Update 7/10/20. Plexus Slim is billed as an “affordable weight management product” that boasts “no ill side effects” based on “extensive clinical research.” Impressive, but does PlexusSlim work or is it a scam? And does it really have no side effects? I was tipped off to Plexus Slim by one of the readers of this website. After looking at its ingredients, I wanted to write a review of Plexus Slim because of the words used to describe the product and because Plexus Slim seemed to have ingredients that I have never heard of before. Let's see what we can discover about this weight loss drink. Also read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +) and Plexus Boost, Plexus ProBio5 and Plexus Hunger Control after you read this, for additional information.
Update: The formula for Plexus Slim was changed a bit since this review was written so also read the review of the new plexus slim formula.
Who Makes Plexus Slim?
According to the Better Business Bureau, the company that makes Plexus Slim – Plexus Worldwide Inc. – was started in 2005 in Arizona. The address of the company is 7440 E. Karen Dr. #400, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.
Update. PlexusWorldWide.com, the company website, now lists this corporate address: 15649 N. Greenway Hayden Loop Scottsdale, AZ 85260. Googling this address shows a large building that says “Plexus Slim” on the outside. That's good.

Update. The Better Business Bureau now lists this address for the company: 9145 E Pima Center Pkwy Scottsdale, AZ 85258-4627
The BBB gives Plexus Slim a rating of “A+” See the BBB file for updates and other information.
To buy Plexus Slim it looks like you either have to buy it from the company or through a PlexusSlim distributor. They call Plexus Slim distributors “Ambassadors“. On the Plexus Slim website, they have a calendar of Plexus Slim events.
These events serve not only to sell Plexus Slim but also to recruit new Ambassadors. Plexus Slim has a multi-level marketing (MLM) aspect to it.
I have no problem with MLM. If the product is reputable, MLM allows people to make an income which can be significant.
Plexus Slim Nutrition Information
In an effort to keep this review up to date, here are the ingredients in Plexus Slim as they appeared in 2016. According to the label shown on the product website, each packet of Plexus Slim has the following nutrition information and ingredients:
| Ingredient | Amount Per Serving | Percent Daily Value |
|---|---|---|
| Calories | 10 calories | |
| Total Carbohydrdate | 3 grams | 1% DV |
| Chromium Polynicotinate | 200 micrograms | 167% DV |
| Plexus Slim Blend (composed of the following) | 530 mg | N/A |
| Garcinia Cambogia Fruit Extract | ||
| Green Coffee Bean Extract | ||
| Alpha Lipoic Acid |
In the table above, N/A means no daily value established.
Each of the ingredients will be summarized below. I will leave in the summaries of the ingredients present in the original plexus slim formula too to help others doing their own research.
See the review of the new plexus slim formula too.
Plexus Slim Ingredients
Polydextrose
This is a type of soluble fiber. In theory, this might help weight loss since it has no calories and is a type of fiber. Polydextrose might cause gas and bloating.
Citric Acid
In some products, citric acid is used as a preservative and to enhance flavor. While it naturally occurs in citrus fruits, its use in foods/ supplements may be from natural or synthetic means.
Beet Root
If Plexus Slim uses the entire beetroot, the fiber content of the beetroot might help foster some weight loss because it adds bulk to the stomach contents. That said, I can't locate any evidence that beetroot helps people lose weight. The product label states the beetroot is to give the product color. Beets do have a red color. Beetroot probably contributes to the pink color of the product.
Beets and beetroot juice have gotten attention from the scientific community because of their ability to raise nitric oxide, a compound that can relax blood vessels, allowing blood to more easily travel through the body. See my review of SuperBeets for more on this topic.
Grape Skin Extract
Grape skin contains phytonutrients such as proanthocyanidins and proanthocyanidins which act as antioxidants. While this is very good, does grape skin extract help people lose weight? Other than having some fiber (which might act as a laxative) I can't find any proof that it does.
Update. I'm told Plexus Slim no longer contains grape skin extract
Lo Han Extract
The scientific name for this ingredient is Siraitia grosvenorii. This is also called “lou han guo” and “monk fruit.” By either name, it's often used as a sweetener. This ingredient, like steveia below, is likely added for flavoring.
Stevia
This is a sweetener. Some supplement companies may call it by another name -“rebaudioside A.”
Stevia is added to many low-calorie foods. In theory, using low calorie (or no-calorie) sweeteners might help weight loss but I'm not sure if this is the answer. There are MANY low-calorie foods and beverages on the US market, yet Americans are not slimmer than they were, say, in the 1980s.
Natural Flavors
They don't tell us what these natural flavors are. To be fair, most companies don't. They don't have to under the law. Regardless, I doubt any of them play a role in weight loss.
Green Coffee Bean
This is also called Chlorogenic Acid. One study published in 2010 noted that chlorogenic acid helped weight loss and increased fat burning when in rats that were fed a high-fat diet (37% of calories from fat).
This is interesting even though it's a rat study. Another rat study also noted that mulberries (which also contain chlorogenic acid) helped the weight loss. But was it the chlorogenic acid – or all the other stuff mulberries?
In one small study 16 overweight people were given either a placebo or different amounts of green coffee extract (which contains chlorogenic acid) at either 700 mg or 1050 mg day for 6 weeks (each person was given each treatment for 6 weeks).

People getting the green coffee extract (both dosage amounts) were shown to have significant reductions in body weight, body mass and percent body fat compared to placebo. The type of green coffee extract used in this study was supplied by Applied Food Sciences Inc.
Retracted
It sounds great BUT, the study has been “retracted.” This means it should not be considered as evidence due to errors with how the study was performed. In the words of the authors, the study was retracted because the authors could not “assure the validity of the data.” Click here to read the retraction.
See the Green Bean Coffee Review for more information.
See the weight loss supplement scam review.
Rosmarinic Acid
This is a plant chemical found in many herbs, including rosemary. This is probably where Rosmarinic Acid gets its name from. Rosmarinic acid has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I was unable to find any studies showing that Rosmarinic Acid helps weight loss in humans or animals.
Hydroxycinnamic Acid
This compound is an antioxidant but whether or not it contributes to weight loss needs further study.
Garcinia Cambogia
This was originally called “Citrin K” when I first reviewed Plexus Slim. Garcinia cambogia is found in MANY weight loss supplements because of some research that it might reduce appetite and help weight loss. Right now, I think all anyone can say is maybe it works or maybe it doesn't work.
In this study, 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia did not help people lose weight. I mention this because if this study is correct, then it might take more than 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia if it's going to work. The entire proprietary blend in Plexus Slim adds up to 530 mg. While Garcinia Cambogia is the first ingredient listed – which presumably means it makes up the most of the blend – how much that equates to, I cannot say.
See the Garcinia Cambogia review
Also, read the review of supplements linked to liver failure.
Alpha-lipoic Acid
This is an antioxidant and it helps it turn carbs into energy. It can also help regenerate other antioxidants, which is pretty snazzy.
There are a few studies of alpha-lipoic acid and weight loss. In one study, alpha-lipoic acid was randomly given to 360 obese people for 20 weeks. Half got a placebo and half got alpha-lipoic acid (either 1200 mg/day or 1800 mg per day). Those getting alpha-lipoic acid lost more weight than those who got the placebo. Basically, people lose about 2% of their body mass.
In another study, 1127 overweight people were given 800 mg of alpha-lipoic acid a day for 4 months. This study noted that alpha-lipoic acid, at the dosage given, helped people lose about 8% of their body weight over 4 months.
So if you were 200 pounds, alpha lipoic acid might help you lose about 200 x .08 = 16 pounds. That is a significant amount in my book.
One possible problem with this study though was that it doesn't appear that there was a placebo group to compare the weight loss too. I was also unable to determine (because I only read the summary of the study) if people combined alpha-lipoic acid with eating fewer calories (I think they might have ).
Alpha-lipoic acid is the last ingredient listed in the proprietary blend. As such, it likely makes up the least of the 530 mg total.
Oxypregnane Steroidal Glycoside
This is a pretty fancy name but you have heard of this stuff before. Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside – is just a fancy way of saying Hoodia! Here is a study that proves that both names mean the same thing.
I think they call it Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside because they are trying to make the product sound different and special. In reality, it's just hoodia Gordonii.
The other fancy name for hoodia is P57AS3 – you have probably seen this listed in other supplements as “P57“.
I've already reviewed hoodia and weight loss. Other supplements that I've reviewed previously that contain hoodia include the
For at least 10 years, hoodia Gordonii has been in more weight loss supplements than you can shake a stick at – but there is no good proof that hoodia supplements help people lose weight.
Study. Researchers gave hoodia or a placebo to 50 overweight people for 2 weeks. The people in the study were allowed to eat as much as they wanted from a menu provided by the researchers. Results: hoodia did not cause any weight loss.
While no serious side effects were reported, researchers did note that people who got hoodia had higher blood pressures and heart rates compared to people who got the placebo. Hoodia also seems to cause elevations in bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase. What caused these changes I do not know.
Update. Plexus slim no longer contains hoodia. See my review on the New Plexus Slim Formula for more info on how it has changed.
Chromium Polynicotinate
Plexus slim contains a type of chromium they call “amino nicotinate”. This is fancy talk for “chromium nicotinate”. (it is now called “chromium polynicotinate on the label).
You may have heard Dr. Oz talk about chromium polynicotinate on TV. I reviewed what Dr Oz had to say about this form of chromium and I am guessing that this is why Plexus Slim includes chromium nicotinate over the sometimes more popular, chromium picolinate.
Chromium may help lower blood sugar levels but as for its effects on weight loss, I am highly skeptical. For more on chromium, see my reviews of chromium weight loss research and chromium polynicotinate.
Blood Sugar Lowering Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients might reduce blood sugar:
- Alpha-lipoic acid
- Chromium nicotinate (now called chromium polynicotinate)
Fiber Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients all might add fiber to Plexus Slim:
- Polydextrose
- Grape skin (no longer in plexus slim) See my review of the new PS formula.
- Hoodia (maybe. no longer in Plexus Slim)
How Much Does Plexus Slim Cost?
One of the slogans for Plexus Slim is “At last, an affordable weight management product.” I guess that depends on how you define “affordable”. On the Plexus Slim website, they have different prices depending on whether you want to buy it just once or be billed each month automatically.
If you want to buy Plexus Slim one time only, its $84.95. If you want to be billed automatically at the 15th of each month, Plexus Slim is $79.95/ month.
Is Plexus Slim OK When Breast-Feeding?
Some women have wondered if they can take Plexus Slim while they are breastfeeding? That's not something I would recommend because if any of the ingredients in Plexus Slim pass into breast milk, then their baby will be getting those ingredients too.
I don't know for sure if any of the ingredients do get absorbed into breast milk, so I do recommend that women take the ingredients in Plexus Slim to their doctor to see if they can get a better answer.
How Much Caffeine?
The Plexus Slim Nutrition label states that it has less than 2% of naturally occurring caffeine. My guess is that the caffeine comes from the green coffee bean extract because this statement is listed next to the green coffee bean ingredient on the label. I'm not sure how much 2% natural caffeine equals.
Plexus Slim and ADHD
Since writing this review I've heard that this product may be marketed to help Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). A search on Google reveals several testimonials from people saying that it helps. I became curious and searched for “Plexus ADHD research.” I searched Google for this phrase and I also searched the National Library of Medicine too.
I saw no clinical studies on this topic. Therefore, whether it Plexus helps ADHD or not is unknown as far as I can tell. Nobody appears to have undertaken the chore of taking this stuff into the lab and actually tried to really see if it helps or not.
The same thing also seems to be true for bipolar disorder and depression. I cannot find any evidence Plexus Slim directly helps either of these conditions either.
Having said that, lack of evidence doesn't necessarily mean something does not work. Rather, it just means that it seems that, other than testimonials (from people most of us don't know), there doesn't seem to be any good proof for it yet.
How To Contact Plexus Slim
PlexusWorldWide lists this contact phone number: 480-998-3490 which people can call 6 AM-6 PM (PST) Monday -Friday and 9 AM-2 PM (PST) on Saturday.
How To Return Plexus Slim
Plexus Slim products come with a 60-day money-back guarantee. For those who purchased from Plexus Ambassadors, contact that person for details on how to return the product, or call the company itself at 480-998-3490.
Does Plexus Slim Have Any Side Effects?
On the Q and A page of the Plexus Slim website (question 7) where it's asked: “Will Plexus Slim interfere or react with any medications or other supplements?” the makers say: ” No. Extensive clinical research has demonstrated no ill side effects with any medications or other supplements.”
Where is all the “extensive clinical research” on Plexus Slim? As far as I can tell, Plexus Slim has NEVER been tested in published studies to see if it interacts with any medication or health condition.
The only study I've seen on Plexus Slim is a summary of a study they show on their website. This is a study from 2008 where they gave the product to 8 people with type II diabetes. Yes, improvements were seen in blood sugar, body weight and other things, but this is not a published, peer reviewed study. As such, there is a lot we are not told about how this study was conducted. It may be the best study in the world, but if we can't see how it was conducted, then it can't be duplicated by other scientists.
That said, in healthy people, I think Plexus Slim (the pink drink product) is safe. Below are some theoretical side effects based on its ingredients.
Grape skin. Some components of grape skin might interfere with medications such as Coumadin (a blood thinner). I'm not aware of any human evidence of this, but because blood thinners can intact with many things, its best to talk to a doctor about this. Update. grape skin is no longer in plexus slim
Chlorogenic acid. This compound might raise homocysteine levels in humans. Homocysteine is a somewhat controversial molecule because some feel it might be linked to heart disease.
See my review of chlorogenic acid for more info.
Citrin K/ Garcinia cambogia. There is some controversial evidence that Garcinia Cambogia may be linked to liver problems. Personally, I'm not yet convinced it does this. For more info on this see my review of garcinia Cambogia.
Alpha-lipoic acid. This ingredient appears to lower blood sugar. Because of this, alpha-lipoic acid might interfere with insulin and other diabetes medications. Alpha-lipoic acid seems to reduce thyroid hormone levels. This can be a problem for people who take Levothyroxin for hypothyroidism (low thyroid).
Hoodia. As I reported in my book on supplements hoodia Gordonii seems to share some chemical similarity to a class of heart drugs called cardiac glycosides. In fact, if you Google “Hoodia and cardiac glycosides.” I don’t know the clinical significance of this. That said, if you have heart or blood pressure issues please see your cardiologist before using any hoodia supplement, just to be safe.
Chromium may lower blood sugar levels. While this can be a good thing, it also means chromium might interact with blood-sugar-lowering medications. This might – in theory – make blood sugar levels to too low.
As a general, blanket statement, I would be cautious if you have any problems with your heart, blood pressure, kidneys, liver, mental disorders, diabetes or digestive problems. I would not recommend Plexus Slim if you had bariatric surgery either. To their credit, the makers of Plexus Slim do say to see your doctor first if you are pregnant. I agree with this.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator
Update: The Accelerator formula has changed significantly and the product is now called Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +). Do read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus for additional information on the new product.
This is another product sold on the Plexus Slim website. The word “accelerator” is a tip-off that this product is a stimulant.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator contains trace minerals, calcium, and magnesium from seaweed (both are useless for weight loss) and vitamin B6 (useless for weight loss). The accelerator also has a “proprietary blend” of:
- Dark Chocolate – won't help weight loss, unless it has caffeine
- Natural Caffeine – natural or not, it's caffeine!
- Green Tea Extract – probably has caffeine or EGCG
- Vanadium Chelate. This is the fancy name for Vanadium. It won't help weight loss.
- B-Phenylethylamine HCl – might act as a neuro-chemical. Avoid if you take antidepressants.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator also has an ingredient called GeranaX. GeranaX is a reference to geranium oil. Geranium oil is controversial in some circles because it is thought by some to be a natural source of a stimulant called Dimethylamylamineor “DMAA. ” It's scientific name is 1,3 Dimethylamylamine and its also called Methylhexaneamine.
The name “GeranaX” is a made-up word. In other words, the name GeranaX holds no scientific meaning.
Geranium has been the subject by scrutiny by the military, whose research finds that geranium does not contain DMAA. Oddly, the supplement 411 website still lists “geranium” as an alternative name for DMAA in its listings. Currently, it is controversial if geranium is a source of DMAA or not.
As of July 2013, the Australian government warned people about the Plexus Slim Accelerator because they say it had DMAA. This link goes to the Australian government website that discusses the Plexus Slim Accelerator and DMAA.
- In April of 2013, the FDA issued a warning letter about DMAA.
- Here is a New York Times article on DMAA for more information.
The ingredient DMAA seems to act like ephedra or bitter orange (synephrine) which are potent stimulants. As such, it may raise blood pressure and heart rate to dangerous levels. Here is a case report of a 21-year-old man who suffered a stroke after taking 2 DMAA pills.
This does not mean plexus slim will do this. It would depend on whether DMAA really is in geranium and also which part of the plant was used (root, stems ect).
Di methy amyl amine “looks” like amphetamines (“speed”). This may be why question 6 of the Plexus Slim Q and A page mentions that this ingredient may cause a positive result on a drug test for amphetamines. Here is a study showing that dimethylamylamine causes false positive drug tests for amphetamines.
Plexus Slim Bio-Cleanse
This is a laxative. Always remember, the word “cleanse” means laxative. The Plexus Slim Bio Cleanse supplement lives up to its laxative name because it contains magnesium, which is indeed a laxative. Remember “Milk of Magnesia.” Either way, laxatives don't cause any weight loss other than mostly water (and of course, poo). The Plexus Slim website lists 2 prices for this product – $29.95 or $39.95 -both of which are too pricey for me.
Plexus Boost
Here is my review of Plexus Boost. I cover a lot of information in this review and I also compare it to the ingredients in Accelerator Plus as well.
Plexus Slim Fast Relief
The Fast Relief product appears to be a pain relief formula that exists in both a cream and capsule form. One of the ingredients in Fast Relief is Lyprinol. This compound comes from the green-lipped mussel, hence the slogan “Full Body Relief, From the Sea-Naturally.” You may know this product by its other name – as Omega XL which is advertised on TV with Larry King.
For more information, see the review of Omega XL.
Will Plexus Slim Work?
Honestly, I'm not if it works because Plexus Slim – itself- has no published proof. If you read the comments below, you'll see some people do say it's helped them lose weight. If it works, is it because of the unique blend of ingredients in Plexus Slim or is it because of just a few key ingredients alone?
Here are Plexus Supplements on Amazon

I can only share my experience with the Plexus Slim…. I have had severe bladder pain for over 3 years now and was just diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis (IC) which is cysts on the inside of the bladder for which they have no cause or no cure for. This pain includes the constant urgency to urinate, the feeling of constantly having a UTI and painful acidic urination as well as no chance at all of being able to be intimate. There is only 1 RX drug approved to treat this which is Elmiron and you have to take this drug for 6 months before they even know if it’s working. I have been on it for about 2 months now with no improvement. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I am overweight..
I was given this product to try by a friend to hopefully lose weight to maybe help relieve some RA pain…. what happened was totally unexpected… I have not had any bladder pain what so ever.. No urgency, no cramping, no pain at all…(even after intimacy) after 1 water bottle of the plexus slim my pain stopped…. I know the the RX did not kick in overnight, and I know that I was not instantly healed.. so I know it has to be the Plexus… So I do not care how much it cost, if it keeps me from being in excruciating pain I will gladly pay it..
There’s absolutely no ingredient in Plexus that can be linked to relief of RA or IC. Another hack who has a miraculous cure that can’t be replicated anywhere else or even verified. My money is on this person posting this garbage to their FB page as well.
I am only telling you my experience, if you can read I said I know that I am not cured and I have no idea how this is working.. all i can say is that it does.. I saw my Dr today and she basically said if it’s working for you keep doing it.
SUZY claims: “I said I know that I am not cured…”
Let’s review:
“I have had severe bladder pain for over 3 years now and was just diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis (IC) which is cysts on the inside of the bladder for which they have no cause or no cure for. This pain includes the constant urgency to urinate, the feeling of constantly having a UTI and painful acidic urination as well as no chance at all of being able to be intimate.”
Then you state:
“what happened was totally unexpected… I have not had any bladder pain what so ever.. No urgency, no cramping, no pain at all…(even after intimacy) after 1 water bottle of the plexus slim my pain stopped….”
Don’t pee on our shoes and tell us it’s raining. That is a claim of cure, right there. By definition, “cure” means “a means of correcting or relieving anything that is troublesome or detrimental.” You have made the claim that one swig of the pink Kool-Aid was responsible for the cessation of all your ills.
More disgusting is that you shared details of your sex life. I highly doubt any claim you make has any validity whatsoever. You’re most likely an ambassador who has been told about this site and you’re here for a little damage control, just like “M” does from time to time.
Michael, BITE ME… I’M DONE WITH YOU!
And another Plexus hack goes down in flames….
I love your information! Keep up the great work Joe.
Thanks Carrie 🙂
OMG, Suzy
It’s A MIRACLE!!!!!! LOL.
Have you not read the FDA letter sent to PS. Talking about disease states, and curing them with PS, a dietary supplement, with no clinical data backing it available, can get your company, and needless to say, you in a lot of trouble. Doesn’t seem to bother any of you ambassadors, or supporters of PS. The only way to get your attention would be to have the FDA bulldoze the PS facility down. And, I have heard of this been done to those who constantly break the rules, or regulations.
Pete, You are real funny… I do not care what the FDA says I have not read it and i do not have a company .. I do not care what anyone says… I am NOT saying it cured me… go back up and read it again.. I am just saying it is relieving my pain..
Suzy
When did the truth become funny. okay, it relieves your symptoms, not cure you. Still by FDA regulations you have to perform clinical studies proving efficacy and safety profiles. If you loss weight , that could be another reason your pain has improved..
I NEVER SAID IT CURED ME….. and I’ve only lost 6 lbs that isnt the reason… the only thing I have said was it relieved my pain… PERIOD!! Not sure why people cant just accept the fact that it helps some and not others…..
Suzy,
YAY!! It is great to hear that you are having success with Plexus. I’ve heard about a lot of cases where symptoms of illnesses are eased when using Plexus. I, myself, have had relief from migraines since I started using Plexus. I guess we are living proof that Plexus is successful for some of us. 🙂
Don’t pay attention to the rude and sarcastic comments from some people on here, they are against MLM and they bash everything about Plexus, regardless of what any of us say on here. Those opposed to it are so set on the fact that Plexus hasn’t been proven by a clinical study; therefore, they refuse to believe that it actually works.
Just because a medication, drug or supplement has been proven, by clinical studies, to work, doesn’t mean that it works for everyone. The same concept goes for Plexus. It may work for some, but not others.
M
Hey M
I’m sure you know a place where you can go where those CARE about what you say. You should go back to that place!
I can say with confidence, PS was not the reason she got relief from her symptoms of whatever. In my opinion the body healing process helped, or the medicine she was taking worked faster on her than others, or simply, she was having a good day.
M, it is so hard to believe that you are so closed minded, along with being extremely gullible!!!
Pete, so you are saying that the night before i started plexus when I was sitting on my couch crying to my husband in such pain with my bladder that their is no possible way the next day when I drank Plexus for the first time and immediately have no pain at all since.. that my meds all of a sudden kicked in??? And who is closed minded??
Wow! Really the very next day right after you drank the Plexus your symptoms went away. Amazing!! You need to be the poster child for Plexus.
Suzy
You got it!
Peter, FIRST I want to say that you are such a mean person. You need to find something to make you happy.
There are people on here that CARE about what I say. If you take a good look in the mirror, you will see the person who is the definition of close minded. I realize that it doesn’t work for all, so how is that close minded? I have friends who are doctors, who have told me it is ok to take. Who have also had patients that have had various results from the product.
If you go back and look at some of the ingredients that Joe listed and discussed, he mentions the good and the bad. You will see, in Joe’s descriptions, that some of them have ingredients that could have helped with some symptoms (anti-inflammatory for pain, lower blood sugar levels, increased fat burning). But all medications and supplements (which is what Plexus is) have good and bad. Even acetaminophen, ibuprofen and aspirin cause symptoms and cause health problems. So, in reality, nothing is good for anyone. PERIOD!!
You can’t prove that the Plexus isn’t what gave Suzy relief, you are not her doctor, nor are you the doctor to many of the others that have gotten relief using it. You have your opinions and we all have ours.
I am not gullible, because the product works for me. Grow up a little and act like an adult. Stop bashing the people who are having success with the product. That is what you live for and why you live on this site.
Suzy, I’m so happy for you. Don’t let anyone on here get to you. Keep feeling better. 🙂
M
“M” States:
“…you are such a mean person. You need to find something to make you happy.”
Would a statement like this be an example of a “nice” person?
“You’re quite an immature person, a non-believer and you act like an idiot with your little moronic comments.”
What about this one?
“I am not twisting a damn thing.”
Or?
“You must be pretty fit and trim – hahahaha – (I would love to see an actual picture of you), being as you once sold PS, you must have tried it at one point in time and it failed you. Sorry for that. As it failed you financially, as well. Oops, sorry for that too.”
Perhaps?
“First and foremost, You don’t know a damn thing about me.”
First of all, I make me happy. If asking for clinical data to back what you and other supporters say about PS is mean, then I am. I care about the health, well-being, of people and I don’t feel like PS, a dietary supplement with no clinical data supporting is the answer to all, if any disease state.
You’ve heard the old saying, “show me the money”, well, “show me the data supporting all the negative claims you here about PS, and you may have me on your side. But, till then, it remains PS is BS.
I know quite a few doctors myself, and I have never heard one say he supported any dietary supplement, for any disease state. Honestly, most don’t believe, like your so-called Dr. friends, if a patient thinks a product works for them, they leave it along. You ever heard of a “placebo effect”.
In Joe’s review, he states some of the ingredients MAY help the ailments you mention. May help, takes a whole new meaning than DOES help. And, you can only find this out by performing clinical studies of the product, or products. M, you need to get real.
Don’t you think if PS really had the confidence that PS performed the “miracles” that you, and other supporters claim, the company would spend the money to find out. There would be so much more money to be made here.
PS, either does not have the money to spend on research, or they know what the outcome will be. The outcome will most probably be one they don’t won’t publish because of the bad publicity it would generate, and “boom”, there goes PS.
And, products like acetaminophen, ibuprofen, aspirin, etc. all have been clinically studied and their side effects are listed on the product information sheet. You know what to expect. PS, has no data supporting it, no listing of side effects, so how do you know what side effects are hidden behind the door. What if, after long-term use, you wake up one morning with ‘two” heads.
Again, get real, M
Thank you, Michael
You have to admit, “M” is a “pistol”. A “pistol” that misfires much too often. lol
Yes, I did try PS, but it wasn’t the product that ran me off, it was the marketing concept of MLM. I never have deceived anyone to make a buck, and I wasn’t going to start then.
Yes, M, I am “fat”, 6’1″ and 185 lbs. lol Just like PS, I can’t prove anything. I bet M is a typical PS supporter, down to 280lbs. and thinks she is in tip top shape.
If M wants to see fat, she needs to go to a couple of PS meetings. The first time I attended one, there were ‘testimonials” all around me yet I felt like I was at a cattle farm. I kept wanting to say “head-um up, move-um out”, but being the nice guy I am, I just couldn’t do it.
Pete,
With regards to PS not spending money on research, I’d say it has to do with not wanting to let the cat out of the bag that they are just another unregulated product with no clinical ability to back up the claims they (or their ambassadors) make.
Why spend the dough there to validate your product when you can arrange lavish trips to Hawaii (3 weeks ago) and then to Florida (this week) for all of your top sellers? People will buy a whole lot more when they see their uplines boozing it up by the pool and saying “join me and you too can have Plexus freedom.” Folks will roll over and do whatever their uplines tell them in hopes that they make the cut for the next free trip or a “Plexus Lexus”, including making claims of cured ailments, weight loss, and how it’s great for children.
They will stop taking medications that have been prescribed to them and broadcast it all over Facebook. It’s nothing short of cultish, in my opinion.
yeah I know… thanks
Michael
I believe the statement you made, “They (PS) will stop taking medications that have been prescribed to them and broadcast it all over Facebook. It’s nothing short of cultish, in my opinion.”
Based on my analysis, after been an ambassador for a while, think the notion that MLMs have cultish tendencies has merit. I’ll be the first to admit that excellence in any endeavor requires a passionate dedication. But that dedication is usually internal rather than external. When external “authorities” begin overwriting people’s identities with their own scripting, to the detriment of the people getting scripted, that’s when the problems begin.
I think that happens most of the time with MLMs given the dismal statistics of MLM failures. When rigorous studies reveal gambling to be less risky than MLM, it is time to bail out of MLM, and that includes PS.
“When external “authorities” begin overwriting people’s identities with their own scripting, to the detriment of the people getting scripted, that’s when the problems begin.”
Funny you should say this. While all the uplines are partying it up in Florida, the downlines who stay at home are being told to post things on Facebook like:
“My Plexy peeps are on their way to a $5,000 shopping spree courtesy of PLEXUS! EACH of them earned this reward of $5,000! So excited for them! I plan on being with them next year! Can’t wait!”
“Today, Bloomingdale’s shopping spree day for our top earners, I’m reminded how generous our company is! I’m grateful that God put Plexus in my path, it’s changed our lives in SO many ways!!! For all of you on the trip, ENJOY IT!!! You deserve it!! And keep room for me on that bus, because I’ll be there with you one day!”
“I am so jelly right now, these pictures are of alot of my Plexus friends that have worked their Plexus business and received a free trip to Orlando, Florida to Leaders Retreat and some also won a $5000 shopping spree to Bloomingdales. All three of my direct up lines are in these pictures, Great leaders!! I can’t wait till you all get back and share.”
These poor, poor fools who believe that they will magically march up the chain and be showered with all of these free trips, shopping sprees, etc. if they just follow what their uplines tell them. The more they sell, the more goes into these uplines’ pockets.
Haters and Pessimists:
I’m not entertaining your arguments against PLEXUS any longer. I will continue to maintain and promote the fact that PLEXUS WORKS!!
M
I believe that Plexus slim needs to be shut down. If you see webpage claiming to cure different illnesses, you can report them to the Fda here http://www.fda.gov/Safety/ReportaProblem/ucm059315.htm
The claims are getting worse! I saw one that says it can cure adhd and autism in children! Really? That is illegal, scary, life threatening and just wrong!
Plexus was originally made to help control diabetes, do your research on the product before you leave your comments. Plexus is not for everyone, but yes it has been proven to help control diabetes, weight loss and some other health issues.
You people that sit here and bash on the product…..need your facts to back them up. I take Plexus, and no it has not helped to me to lose a lot of weight, but I have lost some….however I love how it makes me feel. I get up every morning refreshed and ready to take the day on.
Before Plexus, someday days I really didn’t care if I even got out of bed. Like I said, it’s not for everyone….and if it don’t work then, it doesn’t work plain and simple.
I would love to see where it was proven to help diabetes. I have yet to read a real medical study but the funny thing is, not one person has ever been able to show me one.
How have they not been shut down yet? Are the “ambassadors” at risk of being sued for making these claims? These are serious claims and can potentially be life threatening!
Beckest
A FDA warning letter, which is linked to several post on the site, was sent to PS
warning them of making false claims on their products. It not corrected, they could be shut down.
And yes, Ambassadors can be sued for making false claims about their products and someone becomes injured. IF the FDA would dig deeper, they would find a lot more regulations being abused.
Shawna states: “do your research on the product before you leave your comments.”
We have, Shawna. In these posts and in Joe’s analysis above, we have submitted research. Countless links and data from which to view. You should actually read some of these before telling anyone else to do research.
“but yes it has been proven to help control diabetes, weight loss and some other health issues.”
No, it hasn’t. Feel free to post the clinical studies that prove Plexus controls anything you claim it does. Do not rely on the study of 8 participants that used a different formulation (the one Plexus ambassadors constantly throw out).
Do not use video links to so-called doctors that have been busted for false claims.
Do not use the countless testimonials from ambassadors that you are told to post on your FB page.
When you have the chance, see what the FDA has to say about Plexus and these wild claims – http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/EnforcementActions/WarningLetters/2014/ucm411287.htm
“I take Plexus, and no it has not helped to me to lose a lot of weight, but I have lost some….however I love how it makes me feel.”
You have your talking points down. Your uplines will be proud. You’re following the whole “it’s not about the weight loss, it’s about the health” propaganda. I wonder, did you get to go to Hawaii? Did your upline get to make that trip?
Just like prescriptions, not everything is good for everyone. Many people have side effects to prescriptions and others don’t. This is not a cookie cutter world. I know many, many people that Plexus has helped with so many different problems. Don’t knock it until you try it for yourself.
Shelly the problem is you won’t know what your personal side effects might be until you try it and that’s just sad.
Shelly states “Don’t knock it until you try it for yourself.”
I can’t believe any sensible adult holds to that theory on any matter in life. I don’t have to try any product to know that ingesting stimulants/appetite suppressants that have not been researched is potentially harmful.
Shelly
You ever tried cocaine, marijuana, nicotine, arsenic. Well I haven’t, but I don’t have to try them to know they are bad for me, maybe even kill me.
If you got that idea from your upline, etc, that would be “typical.” In my opinion, a bunch of “stupids” following “stupids”!
I have been taking Plexus since March and I lost 14lbs. About a month ago I started having some swelling in my right foot/leg. Went to the doctor and made sure that I didn’t have any blood clots, all test came back negative but I still have the swelling. A week later I started having joint pain in both of my elbows.
I stopped taking the Plexus for two weeks and then I started back taking the ProBio5 for a week and then yesterday I drank one Slim Plexus drink. I woke up this morning at 1:30 with both of my elbow joints killing me. I got up and rub ointments in both of my elbow joints and tried to go back to sleep but the pain wouldn’t ease up at all.
I tried to research some of the ingredients to see if there were any side effects of the joints but was unable to find anything. Has anyone heard of any other others with this problem?
Susie, I dont think Ive ever heard of elbow joint pain or leg swelling from plexus slim. Has anybody else? Did the pain go away when you stopped taking all plexus products?
Have you been doing any strength training? Do you do a lot of arm exercises like biceps curls or triceps extensions, pullups etc? If yes have you recently increased the intensity of the exercise?
My swelling still goes on, the doc put me on Lasix but all that accomplished was many many trips to the bathroom but the swelling still persist. The joint pain eased up some but after taking the Plexus Slim drink yesterday I was in worse pain in the wee hours this morning and even after taking some Aleve this morning I am still having twinges of pain.
I just can’t understand it because there are all natural ingredients. The Plexus brought my blood pressure down and gave me extra energy. I was really hoping to get back on the Plexus but after the pain I woke up with this morning I am going to swear off of it until I can get in to see the doctor and have a blood panel worked up so I can determine to see if there might be something in the ingredients that isn’t agreeing with me.
No weight lifting, I work two jobs and can’t seem to find the time or energy to exercise. I work from 7:30-4:30 as a research librarian, which means that I set most of the time at a computer. Then I work from 4:45-10 or 11 at night as a baker which means I never sit down at all. By the time I get home I am exhausted. With Plexus you are to drink a lot of water which I do all day long.
Susie, I think its important for everybody to understand that “all natural” does not mean “safe for everybody.” Technically, plexus didnt do that directly lower your blood pressure. It was actually the 14 pounds that you lost that caused your BP to lower. If plexus helped you lose weight then great, but I just wanted to point out that plexus itself didn’t directly do it. Losing 14 lbs by any method would likely do the same thing.
As a baker, are you doing anything differently such as carrying things differently or carrying heavier loads? I ask because you said the pain was in both elbows which made me think maybe it was something you recently started doing. If not then Im at a loss as to what is causing the elbow pain. If plexus slim is the only think you recently started doing then I would stop taking it – all of their products – in the hopes that takes the pain away.
Really wish I had a good answer for you Susie. Let me know if stopping all plexus products takes the pain away.
Susie – please listen to your body and stop taking Plexus. It is giving you the warning signs. Listen!
Please read this article in the link. http://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/2012/08/02/hidden-dangers-in-vitamins-supplements/
Did you know between 2007-2012, 115 people DIED from taking natural supplements? 6300 people reported severe side effects. What about all the people that didn’t report anything?
Please stop the Plexus brainwashing. Your body isn’t “detox” or any other line your ambassadors will be telling you. I sincerely hope you listen to your body and stop taking Plexus.
Susie states “I just can’t understand it because there are all natural ingredients.”
Susie,
The lax regulations in the supplement industry allow Plexus and other manufacturers to get away with claiming their ingredients are all natural. The reality is, they aren’t always “all natural”. They simply meet the FDA guidelines to be able to claim that. In fact, there isn’t even a definition for “all natural” from the FDA.
One other point – salt is all natural, butter is all natural. Use too much of either of these and you will have health problems. Same thing with Plexus.
No one knows if Plexus is safe since there are no medical trials. This is why the FDA is asking them to stop advertising “drug like” benefits.
http://www.fda.gov/ICECI/EnforcementActions/WarningLetters/2014/ucm411287.htm
I’ve tried various MLM products through the years and have yet to be impressed with any of them. Now I can add Plexus to the list. I am very active, but carry an extra 30 pounds that I need to lose. I was convinced to try the product by someone at church(because that’s where MLM’s love to incubate). So after 60 days, nothing. Not a pound, not a better nights sleep, nothing. Basically the same result I had with Juice Plus and HeartBar, etc. If anything was this great I promise they would sell it at Walmart.
I started on plexus slim and accelerator 2 mths ago and after not losing any weight, added the probio and cleanse 3 weeks later. Immediately I started having bowel issues and thought it was normal to expect from the cleanse until it began uncontrollably. I immediately got off the cleanse, accelerator and probio and a few days later the slim.
It’s been 2 weeks and I am still having issues but slowly recovering (at least hoping I am). My bowel issues were so bad it led to dehydration where I was soo fatigued and had excessive thirst. I am so mad at myself for ever trying this stuff. All I know is that I was healthy before ever starting this but bought into it and now I feel my body is all messed up and trying to heal.
My issues were so bad I had been in tears thinking the worst. But I do know everything started while taking plexus. And my upline tells me well if it is crohn’s, plexus does wonder. Take the slim, xfactor and probio. I wanted to vomit. I was already taking 2 of those products when everything happened.
Please pray for me that I will be ok. I have been really worried about the damage I’ve done.
Elaine, so sorry that you are going through all of this! If you are dehydrated, try drinking some Gatorade or similar drink as it has electrolytes. I did say a prayer for you and I also hope you go to the doctor if you are no better. Don’t be shy. If you still have the plexus supplements, take them to the doctor with you also. Please keep me updated on how you are doing.
Elaine,
Would you share your experience with us in regards to who guided you to proceed from just the Plexus & Accelerator to adding the ProBio & Cleanse? Was that something your upline recommended? Did she have any specifics with regards to it helping/curing Crohn’s?
Additionally, I wouldn’t be worried about damage. This is your body’s way of ridding itself of stuff it does not like. As horrible as your situation was, it is the body’s natural way of defending itself. Keep rehydrating and I hope all goes well going forward.
No sales consultant should be discussing Chron’s with you whatsoever. How ridiculous that they would even go there. This is exactly what is wrong with MLM companies. As for saying don’t worry about what is coming out of you, just part of the detox is so irresponsible.
Almost every ambassador does this. Claim cures of virtually every health condition and even worse, recommend giving it to children.
Here’s some claims from Facebook posts that have been made by ambassadors:
“Plexus has been huge for me and my family! I personally have lost 30 + pounds. I am off all meds, including an antidepressant.”
“I love…that my plantar’s faciaitis pain has diminished…that my toenail fungus is being pushed out of my body…that my bursitis in my hip has completely disappeared, that my migraines have disappeared”
“My back pain is gone. My knee pain gone”
“I started my granddaughter on Slim because of weight……..4 1/2 years old”
“no more back, hip, knee or plantar faciitis pain”
“My 13 year old with Alopecia has seen dramatic hair growth, my 11 year old with ADHD finished the school year with straight A’s.”
“I didn’t even realize that I had “brain fog” until it lifted.”
“Better ‘time of the month’ – not so crampy & crabby!”
Cheap enough less than $3.00 a day. This is not expensive at all. Cheaper than Starbucks or fast food!!
Shelley, other supplement companies promise weight loss and health and claim to cost less than $3 a day. That doesn’t make them better but just to point out its an old argument.
$3 a day is $21 a week. That’s $84 a month. That’s over $800 a year. 🙂
That’s just for the Plexus Slim product. You know that every ambassador under the sun is going to recommend Boost, Accelerator Plus, Bio-Cleanse, Pro-Bio, X-Factor, etc. Don’t buy that $3 a day hook that they toss out.
For your information Plexus Accelerator is already included in the $3.00 a day price. Get your information correct before you start talking. It is much cheaper to invest in your health than take pills, pay doctors, and hospital bills.
Shelley, Maybe you can answer a question I have. why did they change the formula for the accelerator? Its drastically changed from when I reviewed it.
Shelley,
Thanks for your reply. We’re going to do some simple math here:
$3/day @ 30 days = $90. According to ambassadors, that’s pretty close to the price of a 30 day supply of the packets.
http://plexusreviews.com/how-much-does-plexus-slim-cost.html
“The Plexus Slim 30 day product retails for $84.95 or approximately $2.84 per day* when one each is taken.”
Note, that does not include the cost for Accelerator or Boost.
The Slim/Accelerator Combo pack is going to cost you $115 or more. That’s $3.83/day. Boost – an additional $40. X-Factor – an additional $40. Pro Bio – an additional $35. Bio Cleanse – $40 additional.
Let’s just say you reel in a lemming and get them to purchase the Slim/Accelerator, X-Factor, Pro-Bio, and Bio Cleanse. Total of $230. For the month, that’s $7.67/day. Double what you claim.
Since when is it automatically assumed that if you don’t “invest” in your health by purchasing untested, unproven chemicals that cannot be sourced to an American manufacturer that it means you’re taking pills, having to go to doctors, etc? Seems to me that ingesting Higenamine & Yerba Mate, products that have known health hazards would be a little less about “investment” than you seem to portray. Having people pump laxatives through their system doesn’t seem to be “all about the health” either. I’ll spend no additional money and make wise diet and exercise choices instead of running who knows what through my body. You just ingest as much of that stuff as you can.
I just started Plexus Slim and I am on day 3. I do NOT sell the product. I have already lost over one pound and my daily sugar cravings are GONE. I used to make a chocolate cake every single day because that is what I craved. I have not made one cake since I started because the desire is gone. I have been hypoglycemic for years and this appears to be working GREAT for me. So to everyone out there I say…… try it for yourself and do not listen to any negativity.
By the way for all of you people out there griping about the cost of the products being too high, remember you get what you pay for. This is the first product I have ever found that I LOVE the taste of, therefore I absolutely will stick with it! I am thinking that the people it is not working for, may not be as diligent in taking it as they should be? Just my thoughts.
I am so happy for you Trish Hall. The products are simply amazing. I have lost 23 pounds, it has leveled out my blood sugar as this product was original made for diabetics. I have more energy, sleep better and off my diabetes and cholesterol meds.
This is considered a health product, but you just so happen to lose weight on it. I love my PLEXUS and take it every morning!!
Medications that people take have severe side effects. I am so glad to be rid of some of them!! Everyone should give it a try. Contact me if you want more info. I am a product of all the products and proud of it!
Shelly, sorry no distributor advertising for in comments.
Shelley states:
“This is considered a health product but you just so happen to lose weight on it.”
The new talking points are in. If you will recall, when Plexus first came out, all these ambassadors would talk about is how you would lose weight on this stuff. Facebook pages are littered with before & after shots of everyone dropping weight. It was all about the weight loss.
Once Plexus reformulated their product, the message changed. It was the push for the whole “it’s about the health” propaganda came out. The reason for this is so transparent – FDA does not regulate those sort of comments. They can get away with claiming its a health product while their ambassadors are claiming about being off of diabetes meds, anti-depressants, etc. It really is sickening to know that people are so naïve to believe this snake oil cures everything under the sun and that its OK to dole out to their kids as well.
You can say what you want, but it has helped thousands of people. Debt Free company! It could not stay like that if it did not help people. We have many medical doctors, surgeons, research doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and many other professionals that are customers as well and that support our products.
“We have many medical doctors, surgeons, research doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and many other professionals that are customers as well and that support our products.”
Are you going to post the pre-prepared testimonials to share with us? Because you should know someone has already done that in here and tried to pass it off as real information.
Also, being a debt-free company doesn’t mean anything. Crooks and charlatans usually make such statements about their financial strength, so keep that one under wraps.
Instead of drinking a load of junk, why don’t you try eating real, nutrient dense whole foods? Change your lifestyle, tackle the stressors in your life, avoid as many toxins as possible and see what that can do for you.
Plexus is just one of MANY weight loss companies out there claiming the moon. Do it the right way and the health you gain will be for a lifetime.
I’m curious to know if any studies have shown Plexus Slim to cause joint pain.
Jennifer, honestly there are no published clinical studies on any plexus slim products. They only “study” that is ever discussed is of a very small group of people in a weight loss clinic (8 people I believe). It was never published. Are you having joint pain from plexus slim? which product are you taking?
I am thrilled with the results I have had from Plexus. It has brought down my cholesterol, triglycerides, A1C to normal levels. I am also off 2 of my medications I was on for 20 years or better. I am getting the best sleep I have had in years. I could go on and on. I have more energy and feel amazing. I am giving out samples all the time and I have only had 1 customer in 5 months that has discontinued the product. Try it for yourself. Don’t listen to biased opinions. Their products ROCK.
Shelley, I’m very happy for you. May I respectfully mention that that most of the results you saw were from the weight loss rather than from plexus slim itself.
Plexus Slim helped me curb my appetite, and completely take away the cravings for sweets, plus give me natural energy. This is the only thing that has ever helped me. I have tried many other things and always failed. Plexus is a wellness product. Many people are have amazing results.
Shelley, I’m sorry but plexus slim is a weight loss product. References to Weight loss is even in the name – slim. It’s not called plexus wellness.
How long have you been a distributor? I ask because talk of it being a health and wellness product only started recently . This makes me think that this reflects a change in marketing.
“natural energy”
When you introduce chemicals into your body, how can anyone claim it is “natural”?
I have been on Plexus Slim for 3 days. And I haven’t felt this bad in a long, long time. Constantly nauseous, bad headache and so lightheaded and dizzy that I can’t get out of bed.
When I contacted my ambassador, she acted surprised and had never heard of any negative effects, but agreed to ask around. A few hours later came back that I am just in the “detox” stage and this is completely normal and a good thing because my body is getting rid of toxins. She suggested that I just stick it out for another week, eating more protein during this time. And after I get through detox I should start to feel great.
Humm. I don’t think so. I think my body is giving me huge warning signs and it feels more like I am drinking poison, then something that is eventually going to make me feel great. If my Dr gave me meds that caused this bad of side effects, I would be calling them immediately and I am sure they wouldn’t say “Stick with it and eat more protein”.
I had heard such bad experiences about trying to return the product for the 60 day money back and getting them to stop the auto payment. I am just hopeful that I can get my money back. And hope that the 3 days haven’t caused any serious issues.
This, like many products seems to have mixed reviews. If it works for you – then great. If you feel horrible, like me, I suggest that you don’t wait it out to feel better. Listen to your body. It’s telling the truth.
Georgia, I’m really sorry that happened to you and I’m so glad you listened to your instincts!
I’m sure the ambassador you spoke with means well and wants what is best for you but I think the thing for everybody to keep in mind is that many people who sell supplements have no formal training in science, medicine, nutrition, etc. So, for someone to say you are just “detoxing” or “getting rid of toxins” is the person trying to explain something that they may not understand.
I know some people may not like that I said that, but I believe the public needs to hear this. As you said, everybody reacts differently. My hope is that others read this and do what you did -listen to your gut instincts – rather than trusting someone who may or may not understand what is going on.
The next time somebody says you are detoxing of flushing out toxins, ask them to specifically NAME THE TOXIN that is leaving the body. Is it a bacteria, virus etc.? If they do name the toxin, then ask for scientific evidence (a clinical study) that proves the product removes that toxin in people.
To those who sell supplements (PS, Advocare, Shakeology, It Works! Isagenix, Saba ACE, etc), if you talk about toxins being removed as an explanation for why bad side effects are occurring, please stop. If someone is having reactions like what Georgia, stated, your best advise is to tell them to stop taking the product and see their doctor. I think if everybody followed this simple rule of thumb, then it would give you a better reputation. I can recommend some very good books about nutrition also if you like to learn more.
Thanks Joe! That is a great point about someone meaning well, but not being well informed and trying to be helpful on something they just don’t understand. And I think the “detox” line is something that is believable to most people.
I started taking Plexus because of everyone talking about how great they felt and how much energy they had, with the weight loss as a secondary benefit. You know what makes you feel like that every single time, without the worry about what you are really putting in your body? EXERCISE
Again, I urge everyone to listen to your body and not the person selling you the product.
Georgia, thanks and I agree 100% about exercise too! I’m looking forward to riding my bike later today 🙂
The same things happened to me, Georgia. I think I tried it for four days. My blood pressure went waaaay up and I went all day once without eating (so I guess the appetite depressant works). My heart rate went up too, so I stopped. My Ambassador said she had not heard of that before and was I taking the Plexus Slim correctly? Ummmm, yes, you mix it with water and drink it!
I guess so far I am the only one she has sold to that this has happened to. It took me a while to get my money refunded but I got it back. I hope you can stop that automatic payment thing. I was not on that. Your body will tell you if something is good or not, not uniformed Ambassadors.
I just want to share my experience and of course everyone is different. I started on Plexus Slim/accelerator on march 30th 2014. my weight was 315lbs by far the heaviest I have ever been. I felt horrible and my size 44 shorts and 3xl shirts were starting to fit tight.
I decided to give Plexus a shot, I figured why not with all the hype. By the 4th day I did notice more energy and I was doing more around the house and being more productive at work. By the end of the first week I was down 5lbs.
Obviously that gave me the encouragement to go on. By the 2nd week I was off my anxiety/anti depressant meds. Fast forward to today 8-3-2014, I weighed in this morning at 265 for 50lb weight loss. Is it the Plexus Slim or the fact I gave up all sugary drinks, watch more closely what I eat and keep eating out to once a week.
maybe it’s the fact I’m going on 6mile hikes in the Rocky Mountains or doing 2 mile walks around the neighborhood. maybe it is the combination of everything mentioned above?
What I do know is my clothes are all to big, I have energy and I am inspiring others to take a closer look at their health. I will also say I am an ambassador for Plexus BUT I have not had a sale for 2 months. I do not actively look for new clients as I use the ambassador status for my cheaper products.
So for now I will continue to use Plexus Slim for my health and I urge people to research the product before taking it. I also commend you for your review as it seems unbiased and fact based rather than hearsay.
Kevin, congratulations on all you have accomplished and I wish you all the continued success in the world. Those hikes sound great too!
I have severe psoriasis and see a dermatologist regularly. Few things work for very long. A friend that sells Plexus showed a picture on facebook of a man’s psoriasis cured from taking Plexus. Is that possible?
Lou, while I don’t think Plexus Slim itself has any direct effect on psoriasis, my guess is if it helps you lose weight, the weight loss might reduce psoriasis symptoms. Here is something I found on weight loss helping psoriasis
http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/psoriasis/news/20130529/weight-loss-might-ease-psoriasis-study-hints
The people in this study I linked to just cut back on calories. They didn’t use plexus slim.
I am sorry but Psoriasis, RA, Lupus, are all autoimmune issues and drinking a weight loss shake will not help you. The only thing that will help you is healing your leaky gut, get massive amounts of real nutrients in your diet, and making changes to your lifestyle.
Companies and reps making claims that they can cure these ailments is just plain wrong and makes me want to scream.
That man probably used the body cream for his psoriasis.
I keep hearing bad remarks from people who have not tried plexus slim products-its like anything else it does not work if you dont try it and it does not work for everyone. i personally have been watching family and friends have remarkable results. my son is now taking probio5 for his AD.it has done wonders for many..taking them off the prescribed proscriptions that are later killing people.
my daughter was told the birth control she needed to be on would help her cycles-she died.no more cycles..they caused a pulmonary embolism.but yet my nieces..zillions of people i know ..including myself had no problems and they helped with regulating their cycles.
there is no guarantee on anything-and tomorrow is never promised.. the only thing worse then not trying to get healthy is not trying.obesity kills too-it is half the reason why too my daughter could not fight off the blood clots.had she been able to drop the weight-which we tried everything available then.. who knows she may be here now. had she not had difficulties with taking the pill..she may have regulated her cycles.and been happy as a lark. there are pluses and negatives.. but being negative gets you nowhere. im happy with my choice. my mom who is a cancer survivor is feeling and looking better than she has in years and my son and I are doing good as well.thats all i need to know.
Tina, first I want to say I’m so sorry for your loss. That is so sad and no parent should have to bury their child. Hard to believe that birth control can’t be fatal. But, then again, there are many other prescribed medications that have been the cause of deaths also. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Second, I want to say that I, too, have had very good results using Plexus, not only with my weight and size, but also other health issues. And I’m so happy to hear that you know people who have had positive results from Plexus priducts also.
Just as a heads up: there are a few people on this site that, after reading your post, will say that what you have posted can’t possibly be true because it hasn’t been proven in a “study” and that it is just an MLM scheme and all a part of being brainwashed by Plexus sales people. They don’t want to hear, acknowledge or believe in the actual results that we have gotten. But don’t let them discourage you. To each their own.
Have a nice day.
M
M,
For someone who claimed “the discussion between us completed.”, you sure are intent for keeping a battle going. The information I (and Joe) have supplied is just as valid as any anonymous testimonials from the likes of you and anyone else.
Apparently, what we have supplied is enough to cause you enough consternation to be in here at all times and champion an unsubstantiated product that has zero clinical information available. Go ahead, ingest as much as you possibly can. I have no issue with that. Your body, your decision, you deal with the after effects.
But please spare us the hypocrisy when you rail against medications that cause death. Supplements, just like Plexus, have been known to cause death as well other health issues.
Michael,
My post was to Tina, not you; therefore, I am not battling, nor discussing with you.
Have a nice day.
M
“Just as a heads up: there are a few people on this site that, after reading your post, will say that what you have posted can’t possibly be true because it hasn’t been proven in a “study””
This is a direct jab at me. We went over this topic and you couldn’t sensibly debate things, turning to vulgarity and insults. You are dragging this out and using off-hand comments to stoke things up. If Plexus is such a wonderful product, then let it sell itself. It wouldn’t need your defense if it is as great as you claim.
Tina, I meant to say “Hard to believe that birth control can be fatal”. Sorry for that typo.
M
I just discovered your website, thank you for the open and honest reviews. There are so many conflicting reviews and accounts out there, it can be very confusing.
As a nutritionist myself, I want to pull my hair out and the amount of clients who come to me who tried the whole diet drink thing and still are sick, have gained weight back or have wasted boat loads of money.
I got so sick and tired of seeing so many of my Facebook friends posting and touting the benefits of Plexus and what it can do for you, I actually blocked all these friends posts from my timeline.
It also led me on to write a blog about it. If you are interested, you can check it out here. http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/wont-be-skinny-with-weight-loss-shakes/
I talk about how these drinks may be good, well and fine, but it is missing key points in getting healthy and achieving optimal health.
Hi Sandra, happy you found me and that was an interesting post you wrote also. It’s a good point you made about how just cutting out the garbage often leads to weight loss – shake or no shake.
Sandra,
What you said – “getting healthy and achieving optimal health” is the key issue I have with people touting supplements. Simple weight loss via starvation (and let’s be honest – that’s what Plexus does) is not making one’s body healthier. If you lose 5 pounds of water weight, that does nothing to alter metabolism or change one’s aerobic capacity.
Only through a combination of dietary changes and exercise that targets a person’s aerobic capacity can one be getting “healthier”. This is something that the Plexus minions just do not want to believe.
You can consume all the stimulants, suppressants, and laxatives you want to. It does not make you healthier. It makes you chemically dependent.
I just wanted to chime in with my experience using Plexus products. My boyfriend’s mom became a Plexus Ambassador and left me a sample of the pink drink but I waited months to try it. In that time, I watched her lose some weight and inches and eventually I ordered it. She said she lost 10 pounds in two months but she honestly looked like she lost more than that.
I started Plexus Slim and Accelerator+ last Friday and I lost 5.4 pounds and 1.5 inches. Plexus gave me enough energy that I cut out my daily Red Bull completely. It actually makes me thirsty enough that I can get half my body weight (in ounces) of water into my system with no problem (and considering I NEVER drank plain water before starting Plexus, I’m sure that switching to a calorie-free beverage has been the main reason for my weight loss). I find now that I have more energy and am less hungry and tend to eat about half of what I was eating when I sit down to a meal.
I am not saying that Plexus is the end all be all. I’ve tried a lot of products and even had gastric bypass three years ago (lost and kept off 80 pounds but want to drop another 40 to get to a normal BMI). I am sure that changing my habits and replacing calorie-laden drinks with water has been the main reason I’ve lost weight.
But Plexus has definitely given me the kickstart and motivation I needed. Yes, it’s probably because of all of the money I’ve spent on the products, but I feel better taking them, so I am going to give it a few more months and see what my results are.
I do not sell the product and in fact, I bought it at retail price. I don’t have the time or desire to worry about joining the MLM portion of it.
Lilli, thanks for writing and sharing and I am happy that PS and even though I have reservations about the accelerator +, Im glad its helping you and its ok. nice website you have. I like red velvet cupcakes too 😉
Hi Joe, You don’t have to post this but I wanted to tell you that I appreciate what you do here with your website. Its very informative and I have yet to find an error on anything that you have posted (lol) kidding But really you are helping many people out there and I know you are saving a lot of people from having to learn the hard way about some of these products. I believe you are saving lives as well.
So I just wanted to say Thank you. I always wanted to be a nurse and I have an extensive background in the medical field so I think I appreciate what you do even more than just the regular old Joe or Sally! I do have one question what would you recommend as a supplement for weight loss, lowering blood sugar and possibly giving you added energy?
I just don’t think there is anything out there that really gives you energy. I think that boils down to eating right and staying active and one more IMPORTANT thing smiling at yourself in the mirror and laughing. I know it sounds silly but its been said that when you smile and laugh it increases your endorphins and does something to your brain maybe with the serotonin. I don’t know but it has worked for me. Maybe just plain mind over matter lol
Be Well!
livvia70, Thanks for saying all that! Are you working out? I think that will give you energy more than any supplement. most supplements that claim to boost energy just contain stimulants. I do think the safets of things as far as supplements are concerned are those that have fiber. Here is a link to a blog post I wrote on my personal site where I discuss the different types of supplements and what I feel are safest. I also included other things as well that can help.http://www.joe-cannon.com/what-weight-loss-supplements-work/
Joe, do you know a nutritionist, biochemist by the name of Rena Davis, out of Oregon? What is your opinion of nutritionist that do Iridology? I sent her photos of my eyes and she has read them and is recommending whole food supplements through a company Standard Process. Have you heard of any of these dealings?
Hi Carolyn, Im not familiar with Rena Davis. I looked her up and her linkedin profile says shes a clinical nutrition consultant and a place called Total Healing. I’m not sure what clinical nutrition consultant means (is it a degree, certification etc)? I see various things about irdology. Some say its baloney but I’m just not sure. as its not something Ive spent a lot of time researching. As for the whole food supplement she recommended, is the company that makes it called “standard process?” If yes Id be interested in seeing evidence that particular product worked. Have you run this past your personal doctor to see if her diagnosis lines up with what they say? have you asked her if you can just eat the food instead of the supplement?
Joe, thanks for responding, I sure didn’t expect it, especially so soon. Thank you. Rena has done this work for 47 years according to her. She also promotes a products called Laminine and HempVac. She doesn’t sell them but promotes them, I’m sure cash is a product there somewhere. She charges $100 for reading my eyes then changes for the supplements she recommends. She buys the supplements through Standard Process, then sells them to you.
I’ve had 14 major us,greenies, Lupus, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, insomnia, severe pain and nausea all the time. After reading my eyes this is her response, there is a systemic infection, including in the lymph system, candida overgrowth, some small parasites, transverse colon, upper quadrant not good.
She says I need LivCo for liver, bile production-nausea and Echinacea Premium. My best friend found her through someone and has already spend probably $4000 with her and her sister that has many medical problems is also using her and says she has helped with several of her issues, she’s spent about $1000.
I’m crying right now, because I’m just scared not to try her and scared to try her and spend so much money. You know how physicians are, if I go to mine she can’t see me but for one problem at a time. I’m tired of taking pain pills to live, and I don’t sleep and I’m nauseated all the time as well as I’m just rehabbing from a hip replacement that occurred the end of April, this was after falling last September and fracturing 4 bones in my pelvis.
I’m 65, happily married and my husband just retired January, 2013 and we want to live our lives. I feel like I need to detoxify my body from all the medicine I’ve taken over the past 12 years. I had a bad car accident in 1996 and it’s been down hill since. I could be a lot worse, I don’t have cancer etc, but how in the world do we get well in the world we live in? You’re a doll for answering me and a saint for listening to me. We just don’t know where to turn!
Carolyn, Online they say she is a biochemist. Do you know what biochem degrees she has? Is it a PhD, MS, BS degree etc? I dont see a website for her or her business so I cant tell.
I can imagine what you are going through and justifiably scared to spend that amount of money. 1000 – 4000 is a LOT of money. I’d be lying if I didn’t say my “spider sense” was tingling over the idea of spending that much money. I also empathize with your frustration. Has your best friend found improvement after spending $4000?
I did see her online talking about Laminine. While I have not looked at that supplement, a buddy of mine has and here is his review http://www.drbillofhealth.com/nutrition/lifepharm-globals-laminine-independent-review-of-marketing-claims/ Looking over the product history, it raised red flags for me also.
she said you have small parasites in you. did she tell you the name of the parasite ? if yes, then you can get a test to see if you really do have it in you or not. Being able to test for that parasite would go a long way for me to believe some of the other stuff she says.
Here is something in irridology which is skeptical of it
http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/iridology/
As I said, Im not an expert on this stuff. While I tend to be rather skeptical of things also, Im also open to stuff I don tknow much about. That said, it has to make sense to me scientifically. some of the things I hear about irdeology just make me want to be cautious about it.
I’d say if money is tight, then before investing that much money, see if your best friend has significantly improved and also try to test for that parasite she said is in your colon. Your doctor can test for this. Explain to him /her what you are thinking of doing. I want you to get better as much as you do. I’d just like to have some reassurance that the money you spend will do the trick.
how does that sound?
Joe, I can’t even tell you what you have done for me today. I’m going to read the websites you gave me, the one on Laminine is quite long. I hope you don’t mind if I write you again after I’ve read both of them. You seem to be pointing me in a rational direction.
My friend is taking between 40-60 supplements a day, plus vaporing HempVac and taking Laminine. No, she’s not that much better, but has been told it takes time. I hope to write you again in the next few days. I hope you don’t mind. God Bless what you’re doing for people. You’re a watchdog aren’t you? Have a great weekend.
Carolyn, sure thing Ill be glad to talk to you again. I’m glad Ive been of some help. Do have a great day 🙂
Joe,
One other thing before I forget, have you heard anything about a company called Kannaway, they sell things that you smoke with that has hemp oil in it. It’s suppose to help with pain. You puff it four or five times a day with four to five puffs per time. If you have a website to read I’d be happy to read it.
Carolyn, when you say hemp and pain, I think about people smoking pot for pain. I know some people say smoking pot helps pain. I’ve never heard of smoking hemp oil for pain but I also admit to not knoing anything about it at this time. When I think about though, given that pot is beginning to become legal in more and more states, I would not be surprised if people started “supplementing” with hemp products for pain.
Id ask for “published peer reviewed studies” showing hemp oil -smoking it too – helped your specific type of pain.
I have taken it for a week the Plexus Slim. I have dieted all my life. I only lost like 2 pounds but I have stopped drinking Dr. Pepper and drown myself with water all day. I have slept better and moved around a lot more. Don’t know if I am going to lose a lot of weight but just like the way it mays me feel. Also don’t drink as much wine!!
Emma, it sounds like those things you stopped doing, contributed to your weight loss. if Plexus Slim helped you to do this then great, keep dong what you are doing. If you dont notice any differences in weight then I think you can stop PS and just keep doing those other things -less wine, no Dr Pepper, drinking more water.
Again, introducing more hydration to your body rather than high sugar and alcoholic drinks will have a much more measurable effect than any appetite suppressants. The lady above mentioned better sleep – if you’re hydrated, you’re certainly not waking up with cotton mouth and hot flashes.
One other thing – this month’s Plexus talking points will be about how Plexus isn’t some quick weight loss product. You must work to get results. According to one ambassador: “Plexus is NOT a quick fix! Taking Plexus does not mean you can eat carelessly and be a coach potato. Too often people want results without putting out any effort; that’s unrealistic and they will fail.”
This same ambassador posted originally how this product would yield results without having to change anything in your life. And you will find numerous other ambassadors who claim that they never changed anything. Things like: “I’m 10 pounds lighter after taking Plexus Slim for 5 weeks and I’ve kept it off for 5 months…no problem. I didn’t change my diet, I just drank one Pink Drink a day.”
Emma,
PS did the same for me, in that it helped suppress my cravings for sweets, (diet) sodas, sugary products, etc. I also want to tell you not to get discouraged if you don’t lose a lot of weight as fast as you hope to, because PS seems to show more results in the area of inches lost. I had a minimum goal of losing 20, which I have reached, but what is even better is that I have gone down a full 6 sizes in my clothes (before: size 10 pants/large tops; now: size 3 pants/small tops) since I started PS.
I have several other friends who have also reached their goals (which were much higher than mine) and are satisfied with the weight loss, but more satisfied with the inches lost.
I hope that you continue to have success with it. One thing that I would highly recommend is to check with your primary doctor to get the ok to keep using it, just in case.
Good luck and have a great day!!
M
