Update 12/6/22. At one time, Anatabloc was a SUPER popular anti-inflammation supplement. It was sold online and at GNC and elsewhere. It was touted to help reduce pain, help joints and arthritis pain, and reduce chronic inflammation. Anatabloc was unique. It contained an ingredient not found in any other supplement I've EVER seen in over 20 years of investigation. This unique ingredient also contributed to its own downfall. In this unbiased, updated review, I reveal everything you need to know about Anatabloc, from its rise – and fall – to the research and proof and the company which made it. I'll also shed light on other anatabloc supplements too.
What Is Anatabloc
Before we talk about Anatabloc (sometimes misspelled Anatablock), I need to tell you about Anatabine (also called anatabine citrate). Anatabine is the active ingredient in Anatabloc. Anatabine is a chemical found in
- eggplants
- potatoes
- green tomatoes
as well as tobacco and tobacco smoke (remember this).
Chemically, anatabine “looks” like nicotine. Because of this, it was also used some anti-smoking supplements. Anatabine has a longer half life than nicotine, so it stays in the body longer. That's why it was thought it might help people quit smoking.
How Does Anatabloc Work?
Here is the way Anatabloc was supposed to reduce chronic inflammation:
1. Anatabine enters the cells of the body where it…
2. Deactivates a protein called NFkB.
3. When NFkB is deactivated, it can't enter the nucleus of the cell (the brain center of the cell) to cause excessive cellular inflammation.
Inflammation is thought to play a role in MANY diseases, such as:
and many others.
So, if Anabloc worked, it might have disease-modifying benefits. If you read the comments below, you will see some people have said some pretty amazing things too.
Anatabloc Ingredients
Anatabloc contains these ingredients
Anatabine | 1 mg |
Vitamin A | 500 IU |
Vitamin D3 | 40 IU |
This review will focus only on Anatabine because this is “secret sauce” in Anatabloc.
Other Ingredients
These other ingredients are also found in this supplement: Mannitol, natural and artificial mint flavors, sucralose, silicon dioxide, stearic acid, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide (color), natural glaze, methylparaben, propylparaben, triethyl citrate, citric acid, BHT, mono and diglycerides, and polysorbate 80
These ingredients played no role in the results or benefits of Anatabloc.
Anatabloc Research
When this review was originally created, the proof for Anatabloc was mostly on lab animals. There is now human proof. This review will focus only on human research. Much of the research is on Anatabine, which is an active ingredient in Anatabloc. Still, proof for anatabine is proof for Antabloc.
Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals (more on them below) supports and plays a role in much of the research.
Studies On Anatabloc
In one report, researchers in the US gave Anatabloc or a placebo to 146 people with Hashimoto's disease – the most common form of hypothyroidism. People were given 9-24 mg of anatabine in the form of lozenges. Those taking Anatabloc saw a significant reduction in thyroid autoantibodies.
Some people saw over a 20% decrease in thyroid autoantibodies. This means better working thyroid glands.
One small study (10 people) noted a face cream containing anatabine improved skin appearance, reducing redness and blotchy skin appearance. This does make some sense. Niacin, which looks a little bit like anatabine has been used in skin creams for years.
Niacin is also VERY popular in the anti-aging world. See the Niagen review for more on this.
Anatabine cigarettes have been shown to reduce nicotine levels in smokers significantly. This study reflects the interest in using anatabine to help people quit smoking.
Because inflammation follows exercise, researchers were interested in seeing if anatabine would reduce inflammation after people worked out. In this study, 18 men were given either a placebo or 6-12 mg of anatabine per day for 10 days. They also performed an intense exercise program.
Unfortunately, this noted anatabine did not reduce pain, or swelling or help muscle strength. This is noteworthy, given TV commercials featuring pro golfers John Isner and Fred Couples.
In another exercise study, researchers gave Anatabloc or a placebo to 17 men. The dosage of Anatabloc used was 6-12 mg. While these researchers saw that Anatabloc did not reduce exercise-induced muscle damage, it did appear to reduce markers of inflammation such as C reactive protein (CRP). That is interesting.
Preliminary research suggests anatabine activates NFR2, a substance that raises naturally produced antioxidant defenses such as superoxide dismutase (SOD). This is at the heart of some proposed anti-aging supplements, such as Protandim and PB125.
There are also several lab animals and test-tube studies involving Anatabloc/anatabine. I won't cover them here because we are people and not mice, rats or test tubes.
Summary Of Anatabloc Research
Here is a summary of the Anatabloc human research:
- Anatabine reduced thyroid antibodies in people with hypothyroidism
- Anatabine lowers nicotine levels in smokers
- Anatibine did not reduce muscle damage, pain, or swelling but may lower CPR levels
Anatabloc Questions
Let's now answer some common questions people have asked me about this supplement.
Can Anatabloc help muscle soreness?
Muscle soreness after exercise (DOMS) is very common. Currently, the proof seems to show Anatabloc doesn't reduce muscle soreness, swelling or muscle damage. It may reduce a blood test marker of inflammation called CRP. I think we need more exercise research.
Can Anatabloc Help Concussions?
There is brain inflammation when someone gets a concussion. But there is no proof that taking Anatabloc:
- reduces the risk of getting a concussion
- improves recovery time after getting a concussion
- reduces brain damage from concussions
I cannot find any research involving anatabine and concussions.
In December 2013, the FDA sent a warning letter to Star Scientific – makers of Anatabloc – telling them to remove references on their websites which gave people the impression the supplement might help concussions and other forms of traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
For more on concussions and TBI see these reviews:
Can Anatabloc Help Multiple Sclerosis?
The proof that Anatabloc can help MS is in its infancy. There is some mouse evidence it may help, but no human studies have been conducted yet.
What About Anataboc and Weight Loss?
Websites might discuss how anatabine/Anatabloc can help people lose weight or reduce weight gain, which sometimes happens when people quit smoking. But there is no good proof for this. No study has looked at reducing gaining weight after quitting smoking.
What is CigRx?
This is the anti-smoking product Star Scientific was developing before it began researching anatabine for arthritis pain and other health problems. CigRx contains anatabine too.
Anatabloc Dosage
The general recommendation is to take 2 lozenges per day. Do not use more than 6 lozenges per day. Another dosage recommendations= take your body weight into consideration. Here the Anatabloc dosages would be:
- 100-120 lbs: 2 lozenges 3x per day
- 121-170lbs: 2 lozenges 4x per day
- 171-220lbs: 2 lozenges 5x per day
- over 220lbs: 2 lozenges 6x per day
I've never seen this dosage regimen used in human studies. So, I'm not sure how accurate this is.
Who Makes Anatabloc?
Anatabloc is a product of a company called Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals. Another name for this company is Star Scientific. Star Scientific was the original name of the company. When the research changed directions from looking at Anatabine as a cure for smoking to helping arthritis pain, the company changed its name to Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals.
The phone number for the company was 800-778-2031. The company website was Anatabloc.com (the website no longer works). When this review was originally created, the Better Business Bureau listed the company address as 4470 Cox Rd Ste 110, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
There is also a connection to another company called the RosKamp Institute, located in Florida. Some of the research on Anatabloc has been conducted by this company too.
The company has since filed for bankruptcy and is no longer making Anatabloc supplements.
Should I Invest In Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals?
Star Scientific formally changed its name to Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals in 2014. Its stock symbol is RCPI. It's a publicly traded company. Regardless of what you invest in, do your homework.
Be careful with “gurus” who talk stocks up on websites, as you don't always know who you are dealing with. Sometimes unscrupulous people say things about a company to create interest so they can pump the stock price up so they can dump it for a profit. This trick is sometimes called “pump and dump.” Unless you’re an investing pro (think Warren Buffett), I recommend you talk to a financial advisor before risking any money.
Anatabloc And The FDA
Many people think the FDA does not regulate supplements. Anatabloc is proof it does. Almost from the start, the FDA claimed anatabine contained a new dietary ingredient (NDI). A new dietary ingredient is any substance that was not sold as a supplement before 1994.
Products containing new dietary ingredients need to prove to the FDA they are safe. There is also the issue that anatabine is found in tobacco. Tobacco cannot be called a dietary supplement. I think this may also have played a role in the demise of Anatabloc.
Rock Creek pharmaceuticals state that because anatabine is found in things like peppers and eggplants, it is not new and can be sold as a supplement. In the end, the FDA won, and Rock Creek stopped making Anatabloc.
Calls To Bring Back The Sale Of Anatabloc
Problems with the FDA have not stopped people from hoping for the return of Anatabloc.
This has not stopped people who loved Anatabloc from continuing to hold out hope. Former customers have launched a petition at Change.org to petition the FDA to reverse their decision and let Anatabloc be sold again.
They created the website BringBackAnatabloc.org where you can share your testimony of how the supplement helped you, sign an FDA petition to bring Anatabloc back, and read news about the supplement.
How To Buy Anatabloc: Can You Still Purchase It?
While this supplement was once VERY popular and sold at GNC and other stores, it is no longer permitted to be sold in the US. The FDA forced Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals to stop the production of Anatabloc.
Anatabloc Supplements
While Anatabloc is no longer able to be purchased in the US, I did notice other companies selling supplements said to contain anatabine.
One such company is HydraPharm (PredatorNutrition.com). They sell a supplement literally called “Anatablok” which they say contains “pure anatabine.” Predator Nutrition is not based in the US. I am not sure if they are allowed to ship their Anatablok supplement to the US.
The supplement is marked as an anti-inflammatory nootropic (brain enhancer) used to support memory and attention.
The Va Governor Controversy
As if things could not get worse, Rock Creek Pharm found itself at the center of a very public controversy involving the former Virginia governor, Robert McDonnell, and his wife. It's alleged Rock Creek gave $165,000 in gifts to the former Va governor and his wife in exchange for helping Rock Creek's development of Anatabloc.
Anatabloc Side Effects
Anatabloc is probably safe for healthy people, at least for short-term use. Human research shows no significant negative side effects. Mild to moderate side effects reported have included:
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Headache
- Tingling feelings
- Insomnia
In the comments section below, one person reported feelings of depression. This has not been observed in clinical studies.
Does Anatabloc Work?
Despite the problems with the FDA, several people swore Anatabloc worked. I never experimented with it when it was being sold and the only person I knew who did try it told me it did not reduce his pain. Pain is complicated and its possible others may have had better results.
Unfortunately, Anatabolc supplements are no longer available in the US. While, in the past, I have been rather hard on this supplement and Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals, I was sad it was taken off the market. I am happy to see some human research on anatabine, look forward to more and hope one day to see it sold once again.
Joe, my experience with anatabine began in March of 2011. I had read that buyers of CiGRX were experiencing surprise beneficial side effects. Now, contrary to what has been posted, CiGRX has not been marketed as a quit smoking product but rather a non-nicotine product that can be an alternative for when smokers want to light up but can’t, like in an airplane or restaurant. I tried some and within the first week experienced reduced sinus inflammation, reduced gums inflammation and reduced prostate inflammation with maybe one nighttime bathroom visit, if that, instead of my previous norm of 3 to 5.visits. RA stiffness and pain in my left hand and fingers also went away. I switched to Anatabloc when it came out in October 2011.
Peter Lynch, arguably one of the top investors of all time, solidified his reputation as one of the world’s best fund managers while managing the Fidelity Magellan fund. He counsels investors to remain independent and open to new investment ideas, often spotted through observation and experience.
Based on my experience I should be invested in Star Scientific. Would that make my comments untrue? less valid? If so should we assume that negative comments are being made by folks with a short position in the stock? (short; a bet on the stock going down)
My personal opinion is that pumping or bashing of a company is only effective when done by those in the limelight with a following. Notably, although we would never expect lawyers to act unscrupulously, a new tactic is a law firm announcing an investigation via a press release alluding to vague breaches of fiduciary conduct. This will work until the publishers of the press releases wise up to how they are being used.
With that in mind, I think that for the most part, the personal reviews of customers at GNC and Amazon can be given credence, here, too. I noticed that negative comments are about (loosely) 5%.
Mike L, I have also noticed that negative reviews of anatabloc are few and what you say is also true about the possibility of people bashing the company in order to effect the stock price. This is why I let the science do the talking for me. Positive or negative comments of anatabloc notwithstanding, the studies done by the company are glaring in their lack of human trials. That is a fact that no investor or commenter can argue with.
I sent for the Anatabloc free trial for an agreed $4.95 charge to by credit card. I received the sample in a couple of days and tried it. Since I have good days and bad with my inflammation symptoms, short term periods – a day or two of no inflammation are not unusual.
So the short trial produced no significantly noteworthy results. My wife also sent for a free trial – and let me use hers. So, after three weeks – still no noticeable – significant effects that I can contribute to Anatabloc
What we did get with our “free trial’s” was an unauthorized charge to each of our credit cards of about $80 to reoccur automatically every month – also unauthorized. I called my credit card company and told them I hadn’t authorized the charges knowingly. They were already familiar with this complaints against Anatabloc and told me that the only way they could stop the re-occurring charges was to issue me a new credit card which they did.
Given the lack of any real peer reviewed science supporting Anatabloc, it would appear illogical for a company to use these kind (legal ?) of marketing techniques if they thought that their product had in efficacy and thus the potential for a bright long term future.
I read in Seeking Alpha in Dec. that Star Scientific was cash strapped and perhaps this explains this aggressive no-holds barred marketing approach. Personally, if I were on the Star Scientific board I would fire their marketing director and issue a public apology for their marketing decisions.
To summarize – Anatabloc in my experience produced no noticeable significant inflammation reductions, however – its highly questionable aggressive marketing produced massive inflammation from high reactive C stress level inducement. This kind of “inflammatory marketing” is a genuine pain in the ass and not something any reputable health product company engages in – or one that seeks to maintain clients and their professional credibility.
Buyers should beware of Anatabloc – especially until their is some clear peer reviewed human studies – and use a temporary virtual credit card number if ordering.
masonxhamilton, thanks for writing AND for mentioning the part about how credit card company was familiar with unauthorized charges associated with Anatabloc. I was not aware of this. Based on what you and others have said, I will update my review with this information just in case it happens to others.
I had to see for myself. The page where you give them your credit card number has the terms. “Terms and Conditions During the seven day trial period, starting the day you receive your shipment, we want you to use Anatabloc as needed. If, for any reason, you would like to discontinue using Anatabloc, simply inform us before day seven of your trial period and you will not be shipped or charged anything further. For your convenience, if we have not heard back from you during the trial period, your card will be charged $79.99 – a discount of $20 off the regular price—and you will be shipped your first month’s supply so you can continue using Anatabloc without interruption. As long as you remain a member, you will continue to receive a new supply every thirty days and the account you used today will continue to be charged that $79.99. You can call our customer service department between 10am-8pm EST Monday-Friday to customize or cancel your shipments at any time. The number is (800)-586-0785.”
I just got off the phone with the company pharmacist, they have 2 MD’s on call too. She was very helpful and for now the 2,2,2 is what I’m staying with, it’s given me some significant results, LESS PAIN MEDS overall.
The Vit A in the product is a factor and the company is reformulating with LESS VIT A for the future, older folks don’t need the extra Vit A and I do get 5000 IU’s in my multi which I take EVERY OTHER DAY.
Sad about the stock interests with many people, I have not gone out to buy the stock, but it’s working so far for my health re: pain and inflammation.
Anyone with questions would do good to call the company and talk with the pharmacist, she was very helpful.
I had another night of sleeping pretty much straight thru and waking in no pain. The pain starts when I move and sit, etc…hopefully that will improve with time.
Joy, glad you got a resolution to your questions.
It looks like they dissolve the anatabine in cod liver oil (vitamin A/vitamin D) which has proven anti inflammatory effects on muscles and joints. How much of the reduction of inflammation is due to the anatabine and how much is due to the vitamins. This is an expensive way to take cod liver oil but a nice way to save the tobacco industry. Interesting that the FDA has not come down on them the way they have come down on many of the other supplement companies.
Tim, the FDA probably would only come down on them if they make a specific drug claim (like “stops arthritis pain”). That said, their TV commercial statement “proven to help regulate excess inflammation in muscles and joints” is a very carefully worded statement that is just vague enough to get under the wire.
As Joy mentioned earlier today when she talked to a staff dr she was told they are looking at reducing the vitamin A in Anatabloc in the future. I think this is prudent given the effects of excess vitamin A. Vitamin D is less of an issue and they are not giving much of it in the product.
Joe, are peer reviewed animal studies a waste of time and money, maybe they shouldn’t be done at all? Does the FDA even care? Do most supplements have conclusive peer reviewed human studies? I know anatabine has two in the works but why bother if nobody cares? I’ve looked and find nobody else (supplements) with any. Can you set me on the right track, please?
Mike L, animal research does have merit because if something works and is side effect free in animals, then that can be a jumping off point to do better studies in people. Anatabloc does have that level of research now and that is a good thing. In fact, I’ll even give star scientific a pat on the back for supporting research on their product. Most companies don’t do this. But, because mice are not people, I would have liked to have seen the human studies published before they started advertising on TV etc.
When it comes to the FDA, they are pretty much a paper tiger for the most part. This is because of the law called DSHEA. you can read more about that law here http://supplementclarity.com/supplement-questions/
Wow Joe. Have you any supplements that you can endorse that meets these conditions?
Mike, I really try not to endorse supplements. I’d rather just present the facts and let people decide.
I have been on Anatabloc for several months now and I have not seen any benefit from it. I suffer from arthritis and gout and run 20 to 25 miles a week. I am 57 years old and consider myself in great shape. I have actually experienced more gout outbreaks and my middle seems to be retaining fat.
I quit taking the product last week and had a hard time getting the company to opt out of the auto ship program.
I am also a stock holder and wish the company well. I have found other natural remedies give me better relief such as Bragg’s organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar and Ginger. Thanks for the article Joe.
Charlie, thanks I appreciate you writing.
Charlie I too take braggs off and on for yrs, I’m on it again…you can’t be too bad off running that much a week. I never wanted to run, I was happy working out at the gym for yrs and that work out gave me enough joint damage…jm
Hi folks, thanks Joe, I’ve been doing pretty good on 2,2 and 3 now at bedtime, but I’m thinking could I do better? No way to know unless one “plays” with dosing….
Mary, I read a wonderful testimonial on a psoriasis board in Inspire, I like that group and get a lot of info there and offer a lot….this person has had psoriasis 14 yrs and on anatabloc almost 1 yr with the 2,2,2 dosing…she is only 25 yrs. per her comments.
Rosacea can also be helped with grape seed ex and coconut oil, but do work with the Anatabloc for all the issues re: inflammation….
And yes do get the unflavored next time, my next bottle from Anatabloc will be 300 and unflavored…jm
Joy, I understand but there is some value in the saying “if it aint broke, don’t try to fix it”. Be careful with the “testimonials” you see online. I believe there are a lot of people saying things in order to get people to buy the product and invest in Star Scientific -so they can make money. These investors contact me all the time.
Dosing, I hear too much diff types of dosing info…
In the beginning I was taking 2, 2 and 2 at bedtime, 6 per day, then I bumped to 3 at bedtime…
Now, I’m hearing take 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2 at bedtime….
What is correct? I’m calling the co again to discuss this
tomorrow….what is correct?
I want to get the “BEST” results from this supplement and however that is to be.
Joy, for what its worth, I’d take all human dosage recommendations with a grain of salt until they show us human research. As far as I can tell, any dosage recommendations made appear to be extrapolated from what they give lab mice. Generally I’d use the least dosage that gives you relief without side effects. You did say it was helping you. I’d be happy with that instead of driving yourself crazy trying to figure out if you can get the dosage it “perfect.”
Mary, you will be taking 10, I’m doing pretty good on 7, 2,2 and 3 at bed. I had no negative response at all, I have 2 friends who did…
Did you get the unflavored, the sweetened ones are an artificial sweetener I don’t ever use.
It may take a long time to get rid of a lot of inflammation in knees and lower back….I do believe surgery can leave us with a lot of inflammation….that’s what has happened to me since my hip replacement. Oh what I’ve been thru in the last 2 yrs…..
Joy, I did get the flavored ones through Amazon, not because I wanted them but it looked to me that that was the only bottle offering the 300 lozenges. If the rest had 300, it wasn’t specified and I was afraid of getting an old bottle with 200 in it. If it works for me, I will get the gold card and buy it through GNC.
I have spinal stenosis and rosacea and the stenosis is affecting my knees. I know of no one who says it will be helpful for that, but who knows? Obesity itself is supposed to create a lot of inflammation and maybe this will help with many of the issues I’ve been having.
Mary, I too deal with nasty spinal stenosis, which came roaring on after hip replacement 2 yrs ago, I’ve been H***L with it in the last 2 yrs, went thru 16 sessions of acupuncture recently and it helped with the stenosis, got me sitting better and longer….
Hoping too the anatabloc will address the inflammation in that spine area. It will not change the structure but will help the inflammation…I do specific exercises for the stenosis…spineuniverse is a good site for the exercises…jm
thanks to all of you, especially Joe, for the time and research! my husband received his ‘trial’ order today, then tells me about the deal. i told him to cancel now since the auto ship is no deal when he can get it at GNC. I’ll let you know how it works (or not) for his poor old knees.
thanks!
Michele
Michele – Just know that when you call to cancel, they will do whatever it takes to keep you as a customer – they did to me. They extended my free trial period because I told them I needed more time to see if it worked or not, plus they offered me $10 off my first order.
To my surprise, after a few days, I experienced relief from some low grade inflammation and stiffness in my finger joints. Coincidence, placebo, or did Anatabloc actually work? Who knows, but it’s been one week since my free trial ran out and so far the inflammation has not returned. Regardless, I’ve decided to re-order from them after all, so I’m getting the 300 ct. unflavored for $69.99, free shipping, plus they tell me I can use the $10 off coupon on every other future order. I’m not certain, but I think that winds up being a better deal than at GNC.
I sure hope it helps your husband’s bad knees…my husband has bad knees too, but he’s too much of a skeptic to even try something like Anatabloc.
Also, for anyone concerned about some of the ingredients in Anatabloc, I called their Physicians Helpline to ask about their plan for reformulation, and was told that there is a plan to make it preservative-free (paraben-free) and to reduce the amount of Vitamin A in it. In the meantime they recommended that I reduce or discontinue taking a multivitamin that also contains Vitamin A while also taking Anatabloc.
you got a good deal, with GNC you have to buy the gold card every yr and I think that’s $20….
I stick with the company for $79.99, but getting that $10 off was a good incentive, my gf cancelled her deal from the trial and they too offered her the $10 off…but she chose not to continue…she says she doesn’t have that much inflammation…good for her I say.
And it’s good to get the 300 here on out…
I’m still doing pretty good considering all the joint issues I deal with….
After reading all these comments I had to give Anatabloc a try even though it is so expensive and I don’t know if I’d ever be able to continue it if it did work! It was killing me not to know.
That said, my first dose (I have the new 300 lozenge bottle) was two lozenges and they made me almost instantly nauseous and “spacey” feeling. I took the dose at 6 AM and at 10:30 AM was still feeling sick to my stomach. I sent an email to the company, who wrote back and gave me a number to call to file a report and a number to call to get a refund if I couldn’t take the lozenges.
The person I spoke with to file the report ( I really only called to ask if there was a better way to take it, e.g. on a full stomach) said a doctor would call back to tell me what to do , if anything, about taking the next lozenges. Since no one did call back, I decided to try taking only one at a time, so the first day I took only 5 instead of the 10 I should have.
Today was better and I took all ten without any ill effects. I guess I just needed to get used to them. I am 62 and most medicines usually have weird effects on me and even though I realize this is only a supplement, I wasn’t surprised with how it hit me. I’ll let you know if it helps me at all.
Mary, with supplements, for what its worth, I think its always wise to use less than what is recommended to see how you respond.
Thank you Joe. Good advice. And thanks too for all the research. I’ve learned a lot through your blog
You’re very welcome Mary 🙂

Amelioration of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis by Anatabine
Mike L, yes I did thanks for the update. its a mouse study. I have updated my review to include this new information.
I’m still trying to figure out how this works..when I first saw the ingredients which are “nightshades” (alkaloids from them anyway) I said oh no, I shy away from nightshade foods as I get more pain from them…..now I’m thinking this product works more like an homeopathic remedy..
(“like cures like”), according to which a substance that causes the symptoms of a disease in healthy people will cure similar symptoms in sick people.[1]
So thru some science the company formulated to make this product, it works for pain and inflammation.
Anyone have any thoughts on this “like cures like” concept from homeopathy.
I’ve dabbled in homeopathy for many years and do take some for sleep and during the day between what I take for pain….mentioning this to a friend yesterday and telling her what is in it, etc….and we both agreed nightshades are a no no, then she even said it sounds like a homeopathy concept.
Thoughts??? j
well, I just got off the phone with a company physician and would suggest anyone call with questions…forget the homeopathic theory, it’s all about the anatabine and how it’s formulated…
He went on to say about a Lupus patient who had smoked they would feel better, and when they quit they felt worse….the smoke from the nicotine made them feel better…..
Very interesting to say the least.
I’m driving myself nuts on this one….it’s a big investment money-wise for me. Gotta stop…
I’m finding after a little over 2 weeks I’m needing Advil 2 every 12 hrs….prior to Anatabloc, I took 6 per day…so down to 4 is big for me. So we’ll see as I advance how it
will go… In between I take Arthritis homeopathics and
that could be helping too.
My thoughts on this trial and the stipulations,,,if a customer is getting relief, they will come back and
continue with the company. Doing the auto ship without
their consent is only making people angry and wanting
to leave the company. How many people read terms and
conditions when purchasing a 4.95 offer….I didn’t.
The unflavored tab is much more to my liking, I don’t use artificial sweeteners in anything so I only will buy the
unflavored tabs.
Joy, don’t give up and be sure to get 2 Anatablocs at bedtime. Consider how long you’ve may have suffered with arthritis pain and realize your joints are healing now with better regulation of the inflammation that’s been attacking those joints. Healing will take time.
Anatabloc doesn’t heal per se, it just provides relief from chronic inflammation through a process that’s different from Advil, NSAIDS, Steriods, Statins, and diet. Good luck and by summer you’ll be running the 4th of July 5k!
Interesting that Jim’s daughter indicated anatabine can be used to stop smoking. Rock Creek also makes CigRx to stop smoking and that does contain anatabine & mate (mah-TAY).
I am not a smoker so I don’t know if the anatabine in Anatabloc would deter smoking. I take the Anatabloc for arthritis pain and it has been much more effective than the pain medication my doctor prescribed. As another person mentioned, I stopped taking it and my pain returned so I am taking it again.
I can’t guarantee it will work for everyone. It’s an anti-inflammatory and not a “cure-all” for everyone. I am just thankful to have relief from the pain and no side effects that I have noticed as yet.
I also have rosacea. Anatabloc makes a facial cream that is VERY pricey (about $300). I am hoping that by taking Anatabloc lozenges for my arthritis a side benefit will be that it will reduce the redness caused by rosacea since it is a type of inflammation. Time will tell.
Marjorie, my whole family takes Anatabloc now from my wife, daughters, and son in-law. Because I have a monthly subscription from Anatabloc for 2 bottles a month for my wife & I, I received a free jar of Anatabloc creme last September. As to it’s benefit I’ll just say we ordered another jar when those ran out.
My wife is very pleased with it. Me? Well there’s no amount of creme that can help my mug. If it was cheaper I would use it regularly too because I am so convinced of the properties of anatabine and it’s ability to safely down regulate chronic low grade inflammation, even in the skin.
1st let me say that I have had sciatica for the last 3 months that has been getting worse. This is the first time in my life that I have had any long term pain. I am 59 and in good health except my lower back pain. I was taking 2 or 3 Ibuprofins 2-3 times a day. I went and had a chiropractic adjustment but that had little relief.
I went on a cruise and hobbled around the ship using the jacuzzi and had a few massage treatments. Again the pain persisted down my buttocks, hamstring and calf muscles. When I returned home I tried the Anatabloc taking 2 pills 3 times a day and found that the lower leg and hamstring pain eased to the point that I was walking normally.
The buttocks pain is now down to a dullness. I now only took Ibuprofin once a day. I took myself off of the Anatabloc to see if it was the product or what. The pain in the butt returned and started to radiate down from the sciatica nerve again. I went back to taking the Anatabloc and started feeling better again.
The one side effect that I have is that the MINTED version gives me gas due to the sweetener they use. I will be buying a bottle of the NON MINT variety as soon as I use up the old ones. I will report again later as this web site has helped me gain a lot of insight.
Steve S, thanks for the review and for keeping me updated on how you are doing.
Steve, there are exercises for sciatic nerve issues, I’ve had this issue for 30 some yrs and do the stretching every day…It never goes away….it’s all Inflammation and we need to reduce that Inflammation.
I suffered from debilitating low back pain for years and since 6/day Anatabloc it has completely gone away. It did take a few months though for whatever issue that caused it to heal.
While doing my own investigating on anatabine and NFKB (nuclear factor kappa Beta) signaling I landed on a psoriasis aid web page with pics of people with psoriasis. Wow, it’s an ugly skin condition and I had known my 25yr old daughter suffered from it but did not fully appreciate the seriousness of it nor had I actually seen her skin lesions before. Her mom and her had been fighting the condition for 10+ years with prescription drugs, OTC treatments, etc.
Nothing actually made it go away and stay away. But the very day I saw those pictures I got her over to the house, took pictures of her lesions and gave her a months supply of Anatabloc. Medical research into psoriasis focuses on suppressing NFKB activation with some really powerful (harmful to the immune system) anti-inflammatories. So I thought Anatabloc might help. That was May ’12. It took a good 2-3 months before she began to notice a difference (skin cells take ~28 days to form, grow, and surface). Today she is free from psoriasis for the first time since she was 14. Wow, just wow.
Buyer beware I took the seven day trial and gave them my credit card for 4.95 shipping. After the seven day trial they billed me 79.95 and shipped a box to my house that I did not order. I called the 800 number and told them that I did not re order. The lady advised that if I did not cancel before the 7 day trial ended that I would be automatically shipped and billed for 90 days.
I complained that I did not want the product that did not relieve my pain. She said that the order would be cancelled. I called my credit card company and the charges were reversed and a block put up for Rock Creek. They are sending me paper work to fill out. They told me to refuse the delivery. I did not have a chance to refuse delivery.
The credit card company told me to hold on to the shipment in case they wanted it back. Now I wait!
I am disappointed that Fred Couples is a paid spokes person for this company.
Doug, they did this to my friend that I recommend it to…she took the trial and even talked to the C/S person about NOT sending her more and they agreed to an extended trial for her, but they went ahead and debited her checking acct and sent the product…she was so angry, as I would be….
I’d bet BIG $$$ they do this to everyone who takes the trial, we don’t read the Terms & Conditions at the bottom of the page of the order blank….and they are johnny on the spot of doing “their job” at their timely fashion.
This is NOT right and how can they go on with these tactics….
I believe it’s helping me and I will continue with it for a while yet, don’t know how long, if it continues to help, I’ll stick with it….but the company is so BAD with what they do with the trial offer….
Just have to report this, I had a hip replacement 2 yrs ago and since that surgery my lower back and knees and feet and body in general has been a mess of pain and I’ve done so much in the last couple years, so many alternative protocols from Alphabiotics, Acupuncture, Mesotherapy and in spite of all that was still needing to take 2 advil three times per day and 1/2 vicodin in between all that.
Today and on the 14th of Jan, I took 2 advil two times per day….this is a record and all since Anatabloc!!!!!! It can only get better I’m HOPING,,,,,
Had to share this…this is my 2 week milestone…..
Joy, congrats! I hope you continue to improve 🙂
Yes Joe, it has to continue…
Just realizing how Inflammation is killing many of us
and for me the surgery (major, cutting out parts
putting in artifical parts) is a trauma and **injury** to
the body and how it’s caused so much more
Inflammation, to the already inflammation in my
body…..
Keep learning, as hard as it can be, but I’m learning. And can’t undo surgery and injuries caused to our
bodies….
I’m 6′-5″ and 280 taking 2 tabs 6 times a day. Been on it over a week and am noticing relief for arthritis pain in my shoulder from years of sports as a kid. I’m a skeptic about most things like this so I know it’s not in my head

looks like they are being investigated for breach
of their fiduciary duty regarding some statement that
they were officially connected or working with
john hopkins….
Mike, thanks I was not aware of this.
Star Scientific released a statement today in response to the article on TheStreet.com. The investigation mentioned might have something to do with statements made by the author of the article. I made a long post on this and now it’s gone…what is happening?
Joy, I read your post and it was very similar to other stock-related controversy articles I just posted from others. While this may be important in financial circles, I want to try to keep this post from getting bogged down in stock-related discussions as much as possible. I know this is difficult to do with a publicly traded supplement company like Star Scientific. That said, I’d like to try to keep the discussion targeted to anatabloc research studies, whether it works or not and related topics. I know this is something you feel passionate about and I do respect that. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Just musing about something that may or may not matter. I don’t know but thought I’d throw it out to this forum for discussion. I’m not a doctor, pharmacist or scientist. I’ve read from several people that their symptoms went away while taking Anatabloc and returned when they stopped.
So the cause of the problem has, apparently, not diminished. Not having the symptoms, I guess you also wouldn’t be aware if it was progressing. Does that matter? Maybe it doesn’t matter unless you are dealing with something progressive that needs other types of intervention to stop the progression.
Just wondering about blocking symptoms without actually affecting the cause, what do you think?
Marnie, its an interesting point you bring up. If Anatabloc really does reduce inflammation then it might – theoretically – be slowing the progression of disease and “maybe” helping to give the body time to repair that disease. There are a lot of unknowns here when it comes to this, so Im not sure whether either statement is true or not. Until better studies of anatabloc are done, I don’t believe anybody is in a position to know the answer with certainty to your very good question.
ummm interesting thought….is the plan to get us
on anatabloc “addicted” and stay on it forever….pretty expensive addiction or maybe not….
Of course, that is what the pharma drugs do too, but damaging too….I’m only on it 14 days and finding taking less advil and later in the AM when I wake up….
Joe: I still see the waiting for moderation on two of my entries….am I the only one that sees these? joy
Joy, I see you have 8 separate comments posted. I’m wonder if 2 of them accidentally went to my spam and were deleted? Other than that Im not sure. That doesn’t happen very often (its very rare)
