Update 7/10/20. Plexus Slim is billed as an “affordable weight management product” that boasts “no ill side effects” based on “extensive clinical research.” Impressive, but does PlexusSlim work or is it a scam? And does it really have no side effects? I was tipped off to Plexus Slim by one of the readers of this website. After looking at its ingredients, I wanted to write a review of Plexus Slim because of the words used to describe the product and because Plexus Slim seemed to have ingredients that I have never heard of before. Let's see what we can discover about this weight loss drink. Also read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +) and Plexus Boost, Plexus ProBio5 and Plexus Hunger Control after you read this, for additional information.
Update: The formula for Plexus Slim was changed a bit since this review was written so also read the review of the new plexus slim formula.
Who Makes Plexus Slim?
According to the Better Business Bureau, the company that makes Plexus Slim – Plexus Worldwide Inc. – was started in 2005 in Arizona. The address of the company is 7440 E. Karen Dr. #400, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.
Update. PlexusWorldWide.com, the company website, now lists this corporate address: 15649 N. Greenway Hayden Loop Scottsdale, AZ 85260. Googling this address shows a large building that says “Plexus Slim” on the outside. That's good.

Update. The Better Business Bureau now lists this address for the company: 9145 E Pima Center Pkwy Scottsdale, AZ 85258-4627
The BBB gives Plexus Slim a rating of “A+” See the BBB file for updates and other information.
To buy Plexus Slim it looks like you either have to buy it from the company or through a PlexusSlim distributor. They call Plexus Slim distributors “Ambassadors“. On the Plexus Slim website, they have a calendar of Plexus Slim events.
These events serve not only to sell Plexus Slim but also to recruit new Ambassadors. Plexus Slim has a multi-level marketing (MLM) aspect to it.
I have no problem with MLM. If the product is reputable, MLM allows people to make an income which can be significant.
Plexus Slim Nutrition Information
In an effort to keep this review up to date, here are the ingredients in Plexus Slim as they appeared in 2016. According to the label shown on the product website, each packet of Plexus Slim has the following nutrition information and ingredients:
Ingredient | Amount Per Serving | Percent Daily Value |
---|---|---|
Calories | 10 calories | |
Total Carbohydrdate | 3 grams | 1% DV |
Chromium Polynicotinate | 200 micrograms | 167% DV |
Plexus Slim Blend (composed of the following) | 530 mg | N/A |
Garcinia Cambogia Fruit Extract | ||
Green Coffee Bean Extract | ||
Alpha Lipoic Acid |
In the table above, N/A means no daily value established.
Each of the ingredients will be summarized below. I will leave in the summaries of the ingredients present in the original plexus slim formula too to help others doing their own research.
See the review of the new plexus slim formula too.
Plexus Slim Ingredients
Polydextrose
This is a type of soluble fiber. In theory, this might help weight loss since it has no calories and is a type of fiber. Polydextrose might cause gas and bloating.
Citric Acid
In some products, citric acid is used as a preservative and to enhance flavor. While it naturally occurs in citrus fruits, its use in foods/ supplements may be from natural or synthetic means.
Beet Root
If Plexus Slim uses the entire beetroot, the fiber content of the beetroot might help foster some weight loss because it adds bulk to the stomach contents. That said, I can't locate any evidence that beetroot helps people lose weight. The product label states the beetroot is to give the product color. Beets do have a red color. Beetroot probably contributes to the pink color of the product.
Beets and beetroot juice have gotten attention from the scientific community because of their ability to raise nitric oxide, a compound that can relax blood vessels, allowing blood to more easily travel through the body. See my review of SuperBeets for more on this topic.
Grape Skin Extract
Grape skin contains phytonutrients such as proanthocyanidins and proanthocyanidins which act as antioxidants. While this is very good, does grape skin extract help people lose weight? Other than having some fiber (which might act as a laxative) I can't find any proof that it does.
Update. I'm told Plexus Slim no longer contains grape skin extract
Lo Han Extract
The scientific name for this ingredient is Siraitia grosvenorii. This is also called “lou han guo” and “monk fruit.” By either name, it's often used as a sweetener. This ingredient, like steveia below, is likely added for flavoring.
Stevia
This is a sweetener. Some supplement companies may call it by another name -“rebaudioside A.”
Stevia is added to many low-calorie foods. In theory, using low calorie (or no-calorie) sweeteners might help weight loss but I'm not sure if this is the answer. There are MANY low-calorie foods and beverages on the US market, yet Americans are not slimmer than they were, say, in the 1980s.
Natural Flavors
They don't tell us what these natural flavors are. To be fair, most companies don't. They don't have to under the law. Regardless, I doubt any of them play a role in weight loss.
Green Coffee Bean
This is also called Chlorogenic Acid. One study published in 2010 noted that chlorogenic acid helped weight loss and increased fat burning when in rats that were fed a high-fat diet (37% of calories from fat).
This is interesting even though it's a rat study. Another rat study also noted that mulberries (which also contain chlorogenic acid) helped the weight loss. But was it the chlorogenic acid – or all the other stuff mulberries?
In one small study 16 overweight people were given either a placebo or different amounts of green coffee extract (which contains chlorogenic acid) at either 700 mg or 1050 mg day for 6 weeks (each person was given each treatment for 6 weeks).

People getting the green coffee extract (both dosage amounts) were shown to have significant reductions in body weight, body mass and percent body fat compared to placebo. The type of green coffee extract used in this study was supplied by Applied Food Sciences Inc.
Retracted
It sounds great BUT, the study has been “retracted.” This means it should not be considered as evidence due to errors with how the study was performed. In the words of the authors, the study was retracted because the authors could not “assure the validity of the data.” Click here to read the retraction.
See the Green Bean Coffee Review for more information.
See the weight loss supplement scam review.
Rosmarinic Acid
This is a plant chemical found in many herbs, including rosemary. This is probably where Rosmarinic Acid gets its name from. Rosmarinic acid has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I was unable to find any studies showing that Rosmarinic Acid helps weight loss in humans or animals.
Hydroxycinnamic Acid
This compound is an antioxidant but whether or not it contributes to weight loss needs further study.
Garcinia Cambogia
This was originally called “Citrin K” when I first reviewed Plexus Slim. Garcinia cambogia is found in MANY weight loss supplements because of some research that it might reduce appetite and help weight loss. Right now, I think all anyone can say is maybe it works or maybe it doesn't work.
In this study, 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia did not help people lose weight. I mention this because if this study is correct, then it might take more than 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia if it's going to work. The entire proprietary blend in Plexus Slim adds up to 530 mg. While Garcinia Cambogia is the first ingredient listed – which presumably means it makes up the most of the blend – how much that equates to, I cannot say.
See the Garcinia Cambogia review
Also, read the review of supplements linked to liver failure.
Alpha-lipoic Acid
This is an antioxidant and it helps it turn carbs into energy. It can also help regenerate other antioxidants, which is pretty snazzy.
There are a few studies of alpha-lipoic acid and weight loss. In one study, alpha-lipoic acid was randomly given to 360 obese people for 20 weeks. Half got a placebo and half got alpha-lipoic acid (either 1200 mg/day or 1800 mg per day). Those getting alpha-lipoic acid lost more weight than those who got the placebo. Basically, people lose about 2% of their body mass.
In another study, 1127 overweight people were given 800 mg of alpha-lipoic acid a day for 4 months. This study noted that alpha-lipoic acid, at the dosage given, helped people lose about 8% of their body weight over 4 months.
So if you were 200 pounds, alpha lipoic acid might help you lose about 200 x .08 = 16 pounds. That is a significant amount in my book.
One possible problem with this study though was that it doesn't appear that there was a placebo group to compare the weight loss too. I was also unable to determine (because I only read the summary of the study) if people combined alpha-lipoic acid with eating fewer calories (I think they might have ).
Alpha-lipoic acid is the last ingredient listed in the proprietary blend. As such, it likely makes up the least of the 530 mg total.
Oxypregnane Steroidal Glycoside
This is a pretty fancy name but you have heard of this stuff before. Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside – is just a fancy way of saying Hoodia! Here is a study that proves that both names mean the same thing.
I think they call it Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside because they are trying to make the product sound different and special. In reality, it's just hoodia Gordonii.
The other fancy name for hoodia is P57AS3 – you have probably seen this listed in other supplements as “P57“.
I've already reviewed hoodia and weight loss. Other supplements that I've reviewed previously that contain hoodia include the
For at least 10 years, hoodia Gordonii has been in more weight loss supplements than you can shake a stick at – but there is no good proof that hoodia supplements help people lose weight.
Study. Researchers gave hoodia or a placebo to 50 overweight people for 2 weeks. The people in the study were allowed to eat as much as they wanted from a menu provided by the researchers. Results: hoodia did not cause any weight loss.
While no serious side effects were reported, researchers did note that people who got hoodia had higher blood pressures and heart rates compared to people who got the placebo. Hoodia also seems to cause elevations in bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase. What caused these changes I do not know.
Update. Plexus slim no longer contains hoodia. See my review on the New Plexus Slim Formula for more info on how it has changed.
Chromium Polynicotinate
Plexus slim contains a type of chromium they call “amino nicotinate”. This is fancy talk for “chromium nicotinate”. (it is now called “chromium polynicotinate on the label).
You may have heard Dr. Oz talk about chromium polynicotinate on TV. I reviewed what Dr Oz had to say about this form of chromium and I am guessing that this is why Plexus Slim includes chromium nicotinate over the sometimes more popular, chromium picolinate.
Chromium may help lower blood sugar levels but as for its effects on weight loss, I am highly skeptical. For more on chromium, see my reviews of chromium weight loss research and chromium polynicotinate.
Blood Sugar Lowering Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients might reduce blood sugar:
- Alpha-lipoic acid
- Chromium nicotinate (now called chromium polynicotinate)
Fiber Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients all might add fiber to Plexus Slim:
- Polydextrose
- Grape skin (no longer in plexus slim) See my review of the new PS formula.
- Hoodia (maybe. no longer in Plexus Slim)
How Much Does Plexus Slim Cost?
One of the slogans for Plexus Slim is “At last, an affordable weight management product.” I guess that depends on how you define “affordable”. On the Plexus Slim website, they have different prices depending on whether you want to buy it just once or be billed each month automatically.
If you want to buy Plexus Slim one time only, its $84.95. If you want to be billed automatically at the 15th of each month, Plexus Slim is $79.95/ month.
Is Plexus Slim OK When Breast-Feeding?
Some women have wondered if they can take Plexus Slim while they are breastfeeding? That's not something I would recommend because if any of the ingredients in Plexus Slim pass into breast milk, then their baby will be getting those ingredients too.
I don't know for sure if any of the ingredients do get absorbed into breast milk, so I do recommend that women take the ingredients in Plexus Slim to their doctor to see if they can get a better answer.
How Much Caffeine?
The Plexus Slim Nutrition label states that it has less than 2% of naturally occurring caffeine. My guess is that the caffeine comes from the green coffee bean extract because this statement is listed next to the green coffee bean ingredient on the label. I'm not sure how much 2% natural caffeine equals.
Plexus Slim and ADHD
Since writing this review I've heard that this product may be marketed to help Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). A search on Google reveals several testimonials from people saying that it helps. I became curious and searched for “Plexus ADHD research.” I searched Google for this phrase and I also searched the National Library of Medicine too.
I saw no clinical studies on this topic. Therefore, whether it Plexus helps ADHD or not is unknown as far as I can tell. Nobody appears to have undertaken the chore of taking this stuff into the lab and actually tried to really see if it helps or not.
The same thing also seems to be true for bipolar disorder and depression. I cannot find any evidence Plexus Slim directly helps either of these conditions either.
Having said that, lack of evidence doesn't necessarily mean something does not work. Rather, it just means that it seems that, other than testimonials (from people most of us don't know), there doesn't seem to be any good proof for it yet.
How To Contact Plexus Slim
PlexusWorldWide lists this contact phone number: 480-998-3490 which people can call 6 AM-6 PM (PST) Monday -Friday and 9 AM-2 PM (PST) on Saturday.
How To Return Plexus Slim
Plexus Slim products come with a 60-day money-back guarantee. For those who purchased from Plexus Ambassadors, contact that person for details on how to return the product, or call the company itself at 480-998-3490.
Does Plexus Slim Have Any Side Effects?
On the Q and A page of the Plexus Slim website (question 7) where it's asked: “Will Plexus Slim interfere or react with any medications or other supplements?” the makers say: ” No. Extensive clinical research has demonstrated no ill side effects with any medications or other supplements.”
Where is all the “extensive clinical research” on Plexus Slim? As far as I can tell, Plexus Slim has NEVER been tested in published studies to see if it interacts with any medication or health condition.
The only study I've seen on Plexus Slim is a summary of a study they show on their website. This is a study from 2008 where they gave the product to 8 people with type II diabetes. Yes, improvements were seen in blood sugar, body weight and other things, but this is not a published, peer reviewed study. As such, there is a lot we are not told about how this study was conducted. It may be the best study in the world, but if we can't see how it was conducted, then it can't be duplicated by other scientists.
That said, in healthy people, I think Plexus Slim (the pink drink product) is safe. Below are some theoretical side effects based on its ingredients.
Grape skin. Some components of grape skin might interfere with medications such as Coumadin (a blood thinner). I'm not aware of any human evidence of this, but because blood thinners can intact with many things, its best to talk to a doctor about this. Update. grape skin is no longer in plexus slim
Chlorogenic acid. This compound might raise homocysteine levels in humans. Homocysteine is a somewhat controversial molecule because some feel it might be linked to heart disease.
See my review of chlorogenic acid for more info.
Citrin K/ Garcinia cambogia. There is some controversial evidence that Garcinia Cambogia may be linked to liver problems. Personally, I'm not yet convinced it does this. For more info on this see my review of garcinia Cambogia.
Alpha-lipoic acid. This ingredient appears to lower blood sugar. Because of this, alpha-lipoic acid might interfere with insulin and other diabetes medications. Alpha-lipoic acid seems to reduce thyroid hormone levels. This can be a problem for people who take Levothyroxin for hypothyroidism (low thyroid).
Hoodia. As I reported in my book on supplements hoodia Gordonii seems to share some chemical similarity to a class of heart drugs called cardiac glycosides. In fact, if you Google “Hoodia and cardiac glycosides.” I don’t know the clinical significance of this. That said, if you have heart or blood pressure issues please see your cardiologist before using any hoodia supplement, just to be safe.
Chromium may lower blood sugar levels. While this can be a good thing, it also means chromium might interact with blood-sugar-lowering medications. This might – in theory – make blood sugar levels to too low.
As a general, blanket statement, I would be cautious if you have any problems with your heart, blood pressure, kidneys, liver, mental disorders, diabetes or digestive problems. I would not recommend Plexus Slim if you had bariatric surgery either. To their credit, the makers of Plexus Slim do say to see your doctor first if you are pregnant. I agree with this.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator
Update: The Accelerator formula has changed significantly and the product is now called Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +). Do read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus for additional information on the new product.
This is another product sold on the Plexus Slim website. The word “accelerator” is a tip-off that this product is a stimulant.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator contains trace minerals, calcium, and magnesium from seaweed (both are useless for weight loss) and vitamin B6 (useless for weight loss). The accelerator also has a “proprietary blend” of:
- Dark Chocolate – won't help weight loss, unless it has caffeine
- Natural Caffeine – natural or not, it's caffeine!
- Green Tea Extract – probably has caffeine or EGCG
- Vanadium Chelate. This is the fancy name for Vanadium. It won't help weight loss.
- B-Phenylethylamine HCl – might act as a neuro-chemical. Avoid if you take antidepressants.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator also has an ingredient called GeranaX. GeranaX is a reference to geranium oil. Geranium oil is controversial in some circles because it is thought by some to be a natural source of a stimulant called Dimethylamylamineor “DMAA. ” It's scientific name is 1,3 Dimethylamylamine and its also called Methylhexaneamine.
The name “GeranaX” is a made-up word. In other words, the name GeranaX holds no scientific meaning.
Geranium has been the subject by scrutiny by the military, whose research finds that geranium does not contain DMAA. Oddly, the supplement 411 website still lists “geranium” as an alternative name for DMAA in its listings. Currently, it is controversial if geranium is a source of DMAA or not.
As of July 2013, the Australian government warned people about the Plexus Slim Accelerator because they say it had DMAA. This link goes to the Australian government website that discusses the Plexus Slim Accelerator and DMAA.
- In April of 2013, the FDA issued a warning letter about DMAA.
- Here is a New York Times article on DMAA for more information.
The ingredient DMAA seems to act like ephedra or bitter orange (synephrine) which are potent stimulants. As such, it may raise blood pressure and heart rate to dangerous levels. Here is a case report of a 21-year-old man who suffered a stroke after taking 2 DMAA pills.
This does not mean plexus slim will do this. It would depend on whether DMAA really is in geranium and also which part of the plant was used (root, stems ect).
Di methy amyl amine “looks” like amphetamines (“speed”). This may be why question 6 of the Plexus Slim Q and A page mentions that this ingredient may cause a positive result on a drug test for amphetamines. Here is a study showing that dimethylamylamine causes false positive drug tests for amphetamines.
Plexus Slim Bio-Cleanse
This is a laxative. Always remember, the word “cleanse” means laxative. The Plexus Slim Bio Cleanse supplement lives up to its laxative name because it contains magnesium, which is indeed a laxative. Remember “Milk of Magnesia.” Either way, laxatives don't cause any weight loss other than mostly water (and of course, poo). The Plexus Slim website lists 2 prices for this product – $29.95 or $39.95 -both of which are too pricey for me.
Plexus Boost
Here is my review of Plexus Boost. I cover a lot of information in this review and I also compare it to the ingredients in Accelerator Plus as well.
Plexus Slim Fast Relief
The Fast Relief product appears to be a pain relief formula that exists in both a cream and capsule form. One of the ingredients in Fast Relief is Lyprinol. This compound comes from the green-lipped mussel, hence the slogan “Full Body Relief, From the Sea-Naturally.” You may know this product by its other name – as Omega XL which is advertised on TV with Larry King.
For more information, see the review of Omega XL.
Will Plexus Slim Work?
Honestly, I'm not if it works because Plexus Slim – itself- has no published proof. If you read the comments below, you'll see some people do say it's helped them lose weight. If it works, is it because of the unique blend of ingredients in Plexus Slim or is it because of just a few key ingredients alone?
Here are Plexus Supplements on Amazon
I tried this product and I can tell you I did not get no results from the product for weight loss and metabolism problems. All it did was bloat me up so bad for weeks so uncomfortable. no weight loss just felt terrible from the bloat.I tried it for 20 days to give it a chance to work for me. this product is not CHEAP. I did not sleep better as I was told … I would not recommend this to my friends only because it did not do what it says AND what I was told. just sucks that I spent over 100 dollars for a belly ache for weeks..thumbs down

Have you checked out Joe’s recipe for smoothies? They are delicious, healthy, fills me up, and gives me plenty of energy. If interested, I’m sure he will provide the info. for you. Ingredients a little pricy, but still way less than PS, and in my opinion, taste a heck of a lot better. I make up a batch, freeze, and drink accordingly.
This sounds like nothing more than a hocus pocus cure-all concoction that works for those who believe in it. One could crush a combination of vitamins and herbs and create a similar product that would probably produce a better outcome.
I just wanna know. Is it or is it not a good pill for losing weight?
Folks, I could not believe this when I read it. PS, along with an OPEN BOTTLE OF PS ACCELERATOR. Man, would the FDA love to get wind of this. Can’t get much more “stuipid” than this, not to mention dangerous. This comes from E-bay.
Plexus Slim with OPEN Bottle of Accelerator Capsules!! “Read Details”

Hey Pete,
The person selling the Plexus on Ebay is probably someone who’s read Joe’s review of the product and decided that PS is not for them. Either that or they are dissatisfied with the product some other way. In any case I don’t think that person is an ambassador because we know the company does not allow the sale of its products on any auction site be it eBay,Amazon or any other.
The penalty if caught is too lose your Ambassador status which means you lose any commissions and your customers. They do watch and so does everybody else.
If they are dissatisfied they should have contacted the ambassador they bought it off and asked for a refund. The company offers 60 Days from the original date of purchase.
I also agree with your summation that this person is stupid and so is anyone who buys open packs of anything at all! Could’ve been tampered with!
While I am at it I would like to apologize for my earlier indiscretion as far as the pharm companies are concerned. I have to admit that without the statins they produce I might just as well of been not here to write these comments. I have hyperlipidaemia or did have and it has been those meds over a long period of time that have bought my triglycerides and cholesterol down. With Plexus Slim though I hope to keep it there! So I apologize!
Hi Joe!
Great review. It’s clear to me that you are trying to provide research-based reviews and after reading this entire thread (phew!) I’m wondering if perhaps the people who are experiencing results are experiencing them because of the ingredients listed below that you endorse as potentially helpful weight-loss supplements:
Blood sugar lowering ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients might reduce blood sugar:
Alpha lipoic acid
Chromium nicotinate
Ingredients that have weight loss proof
As a quick reference, the following ingredients are those that I feel have the most weight loss evidence:
Alpha lipoic acid
Garcinia cambogia
I think what Joe is trying to say is that the product might work, some of the ingredients aren’t well researched or my not be efficacious, and that the potentially active ingredients are available in cheaper formulations without the need for direct distributing.
With diet and exercise, I’ve lost 16 lbs in one month but have yet to feel the energy I was hoping. I’m looking for all-natural energy boosters that can help with my continued carb cravings. I’ve purchased a Vita-Mix and make healthy smoothies (fruits and veggies), eat whole foods, lean proteins, and drink lots of water.
I’m interested in additional supplements that can increase my metabolism (shot after years of erratic eating habits) and give me the energy I need to care for my seven children and hard-working husband. No gimmicks…just real, ingredients found in nature. Any suggestions?
Hi Christina, metabolism boosting supplements are tricky because I’m not sure most of them will actually raise metabolism. raising metabolism and having more energy might also not mean the same thing. losing 16 pounds in a month is a lot and I wonder if that fast wt loss might cause you to have decreased energy levels? It also sounds like you have a lot on your plate to begin with (7 kids wow!). I love the idea of the vitamix. I have one too. I wonder if maybe your decreased energy is due to the fast weight loss you recently had. Im sure your weight loss will slow down in the following month etc (which is normal) and this might cause you to have a bit more energy. Sometimes the body just needs time to adjust to weight loss.
Im not sure any supplement can boost your energy levels and I’m hesitant to recommend stimulants like caffeine, energy drinks etc. I think focusing on health, using the vitamix, talking walks – and when you can, giving yourself “you time” so you can relax – will help a lot more than a supplement. I hope some of this helps.
Plexus Slim no longer contains grape skin extract.
JoanV, thanks for that. how come they took it out?
Please change your review and misrepresentation of geranium found in PS Accelerator. Here is your “published” research. Geranium does NOT, according to scientists, contain DMAA. As always, THANKS JOE!!
nutraingredients-usa.com/Research/One-more-time-US-Army-NSF-analysis-shows-DMAA-not-in-geranium#.UjD32229Kc0
Maria, thanks for reminding me about this! I have updated my review with info from the army research.
Thanks Joe!
Howard
It’s hard to believe your statement referring to the pharmaceutical industry as legalized drug peddlers, when you support and industry that has been proven over the years to be responsible for millions of people to lose billions of dollars each year. The MLM industry, and that includes PS, has broken up more marriages, more families, and continues to put more people in severe debt than any other business model on the face of the earth.
Question: Would you even have a job as a nurse if it weren’t for the pharmaceutical industry? Doubt it very seriously.
PS is to young to have side effects. What type of statement is that? All products are “born” with side effects, and with proper clinical studies initially performed, they would be exposed. MLM companies are not regulated as the real phar. industry is and do not have to list side effects.
Howard, If PS is working for you, good, if you enjoy paying for a ridiculous high priced, and in my opinion, unnecessary product. Howard, contact us when your little ambassador “honeymoon” with PS is over. Most don’t.
What is an arse? I have heard the term “rats A–s, but never “rats arse”. Beg your pardon, ladies.
Arse is another word for a$$ Pete. It is commonly used in Australia & England. 😉
Hi Joe,
There is one line at the end of your review stating bariatric patients should not try or use PS. What is the reasoning behind this?
Just curious, I was at a bridal expo and my name got put in the hat for a 7 day trial, I won it and am doing my research before trying it or trashing it.
Snuufflegus, I mentioned bariatric surgery because people who have had that surgery have can problems getting in nutrients/calories to stay healthy. If PS fills people up, it might reduce the chances of people getting in the proper nutrients even more. This could lead to unhealthy weight loss and other medical issues. BTW, I just updated my PS review. I added some things and tried to make it easier to read and find the info people wanted faster. I hope it helps and I hope you find the answers you seek.
Hello Joe,
I have a co-worker who gave me a sample package of PS. I tried it for three days and now two weeks. My diabetes which range from 125 to 175 is now 80 to 136. I have more energy. I have sleep apnea which requires 8 hours of sleep on a cpap. Now without the machine, I wake up in four hours feeling completely rested. I am less hungry. I eat a couple of bites and feel full. I love sweets and now I do not crave or look twice at them. I have to force myself to eat, if not my blood sugar levels are too low causing me to feel anxious and dizzy. My blood pressure did rise about two days 148/89. I have lost 5 lbs. I will try PS for a month before I completely buy into it, but so for I’m pleased with the product.
I have several of my friends trying it as well. We will see in three weeks to determine if we will continue taking the PS. Joe keep up the good work and I will let you know if anything changes while taking PS.
Thank you and may God bless you all,
Eric
Eric, thanks and I hope all continues to go well for you 🙂
Howard
“Proprietary Blend” is a term that some companies use to conceal how much of ingredients are in a particular product so as no one can copy it. Not a patent. If it was worth it, and a any company wanted to find out what, and how much ingredients are in a product it very easily could be done by having a chemist or researcher break it down. Would be expensive, and if any company felt this was the “miracle” product you and others who sell it think it is, it would have already been done..PS is not a threat to anyone, and a true marketing person knows and understands that PS is just another fly by night weight-loss product whose days are numbered.
Saturation of product, and more importantly the recruitment of people, which is really the engine that fuels the company, will cause the death of PS. Remember, most all product and markets for those products have a life-cycle, they experience introduction, growth, maturity, and then decline. Only Coke, Pepsi, and Ivory Soap are still in the growth and maturity stage after many, many years of being on the market. I think it’s fair to say PS will not be the fourth.
Howard there two reasons companies refer to their product as “proprietary blend’. One as stated above, the other is simply to dupe the public in making you believe PS is something different and, or special, it isn’t. Unfortunately, for most MLM companies like PS, the latter is true.
Pete your entitled to your opinion and can also voice it. But this company as young as it is is debt free and earns millions in a year. They are growing by 15% a month. As I have said before I don’t care what is in the product. I take it and it is working for me. My wife takes it and its definitely working for her and neither one of us is suffering any ill side effects. However i do have side effects from the medication I take to try and sort out my diabetes. That side effect is weight gain. We shall see who is right and who is wrong as far as how the long the company will be popular for!
How frightening to know someone takes a product without knowing what is in it but worse not caring.
Thanks for the review Joe. Please disregard Maria. She’s what we on various forums, a troll. The more you respond the more it feeds the troll and they are known to have an insatiable appetite.
Kyle, thanks for that 🙂
Howard
Here we go again! Another, probably new ambassador, unfortunately, uninformed except for what the rah-rah people have programmed you to say and do. Where does Joe get his research from? How about him getting his RESEARCH from RESEARCH. Quite different from where PS gets theirs. Basically, from nowhere, except, in my opinion from people like you that sell the product looking for that elusive dream of wealth that for most cases will never come. Compared to Joe, you know nothing about weight-loss. And please please don’t come back with, “I sell PS to help people.” That my friend, is nothing more than another MLM lie. Admit, you could care less.
Check Joe’s credentials, you will be amazed at what his education and qualifications are to author this site. Once you do, you will see what a fool you are making of yourself. There are his sites on supplements are in the top 20 of all supplement sites on the internet. I would have to say his research and being unbiased are two main reasons.
After 33 yrs. in the pharmaceutical industry, I take offense of the stance you take on the pharmaceuticals industry. You can thank “big pharma” for you and your love ones to have the life expectancy they have today. How dare you to compare PS to all of the products available as a result of the pharmaceutical industry that allows you and others to live a better and longer quality of life. Do they money make all the time. Not hardly. Has PS being through clinical trials (three stages before being approved by the FDA).
The cost of this is tremendous, and even if the new products makes it to the 3rd. level of clinical trials, the FDA still may not approve the product. All those dollars are gone. If a product is approved, the company has to recouped, just like PS, or any other business, and that cost may be upward of $500 million dollars. But, as stated, better quality of life, and life expect. does not come cheap. But, how do you put a price tag on these. You don’t. And you are going to compare that in my opinion, junk to this scenario. Wow! Go back to Kansas, Dorathy.
Doctors making commissions off writing scripts? Been around doctors for long time and NEVER knew one doctors are pharmaceutical company to stoop this low. Maybe in Australia, but not in US. Not worth losing your license for. As it stands today, a pharm. company cannot even give a doctor note pads, or a pen. Are doctors paid to do talks, yes, but there always has to a educational component the talk, and completely unbiased to product offering both sides. The penalties are very strong if these rules broken by anyone breaking them. Use to be the rep. or company fined $250,000, and the rep. usually terminated. The remarks you make are dumbfounded and has no merit at all.
I promise you PS may help you lose weight, but when the chips are down, and it’s coming sooner, not later you will be begging for the products brought to market by the pharmaceutical industry.
Peter as I have already replied The pharmaceutical companies are nothing but legalised drug peddlers and should be ashamed of themselves and use chemicals to make their meds. If they are so good why can’t they cure disease instead of just treating the symptoms? Why do you end up having to take take more medications.
I have a mate that took Lipitor for three years and now every joint in his body has been destroyed as he has a condition that I can;t even pronounce and yet Lipitor is still on the market! Why is it still on the market? Obviously you’re in that particular industry and of course you’re going to defend it to the hilt just like I do PS.
I really don’t give a rats arse what you say. And as far as helping people you don’t know me or how I work from a bar of soap. I do sell the products to help people lose weight. I don’t tell people that they will definitely lose weight because thats a claim that I cannot back up. What I do tell them is that if they do not try they will definitely not lose weight!.
Whether or not people lose weight or not is dependant on what they do. If they continue to eat too much of the wrong food then of course they aren’t going to get the results they want. I am completely upfront with all the people I talk too in relation to this product.
These products are no different to any other. It works for some and not others.
Just another comment on doctors getting commissions. I know a doctor that refused to put any information about Plexus Slim in his surgery because he admitted to not only me but my wife that he would lose to much money by promoting it! Now tell me he is the only doctor getting commissions. As for America I don’t live there and don’t know how things work there so I cannot comment other than to say that it happens here.
I even have had another doctor from the same surgery say that he would prefer not to prescribe medications because of his beliefs and only does so because he gives his patients the choice!
Last word on the subject! Not all the medications that are available help all of the time. Sometimes they work for some and not others. So just like weight loss supplements some work some don’t its hit and miss!
Bottom line is people want the magic bullet for weight loss. They do not want to make the required lifestyle changes such as consistent, diligent exercise and a healthy diet of REAL food to become healthy. They would rather pour chemicals into their bodies, go on some ridiculous severely restricted caloric diet that NEVER WORKS long term for an immediate weight loss then postulate on the benefits of the latest ridiculous diet that DOES NOT WORK.
I’m about to try this PS this morning. I only have a weeks worth
In a week ill be more than happy to let y’all know what it did for me.
Joe, you’re pretty dude. Everyone have a great day!
Tess, thanks 🙂
The Plexus that is being sold on Amazon and EBay sites are being sold against company policy and those “sellers” are not backed by the company. There is a 60 day money back guarantee which most Amazon/EBay sellers will not honor.
Shari, thanks for that information. Id also imagine that anyone who sells on Amazon or ebay or gets complaints would also have to deal with amazon or ebay as well.
I’d like to know where you do your research! Are you qualified to make these assumptions? I am an Ambassador and I am also a diabetic! I have had no ill side effects after taking these products for 4 months except for the ones I expect which is to lower my blood sugar levels, decrease the amount of triglycerides and cholesterol in my blood system and to lower my blood pressure.
As far as the ingredients interfering with the medications I take, well as far as I am concerned thats what I want it to do! You see what most doctors don’t tell you is that they get commissions from the pharmaceutical companies for the scripts they write! All the prescription medications do is treat the symptoms and cause more problems than you originally had therefore leaving you needing more drugs. And here is something else that most people don’t know.
Those medications are poison and they are making people sicker than they normally would be! Meanwhile the pharmaceutical companies are getting richer! Shame on them! They should be held accountable for the misery they cause. They are no better than your average drug peddler! I am going to continue taking the products since I have lost 15 kg in 4 months and my wife has lost 25 kg in about 5 months!
By the way I have more than thirty years experience in the health industry as a nurse! What’s your background? Another thing, the products that are sold by the established companies such as Blackmores for example are no different to these! Companies like Jenny Craig and light and Easy here in Australia they’re different in the way that they offer meals cooked by chefs and overseen by dietitians and nutritionists but as soon as you stop the program you start putting all the weight back on and more!
So what makes them any different to the range of plexus products? What makes any brand of weight loss product or vitamin and mineral supplement any different? Absolutely didley squat. Plexus slim does not promote that every ingredient helps you lose weight.
If you had access to the documents that I have then you would know that the different ingredients have different applications. so unless you have all the facts I would be very careful about what you say about Plexus slim cause you might just find your arse in a sling!
Howard, I’m not going debate with you on who has more letters behind their name but I will say I’m glad are you having good results with PS. That said I felt that listing potential side effects was warranted because overweight people tend to have coexisting health conditions and I never know who reads my words. As a nurse, I know you would agree that everything has side effects. Let me be clear, I do not feel PS is unsafe in most people, esp those who are just over weight without other issues significantly impacting their health.
That said, in those who have other issues, I feel running the ingredients past a pharmacist/doctor is warranted, if for nothing else than to keep health care professionals in the loop on what their patients are doing. As a nurse, I am confident that you likewise believe that people should keep their health care providers informed about what they do to help their health.
As for the documents you say you had access to, that I did not, maybe I would have wrote something different if I had access to them, but I didn’t not see them so I can’t comment. I linked to relevant research on the ingredients.
Since you have access to documents I dont, maybe you can tell me how much chlorogenic acid is in PS? I just updated my PS review with a new study and wanted to compare the amounts. Can you show me the amount in documents you have access to?
Joe,
As a nurse I do agree that people should consult their GP/Physicians before taking anything that is not prescribed and to be honest I always tell my customers just that when they ask about a particular condition or medication. It is the smart thing to do. however, most people are not you or me and they do not seek the advice of their Doctor. I have had at least one instance lately where one doctor told a patient of his that she should stay clear of it and anything like it. But he gave that advice whilst not being informed and when he was shown the ingredients actually changed his mind!
As far as the amount of ingredients are concerned they are not posted in the document. However if you look on the nutrition label the amounts are on those. Now if the ingredients you specifically mention in your original post are part of the proprietary blend then the amounts are not posted. There is a reason I guess but I don’t know what it is!
As for the documents I said I had access to I meant in regards to what they do. Not all of the ingredients are focusing on weight loss as far as I can tell. The way I have interpreted what I have read is that they have specific applications.
For instance, the chromium is supposed to lower blood sugar levels. Let me just say that my diabetes is being controlled better since I have been taking this product and it has been confirmed by my local GP, my local diabetic Nurse who has more than thirty years experience as a Diabetic Nurse and the specialist Endocrinologist a doctor who specialises in Diabetes! So this product must be doing something.
The weight loss is a side effect and if you go onto any of the websites you should be able to find documents that will back up the statement that this product was initially developed for diabetics!
also while I am at it the company and indeed its ambassadors do not promote that it will help everyone lose weight! Or at least I don’t. What they do say is that it may help lower blood sugar levels and may help lower blood pressure and may help keep lipids at a normal level.
They also provide a waiver on most products and documents that says that this product is not meant to diagnose, treat cure or prevent any disease. So I think they are being responsible by doing that and its not their problem if people do not take heed of their warning.
Howard
You are correct when you say most people are not you or me and that is why I listed theoretical side effects to give people something to think about. I do this with pretty much every review I write. As I look over my PS review, I think I could have been more specific about the types of issues that people may want to speak to their doctor about. I will look into this and add more specific recommendations.
Joe this is a young product and has not been around long enough for any side effects to develop. Just like prescribed medications it may take a few years for any to show up. Of course it is possible for some people to be allergic to one or more of the ingredients and if they don’t know of any allergies then they should be tested. If they know about any allergies with any of the ingredients well then the product is not for them.
So far I have not seen any side effects in myself my wife or any of the people we sell this product too!
Howard, one difference is that with meds, there is pre sale testing to gauge what side effects might occur. With PS, the same scrutiny does not occur. This is why I mention potential side effects.
Also Joe as far as side effects go just because side effects have been found to happen in different meds it does not mean that you will experience any. You’re right by saying possible or potential side effects. I wonder if you could do me a favor. Could you explain the difference between possible or potential and actual to your subscribers. And also repeat what I have said here in this post.
The thing with side effects too is that they have varying degrees of severity. In other words some are not as severe as others. so while there may be side effects to all meds good bad or indifferent they are not all life threatening. Some you can live with some you cannot!
I asked my local pharmacist about the ingredients in PS and she said I would be better to do my own research which incidentally I will get around too! If I find anything different to what you have already said I will post it for you and your readers,
Howard, potential side effects are what might happen, given what a persons health issues are in-conjunction with the supplement in question. For example, supplements that have primitive blood thinner properties (vitamin E, glucosamine etc.) interacting with blood thinner meds. Potentially there might be an interaction between these two. True side effects do vary in severity, which again brings me back to erring on the side of caution since I never know who reads my reviews. The real side effects would be those we are statistically sure might happen given what has been learned though published peer reviewed investigations.
Sad that your pharmacist wanted you to do your own research…
As has been stated elsewhere on this page side effects can happen with everything that you inhale, ingest or apply. It is the luck of the draw no matter how many studies or research has been done.
If you are sensitive to any ingredient in anything whether it be ‘all natural’ or chemically man made you will have an adverse reaction and depending on the level of the sensitivity or allergy you have to that particular ingredient depends on the severity of the reaction.
Side effects range from not severe or uncomfortable to life threatening. And also just because a medication or supplement has known side effects it does not mean that everyone who takes them is going to be effected by it.
This is why you have to consult a physician!!!! This is also why plexus say you must consult a physician! I honestly believe that they only make claims due to the feedback from people that take it.
I am diabetic and as such am prone to high blood pressure and cholesterol as well. Now as far as my diabetes and blood pressure there has been some reasonable changes in blood results and with my blood pressure.
I cannot account for these changes in any other way except to say that it must be whats in the Plexus. I have not changed anything I do so dramatically that would effect my diabetes or blood pressure.
With the cholesterol I am not so certain since I have been on statin drugs for many a year. I think those drugs have changed those levels but what I am hoping the Plexus will do is keep them there so that I may come of those drugs. Prescription drugs have there place but as far as I am concerned we would all be better of if we did not need to take them.
As far as been brainwashed is concerned yeah I towed the company line but not any more. I was speaking honestly to a potential customer last night and despite that honesty she bought anyway.
Plexus do not claim that their product will absolutely work for everyone and neither do I. I make it clear to prospective customers that to give themselves the best chance to lose weight is to follow instructions and despite what negative people think they are not that different to a dietitian or Nutritionist or doctor or Physical trainer or anyone else that is qualified to give that information.
If you have and adverse reaction after taking the products then you need to stop simple as that! What people don’t need to do is bag something that has not worked for them!!!! Do you bag everything that you have taken that has not worked?
Just one other thing in regards to selling Plexus. As an ambassador you are running your own business and as such can run it as you see fit! However, Plexus does have guidelines and yes we are not aloud to do or say certain things but that is the same with any business anywhere. If you do not have guidelines or any type of structure when running a business then you are bound to fail!!!!!
I just wish all you people making negative comments about Plexus and network marketing would go away. As far as brainwashing goes I reckon that’s how all advertising agencies work. What advertising does is make a product look appealing so people buy it. They all use similar tactics and how long has it been going for? Why should MLM be any different?
How many other things are advertised that make claims that this particular product does this or that way only to find when you buy it it does not work? A hell of a lot is my guess!
Plexus is a product that has been proven by the people who take it to work for some.Everyone my wife and I sell too have had fantastic results with the exception of one. She has not lost any weight and I wont sell it to her any more because I believe she is wasting her money since its definitely not working for her. That’s all I have to say except Krista I am an advocate for Plexus and my advice to you is to keep going only you truly know that this works for you and no matter how hard you try to convince some people they are not going to listen. No point flogging a dead horse.
Hey while other people are making excuses, we are losing weight and getting paid to do so!
While other people are accusing Plexus of being a scam, we are losing weight and are getting paid to so!
While other people are so negative, we are losing weight and getting paid to do so!
Just remember that!

Here is, I feel, an interesting story as to how far distributors will go in order to deceive people into buying their product, or products. Not saying this involved PS, but one of the reasons in general that prompted me to cancel my ambassadorship, and become an anti-MLM advocate. Agreed, story can’t be verified, but who could come up with a story like this.
I was reviewing some testimonials, which had before and after pictures. One appeared to me to have been altered, so for fun, I took to a friend of mine who was a professional photographer, and an investigator. After reviewing the photo he told me that the photo had not been altered, but the picture was of two different people. I asked him how he knew this and he stated: “New technology has allowed a new security measure and that is to be able to analyze a person’s IRIS (color part of eye) and no two persons are the same, just like a fingerprint. They use it in casinos to detect people who have been banned and may use disguises to try and get back in. In his opinion, the two people in the photo could have been twins, but that would be only one explanation, they were not the same person.”
New FTC regulations are requiring that distributors have to be able to prove there testimonials, but as we all know like most regulations pertaining to MLM, it’s not enforced. PS does say in their policies, and procedures that all testimonials have to be approved by the company before published. There again, obviously not enforced.
I have also been sceptical about testimonials in the past too and didn’t take much notice or them and I have not got access to a friend who can tell if a photo has been retouch or enhanced or changed but I have seen for myself with my customers the difference that Plexus Slim is making. And I am not looking at photographs I am looking at the person in the flesh and see the difference.
I tend to believe some of the photos I see of people using plexus because I know the product is working for me and my wife and I choose to do that until its proven to me me that they have been changed.
ike I said have been sceptical in the past but tend to believe these photos.

I want to say I can’t understand how anyone can put their confidence in testimonials and not proven research. But, I do after been exposed to most ambassadors who are incredibly uninformed, and desperate to say or do anything to sell a bag of this stuff. If all would check, they would find that the majority of all the testimonials are made by people who sell PS and could care less about your health, finances, or well-being.
Be smart folks and realize that testimonials are hear-say and free advertisement for the promoters, and just another conn used by most MLM companies to dupe the public. They are NOT CREDIBLE, period!
