Update 7/10/20. Plexus Slim is billed as an “affordable weight management product” that boasts “no ill side effects” based on “extensive clinical research.” Impressive, but does PlexusSlim work or is it a scam? And does it really have no side effects? I was tipped off to Plexus Slim by one of the readers of this website. After looking at its ingredients, I wanted to write a review of Plexus Slim because of the words used to describe the product and because Plexus Slim seemed to have ingredients that I have never heard of before. Let's see what we can discover about this weight loss drink. Also read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +) and Plexus Boost, Plexus ProBio5 and Plexus Hunger Control after you read this, for additional information.
Update: The formula for Plexus Slim was changed a bit since this review was written so also read the review of the new plexus slim formula.
Who Makes Plexus Slim?
According to the Better Business Bureau, the company that makes Plexus Slim – Plexus Worldwide Inc. – was started in 2005 in Arizona. The address of the company is 7440 E. Karen Dr. #400, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.
Update. PlexusWorldWide.com, the company website, now lists this corporate address: 15649 N. Greenway Hayden Loop Scottsdale, AZ 85260. Googling this address shows a large building that says “Plexus Slim” on the outside. That's good.

Update. The Better Business Bureau now lists this address for the company: 9145 E Pima Center Pkwy Scottsdale, AZ 85258-4627
The BBB gives Plexus Slim a rating of “A+” See the BBB file for updates and other information.
To buy Plexus Slim it looks like you either have to buy it from the company or through a PlexusSlim distributor. They call Plexus Slim distributors “Ambassadors“. On the Plexus Slim website, they have a calendar of Plexus Slim events.
These events serve not only to sell Plexus Slim but also to recruit new Ambassadors. Plexus Slim has a multi-level marketing (MLM) aspect to it.
I have no problem with MLM. If the product is reputable, MLM allows people to make an income which can be significant.
Plexus Slim Nutrition Information
In an effort to keep this review up to date, here are the ingredients in Plexus Slim as they appeared in 2016. According to the label shown on the product website, each packet of Plexus Slim has the following nutrition information and ingredients:
| Ingredient | Amount Per Serving | Percent Daily Value |
|---|---|---|
| Calories | 10 calories | |
| Total Carbohydrdate | 3 grams | 1% DV |
| Chromium Polynicotinate | 200 micrograms | 167% DV |
| Plexus Slim Blend (composed of the following) | 530 mg | N/A |
| Garcinia Cambogia Fruit Extract | ||
| Green Coffee Bean Extract | ||
| Alpha Lipoic Acid |
In the table above, N/A means no daily value established.
Each of the ingredients will be summarized below. I will leave in the summaries of the ingredients present in the original plexus slim formula too to help others doing their own research.
See the review of the new plexus slim formula too.
Plexus Slim Ingredients
Polydextrose
This is a type of soluble fiber. In theory, this might help weight loss since it has no calories and is a type of fiber. Polydextrose might cause gas and bloating.
Citric Acid
In some products, citric acid is used as a preservative and to enhance flavor. While it naturally occurs in citrus fruits, its use in foods/ supplements may be from natural or synthetic means.
Beet Root
If Plexus Slim uses the entire beetroot, the fiber content of the beetroot might help foster some weight loss because it adds bulk to the stomach contents. That said, I can't locate any evidence that beetroot helps people lose weight. The product label states the beetroot is to give the product color. Beets do have a red color. Beetroot probably contributes to the pink color of the product.
Beets and beetroot juice have gotten attention from the scientific community because of their ability to raise nitric oxide, a compound that can relax blood vessels, allowing blood to more easily travel through the body. See my review of SuperBeets for more on this topic.
Grape Skin Extract
Grape skin contains phytonutrients such as proanthocyanidins and proanthocyanidins which act as antioxidants. While this is very good, does grape skin extract help people lose weight? Other than having some fiber (which might act as a laxative) I can't find any proof that it does.
Update. I'm told Plexus Slim no longer contains grape skin extract
Lo Han Extract
The scientific name for this ingredient is Siraitia grosvenorii. This is also called “lou han guo” and “monk fruit.” By either name, it's often used as a sweetener. This ingredient, like steveia below, is likely added for flavoring.
Stevia
This is a sweetener. Some supplement companies may call it by another name -“rebaudioside A.”
Stevia is added to many low-calorie foods. In theory, using low calorie (or no-calorie) sweeteners might help weight loss but I'm not sure if this is the answer. There are MANY low-calorie foods and beverages on the US market, yet Americans are not slimmer than they were, say, in the 1980s.
Natural Flavors
They don't tell us what these natural flavors are. To be fair, most companies don't. They don't have to under the law. Regardless, I doubt any of them play a role in weight loss.
Green Coffee Bean
This is also called Chlorogenic Acid. One study published in 2010 noted that chlorogenic acid helped weight loss and increased fat burning when in rats that were fed a high-fat diet (37% of calories from fat).
This is interesting even though it's a rat study. Another rat study also noted that mulberries (which also contain chlorogenic acid) helped the weight loss. But was it the chlorogenic acid – or all the other stuff mulberries?
In one small study 16 overweight people were given either a placebo or different amounts of green coffee extract (which contains chlorogenic acid) at either 700 mg or 1050 mg day for 6 weeks (each person was given each treatment for 6 weeks).

People getting the green coffee extract (both dosage amounts) were shown to have significant reductions in body weight, body mass and percent body fat compared to placebo. The type of green coffee extract used in this study was supplied by Applied Food Sciences Inc.
Retracted
It sounds great BUT, the study has been “retracted.” This means it should not be considered as evidence due to errors with how the study was performed. In the words of the authors, the study was retracted because the authors could not “assure the validity of the data.” Click here to read the retraction.
See the Green Bean Coffee Review for more information.
See the weight loss supplement scam review.
Rosmarinic Acid
This is a plant chemical found in many herbs, including rosemary. This is probably where Rosmarinic Acid gets its name from. Rosmarinic acid has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I was unable to find any studies showing that Rosmarinic Acid helps weight loss in humans or animals.
Hydroxycinnamic Acid
This compound is an antioxidant but whether or not it contributes to weight loss needs further study.
Garcinia Cambogia
This was originally called “Citrin K” when I first reviewed Plexus Slim. Garcinia cambogia is found in MANY weight loss supplements because of some research that it might reduce appetite and help weight loss. Right now, I think all anyone can say is maybe it works or maybe it doesn't work.
In this study, 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia did not help people lose weight. I mention this because if this study is correct, then it might take more than 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia if it's going to work. The entire proprietary blend in Plexus Slim adds up to 530 mg. While Garcinia Cambogia is the first ingredient listed – which presumably means it makes up the most of the blend – how much that equates to, I cannot say.
See the Garcinia Cambogia review
Also, read the review of supplements linked to liver failure.
Alpha-lipoic Acid
This is an antioxidant and it helps it turn carbs into energy. It can also help regenerate other antioxidants, which is pretty snazzy.
There are a few studies of alpha-lipoic acid and weight loss. In one study, alpha-lipoic acid was randomly given to 360 obese people for 20 weeks. Half got a placebo and half got alpha-lipoic acid (either 1200 mg/day or 1800 mg per day). Those getting alpha-lipoic acid lost more weight than those who got the placebo. Basically, people lose about 2% of their body mass.
In another study, 1127 overweight people were given 800 mg of alpha-lipoic acid a day for 4 months. This study noted that alpha-lipoic acid, at the dosage given, helped people lose about 8% of their body weight over 4 months.
So if you were 200 pounds, alpha lipoic acid might help you lose about 200 x .08 = 16 pounds. That is a significant amount in my book.
One possible problem with this study though was that it doesn't appear that there was a placebo group to compare the weight loss too. I was also unable to determine (because I only read the summary of the study) if people combined alpha-lipoic acid with eating fewer calories (I think they might have ).
Alpha-lipoic acid is the last ingredient listed in the proprietary blend. As such, it likely makes up the least of the 530 mg total.
Oxypregnane Steroidal Glycoside
This is a pretty fancy name but you have heard of this stuff before. Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside – is just a fancy way of saying Hoodia! Here is a study that proves that both names mean the same thing.
I think they call it Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside because they are trying to make the product sound different and special. In reality, it's just hoodia Gordonii.
The other fancy name for hoodia is P57AS3 – you have probably seen this listed in other supplements as “P57“.
I've already reviewed hoodia and weight loss. Other supplements that I've reviewed previously that contain hoodia include the
For at least 10 years, hoodia Gordonii has been in more weight loss supplements than you can shake a stick at – but there is no good proof that hoodia supplements help people lose weight.
Study. Researchers gave hoodia or a placebo to 50 overweight people for 2 weeks. The people in the study were allowed to eat as much as they wanted from a menu provided by the researchers. Results: hoodia did not cause any weight loss.
While no serious side effects were reported, researchers did note that people who got hoodia had higher blood pressures and heart rates compared to people who got the placebo. Hoodia also seems to cause elevations in bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase. What caused these changes I do not know.
Update. Plexus slim no longer contains hoodia. See my review on the New Plexus Slim Formula for more info on how it has changed.
Chromium Polynicotinate
Plexus slim contains a type of chromium they call “amino nicotinate”. This is fancy talk for “chromium nicotinate”. (it is now called “chromium polynicotinate on the label).
You may have heard Dr. Oz talk about chromium polynicotinate on TV. I reviewed what Dr Oz had to say about this form of chromium and I am guessing that this is why Plexus Slim includes chromium nicotinate over the sometimes more popular, chromium picolinate.
Chromium may help lower blood sugar levels but as for its effects on weight loss, I am highly skeptical. For more on chromium, see my reviews of chromium weight loss research and chromium polynicotinate.
Blood Sugar Lowering Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients might reduce blood sugar:
- Alpha-lipoic acid
- Chromium nicotinate (now called chromium polynicotinate)
Fiber Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients all might add fiber to Plexus Slim:
- Polydextrose
- Grape skin (no longer in plexus slim) See my review of the new PS formula.
- Hoodia (maybe. no longer in Plexus Slim)
How Much Does Plexus Slim Cost?
One of the slogans for Plexus Slim is “At last, an affordable weight management product.” I guess that depends on how you define “affordable”. On the Plexus Slim website, they have different prices depending on whether you want to buy it just once or be billed each month automatically.
If you want to buy Plexus Slim one time only, its $84.95. If you want to be billed automatically at the 15th of each month, Plexus Slim is $79.95/ month.
Is Plexus Slim OK When Breast-Feeding?
Some women have wondered if they can take Plexus Slim while they are breastfeeding? That's not something I would recommend because if any of the ingredients in Plexus Slim pass into breast milk, then their baby will be getting those ingredients too.
I don't know for sure if any of the ingredients do get absorbed into breast milk, so I do recommend that women take the ingredients in Plexus Slim to their doctor to see if they can get a better answer.
How Much Caffeine?
The Plexus Slim Nutrition label states that it has less than 2% of naturally occurring caffeine. My guess is that the caffeine comes from the green coffee bean extract because this statement is listed next to the green coffee bean ingredient on the label. I'm not sure how much 2% natural caffeine equals.
Plexus Slim and ADHD
Since writing this review I've heard that this product may be marketed to help Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). A search on Google reveals several testimonials from people saying that it helps. I became curious and searched for “Plexus ADHD research.” I searched Google for this phrase and I also searched the National Library of Medicine too.
I saw no clinical studies on this topic. Therefore, whether it Plexus helps ADHD or not is unknown as far as I can tell. Nobody appears to have undertaken the chore of taking this stuff into the lab and actually tried to really see if it helps or not.
The same thing also seems to be true for bipolar disorder and depression. I cannot find any evidence Plexus Slim directly helps either of these conditions either.
Having said that, lack of evidence doesn't necessarily mean something does not work. Rather, it just means that it seems that, other than testimonials (from people most of us don't know), there doesn't seem to be any good proof for it yet.
How To Contact Plexus Slim
PlexusWorldWide lists this contact phone number: 480-998-3490 which people can call 6 AM-6 PM (PST) Monday -Friday and 9 AM-2 PM (PST) on Saturday.
How To Return Plexus Slim
Plexus Slim products come with a 60-day money-back guarantee. For those who purchased from Plexus Ambassadors, contact that person for details on how to return the product, or call the company itself at 480-998-3490.
Does Plexus Slim Have Any Side Effects?
On the Q and A page of the Plexus Slim website (question 7) where it's asked: “Will Plexus Slim interfere or react with any medications or other supplements?” the makers say: ” No. Extensive clinical research has demonstrated no ill side effects with any medications or other supplements.”
Where is all the “extensive clinical research” on Plexus Slim? As far as I can tell, Plexus Slim has NEVER been tested in published studies to see if it interacts with any medication or health condition.
The only study I've seen on Plexus Slim is a summary of a study they show on their website. This is a study from 2008 where they gave the product to 8 people with type II diabetes. Yes, improvements were seen in blood sugar, body weight and other things, but this is not a published, peer reviewed study. As such, there is a lot we are not told about how this study was conducted. It may be the best study in the world, but if we can't see how it was conducted, then it can't be duplicated by other scientists.
That said, in healthy people, I think Plexus Slim (the pink drink product) is safe. Below are some theoretical side effects based on its ingredients.
Grape skin. Some components of grape skin might interfere with medications such as Coumadin (a blood thinner). I'm not aware of any human evidence of this, but because blood thinners can intact with many things, its best to talk to a doctor about this. Update. grape skin is no longer in plexus slim
Chlorogenic acid. This compound might raise homocysteine levels in humans. Homocysteine is a somewhat controversial molecule because some feel it might be linked to heart disease.
See my review of chlorogenic acid for more info.
Citrin K/ Garcinia cambogia. There is some controversial evidence that Garcinia Cambogia may be linked to liver problems. Personally, I'm not yet convinced it does this. For more info on this see my review of garcinia Cambogia.
Alpha-lipoic acid. This ingredient appears to lower blood sugar. Because of this, alpha-lipoic acid might interfere with insulin and other diabetes medications. Alpha-lipoic acid seems to reduce thyroid hormone levels. This can be a problem for people who take Levothyroxin for hypothyroidism (low thyroid).
Hoodia. As I reported in my book on supplements hoodia Gordonii seems to share some chemical similarity to a class of heart drugs called cardiac glycosides. In fact, if you Google “Hoodia and cardiac glycosides.” I don’t know the clinical significance of this. That said, if you have heart or blood pressure issues please see your cardiologist before using any hoodia supplement, just to be safe.
Chromium may lower blood sugar levels. While this can be a good thing, it also means chromium might interact with blood-sugar-lowering medications. This might – in theory – make blood sugar levels to too low.
As a general, blanket statement, I would be cautious if you have any problems with your heart, blood pressure, kidneys, liver, mental disorders, diabetes or digestive problems. I would not recommend Plexus Slim if you had bariatric surgery either. To their credit, the makers of Plexus Slim do say to see your doctor first if you are pregnant. I agree with this.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator
Update: The Accelerator formula has changed significantly and the product is now called Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +). Do read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus for additional information on the new product.
This is another product sold on the Plexus Slim website. The word “accelerator” is a tip-off that this product is a stimulant.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator contains trace minerals, calcium, and magnesium from seaweed (both are useless for weight loss) and vitamin B6 (useless for weight loss). The accelerator also has a “proprietary blend” of:
- Dark Chocolate – won't help weight loss, unless it has caffeine
- Natural Caffeine – natural or not, it's caffeine!
- Green Tea Extract – probably has caffeine or EGCG
- Vanadium Chelate. This is the fancy name for Vanadium. It won't help weight loss.
- B-Phenylethylamine HCl – might act as a neuro-chemical. Avoid if you take antidepressants.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator also has an ingredient called GeranaX. GeranaX is a reference to geranium oil. Geranium oil is controversial in some circles because it is thought by some to be a natural source of a stimulant called Dimethylamylamineor “DMAA. ” It's scientific name is 1,3 Dimethylamylamine and its also called Methylhexaneamine.
The name “GeranaX” is a made-up word. In other words, the name GeranaX holds no scientific meaning.
Geranium has been the subject by scrutiny by the military, whose research finds that geranium does not contain DMAA. Oddly, the supplement 411 website still lists “geranium” as an alternative name for DMAA in its listings. Currently, it is controversial if geranium is a source of DMAA or not.
As of July 2013, the Australian government warned people about the Plexus Slim Accelerator because they say it had DMAA. This link goes to the Australian government website that discusses the Plexus Slim Accelerator and DMAA.
- In April of 2013, the FDA issued a warning letter about DMAA.
- Here is a New York Times article on DMAA for more information.
The ingredient DMAA seems to act like ephedra or bitter orange (synephrine) which are potent stimulants. As such, it may raise blood pressure and heart rate to dangerous levels. Here is a case report of a 21-year-old man who suffered a stroke after taking 2 DMAA pills.
This does not mean plexus slim will do this. It would depend on whether DMAA really is in geranium and also which part of the plant was used (root, stems ect).
Di methy amyl amine “looks” like amphetamines (“speed”). This may be why question 6 of the Plexus Slim Q and A page mentions that this ingredient may cause a positive result on a drug test for amphetamines. Here is a study showing that dimethylamylamine causes false positive drug tests for amphetamines.
Plexus Slim Bio-Cleanse
This is a laxative. Always remember, the word “cleanse” means laxative. The Plexus Slim Bio Cleanse supplement lives up to its laxative name because it contains magnesium, which is indeed a laxative. Remember “Milk of Magnesia.” Either way, laxatives don't cause any weight loss other than mostly water (and of course, poo). The Plexus Slim website lists 2 prices for this product – $29.95 or $39.95 -both of which are too pricey for me.
Plexus Boost
Here is my review of Plexus Boost. I cover a lot of information in this review and I also compare it to the ingredients in Accelerator Plus as well.
Plexus Slim Fast Relief
The Fast Relief product appears to be a pain relief formula that exists in both a cream and capsule form. One of the ingredients in Fast Relief is Lyprinol. This compound comes from the green-lipped mussel, hence the slogan “Full Body Relief, From the Sea-Naturally.” You may know this product by its other name – as Omega XL which is advertised on TV with Larry King.
For more information, see the review of Omega XL.
Will Plexus Slim Work?
Honestly, I'm not if it works because Plexus Slim – itself- has no published proof. If you read the comments below, you'll see some people do say it's helped them lose weight. If it works, is it because of the unique blend of ingredients in Plexus Slim or is it because of just a few key ingredients alone?
Here are Plexus Supplements on Amazon

Hi Joe. I am looking at your list of ingredients for the accelerator. Can you please point me toward which one is the B-Phenyletylamine HCl? I’m not seeing that listed in their list of ingredients. Thanks!
Paula, Im having trouble finding the online ingredients of the PS accelerator to see where Phenyletalamine listed. Its possible they may have removed it? I will try to check my files next week to see if I have anything on it.
I tried Plexus but was on synthroid and there was no warning. My temp dropped, I was cold all the time, extremely tired in the afternoons, and notified Plexus. What a joke! Their guarantee is worthless. You can only be reimbursed for unopened units. Well, I had opened them before I realized what was causing my problems.
I can’t believe a class action lawsuit hasn’t been filed against Plexus.
Connie, thats the first Ive heard of an interaction between Plexus Slim and thyroid meds. Pete, have you heard anything on this before?
Connie, that is simply not true. Plexus will reimburse you 100% for any product you are not satisfied with as long as it is within the 60 days of purchase…..even if you have taken every last bit of the product. If you purchased from the website, then it will be Plexus who you should call and they will refund your money. If you purchased from a Plexus Ambassador, then they will have to refund your money. The ambassador then will be reimbursed by Plexus.
Oh my! I agree with Penny, definitely not true on the money back guarantee. They offer a 60 day money back guarantee on a 30 day supply… that would be hard to do if the package had to be unopened. I take Synthroid too and I’ve had absolutely no issues. However I am going in more frequently for blood tests because many people get off of their thyroid meds completely while on Plexus. I would much rather have a natural product vs. synthetic hormones.
Hi. Just wanted to say that while I appreciate your review, I know for a fact it works. Don’t really care why, although I did do some research before I bought it. Believe it or not, I really didn’t expect it to work. Nothing else had. I just liked feeling better, and knew for whatever reason, I did feel better. And before you ask, yes. I am an ambassador.
I was one of those folks who bought the membership (signed up lol) to get the discount. That was last May. I tried it because a friend gave me 6 days worth. By July, I realized I was actually losing weight so I started to take it regularly. Today, I am at a total of 93lbs lost. I have 48 more to go to get to my target weight. My18 year old has lost 50lbs since I started him on it in January. In fact my whole family has lost weight.
I don’t have much time for organized exercise, but I can promise you I sure am a lot more active than I was before lol. I didn’t have the energy to cross the room then. I would give it away to people if I could. From my perspective, It is a wonderful product. I’m taking my kids to the water park this year, and I’m actually going to ride the rides.
Shellea, I’m happy for you and your family. I really wanted to give you some information that you otherwise might not have heard, such as what I felt were the active ingredients in Plexus Slim. My words not withstanding if it helped you, then that’s great. I am glad you are being more active also.
Thanks Joe. I am one of those people who like the facts and like being informed. As such, I really appreciate the way you examine everything and include those findings in your reports 🙂
Shellea, thank you for saying that. I’m humbled by your words 🙂

Got word that a new product was introduced at the 2013 PS rah-rah convention. Called the X-Factor. Appears to be very generic. Said that PS researchers discovered the product. HA! HA!. I e-mailed and asked for the research, but we both know want get it. Anxious to hear your thoughts.
Pete if you hear anything else on X Factor let me know. This is the first Ive heard of it.

If true, and I hope it is, your story in amazing. Should be in the NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE. But, its not, because they don’t publish stories, only clinically prove data. For that reason, I personally do not believe you are telling the whole story. Still interesting reading.
I am 45 years old, weighed 389 pounds, on 14 prescriptions and 3 over the counter medications, my illnesses are: type 2 diabetic, pulmonary sarcoidosis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, degenerative disc disease, bipolar II, major depression, anxiety disorder, hypothyroidism, IBS, TMJ, chronic fatigue syndrome, Restless Leg Syndrome, 2 heriniated disc in lumbar spine, carpal tunnel in both hands/wrist, extensive nerve damage in both hands and in both feet, GERD, chronic miagrain headaches, torn rotator cuff in left shoulder, torn meniscus in both knees, also as side effects from medicines, I get dizzy a lot and feel nauseous a lot.
The prescriptions that I take are as follows: Synthroid, Simvistatin, Wellbutrin, Lorazapam, Oxycodone, Promethezine, Metformin, Flexril, Mirapex, Mobic, Geodon, Nexium, Gabapentin, and Trazodone. The over the counter medications, vitamins, and supplements are: Vitamin D3, Malic Acid with Magnesium, and Melatonin.
I have a hard time doing things most people don’t think twice about doing. Things like showering, cleaning house, laundry, cooking, grocery shopping. All that was difficult for me. I had to buy a chair for the shower because I could not stand up long enough to take a shower because of all the pain. I am in pain 24/7. It’s a combination of the fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, my back problems, and my weight.
I tell you all this because 2 years ago I went to my doctor that was insisting I seek information on Gastic Bypass Surgery and told him that I prayed to God about my health and I felt that I was over medicated and wanted off some of my medicines. He told me that he could wean me off of some of them 1 at a time. I agreed and we started with the Geodon. He lowered my dosage on that one drug and that was all. Well, I became impatient and did what the doctor and pharmacist always tells you not to do, and that is stop most of my medicines on my own and all at once. Due to me having no thyroid gland (was removed about 18 years ago), I knew I had to keep taking my Synthroid. So, I stayed on my Synthroid, I cut way back on my pain meds by only taking the Oxycodone about twice a day and not taking the Gabapentin or Flexaril, and I stayed on my Metformin for my type 2 diabetes. Everything else I stopped taking.
The Vitamini D3 and Melatonin I kept taking as well, but the Malic Acid with Magnesium I stopped. I also got me a rollator which is a walker with wheels and a seat so that I could start walking. With my back problems its hard to walk or stand for more than 5 minutes and with all that weight it was even harder. So, I got that and started walking.
For the first few weeks, it was 10 minutes a day, then it went up to 15 for a few weeks, and it kept increasing until now I am at 45 minutes 2x a day. I cut down on sodas and sweet tea. I have a thing I made up. For every 3 bottles of water I drink I can have 1 can of Sprite. I don’t do any caffeine at all. I cut out tea all together, except on Thanksgiving when tea is a must with turkey and dressing. As far as my food I really didn’t change anything. I eat whatever I want, even if it is a piece of cake, I just eat very small portions. I refuse to call it a diet. After a year of starting this I had lost 110 pounds and was down to 279. Then for the following year, nothing changed. I had hit a road block.
About 5 months ago my friend started blasting Facebook with information about PlexusSlim. At one time I fixed it where I didn’t see her post anymore because I felt she was turning my News Feed into a commercial. Then about 2 months ago another friend started posting stuff about it. So, I put the first one back on my news feed and decided to touch base with my friend. I ask her about PlexusSlim and why SHE thought it was good and I ask her to base it off of her use and not anyone else’s. She told me that she started using it 5 months ago and that since about 1 month into it she was off her Metformin for her type 2 diabetes, off her meds for fibromyalgia, and off her high cholesterol meds. She has lost 26 pounds and 31 inches total. She no longer wants to sleep all day and she said she sleeps better at night. So, I gave in and tried it.
Here are my results so far. I am on day 16. I drink 1 PlexusSlim pink drink each morning before breakfast. I mix it with a bottle of water that says 16.9 ounces but I drink it down a little so I can shake it up really good. I take 2 Plexus Bio Cleanse between breakfast and lunch. I take 2 Plexus Bio Cleanse between lunch and supper. Then at bedtime I take 2 Plexus ProBio5. I have lost 9 1/2 pounds, I have lost a little over 1 inch in my waist.
I have been up cleaning house, doing laundry, cooking, and I am sleeping about 7 to 8 hours a night. I have not been able to do any of that in a very long time without being in so much pain I wanted to cry. As far as the sleeping part, I have not slept this good in about 9 years. The side effects are nothing to me compared to what I live with on a daily basis anyway.
I am full of energy now if that is a side effect, its the only one. I will say that the directions say to drink a lot of water. Most people don’t drink nearly enough water. If they did some of their health problems would be gone. Anyway, water is important, with or without PlexusSlim. I think that water is the magic ingredient in PlexusSlim. Lots of people look into the ingredients for the weight loss magic, and I’m sure some of them do help or a combination of them work together, but I still think water is the key.
Anyway, here I am, on day 16, and I am feeling pretty good. I do need to mention that my doctor did eventually put me back on some of my medications but not all of them. I take Synthroid for thyroid problem, Metformin for my type 2 diabetes, Nexium for my tummy issues, and for now I am on Oxycodone for pain but I have requested to be weaned off of it, so my dosage has been lowered, Vitamin D3 because I have a vitamin D deficiency, and I still take Melatonin at night to help me sleep.
So, that is my story.
I will say this I am very skeptical on Plexus but however I will say this I know people who are diabetic who have not had to take any or all of their diabetic meds since using PS. I also know people who use PS that don’t have to take all of their normal meds either.
If water is the magic key ingrediant…then why in the world are you spending all that money on this product????…just buy water lol wow!!!!!
You need to read “Stop the Thyroid Madness”.
Gina, I found it on Amazon. I’ll check it out thanks.
Hate to say this, but it sounds like a coca cola story. Coke was originally sold as a medicine with claims that it cured nearly everything. Its highly unlikely that one product can do that.
James
Joe would never say this, but I will. You gave the site information on how PS has helped you, and if it is, then good for you. But, I believe, and most will agree, that when you stated you are an “ambassador” and came back with your little sales pitch, you lost about 99% of your credibility. Do you think for one second that if PS did what you said it did that PS would put it in the hands of such inexperience people in sales and marketing.
James, the pharmaceutical companies would be all over this product, and trust me, they would not need you, or any of your people. The real industry would laugh at this.
As I was reading this I thought to myself, finally someone with some real Common Sense. Amen. Really we can’t go around and tell people what they can and can’t put in their system, they are the LabRats for this PS mess. Let people waste their Money on this so- called company, which by the way, are most likely Enjoying Life to the Fullest, thanks to the Human Lab Rats that are Freely buying it at their own will. The Truth shall Preval in time.
For me I watch what I eat and I move my body no Lazy Bones here. I feel bad for all the people that keep Falling for Scams!!!!
My niece is an ambassador and gave me the 3 day trial packs of Slim and accelerator. I am very sensitive to caffeine and stimulants. She assured me that it was caffeine free. In a few hours after the first dose I developed a migraine like headache and terrible dry mouth. I called her and she said that it was probably the accelerator. I stopped taking that immediately. However, several weeks later I tried the Slim by itself. I have had very satisfactory results. I am also working out daily and watching my calories ( 1200-1500 daily).
I think that Plexus works as an appetite suppressant and is probably a diuretic as well. I think that explains why people who stop using Plexus regain weight so quickly. I would continue to take the Slim, but is ridiculously expensive. I am going to continue my weight loss program the “hard” way. Exercise and good nutrition!
Carol, for what its worth, I showed you what I felt were the active ingredients in Plexus Slim. They are much less expensive.
i think you are doing so well because you have the calorie count to 1200 and 1500 daily and u work out honey save your money you are doing great on your own!
What a load of cobblers. Making someone very rich. Some people have more money than sense.
Joe, first I want to tell you I am an Ambassador for Plexus Slim. I am an Ambassador because I have lost 62 to date with no exercise or changed in eating habits other than what Plexus Slim does.
In also want to tell you I am a type 2 diabetic with high blood pressure and I am a kidney transplant recipient. I can’t exercise right now because I blew my knee out a couple years ago on a treadmill and my ACL a few months later. Total I have to take 25 different medications and because I am immuniosupressed there are very few things I can take that doesn’t interfere with my meds.
Results as I said 62 pounds lost, my blog pressure now runs an average of 100/65 which is excellent, my blood sugar haves dropped over 25 points. So if I am any indicator, Plexus Slim has not only made me a smaller man but a healthier man. when I started Plexus Slim I used a cane 100% of the time. I haven’t even looked at a cane since two weeks after starting Plexus Slim. Am is believed, you bet I am.
Do I think it is a miracle product. Yes in deed. I have seen it work time after time after time. And the company pay its Ambassadors very well. I just sayin…You know.
James, thanks for writing. It sounds like you have made great progress. Even though you have some knee problems Im going to still say you do some type of exercise. you have lost muscle mass if you did not exercise while losing weight. that muscle does not come back. that is important because the muscle helps control your type II diabetes. muscle eats sugar. this reduces blood sugar.
Believe me I am not saying this to deprecate what you have achieved but want to point out that weight loss is only part of the picture. the bigger part is being healthy. water exercise is an option if your knees hurt. do consider it.
Hi Stephanie, I am not a doctor but I did have bariatric surgery. I had the verticle sleeve where 85% of your stomach is cut out. After three years I started gaining weight. I have been taking Plexus Slim and the accelerator for three months and have lost 35 pounds. I’m feeling great !!! I can’t say what you should or shouldn’t do, just wanted to share what I have done.
Ricky, I had to remove your plexus slim distributor site from your comment. Just wanted to let you know.
I guess it really just depends on how you choose to eat and how effective your bypass is for you. Unfortunately, I have two friends who initially lost one hundred + lbs with the bypass, but now have stretched pouches and get hunger pains/sugar cravings etc.
In my experience, this product helps with that…that is why they are trying it out.
Ideally a person with a bypass should only be having about 1,000-1,500 cals a day whether you take the plexus or not. I am afraid I don’t understand why you would not recommend this product? It is not affecting what you put into your body (other than containing ingredients that have been proven to lower blood sugar levels and help reduce belly fat).
Improper absorption would occur with or without this product, correct? So I guess I am not understanding what the correlation is? If anything you would not absorb as much as the Plexus has to offer, but it should not affect how you are eating. (Since a person with bariatric surgery should already be on a quite restrictive diet).
Stephanie, let me try to clarify. if gastric bypass limits absorption of nutrients (it does) and plexus slim also limits calorie intake, then there is a greater possibility of nutrient deficiency. This can lead to muscle loss (the muscle wont return!) hair loss, inadequate cell repair etc. That is why I could not recommend plexus slim for someone who had gastric bypass surgery.
Hope that helps.
What are your reasons that you think bariatric surgery patients should not take Plexus? I had RNY GBP 11 years ago and have really done well with keeping the weight off (200 lbs) until the last 2 years, when I have regained about 25 lbs and was looking for something to help me take that back off.
Connie, I say this because if people have weight loss surgery it will be hard to get the nutrients they need to be healthy. Plexus Slim might slow that down more. Its about being healthy more than anything.
Connie,
I have had bariatric surgery (lap-band) and I take Plexus and the accelerator. I had lost 100lbs with the band in a 14 months and maintained that for 6 years. Then I decided I really wanted to lose 25 more. I have lost 10lbs and one pants size in 4 weeks. I am very careful that my 1200 cals per day include healthy foods and I take a multi vitamin (chewable) as well. This product curbs my sugar cravings and has been amazing for me and several of my friends and family. Just stating the facts. 🙂
Joe, thank you. That makes sense. And Stephanie, though I appreciate that you too had bariatric surgery, a lap band is not nearly as restrictive to nutrient absorption as an actual gastric bypass. I have been on prescription supplements for 6 years now (vitamin D, b-12, copper, and even have to have iron infusions) because I absolutely do not absorb anything from food or oral supplements.
The lap band does not completely re-route the digestive system, therefore you do actually get all the nutrients, just at a slower pace. But thank you for you comments, because I think after speaking with my Dr. I may still try the plexus. Congratulations on your additional weight loss! That’s awesome.
I would not take it after having Bariatric Surgery mainly because of the ingredients that are anti inflammatory. My mom also had a Gastric Bypass and can not take any anti inflammatory at all. It is too hard on your stomach.
I actually asked my physician about it last week at a regular check up for my migraines and she said I am doing great and it is fine to take. She did warn about the accelerator (as far as caffeine intake) but surprisingly, I have only had one migraine since taking the Plexus so I think it is helping that too. Again, won’t work for everyone…but so far IS working for me.
Stephanie, thanks for the update and I’m glad for you 🙂
Just wanted to note also, that I am buying what I believe you considered to be the “active” ingredients in this (lipoic acid, chromium picolinate & Garcinia Cambogia) off Amazon for under half the price they charge per month and am going to take it to see if I get similar results…(It would be foolish to pay the price they want if I can get it for half right?!?) 🙂
sounds good to me. Id also save a few dollars more and eliminate chromium as I don’t think it does much for weight loss. Just my 2 cents 😉
Just to clarify. The Chromium isn’t for weight loss per se. Chromium is what helps control blood sugar levels, keeping them even all throughout the day. Weight loss is merely a side effect of having no more spikes in sugar and insulin.
FYI for the “Ambassadors”. While surfing the internet, came across PS being bidded for on E-Bay. Folks, read the PS policies and procedures on this matter. This, per the company, is a no-no, under section referring to “internet advertisement”. “Ambassadors”, for obvious reasons, should report this. And, you’re welcome. lol
Pete you are right I just checked ebay and Plexus Slim was there! I checked and its also being sold on Amazon too.
It is absolutely against company policy to sell Plexus Slim on any web site other h than Plexus Slim web sites. If they l people are going out they will lose their right to sell any of Plexus Worldwide.
James
Thanks for taking the time to check out the fact that PS is being sold on the internet via Amazon and E-Bay. You are one of the few Ambassadors (if one) I have come in contact with that has even read the policies and procedures of the company. Its obvious how this can affect you, and your downline in a lot of ways. I notified the company to see what response I would get, and not to my surprise, did I not get a response.
Is the company doing this, who knows, after all it’s MLM. They are quite aware distributors do not read policies and procedure, and know that most upline do not familiarize their downline with them. All MLM companies should make this mandatory, but don’t hold your breath. In my opinion, all involved with PS should report this to the company.
Pete, I personally know several Plexus Ambassadors who have reported that the product is being sold on Amazon and eBay. The problem is that the people selling it on these sites are hard to catch because they are constantly changing their info……because they do not want to be caught. If they are ever caught, they will be banned from being an ambassador. The sad thing is that eBay and such sites will not do anything about it.
I have taken the time to report about 15 different sellers to Plexus Worldwide. They let me know they are aware of the problem and have a team that works diligently to find out who the distributors are so that they can remove their ability to buy Plexus products from the company.
there are literally hundreds of people selling it at will to ‘anyone’ including very young people on face book all over my country Australia….dangerous either way…there are NO studies done on this product and the dangers to some people especially the Accelerator! Companies that produce these products without proper long term trials prior to selling them to the general public are a disgrace..its all about the money honey!!
Joe, I just went to Amazon to check and you are right it is there but it is at a premium price. For example the Plexus Slim 30 pack plus Accelerator pills is$35 more than I would seek them to you for. If anyone is interested please do pay to much, I would offer from me. Not only do you get the product you get an Ambassador that wants you to be successful. I am available to help by answering questions. I also send email tips to help my customers need successful.
James, appreciate your willingness to help. its against my policy to let distributors market directly to people. doing so would cause the comments to quickly break down. Im hope you understand.
For those who are on metformin, or were on metformin, did you take it while doing the PS program? And just monitor your blood glucose as usual?
Yes, make sure to monitor your blood glucose more closely than before. Also you should take the Slim and the Accelerator with food, not on an empty stomach. It could cause a swift drop in blood sugar if not taken with food. You will need to have regular blood tests because eventually most people use less and less Metformin, until they are off of it altogether. Hope that helps!
I hope they dont come out with Plexus negative side effects years later. For now, I know it’s working for lots of people. I don’t see junk ingredients in it that are in other weight loss products. The article above was very informative and objective. Although Plexus makes no health claims, I personally know a few people who have improved health conditions, whether it’s from the drink itself or just as a result of losing weight. I’ve decided to try Plexus for myself for a month.
karen, its the weight loss that improved their conditions. I hope PS works for you, for what its worth.
I can say that I am an ambassador of ps my husband is on the slim only and he hasn’t lost weight and don’t need to but was taking 4 blood pressure pills a day and cholesterol pill after one month of being on it he is down to 1 bp pill a day and no cholesterol pill dr advise, he bp went down to numbers never seen and cholesterol went down to numbers not seen in over 4 yrs so it does work and not because of weight lose either.
Sabrina, while I am happy for your husband, I am going to need a study to show me some alternate pathway by which ps might affect blood pressure and cholesterol beside weight loss.
Joe you are wrong since starting PS my blood sugar levels have dropped majorly !! I was running 350-370 now I medication free and my levels are 99 -112 ! It has nothing to do with the weight I lost !! I also have djd and prior to PS could hardly walk but after a week of PS I can walk run and feel so much better !
And it’s not cuz I have lost a huge amount of weight .. Yes I am a Plexus Ambassador and will ride this til the wheels fall off !!
DeAnn, but from your words, it sounds like you did lose weight? Am I correct? if you did lose weight, how do you know that is not that that helped you?
It will work for you, it is awesome!!! Ive lost 84 pounds and everyone I know is taking it now and love it!!! I even have a Doctor on my team that is an ambassador!
Cindy, you are the 3rd PS distributor to chime in at almost the same time. that’s quite a coincidence! 🙂
To all Ambassadors making unsubstantiated claims:
From the PS policies and procedures:
Product Claims:
“The only claims and representations an Ambassador may make regarding Products are those found in the literature distributed by the Company. An Ambassador may not make ANY express or implied health or medical claims of ANY kind relating to any Product except for those claims, if any, that are published in Company literature approved for the country in which the claims are presented. Under NO circumstances may an Ambassador prescribe any Product as suitable for a particular ailment. NO claims may be made as to therapeutic or curative properties of ANY Product offered by the Company.”
If any of the claims you make, either directly, or indirectly, are endorsed by the company, please provide proof.
There will always be people who stretch the truth. I just signed up as an ambassador of PS and at the first meeting I went to it was stressed NOT to tell people it is a cure or even make promises that it will work for everyone. I have a close friend that has benefited from PS and she swears by it. Everyone reacts differently to supplements, drugs, even food. PS is not a cure but it is a tool for people to try when loosing weight. If it works, great, if not, time to try something else.
Justin
Are you the only person that finds PS and the PS Accelerator gross? Hardly, you are just one of the few users that is completely honest. Good luck with school and losing weight. One other note, and I am no expert on weight loss, but, try eating half of what you normally eat, and of course exercising. This is what initially worked for me several years ago..I have to admit, it is a challenge. Not so bad once your body adjust to eating less.
