Update 12/6/22. At one time, Anatabloc was a SUPER popular anti-inflammation supplement. It was sold online and at GNC and elsewhere. It was touted to help reduce pain, help joints and arthritis pain, and reduce chronic inflammation. Anatabloc was unique. It contained an ingredient not found in any other supplement I've EVER seen in over 20 years of investigation. This unique ingredient also contributed to its own downfall. In this unbiased, updated review, I reveal everything you need to know about Anatabloc, from its rise – and fall – to the research and proof and the company which made it. I'll also shed light on other anatabloc supplements too.
What Is Anatabloc
Before we talk about Anatabloc (sometimes misspelled Anatablock), I need to tell you about Anatabine (also called anatabine citrate). Anatabine is the active ingredient in Anatabloc. Anatabine is a chemical found in
- eggplants
- potatoes
- green tomatoes
as well as tobacco and tobacco smoke (remember this).
Chemically, anatabine “looks” like nicotine. Because of this, it was also used some anti-smoking supplements. Anatabine has a longer half life than nicotine, so it stays in the body longer. That's why it was thought it might help people quit smoking.
How Does Anatabloc Work?
Here is the way Anatabloc was supposed to reduce chronic inflammation:
1. Anatabine enters the cells of the body where it…
2. Deactivates a protein called NFkB.
3. When NFkB is deactivated, it can't enter the nucleus of the cell (the brain center of the cell) to cause excessive cellular inflammation.
Inflammation is thought to play a role in MANY diseases, such as:
and many others.
So, if Anabloc worked, it might have disease-modifying benefits. If you read the comments below, you will see some people have said some pretty amazing things too.
Anatabloc Ingredients
Anatabloc contains these ingredients
Anatabine | 1 mg |
Vitamin A | 500 IU |
Vitamin D3 | 40 IU |
This review will focus only on Anatabine because this is “secret sauce” in Anatabloc.
Other Ingredients
These other ingredients are also found in this supplement: Mannitol, natural and artificial mint flavors, sucralose, silicon dioxide, stearic acid, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide (color), natural glaze, methylparaben, propylparaben, triethyl citrate, citric acid, BHT, mono and diglycerides, and polysorbate 80
These ingredients played no role in the results or benefits of Anatabloc.
Anatabloc Research
When this review was originally created, the proof for Anatabloc was mostly on lab animals. There is now human proof. This review will focus only on human research. Much of the research is on Anatabine, which is an active ingredient in Anatabloc. Still, proof for anatabine is proof for Antabloc.
Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals (more on them below) supports and plays a role in much of the research.
Studies On Anatabloc
In one report, researchers in the US gave Anatabloc or a placebo to 146 people with Hashimoto's disease – the most common form of hypothyroidism. People were given 9-24 mg of anatabine in the form of lozenges. Those taking Anatabloc saw a significant reduction in thyroid autoantibodies.
Some people saw over a 20% decrease in thyroid autoantibodies. This means better working thyroid glands.
One small study (10 people) noted a face cream containing anatabine improved skin appearance, reducing redness and blotchy skin appearance. This does make some sense. Niacin, which looks a little bit like anatabine has been used in skin creams for years.
Niacin is also VERY popular in the anti-aging world. See the Niagen review for more on this.
Anatabine cigarettes have been shown to reduce nicotine levels in smokers significantly. This study reflects the interest in using anatabine to help people quit smoking.
Because inflammation follows exercise, researchers were interested in seeing if anatabine would reduce inflammation after people worked out. In this study, 18 men were given either a placebo or 6-12 mg of anatabine per day for 10 days. They also performed an intense exercise program.
Unfortunately, this noted anatabine did not reduce pain, or swelling or help muscle strength. This is noteworthy, given TV commercials featuring pro golfers John Isner and Fred Couples.
In another exercise study, researchers gave Anatabloc or a placebo to 17 men. The dosage of Anatabloc used was 6-12 mg. While these researchers saw that Anatabloc did not reduce exercise-induced muscle damage, it did appear to reduce markers of inflammation such as C reactive protein (CRP). That is interesting.
Preliminary research suggests anatabine activates NFR2, a substance that raises naturally produced antioxidant defenses such as superoxide dismutase (SOD). This is at the heart of some proposed anti-aging supplements, such as Protandim and PB125.
There are also several lab animals and test-tube studies involving Anatabloc/anatabine. I won't cover them here because we are people and not mice, rats or test tubes.
Summary Of Anatabloc Research
Here is a summary of the Anatabloc human research:
- Anatabine reduced thyroid antibodies in people with hypothyroidism
- Anatabine lowers nicotine levels in smokers
- Anatibine did not reduce muscle damage, pain, or swelling but may lower CPR levels
Anatabloc Questions
Let's now answer some common questions people have asked me about this supplement.
Can Anatabloc help muscle soreness?
Muscle soreness after exercise (DOMS) is very common. Currently, the proof seems to show Anatabloc doesn't reduce muscle soreness, swelling or muscle damage. It may reduce a blood test marker of inflammation called CRP. I think we need more exercise research.
Can Anatabloc Help Concussions?
There is brain inflammation when someone gets a concussion. But there is no proof that taking Anatabloc:
- reduces the risk of getting a concussion
- improves recovery time after getting a concussion
- reduces brain damage from concussions
I cannot find any research involving anatabine and concussions.
In December 2013, the FDA sent a warning letter to Star Scientific – makers of Anatabloc – telling them to remove references on their websites which gave people the impression the supplement might help concussions and other forms of traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
For more on concussions and TBI see these reviews:
Can Anatabloc Help Multiple Sclerosis?
The proof that Anatabloc can help MS is in its infancy. There is some mouse evidence it may help, but no human studies have been conducted yet.
What About Anataboc and Weight Loss?
Websites might discuss how anatabine/Anatabloc can help people lose weight or reduce weight gain, which sometimes happens when people quit smoking. But there is no good proof for this. No study has looked at reducing gaining weight after quitting smoking.
What is CigRx?
This is the anti-smoking product Star Scientific was developing before it began researching anatabine for arthritis pain and other health problems. CigRx contains anatabine too.
Anatabloc Dosage
The general recommendation is to take 2 lozenges per day. Do not use more than 6 lozenges per day. Another dosage recommendations= take your body weight into consideration. Here the Anatabloc dosages would be:
- 100-120 lbs: 2 lozenges 3x per day
- 121-170lbs: 2 lozenges 4x per day
- 171-220lbs: 2 lozenges 5x per day
- over 220lbs: 2 lozenges 6x per day
I've never seen this dosage regimen used in human studies. So, I'm not sure how accurate this is.
Who Makes Anatabloc?
Anatabloc is a product of a company called Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals. Another name for this company is Star Scientific. Star Scientific was the original name of the company. When the research changed directions from looking at Anatabine as a cure for smoking to helping arthritis pain, the company changed its name to Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals.
The phone number for the company was 800-778-2031. The company website was Anatabloc.com (the website no longer works). When this review was originally created, the Better Business Bureau listed the company address as 4470 Cox Rd Ste 110, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
There is also a connection to another company called the RosKamp Institute, located in Florida. Some of the research on Anatabloc has been conducted by this company too.
The company has since filed for bankruptcy and is no longer making Anatabloc supplements.
Should I Invest In Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals?
Star Scientific formally changed its name to Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals in 2014. Its stock symbol is RCPI. It's a publicly traded company. Regardless of what you invest in, do your homework.
Be careful with “gurus” who talk stocks up on websites, as you don't always know who you are dealing with. Sometimes unscrupulous people say things about a company to create interest so they can pump the stock price up so they can dump it for a profit. This trick is sometimes called “pump and dump.” Unless you’re an investing pro (think Warren Buffett), I recommend you talk to a financial advisor before risking any money.
Anatabloc And The FDA
Many people think the FDA does not regulate supplements. Anatabloc is proof it does. Almost from the start, the FDA claimed anatabine contained a new dietary ingredient (NDI). A new dietary ingredient is any substance that was not sold as a supplement before 1994.
Products containing new dietary ingredients need to prove to the FDA they are safe. There is also the issue that anatabine is found in tobacco. Tobacco cannot be called a dietary supplement. I think this may also have played a role in the demise of Anatabloc.
Rock Creek pharmaceuticals state that because anatabine is found in things like peppers and eggplants, it is not new and can be sold as a supplement. In the end, the FDA won, and Rock Creek stopped making Anatabloc.
Calls To Bring Back The Sale Of Anatabloc
Problems with the FDA have not stopped people from hoping for the return of Anatabloc.
This has not stopped people who loved Anatabloc from continuing to hold out hope. Former customers have launched a petition at Change.org to petition the FDA to reverse their decision and let Anatabloc be sold again.
They created the website BringBackAnatabloc.org where you can share your testimony of how the supplement helped you, sign an FDA petition to bring Anatabloc back, and read news about the supplement.
How To Buy Anatabloc: Can You Still Purchase It?
While this supplement was once VERY popular and sold at GNC and other stores, it is no longer permitted to be sold in the US. The FDA forced Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals to stop the production of Anatabloc.
Anatabloc Supplements
While Anatabloc is no longer able to be purchased in the US, I did notice other companies selling supplements said to contain anatabine.
One such company is HydraPharm (PredatorNutrition.com). They sell a supplement literally called “Anatablok” which they say contains “pure anatabine.” Predator Nutrition is not based in the US. I am not sure if they are allowed to ship their Anatablok supplement to the US.
The supplement is marked as an anti-inflammatory nootropic (brain enhancer) used to support memory and attention.
The Va Governor Controversy
As if things could not get worse, Rock Creek Pharm found itself at the center of a very public controversy involving the former Virginia governor, Robert McDonnell, and his wife. It's alleged Rock Creek gave $165,000 in gifts to the former Va governor and his wife in exchange for helping Rock Creek's development of Anatabloc.
Anatabloc Side Effects
Anatabloc is probably safe for healthy people, at least for short-term use. Human research shows no significant negative side effects. Mild to moderate side effects reported have included:
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Headache
- Tingling feelings
- Insomnia
In the comments section below, one person reported feelings of depression. This has not been observed in clinical studies.
Does Anatabloc Work?
Despite the problems with the FDA, several people swore Anatabloc worked. I never experimented with it when it was being sold and the only person I knew who did try it told me it did not reduce his pain. Pain is complicated and its possible others may have had better results.
Unfortunately, Anatabolc supplements are no longer available in the US. While, in the past, I have been rather hard on this supplement and Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals, I was sad it was taken off the market. I am happy to see some human research on anatabine, look forward to more and hope one day to see it sold once again.
I enjoy reading the discussion here, both the reports from people who have benefited from Abloc and the insistence on evidence from human studies. Of course, with all drugs, research starts with animal studies and then progresses to human studies; the latter take time to organize and report; patience is always required.
I began following these conversations because Anatabloc made a dramatic change in my health, as I reported here on February 27.
I have begun to wonder whether there might be nefarious reasons for some of the worst attacks on Abloc. It has occurred to me that the anti-inflammatory market is a very, very big one; For example, I have read that Humira, for rheumatoid arthritis, is the most lucrative medication in the world. Not casing aspersions on that company or any other; it’s just that sometimes, you need to follow the money. Abloc could perhaps hurt some other people’s business big time.
There have been accusations that the lead doctor for research has no connection with Johns Hopkins, when indeed he does. Big headlines about a $15,000 gift of food for a governor’s daughter’s wedding reception–haven’t ever seen gifts THAT big in this election cycle, right?
A lot of short-selling of the stock and possible manipulation of its price. Now, a list of law firms are trying to get plaintiffs for class action suits because the stock price fell. One firm got a lead plaintiff by working with a man who bought the stock in January, held it for one week, and sold it. Many minds are apparently looking for any kind of flaw in management or reporting. Why do so many people care?
Considering how much that medication helped me, it would make me very sad to see it driven off the market.
Carol Albright
Carol, it is an interesting discussion that is for sure. I have a google alert set up for anatabloc and I dont see a lot of negative stuff being published. Im sure if it proves to be as good as the ads say, there will be pharma companies that will try to duplicate it or absorb star scientific. I do hear other similar molecules are in the pipelines of other pharm companies so others appear to be looking at it. so I guess we will have to see what happens.
Carol, I totally agree, it would really upset me to see this “supplement” gone…it’s helped me so much in the almost 3 months…
A Fibro friend saw all my info and has been on it for about a month and she can’t thank me enough for bring ing it to her attention,
Another friend told me yesterday, she deals with skin cancers and feet neuropathy, she was taking the trial and ordered a bottle, she doesn’t spend money quickly…so it’s definitely helping MANY with chronic pain issues. I don’t do conventional drugs for the most part and this has been my saving grace from my last mess of inflammation from hip replacement…
Joe, I may be able to shed some information in the next 2 weeks or so. I’m in my 3rd month using “A” and am feeling some benefit but it could still be placebo effect. Fingernails are not placebo, quite pleased about that. I’m starting a 2 week Gluten free diet to lose 7 to 10 lbs.and will share my results. To new readers, I’m 70 yrs, 6’3″ 230 lbs and currently take “A” 3 times 3 daily for 9 pills total a day. I also take aspirin twice daily. No other drugs.
I, too, am interested in waiting until the latest human study is peer reviewed and published. I found out one year ago that I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, but I’m not yet hypothyroid. I was told it was a matter of time, maybe even decades, until my body destroys my thyroid and then I will go on hormone replacement. I would love to intervene and have my body NOT destroy my thyroid.
If Anatabloc reduces or eliminates the antibodies responsible for destruction… I’d be ecstatic. BUT, I don’t want to trade that possibility for say, mouth cancer, or some other terrible side effect of sucking on a lozenge 8 times a day…..
Jill,
My wife has been dealing with hypothyroidism since 1998. She has been on Levoxyl since then. After starting on Anatabloc in January 2012, her endocrinologist called in July 2012 and said to get onto a weaker dosage (from .88mg down to .75mg) of Levoxyl because the tests showed that her thyroid seemed to be producing more. We are waiting for her next test to see if the trend continues. We wish she could have started on Anatabloc 13 years ago.
By the way, the company now sells an unflavored Anatabloc lozenge that you can swallow with water instead of dissolving in your mouth. Good luck to you in your quest for good heath.
I buy the unflavored, 3 months NOW and still dissolve under tongue, I never heard about swallowing them, for me dissolve under tongue is best…
I was given the Hashi dx back in late 90’s, I am on Armour but taking less…Levo was NOT good in my body.
As far as the burning in mouth, that could be inflammation rearing it’s ugly head and being pulled out of your mouth…another friend went thru that and he’s on his 9th month on Abloc. I never had that burning, as I’ve been on a powerful antioxidant over 17 yrs….so my system may be pretty clean all in all…but lots of OA mess and issues from hip replacement
Joy, Id think that if the mouth burning was due to anatabloc puling inflammation out of the mouth, then Id think everybody would have that side effect. I’m not sure about that one…
The placebo effect is mighty powerful and should not be dismissed. That said, I haven’t read anything here so far that makes me want to deal with the hassle of purchasing Anatabloc. I found considerable relief from joint pain by avoiding all gluten and significantly reducing my consumption of grains and starches. I’ll live with that for a while.
Elizabeth, Placebo effects don’t last 18 months and I haven’t had a sciatic pain or any trouble with my back in that time. That after decades of suffering. I can work and play harder without worry of waking up the next day in pain.
The mechanism of action of Anatabloc is completely different than any other drug, supplement, or diet plan. Good diet is important too, no doubt but imo it’s not enough or at least hadn’t worked for me over the years. If you can afford it and daily cost equates to a retail cup of coffee, it’s worth every cent.
And you know what? Joint pain relief is only a nice to have side effect of Anatabloc. Major joint pain relief proves to me it really is reducing inflammation in my body. Read Time Magazine’s ‘The Fires Within’ regarding chronic inflammation and I think you’ll appreciate more the significance in the ability to safely modulate the inflammation process the way Anatabloc does it. Time’s article describes a number of diseases driven by chronic inflammation with Cardiovascular Disease being the one the scares me the most. It will take decades to prove effectiveness in preventing these big time diseases, I know. I don’t care. I’m taking it now and I use the facial creme too. One thing you will find common throughout all of these comments is that those that have made an honest go of taking it daily at the recommended dosage are staunch supporters of the product because it works. You can easily pick out those that, well let me just say given my own personal experience with it and those of my family & friends, it’s impossible for me to believe it doesn’t work for everyone. Impossible.
BTW, How old are you Joe if you don’t mind me asking? If you’re over 50 as I am, you could do your readers big service by trying it .
Vice, according to Wikipedia, the placebo effect can last as long over 2 years when it comes to arthritis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placebo
I did see the Time magazine inflammation study and its interesting but so far Anatabloc has not been shown to reduce CRP. Im looking forward to more research on this
I am 48, for a wee bit longer…
Hi Joe,
I read your post which included, “so far Anatabloc has not been shown to reduce CRP.”
Not sure if you missed it, but Anatabloc did report positive preliminary data on the question of reducing CRP.
In the Flint, Michigan study, 61% of diabetic subjects on metformin had a CRP reduction, as did 38% of patients representing the general population.
Overall, 42% of subjects had a decrease in CRP after only one month with anatabine supplementation.
Although the sample is small and the final report is in process, the important take-away is this: the late onset diabetics showed a strong statistical trend to have lower CRP with anatabine treatment compared to the non-diabetics.
Thanks Joe!
Hi John, yes I did see that but as you said its “Preliminary data.” As such I can’t consider it. I want to see the data published in a medical/science journal first. That’s my litmus test for supplements.
Joe,
Regarding CRP and Anatabloc’s ability to lower CRP levels in our body, it appears a study was completed in January. The very idea that Anatabloc is being studied this way is encouraging to me. Hopefully we will know something soon with official results.
Study Start Date: May 2011
Study Completion Date: January 2013
Primary Completion Date: January 2013 (Final data collection date for primary outcome measure)
Effect of Anatabine on Elevated Blood Levels of C-reactive Protein
This study has been completed.

Vince, thanks for that. It may have been completed in January but I will still wait for it to be published before I add it to my review.
Vince, I ought to have been more specific. I personally believe in the power of the human spirit, and in the ability to heal based on faith in this power. You obviously have this power within you. Regarding joint pain, its alleviation is of course a sign of reduced inflammation.
But we are unique, and don’t respond to the same substances, which is why the substance might work for you but not for another person. The human mind/body is not uniform in every individual. Something might work for me that doesn’t work for you.
I’m also skeptical about Anatabloc because I’ve always heard that one should stay away from the nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, potatoes) if one has arthritis. In any case, I don’t doubt that it works well, and its wonderful effects should be celebrated.
Boy, was I skeptical on that one too, nightshades, but thank goodness a person kept on me about chronic pain and inflammation and I almost liken it to homeopathic remedy…which the MD’s at Anatabloc says it’s not, but putting something into the body that is suppose to be harmful is what homeopathy is about…I am so glad I took the leap of faith and got these alkaloids into my body…My life has been changing, I’ve been in so much chronic pain from inflammation for the last 3 yrs for sure from hip replacement and all my life prior too with OA and Fibro….
This supp is like nothing else out there…I’ve tried SO MANY but avoid the pharma drugs. j
I emailed you a few months ago and asked about Juvenon. I had mentioned I would fill you in on my Anatabloc experience, as I was going to start taking it. Well, it’s been two months since I have been taking it, and I am impressed.
My right knee is bone-on-bone and my left knee has a torn meniscus and arthritis. About 1 1/2 years ago, I had a cyst behind my left knee, which caused me to favor it. All the favoring started the other problems to act up, and I have spent the entire time having trouble walking, being in a lot of pain, and experiencing substantial stiffness. Cortisone shots did nothing. About 2 weeks after taking Anatabloc, about 80%-90% (depending on the day)of my pain and stiffness disappeared! It is now up to between 90%-100% gone.
My shoulder has an old injury which started hurting again. Some days, I could barely move it. The pain is now completely gone.
I was diagnosed with diabetes in September. While I cannot say for certain that the Anatabloc has lowered my blood sugar levels, the levels did drop quite a bit after I started taking it. I have made other changes, but a drop in my A1c from 9.4 (fairly diabetic) to 6.0 (pre-diabetic) in 6 months, is pretty damn good.
At first I figured it wouldn’t be a big deal to buy one bottle at GNC. I got their Gold Card, which knocks 20% off the price. If it worked, great. If not, I wasn’t signed up to anything. Needless to say, I will continue buying this stuff. I even recommended it to my mom, who has arthritis and rosacea. I’ll let you folks know what her experience is once she starts taking it.
I realize it probably doesn’t work for everyone, but it’s working wonders for me. Well worth the $80/month (though I would not complain if they lowered the price).
Anonymous, thanks for the update!
Death would put me TOTALLY out of pain..but I’m in less pain for all my issues, and talk about “favoring” other parts of the body for one issue or another…I know that one….When I take take LESS pain drugs that is a good thing in my life….
Too bad some management can mess things up in people’s minds, hope the company can turn things around and stay in business for all of us who are getting help with this supp…..
For Connie, read all the positive reviews here and there are Crohns reviews online as well….
What has gone on with management isn’t changing my mind about the “product”…it’s helping too many.
I gave it 2 months, it gave me a little energy and dizzy in the beginning. No pain relief from sciatica whatsoever. I really wanted to believe, but my pain level is better since stopping it. 200 bucks down the drain!
Jim, thanks for the feedback. sorry anatabloc didn’t work for you.
Wow… what an impressive thorough review. I am a 51yo female with a lifelong problem & struggle with Crohns. Over the years you see & hear of all kinds of “cures”. I’ve become skeptical. Thank goodness. I saw this product & looked online to find your review. So glad I did. I believe you saved me from spending my money & wasting my time on something that could possibly hurt me. We need more people like you helping others. God bless & thank you.
Connie, thanks much, you are very kind to say that. Much appreciated.
Sadly mis-management and corruption reigns loudly is SO MUCH…I hope the company can work it out and keep producing the product, I’m in with it, rather this than the pain med drugs….so many with chronic inflammatory pain and SO MANY of the frigging drugs….
You can count me among the disbelievers. After 3 weeks I found no improvement. Hard to believe the miracle cures posted here. Especially the instant relief of chronic problems. Strange that Anatabloc could be such a dramatic fix to some and leave others unaffected. Wish it would have worked for me but must say, after seeing the financial mess the companies gotten themselves into (class action lawsuit, Fed Attorney investigation, etc.) it isn’t too surprising. Good luck to those who say it’s the real thing.
Ken,
Are you the same Ken that wanted to know more about lab analysis (what is in Anatabloc) and was posting about Tumeric? In any case, you might want to know: for some people, it takes more than 3 weeks. Jimmy Arias (former world #5 tennis player) publicly stated that it took more than a month before he started feeling less pain. Everyone’s body chemistry is different. Good luck with your quest for pain-free living.
I’m the same Ken that posted the lab analysis questions but not the Tumeric statement. I tried Tumeric last year with no positive results. I realize that 2 posters can use the same name. Anatabloc produced a sort of numbness/burning sensation in my mouth and tongue. After about 6 days with no pills the sensation is almost gone. I doubt if I’ll start again.
Tramadol and acetaminophen work well at my current dosage which I limit to only 50% of the max for these two drugs. But I am happy for those that get relief from Anatabloc and hope it continues to help them.
Joe, I’m happy for John and Jenn, but I’m in my 3rd bottle of *A* and can’t share their excellent results. As mentioned before, I’m 6’3″, 230 lbs and could lose a few lbs (maybe 15-20) but have not noticed any change in my weight.
Pain seems somewhat less but that still could be placebo effect and not enough relief to give credit to ^A^. I’ll keep reporting my results.
Jay, thanks for your continued updates!
I appreciate this discussion; very interesting. We just discovered Anatabloc and all I can tell you that my son had a dislocated shoulder taking Kung Fu classes and because he is going to school to be a Court Reporter, had to miss 3 months of school. His Dr said it probably has scare tissue and had become arthritic because the pain just wouldn’t go away. He has now started back to school but has been living on Ibuprofen on school days so he can type. We tried Anatabloc on Wednesday.
He took 2 tablets in the morning and said he was able to type all morning pain free! He started to have some pain by mid day, took 2 more tablets and said he got through class with no issues and in fact passed his recording test to a new speed level without pain. He said it is really the first time this has happened since he shoulder was dislocated and very much wants to keep trying it.
My husband bought it from GNC to play golf with. He is a physical therapist (58 years old) and has trouble getting through 18 holes without pain in his back even though he carefully stretches out and does yoga. He took two Anatabloc before he left to go play golf, 2 more mid-way through and 2 more as he finished the 18th. He said it was extremely effective.
Normally he has had to take up to 6 Ibuprofen to get through his game these days, but really got more relief from Anatabloc he said than he ever gets from the Ibuprofen. He is happy because all he wants is to be able to play a full 18 holes of golf without pain.
I’ve had the same experience. Anatabloc saved my golf game when I started taking it last summer. Otherwise, my lower back pain takes the fun out of the game. I’m 55.
Joe –
I’m now three weeks into this regimen and it has made a thorough believer out of me, major improvement across the board with no discernible side effects.
A question for you – one of the benefits which a number of posters has noted has been a pleasant surprise in the form of weight loss. I have noticed myself that it is easier to keep off the pounds. You suggested at one point that it might be that additional activity may be facilitated by reduction in pain. I feel like my metabolism is cranked up a notch; I definitely have more energy, and I suspect that might be the cause for burning more calories. I am wondering if this may be related to anatabine’s effect on the thyroid activity – do you know of any discussion to this point?
You are doing a great job monitoring this thread.
John, thats an interesting point I had not considered. Id imagine its possible if the reduced thyroid inflammation resulted in more thyroid hormone being produced. I am especially looking forward to anatabloc- thyroid research being published.
I really appreciate you saying that john – thanks very much 🙂
John, We no longer use the term “believers”, my husband and I are living examples of 2 years today on anatabine, taking Anatabloc since Oct 2011.
Your theory about weight loss and thyroid impact is very interesting. I have lost weight without trying and my husband has lost over 60 lbs, walks upright without lower back pain and kicked an nasty oxy-condone dependence. His thyroid numbers are now perfect and CRP number from 5 to less than 0.5.
I had botched lower back surgery and the chronic pain is about 20% of what it was. Arthritis pain in my hands ….good again for needlepoint and tatting. I make an aloe concoction with crushed Anatabloc for a rash on my legs.
Gail –
That’s really good to hear, I’m happy for both of you. The anecdotal evidence is piling up, now we just need to hear from the experts to validate what we already know. My primary interest in those studies now is less confirmation of benefits – I have that – than it is any evidence of damage which might not be obvious to us yet. I am certainly not seeing any at this juncture, but it’s early days.
I bought STSI. It was at the advice of a friend. It went down. I thought I would sell. I have battled spondylolisthesis since I was 22. It hit me, why not try it? I own the stock and I have chronic inflammation. Two weeks ago I was struggling every morning and having moments I thought my back was going to go out. It’s sudden and brutal. I can’t walk after.
Crawl to the bed kind of deal. Since starting Antabloc I have seen significant improvement. I get up with I would say 75% improvement and I have no sudden twitches in my back as if it is about to go out. . I am very convinced this stuff works. Enough so, I am putting my money where my mouth is. I have no intention to sell this stock. It is not snake oil. If so, snake oil significantly improves pain related to spondylolisthesis. 🙂
Lucius, omg, I deal with spondy also and probably since 18 and it’s gotten WORSE with age…plus I have other OA and Fibro and a mess from hip surgery inflammation…
I’m 74 and “A” is helping me, how much more it will help down the road, remains to be known…how long you taking “A” now and about how old are you….I think the older and longer term conditions, the longer it will take to “FEEL” much better….I also deal with spinal stenosis all from hip replacement surgery…..
I have done other protocols over the years and the hip surgery did me in 2.5 yrs ago and HOPING upon HOPE with more and more time “A” will make things improve more…
So how long you been taking it, I’m almost 3 months on Anatabloc. j
I just bought a bottle of Anatabloc. Have sciatic nerve pain which was intense. I’m an aerobics instructor & personal trainer & am 80 years of age. Within two days of taking 2 tablets 3 times daily I feel relief. Hard to believe, but it’s true.
Florence, thanks and Im glad it helped you! As a personal trainer, I think you might also like my personal site Joe-Cannon.com
The jury is still out for me on Anatabloc; however, I did plop down the $$ to check it out. My results are a mixed bag of finding some knee pain relief, but nothing significant with my lower back.
I have a history of arthritic changes in my lower back; I was involved in a helicopter crash in ’93 and had spinal stab. surgery with retained harriman rods (Stainless), as well as a cervical discectomy in ’98 that was related to the helicopter crash in ’93.
I’ve had steroidal pain injections for my lower back, which have seemed to help, but one of the warnings I was given is that the injections, over time, provide a declining pain reducing benefit and can cause additional scarring. So I stopped having the injections in 2006.
I’ve tried “BlueStuff”, DMSO, and other related pain reducing treatments, but so far nothing has really worked to reduce pain and inflammation. My lower back pain I think, is more of a stability/weakness issue, as opposed to actual arthritis pain, although I do get arthritic pain in my back, most of the time I think it is muscular and stability issues.
I am glad I tried the Anatabloc, as it does seem to relieve my knee pain (20 years in the Army will do that) but I haven’t trusted it enough to start doing impact exercise again.
I wanted to also commend you on an excellent review; appreciate your thoroughness
Kevin, thanks for your thoughts and kind words – and for the 20 years you put into helping Defend the US! It really means a lot to me that you did that.
Thanks Joe, I appreciate that
kevin, anytime 🙂
Kevin, you don’t say how long you are on it. I’m into my 3rd month and I’m getting results enough to continue. I have a lot of structural mess too after a hip replacement 2.5 yrs ago so the structure stuff is horrible…but the inflammation around all the structure is what I am finding relief….
I do other stuff too and just recently decided to stick with 2-3T of coconut oil daily which has many healing properties..lots of info online about C.O.
For me, NOT taking pharma drugs and epidurals is worth gold…this is my feeling on it all. One decides how to spend their money. Good luck.
Joy – I’ve been using the Anatabloc for about 2 months, but I wouldn’t say I’ve stuck to the regimen very strictly; only when I notice the pain bothering me from working. I will say that once I put the tablets in my mouth, within a couple of minutes, I can tell a difference with my knees.
Anatabloc is being tested more than any supplement I have ever seen, by respected institutions. The studies in mice, and now moving to humans, has been impressive. Personally, I don’t care about these studies as a guideline to my using AnataBloc. I have used it for two years now, and can honestly say that it has alleviated problems from a rotator cuff/ collar bone injury, alleviated to a great degree a life long allergy/asthma condition, and has generally made my mood better, probably because I feel better.
Other testimonials to other diseases, conditions, I cannot validate, but can believe because of my experience. After two years of use, the only side effect that I would consider, is that you may need to hydrate a little more than you have. I am 57 years old, I’m a small time investor, and own a small stake in the company because I believe in the product.
Interesting stuff. I come from a family of tobacco smokers, dating back to before Columbus and have been told that I would not achieve my “Full developmental potential” until I stated smoking. I am in my 7th decade of life and still have not smoked. Since anatabine is chemically similar to nicotine maybe there is something there I should look into. Incidentally, it is my understanding that uncured tobacco is not carcenogenic, any truth to that?
Anon.
Anon, I have no idea about the carcinogenic potential of uncured tobacco. That’s pretty funny about the “full developmental potential” – Im glad you never smoked. It was the best thing you could do for yourself.
Anon, this is a little off topic but yes, since you asked, uncured tobacco is/was always NON carcinogenic. Star’s “Star-cure” tobacco curing process took a modern (patented) approach, casting aside the widespread use of hot exhaust fumes in the curing barn, emphasizing (among other factors) “clean” air flow instead. Hot exhaust gasses create an anaerobic environment that breeds the formation of carcinogenic “tobacco-specific nitro-samines” (TSNA’s) on the leaf. That makes the cured tobacco deadly.
I’m still on my second bottle of anatabloc and have increased my dosage to 3x 3x a day for 9 pills total. I still need the aspirin 2x a day but do feel better with the anatabloc. Could still be placebo. I’m 70 years, 6’3, 230 lbs.and not connected to the Company in any way. Just trying to share my experiences. This Board could reflect the human tests. It helps when people give weight and dosage so we have a gauge. One effect that I can verify is that my fingernails are stronger and longer than any other time in my life. It has to be related to anatabloc.
Fingernails, I’m filing them every other day….
I’m about 165 and take most days 6-7, today I’ll take 8 I think…Still take 2 advil Am and PM before bed, no Tylenol and a 1/2 vicodin as needed depending on my day’s activities,,I’m 75 this yr…yikes…
Prior to Anatabloc last year I took 6 advil per day, Tylenol Arthritis too, and 1/2 vic as needed….so I’ve decreased pain meds…that is good.
Joe, I just posted a reply and notice my screen name ended up being a string of letters and numbers instead of Ken. I had no reason to do that so you can change that post to my name if you’d like. Apparently your site does not insure that a single email can only have one screen name. I’ll watch what’s in the Name box before posting anymore comments.
Ken, I fixed it. As far as I know that’s never happened before.
Chris, what gives you the impression that half are anatabloc employees, I never got that impression, I agree some own stock in the company, I’ve looked at it but I’m not a stock buyer….I’m totally retired after 40 yrs of working and living on a fairly low income, and believe me I would NOT spend $80/month for an anti inflammatory if it isn’t helping me….prior to “A”, I was taking 6 advil per day, arthritis tylenol and 1/2 vicodin as needed..now I’m still taking 4 advil, no tylenol and the vic as needed but less….am I totally out of pain, NO, but got rid of some nasty messy pain I’ve had for the last 2 yrs since a hip replacement that pushed me into a Load Of Pain…been thru so many protocols since including 16 sessions of acupuncture which helped but finding this supp in Jan this year has been short of a miracle…I may not see my rheumy again this yr….
I work for No One….but I did for 40 yrs had many bosses…but I’m my BOSS now….joy
