In TV commercials, football great, Joe Theismann has said his “aging prostate was giving me fits” until he started taking Super Beta Prostate, after which, he said, “now I don’t have to go to the bathroom as often and I usually sleep through the night.” TV commercials featuring actor, William Devane have said similar stuff. TV commercials also state that Super Beta Prostate is the “number 1 non-prescription formula for prostate health.” That's nice but, does it really work? In this Super Beta Prostate review, I'm going to disregard what the paid actors say and look for research on this supplement because this is the best way to know if it really works. By the end of this review, you'll have a better idea of whether Super Beta Prostate is right for you.

According to TV commercials and other ads, Super Beta Prostate is said to help men in these areas

Super Beta Prostate Ingredients
When I looked, the website for the product (betaprostate.com) did not tell how much of each ingredient it contained but fortunately, NewVitality.com did show the ingredient amounts.
That site indicates that 1 Bottle of Super Beta Prostate contains 30 capsules. A serving is 2 capsules. So, 1 bottle will last 15 days. 1 bottle of super beta prostate contains the following ingredients

Other Ingredients
Super Beta Prostate also contains these ingredients: Stearic Acid, Micro Crystalline Cellulose, Oyster Shell, Croscarmellose Sodium, Magnesium Stearate, Pharmaceutical Glaze. As far as I can tell, these other ingredients play no role in how the product works.
The product also contains Shellfish (Oyster) & Soy which may be of interest to those who are allergic to these ingredients.
Beta Prostate Research
Clinical studies conducted specifically on Super Beta Prostate cannot be located. No clinical research specifically on this supplement are not listed on either BetaProstate.com or NewVitality.com. Clinical databases such as Pubmed.gov reveal no research either.
While this supplement has several minerals and vitamins that – in theory- might help “support” prostate health, I'm not convinced most men are deficient in any of these nutrients (with the exception of maybe vitamin D). As such, I won't factor them into this review.
Instead, let's look at the research on the 2 ingredients in Super Beta Prostate I feel have the most prostate research. Those ingredients are:
- Beta-sitosterol
- Pygeum Bark (no longer listed on the product label)
If we can see the research on these ingredients, we can better determine if super beta prostate works or not.
Beta-Sitosterol
Beta-sitosterol (Serenoa repens) is the main ingredient in Super Beta Prostate. It's from this ingredient that the “beta” in “Super Beta Prostate” comes from. This ingredient specifically mentioned during TV commercials, which also makes us know its the key ingredient:
Two capsules of SBP contain 600 mg of Beta-sitosterol. This is a dosage similar to those used in clinical studies.
How Does Beta-Sitosterol Work?
The herb, saw palmetto contains beta-sitosterol. This ingredient can inhibit an enzyme that can contribute to enlarged prostates (BPH). That enzyme is called 5 alpha-reductase.
By inhibiting this enzyme, beta-sitosterol reduces levels of DHT – dihydrotestosterone. DHT plays a role in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), a medical condition where the cells of the prostate gland grow in size. This condition can make it difficult for men to urinate.
Several studies have noted beta-sitosterol can improve symptoms of BPH.
For example, researchers in Germany noted beta-sitosterol was more effective at improving BPH symptoms than placebo after 18 months of use.
Researchers in the US have also noted beta-sitosterol improved urine flow in men with BPH symptoms.
Several showing positive results have used dosages of between 100-400 mg of beta-sitosterol. Super Beta Prostate provides more than this – 600 mg – in each 2 capsule serving.

Pygeum Bark
Pygeum Bark (Pygeum africanumno) longer is listed on the Super Beta Prostate Label. I'll leave this section in case your supplement contains it. Pygeum has anti-inflammatory properties and may – in theory- play a role in slowing prostate growth. Pygeum also appears to inhibit 5 alpha-reductase enzyme-like beta-sitosterol does – reducing DHT levels.
So does it work? Researchers in France, after reviewing 25 years of previous investigations noted pygeum was “an effective and exceptionally well-tolerated treatment for mild and moderate symptomatic BPH.”
Researchers in the US, have also stated pygeum may be effective, although the authors felt more and better studies needed to be done.
Other research hints pygeum may slow the growth of the prostate too.
While pygeum no longer appears to be in Super Beta Prostate, clinical studies showing successful results have used to 100 – 200 mg per day
Does Super Beta Prostate Reduce Prostate Size?
There is no evidence Super Beta Prostate can reduce the size of the prostate. Research notes beta-sitosterol cannot do this although some research hints pygeum might.
Does Super Beta Prostate Lower PSA Levels?
One sign of prostate cancer is higher PSA levels. Saw palmetto does not seem to reduce PSA values. If you try this supplement, it might be a good idea to test your PSA levels before starting Super Beta Prostate and inform your urologist you are using this supplement also.
Your doctor and/or pharmacist can shed more light on this supplement as well as its effects on PSA and other prostate tests you may be getting.

What is ProstaFend?
On the P3 Advanced label, ProstaFend is listed separately from the other ingredients. Yet, on the SuperBeta3p.com website, they give the impression ProstaFend is composed of plant sterols, lycopene, and reishi mushroom. But, if that's true, why is it listed separately? Also, the dosages don't add up.
If ProstaFend is made up of 600 mg plant sterols + 15 mg lycopene +6 mg of reishi mushroom, this adds up to 621 mg total. Yet, the supplement lable says there is 624 mg of ProstaFend.
From the SuperBeta3p.com website, they call it the “cornerstone” of P3 Advanced. That's nice but I'd like more info on what this is. FYI ProstaFend is a trademarked word. There is no such nutrient called ProstaFend.
As for Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum), as pointed out in my Reishi mushroom review, there is 1 study showing 6 mg of reishi improved urin flow in men with prostate problems. This is exactly the dosage in Advanced Super Beta Prostate P3. That's good.
So, is Advanced P3 Super Beta Prostate Better? It's hard to say because clinical studies that compare them to each other cannot be located.
Super Beta P3 Advanced costs a bit more than regular Super Beta Prostate. A 30 day supply is $42.95 +6.99 Shipping/Handling ($49.94 total).
Who Makes Super Beta Prostate?
Super Beta Prostate is a product of a company called New Vitality. The website is NewVitality.com. The parent company is called NAC Marketing Company, LLC. Another name is NAC Vitamin Company.

Super Beta Prostate is likely very safe in most people. For those who have health issues, here are some things to consider. This list is not complete:
- Start with less for the first week
- Stop taking at least 2 weeks before having surgery
- Speak to your doctor if you take any blood thinner medications
- Speak to your doctor if you take any prostate medicine
- Beta-sitosterol may cause erection problems and lower sex drive in some men. It's rare but some have reported it. Others might not notice any difference.
Does Super Beta Prostate Work?
The ingredients make sense and it does appear the supplement contains dosages of key ingredients used in research. Several people I know have told me this supplement helped them sleep better by reducing the times they go to the bathroom at night. For men with prostate problems, this may be a supplement worth trying out.
I have been taking this product for two weeks have seen no improvement actually. Worse would. Not recommend this product it is garbage.
William, sorry you have not been seeing any improvement with SBP. While that a part of me would say give it a few more weeks, the fact that you said you feel worse, makes me want to not say that. I wish I had some advice for you that could help.

my psa went up to 9.3 lately whereas before it has been 4.5 on an average over many many years.
I found in the Medical Reference Guide for Essential Oils to use a ratio of 1 T of Pumpkin oil, with 10 drops of Young Living Frankincense, 5 drops of Myrrh and 3 drops of Sage oil as a rectal infusion nightly, approx 2 -3 ml, and also to apply a few drops between the anus and the scrotum. I have found the purity of the oil to differ between processors/companies, and have experienced Dr Young’s oversight to be respected.
I have also used Saw Palmetto oil or olive oil as a base for the essential oils.
It is helping as there are few urgent demands to urinate even though i have increased my water intake twice as much daily. The results will be evident in the next blood draw for a psa read. The mind produces very costly chemistries as one considers that every organ is like a wineskin to contain joy and thankfulness.

See a good urologist. I had a urethral stricture repaired. My brother had his prostate trimmed around the inside with a laser thus reducing the constriction on his urethra. He was catheterizing 4 times a day but now has no problem urinating. These supplements work no better than a placebo according to doctors I’ve talked to. Good luck.
It is a serious problem of mine. I started research today and by coincidence your article is the first one I read. A customer of mine was raving about SBP. He said that a friend of his was using it and it works well. I’m not ready to start cathing, however I need to do something. I will see where my research takes me and I will check back here for further info.

i used this product also for about a year. It seemed to work for me, I didn’t get up going to the bathroom at night and it seemed to prolong erection and like another commenter noted it was hard to ejaculate, which was good because I was able to satisfy my spouse longer, she’d have multiple orgasms before I got one or just tired and laid down.
I used Super Beta Prostate and felt that it decreased getting up at night but after about four years I started having difficulty thinking clearly. My mind raced, I couldn’t focus, and I was driving dangerously. At time I slurred words and was agitated and angry.
I read that excess copper can cause these symptoms and SBP has copper in it. Within a week or so after I stopped using it my symptoms cleared up and three months later I am fine. It was scary!

My urologist is very opposed to supplements that have not undergone rigorous clinical trials…just don’t know what’s in them. I have BPH and he just put me on FloMax. It doesn’t reduce the size of the prostate but DOES relax the muscles in it surrounding the urethra allowing for better flow. I’m just starting it now after having a stricture repaired in my urethra in my “straddle” zone….injured as a kid from coming down on the bar on my bike once too often, we think. Skateboarders……GET OFF THOSE HAND RAILS!!!!!!
My friend started sbp 4 days ago following instruction for taking 3 pills per day. He stopped today as he is now urinating every hour. Is this normal

When I was about 40, I had extremely serious prostrate problems. My Urologist gave me some meds for a few months to lower the swelling (he said it was three times the size it should have been at that age), but STRONGLY urged me to take zinc and vit. E supplements which have continued for over 30 years.
I am now 72, with no problems. His words were “We don’t know what the hell they do, but we find them in every health prostrate we look at.” It would not reduce the swelling, but I strongly encourage all males over about 35 to talk to their Urologist about this treatment. Lynn

I used SBP for about two years and had modest results. Due to the trick or treat attitude of New Vitality I changed to Prostavar two months ago. I have and no perceived benefit from this supplement at all, so one would have to consider the other ingredients in the packages.
Also consideration probably should be given to the quality of the two main ingredients. I had to start cathing about three years ago (problem with emptying) and with SBP, and beside natural urination , it was one or two times a day, but with Prostavar it is double that and no natural urination. I am about to bite the bullet and reorder SBP.
