, I was an ambassador and can smile a new one a mile away.
Off subject, but you are right “opiates” can be dangerous. Really depends on if being abused, or not properly controlled by the healthcare provider. The point here is at least, and based on years of studies, the short-term and long-term effects of opiates are well documented, unlike PS.
Maria, do your homework on Joe. Then have the guts to get back on the site and call him uneducated. Wow!
Not only are doctors recommending it, but they are also writing prescriptions for it. Do YOUR homework Pete. 😉
Maria, I dont think you can write a prescription for something that is not a drug can you? hmmm I am no expert on this (by a long shot!) but I wonder, would writing a “prescription” for a product that the doctor sells, violate the Stark Law? Probably not since PS is not a medical service, but I would steer clear of the word “prescription” as it might get the attention of the FDA, which might frown on this.
My doctor doesn’t write prescriptions for it. Pay attention. DOCTORS do. I didn’t say my doctor. And doctors can write prescriptions for many things. As a matter of fact, if a woman is on WIC (a government run program for low income mothers) receiving formula for her baby & the doctor decides to change the child’s formula, it is REQUIRED that the doctor write a prescription.
Maria, you are sounding pretty angry, telling me to pay attention and do my homework. Don’t know why you are so mad because by your own admission your biggest issue with me is that I did not try PS. You have not offered any counter arguments to the things I brought up in my review.
As for unknown doctors writing prescriptions for PS, without names to back that up, that’s just a talking point which is not what I focus on. Doctors or not, I prefer to look at the the research.
No, not angry. A better word would be amused. For a person that wants people to believe he is so educated, yet you don’t even know that any doctor anywhere can write a prescription even for baby formula.
maria, I brought up the prescriptions because the FDA does not like implications that supplements might have drug like effects. talking about prescriptions for PS I think might not be wise. I was trying to help you.
always happy to amuse 🙂
Drug like side effects? None here.
Maria, really not even the accelerator?
I take a medications, my mother is a diabetic and took the ingredients to her pharmacist as many people do and all have said the product is safe and shouldn’t interact with the meds.
The product has been tested with thousands of people with no side effects with their medication.
Christa, if the product has been “tested with thousands of people with no side effects with their medications” can you tell me where those studies are published?
I only watched a youtube video from one of the co-creators. I know you think this doesn’t justify the product, but I know first hand it works and it doesn’t affect my meds, nor my moms. And she takes meds for rheumatoid arthritis, hypo-thyroidism and diabetes.
Why don’t you just contact the company and ask for their results?
Christa, what would you suggest I ask them if I contacted them?
Their results? If it’s been published in New England Journal of Medicine? Whatever information you’re looking for. It seems like a basic investigative journalist type of move, don’t you think? Go right to the horse’s mouth.
It’s like you and so many other are not really being all that scientific about your research at all. Anyone can do what you you’ve done. Google some ingredients and ta da.
Why not do something that no one has done?
And you claim that the product is overpriced. That’s speculation, not science. Your article is full of your opinions, but yet you don’t want testimonials here. I thought this was supposed to be unbiased?
Also, it’s much less than most weight loss products. And because you eat less and don’t crave junk food, you actually end up with more money in your pocket at the end of the month.
After reading all of your comments in regards to other people, I have come to the conclusion that you are closed minded and believe that if you can’t get all the answers then the product doesn’t work.
That’s fine and dandy, but thousands of people are getting results and I think your uneducated opinions are deterring people from a product that will really help them. It will help their health and well being and you’re taking that away from them.
This is my final say and I will not be visiting your site again. I hope your followers don’t just take your word for it.
Good luck and God bless.
Christa, While I will give my opinions, that is based mostly on what I have seen, as far as the science is concerned. It’s ironic that you have criticized on this, because one of the things I often get criticized about from others is that I did not try the product and tell about my experience. Well, trying a product and sharing my experience (testimonial), is also an opinion.
You are entitled to your opinion. Good luck and God bless to you as well 🙂
Joe, keep up the good work! I can’t imagine how long it must take to look up information on all those ingredients! I have friends who have been using PS for a few months now and they’ve all seen pretty significant weight loss- over 20 lbs. each! They’ve also experienced a reversal of many symptoms associated with diabetes, like numb spots and BSL drops. To my knowledge, they have made only minor changes to their lifestyle and diet, so that makes PS look pretty good.
However, I find it extremely unsettling that these women are being told it is okay to use this product while nursing or pregnant when some of these ingredients haven’t even been tested on humans! That the amounts of certain ingredients aren’t being revealed. That it seems like the company may have embellished the truth here or there.
I’ve seen results first hand but it’s hard to trust a company that seems to have so much to hide. You’ve given me a lot to think about. Thanks for taking the time!
Jennie, you are very welcome 🙂
Your review didn’t sound close to ‘unbiased’. Every point you made was negative.
Would you like to discuss where you feel I went wrong?
I’ll trust my doctor not you. He has my best interest.
I would agree to trust what your doctor says first. You did say your doctor also sells Plexus Slim.
Where you went wrong is you didn’t try the products yourself. There are many FDA approved products that have been EXTREMELY dangerous! Phen-Fen? Opiates? Lets talk about those Joe.
Maria, if my not trying PS is the only problem you have with what I wrote, then you don’t have much to argue with me about. If I tried PS and said “it didnt work” what value would that be to anybody? none. It would just be a testimonial. That’s why I like to look at the science.
My site is not about prescription drugs but I will agree they also can have some pretty bad side effects (I agree 100% about Phen Fen – it was a horrible decision to start giving that to people).
I don’t consider anyone an expert unless they’ve experienced it themselves.
Maria, that is, of course, your choice.
Maria- is cocaine bad for you? Have you tried it? If not- then how do you know it’s bad for you? Scientific research? Exactly.
How are you judging Phen Fen Maria? I hope you tried it before you had the negative comment about it. Let’s talk about your review of crystal meth good or bad for you Maria? I would stop your use of opiates Maria. (I’m assuming you’re taking them since you classified them as ‘EXTREMELY dangerous” only people who use the product are allowed to have any type of say with your theory)
I have several family members who have recently began using PS and the accelerator for weight loss or energy or both. I am one who is concerned about “what’s in it” when something sounds good enough to try. They do have increased energy but thanks to your break down of the ingredients I will not be trying it. I can see that the boost is most likely due to the ‘speed’ like ingredient which is something I would not want to take. That alone would cause health problems for me. Perhaps not so for everyone.
The last person, sad to say, that I would trust with knowledge of drug interaction and nutritional supplements is a medical doctor. The best person to discuss drug matters with is the pharmacist and the person to trust with nutritional supplements is a well educated (and open minded) nutritionist. And, personal investigation. I subscribe to ConsumerLab.com to keep up on new findings and reviews of manufacturers. They have saved me from myself a time or two.
Having had drug interaction I am very concerned with “what’s in it”. Thank you for another place to turn to. I can take your info or I can foo foo it, but it is the only place I could find that would list and explain the ingredients.
Thanks Lana, glad I was able to help.
Thank you for the information! Until more research is available i will pass. I am also researching juice plus. Perhaps that would be a better health choice.
Tiffany, anytime. Juice Plus is more of a general health supplement than a weight loss product but there is research on juice Plus.
Here is a link to one of my reviews on Juice Plus.
I am a Juice Plus distributor and we have a fantastic product called Complete that is starting to be used for weightloss with very successful results! Complete is a whole food drink so its not just another weightloss fad, I take all of the Juice Plus products and I’m so glad that there is a JP+ product that has been thoroughly researched that has had success with weightloss!
Kayla, is there published weight loss research on Juice Plus Complete? Could you tell me the titles of that research (or a link to it) so I could check it out. This is the first I’m hearing about this.
Thank you Joe for the unbiased review of this product. I just heard about it last night…& I was wondering about it…Now I know! Thank you..
I have been working hard at re-arranging my lifestyle & nutrition…(aka the what & how much I eat) I had lap band surgery 6 yrs ago and never lost a pound! Not 1 lb!!! It is my total belief that there is only ONE way to lose weigh effectively, safely & keep it off…thru proper nutrition, portion control & exercise!
It’s a total lifestyle change one that must be made for the rest of your life..I just wish I had Realized that there is NO quick fix for weight loss Before I paid an outrageous amount of money to have Useless surgery that has an 80%+ failure rate!!!
Gail, Im glad I was able to help and so sorry to learn about what you have been going through. Take a look at the 13 tips I listed on this review of wt loss supplements
http://www.joe-cannon.com/what-weight-loss-supplements-work/
this is a link to my personal site. I do feel your on the right track about lifestyle change. Some of those tips may help you achieve your goals.
Thank you very much 🙂 I shall head on over there now 🙂
You are soooo uneducated. Time after time you say “no evidence that this ingredient helps with weight loss”. Plexus Slim is not exclusively used for just weight loss! Study harder!
Maria, it’s funny you say plexus slim is not only used for weight loss because I just went to the PS website and the VERY FIRST sentence I see for plexus slim is this: “Having trouble losing weight and keeping it off?” Sounds like weight loss is a big part of the marketing to me.
I removed your plexus slim distributor website as its against my policy.
I weigh 90 pounds and have for many years. I obviously don’t need Plexus Slim for weight loss. I began using it for other health ailments. I no longer have any of the issues I had prior. And if you click on the tab “products”, you will learn we have many other products. Why would you “knock” a product that you have not studied in depth or even used yourself? Plexus Slim was originally developed for diabetes patients & people with high blood pressure. Weight loss was a wonderful side effect.
Maria, I am not knocking anything. I just reported what I found when I investigated the product. I’m still very open to discussing what you feel I said that was wrong – and even changing what I said if you can provide proof that I am in error. You said PS was developed originally for diabetes – but there is no published peer reviewed proof its ever been tested in diabetics.
Here is a list of every ingredient and what it is good for:
littlepinkdrink.com/2011/10/whats-in-plexus-slim-anyway/
Maria, I’m pretty sure I listed every ingredient in the link you provide. The website you showed does not show any proof that the ingredients do what it is said. To me, that basically amounts to talking points. In contrast, I linked to research in support the things I noted.
My doctor researched all ingredients and agreed that they all do what is listed in my link. He is a huge advocate and sells it as well.
Maria, That’s good but doctor or no doctor, I can’t find any published research on PS itself.
You’re kidding- right Maria? “Your doctor” discounts the dozens of researched reports Joe linked too? And he “sells it as well”. You think that’s unbiased?
I realize you sell it- and you want to make money. Fine. Sell it. But I hope you don’t use it.
Are you that gullible? Your doctor didn’t research anything for you. He just gave lip service to what you wanted to hear. The stuff is loaded with sugar (real or fake) and chemicals — well there you go, chemicals = fake = not real food. BTW — come talk to me about this bridge I’ve been trying to sell. You’ll buy and believe anything.
Thank you Joe for the research. I have a friend taking this product for weight loss, but noted her hypoglycemia is now under control. It appears to be a good product for many people. Nothing works for everyone.
Marrina, glad to help and happy your friend is doing ok now 🙂
Maria…..IF Joe had Not written about PS I could be having some very SERIOUS side effects right now that would of put me in hospital or worse! NONE of which is Mentioned on the brochures I have OR the website!!! In fact I think it said there is no evidence it interacts with any medications!! Whereas Joe plainly stated which ingredients it CAN interact in Negative ways with & when I did more research I found that too be true of those ingredients!!!
I was NOT using it for weight loss, I just wanted to incorporate healthy ingredients into my smoothies..hence the reason I was researching it.
It’s not a question of “if” it works or not for me..as I don’t go on “fad or liquid” diets….they are scientifically proven to be upwards of 80+ % Failure rate & in No way change your eating habits or lifestyle..I used to be on that “diet” roller coaster…there is NO QUICK FIX for losing weight & being healthy & being able to maintain that for a life time!
PS Was introduced to ME as a Weight Loss Product and ONLY a weight loss product…the booklet given to me IS all about weight loss. The web site is ALL about weight loss. I looked at it all because as I say I was thinking perhaps it could be a healthy ingredient…but NO info was given on it until I found Joe’s information, and thank God I did!!
So perhaps you should study harder Maria because I can tell you right now it’s playing with someone’s life possibly by NOT informing them that ingredients in this PS Can interact with medications!!!
Your doctor sells it? & that is unbiased how?? Gee, my doctor tells me to eat healthy natural foods based on the national standard nutritional guidelines..& to watch portion control, calories & exercise…he doesn’t try to sell me PS & if he did I would immediately change doctors!
Oh, as for Joe not trying the product…I agree with him, that would of only been yet an other “testimonial” not proven scientific evidence. Good thing I didn’t “just try it’ or I could of been typing this from a hospital bed!!!
Gail you are so right here. I tried Plexus not to lose weight but to get more engery. I only used 12 packets and felt it was NOT for me. My stomach bloated up so badly that it looked like I was pregnant and at 66 yrs old that is NOT the look I am looking for! I took GasX to get rid of that.
I also noticed that I would feel a bit dizzy at times never thinking that my BP meds might be affected by using this product. I also totally lost my appetite and one day I did not eat all day until evening when I realized I had not eaten. That is definitely not a healthy thing. I did not check with my doc first as all I kept reading was safe, safe, safe, natural, natural, natural ingredients.
Unless doctors really check into products or know for sure that they are not good, I don’t think they can give you a good answer on if you should use it or not. I don’t think a doctor should be selling this product as that would be a conflict of interest in my opinion. I just returned the unused packets to Plexus and I am hoping to get my money back.
I decided to just try more exercise for energy and that will be FREE and easy on my budget. Thanks, Gail for your comment and Thank You Joe for giving us all this very well thought out information.
Jackie, you are very welcome 🙂
Joe,
Plexus Slim is not for everyone. Of course people should check with their doctor first. Please remind everyone that they should always check with their doctor before using ANY supplement.
Maria, I think thats wise for all supplements also.
When UI see my doctor in a couple of weeks, I will ask him about PlexusSlim and see what he says. He may say it’s ok and he might not. I will see what kind of advice I would have received from him on this. Do docs really check out all the ingredients in stuff to give you a good answer? And what about the ingredients that are in the product but called by a different name? I KNEW I should not use Hoodia with my BP meds but Joe gave me the heads up on that is not what they called it in Plexus. When my BP went up I had no idea Hoodia was in Plexus. I’ll let you know what happened at the doc’s sometime in October.
Jackie, I don’t if your doc will look up all the ingredients. Im guessing he/she will just look at the ingredients. show him/her my review of the ingredients. that will at least give the doctor a quick overview of whats in it.
OK, Joe, I will do that. I know I will get some flak from people who will say I should have done that first but the all natural thing threw me off. BUT now I know that natural does not necessarily mean safe especially if you are on certain types of meds. The Ambassador that told me about PlexusSlim seems to think I used it incorrectly. How can you take it incorrectly? You mix it with water and drink it! Duh……. I think she is upset because I am the FIRST one that said, “I’m sending it back!”
Jackie, glad to help 🙂
Death Angel mushrooms, Belladona, Strychnine, Hemlock (the herb, not the tree), Ricin and Poison Ivy are also “all natural.” For that matter, so are cancer, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, malaria and bubonic plague. Cardiac bypass surgery, casting of broken bones and intravenous injections of antibiotics are all “unnatural.”
Thank you for the article. I came to it as I wanted to get reviews of this product. You come off very cocky in the article and even tho I have never used the product, I was upset. I didn’t like that. There is no reason to do that.
You presented the ingredients but another thing that almost kept me from reading your article is the way you kept saying no proof of it being used for this or that. However, one of your sentences caught my eye and I was glad I kept going. You presented what it could do if one had certain things. I liked that. That alone will keep me from getting it. I also liked the fact that you introduced the Hoodia. What a name….reminds me of being Hoodwinked.
I know a lot of people spend a lot of money and these scammers just greedily take it irregardless of the consequences to the person or whether or not their product really works.
So, I am grateful for that. Just wish your article wasn’t so cocky at the beginning. You have some really good points. Thanks for reviewing.
Kara, Im glad I was able to help. My goal was not to come off “cocky” and sorry you took it that way.
Jackie, I hear you, I’ve had my medications interact with what I was told was “natural” since that happened I try my best to find all the Proven Research on anything I am considering. During my research I happened on Joe’s review 🙂 which had exactly everything I was wanting to know & answered all my questions.
I find even simple exercising gives me more energy along with proper eating, the more healthy & natural I eat the better I feel 🙂 I do like smoothies though, so I wanted to find something good for me & healthy, I also realized (from reading Joe’s info on his other page) I wasn’t watching calorie or sugar content in protein mixes *oops!*
I still say the best way to lose weight & maintain is thru healthy diet and exercise it’s a lifestyle change for life., I consider protein smoothies a part of that. Good luck with your exercise, I know I feel better with it 🙂
I hope you are feeling better.
Thanks Gail. You are so right about eating right and exercise and I also am an avid water drinker. It was my fault for not checking into the ingredients more especially since I take meds. The only reason I checked out Joe’s website was that I was sort of made to feel I was stupid or not taking Plexus correctly. I wanted to see if anyone else had any reactions to the product. Now that I know more facts than the fiction I had been told and read about, I do feel better. The Fall weather has finally come to the Midwest and I love that Fall nip in the air. That alone gives me energy.
Hi Jackie, it’s not easy finding out all the info..I’ve made the same mistakes I’m sorry someone made you feel bad about it that’s just mean!. I drink a lot of water too..I like to keep jugs in the fridge some with orange slices, or cucumber, lemon, lime…makes it a wee bit more exciting lol. I am glad you found Joe’s site & got the proper info. I’m glad you are feeling more energized! Fall is definitely here in Canada too (west coast) foggy & 60 degrees this morning.
Gail,
I don’t typically leave website comments but you mentioned about wanting to find a healthy supplement for your smoothies. My chiropractor is really into organic, natural, clean eating and recommended that I use Nature’s Plus Spiru-tein soy protein powder. I make a smoothie for breakfast throughout the work week and with adding the powder, I’ve found that it fills me up so I have no problem making it to lunchtime. It should be available at your local healthfood store or can be found online (know I’ve seen it on Amazon.com).
I have IBS which it has helped tremendously. I also don’t get sick near as often even when around other people who are sick. It is kind of expensive but for better health, it’s worth the extra money!
Jessica
Jessica, thanks for the heads up and I did find Spiru-tein on amazon. It has a lot of protein and other nutrients. Ive never tried it but Ive known people who speak highly of spirulea.
Hi Joe, quick question…I was looking at Spiru-Tein…on Amazon…it lists the ingredients..I couldn’t figure out where they were getting the 8 gm sugar from? I assume that is per scoop..is that a lot? I am trying to avoid sugar that isn’t natural. Thank you 🙂
Hi Gail, I cant be sure but I think they added it in for taste. I looked up Spiru-Tein on Amazon. At the bottom of the ingredients list, it says 19 grams of sugar but in the breakdown that comes to
11 grams of total carbohydrate
1 gram of fiber
8 g grams of sugar
Since there are 28 grams in 1 ounce of anything, 8 grams is a lot less than this so it doesn’t have much sugar. The product is made by Natural Organic Laboratories in Amityville NY. Their # is (631) 957-5600. I’m sure they could tell you more specifically where the sugar comes from if you call them.
Thank you Joe 🙂 Much appreciated!
Jessica,
Do you mind passing along the particular Nature’s Plus Spiru-tein product that seems to have helped your IBS? My mother fights with IBS constantly and would like to pass along the particular product to her in case it would help her as well. Thanks!
Joe,
Thank you for ALL of your reports. They have saved me the time and cost and frustration of trial and error!
Thanks for that Michelle 🙂
Thank you Jessica 🙂 very much appreciate it. I will give it a try 🙂 Sounds good.
