Update 7/10/20. Plexus Slim is billed as an “affordable weight management product” that boasts “no ill side effects” based on “extensive clinical research.” Impressive, but does PlexusSlim work or is it a scam? And does it really have no side effects? I was tipped off to Plexus Slim by one of the readers of this website. After looking at its ingredients, I wanted to write a review of Plexus Slim because of the words used to describe the product and because Plexus Slim seemed to have ingredients that I have never heard of before. Let's see what we can discover about this weight loss drink. Also read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +) and Plexus Boost, Plexus ProBio5 and Plexus Hunger Control after you read this, for additional information.
Update: The formula for Plexus Slim was changed a bit since this review was written so also read the review of the new plexus slim formula.
Who Makes Plexus Slim?
According to the Better Business Bureau, the company that makes Plexus Slim – Plexus Worldwide Inc. – was started in 2005 in Arizona. The address of the company is 7440 E. Karen Dr. #400, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.
Update. PlexusWorldWide.com, the company website, now lists this corporate address: 15649 N. Greenway Hayden Loop Scottsdale, AZ 85260. Googling this address shows a large building that says “Plexus Slim” on the outside. That's good.

Update. The Better Business Bureau now lists this address for the company: 9145 E Pima Center Pkwy Scottsdale, AZ 85258-4627
The BBB gives Plexus Slim a rating of “A+” See the BBB file for updates and other information.
To buy Plexus Slim it looks like you either have to buy it from the company or through a PlexusSlim distributor. They call Plexus Slim distributors “Ambassadors“. On the Plexus Slim website, they have a calendar of Plexus Slim events.
These events serve not only to sell Plexus Slim but also to recruit new Ambassadors. Plexus Slim has a multi-level marketing (MLM) aspect to it.
I have no problem with MLM. If the product is reputable, MLM allows people to make an income which can be significant.
Plexus Slim Nutrition Information
In an effort to keep this review up to date, here are the ingredients in Plexus Slim as they appeared in 2016. According to the label shown on the product website, each packet of Plexus Slim has the following nutrition information and ingredients:
| Ingredient | Amount Per Serving | Percent Daily Value |
|---|---|---|
| Calories | 10 calories | |
| Total Carbohydrdate | 3 grams | 1% DV |
| Chromium Polynicotinate | 200 micrograms | 167% DV |
| Plexus Slim Blend (composed of the following) | 530 mg | N/A |
| Garcinia Cambogia Fruit Extract | ||
| Green Coffee Bean Extract | ||
| Alpha Lipoic Acid |
In the table above, N/A means no daily value established.
Each of the ingredients will be summarized below. I will leave in the summaries of the ingredients present in the original plexus slim formula too to help others doing their own research.
See the review of the new plexus slim formula too.
Plexus Slim Ingredients
Polydextrose
This is a type of soluble fiber. In theory, this might help weight loss since it has no calories and is a type of fiber. Polydextrose might cause gas and bloating.
Citric Acid
In some products, citric acid is used as a preservative and to enhance flavor. While it naturally occurs in citrus fruits, its use in foods/ supplements may be from natural or synthetic means.
Beet Root
If Plexus Slim uses the entire beetroot, the fiber content of the beetroot might help foster some weight loss because it adds bulk to the stomach contents. That said, I can't locate any evidence that beetroot helps people lose weight. The product label states the beetroot is to give the product color. Beets do have a red color. Beetroot probably contributes to the pink color of the product.
Beets and beetroot juice have gotten attention from the scientific community because of their ability to raise nitric oxide, a compound that can relax blood vessels, allowing blood to more easily travel through the body. See my review of SuperBeets for more on this topic.
Grape Skin Extract
Grape skin contains phytonutrients such as proanthocyanidins and proanthocyanidins which act as antioxidants. While this is very good, does grape skin extract help people lose weight? Other than having some fiber (which might act as a laxative) I can't find any proof that it does.
Update. I'm told Plexus Slim no longer contains grape skin extract
Lo Han Extract
The scientific name for this ingredient is Siraitia grosvenorii. This is also called “lou han guo” and “monk fruit.” By either name, it's often used as a sweetener. This ingredient, like steveia below, is likely added for flavoring.
Stevia
This is a sweetener. Some supplement companies may call it by another name -“rebaudioside A.”
Stevia is added to many low-calorie foods. In theory, using low calorie (or no-calorie) sweeteners might help weight loss but I'm not sure if this is the answer. There are MANY low-calorie foods and beverages on the US market, yet Americans are not slimmer than they were, say, in the 1980s.
Natural Flavors
They don't tell us what these natural flavors are. To be fair, most companies don't. They don't have to under the law. Regardless, I doubt any of them play a role in weight loss.
Green Coffee Bean
This is also called Chlorogenic Acid. One study published in 2010 noted that chlorogenic acid helped weight loss and increased fat burning when in rats that were fed a high-fat diet (37% of calories from fat).
This is interesting even though it's a rat study. Another rat study also noted that mulberries (which also contain chlorogenic acid) helped the weight loss. But was it the chlorogenic acid – or all the other stuff mulberries?
In one small study 16 overweight people were given either a placebo or different amounts of green coffee extract (which contains chlorogenic acid) at either 700 mg or 1050 mg day for 6 weeks (each person was given each treatment for 6 weeks).

People getting the green coffee extract (both dosage amounts) were shown to have significant reductions in body weight, body mass and percent body fat compared to placebo. The type of green coffee extract used in this study was supplied by Applied Food Sciences Inc.
Retracted
It sounds great BUT, the study has been “retracted.” This means it should not be considered as evidence due to errors with how the study was performed. In the words of the authors, the study was retracted because the authors could not “assure the validity of the data.” Click here to read the retraction.
See the Green Bean Coffee Review for more information.
See the weight loss supplement scam review.
Rosmarinic Acid
This is a plant chemical found in many herbs, including rosemary. This is probably where Rosmarinic Acid gets its name from. Rosmarinic acid has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. I was unable to find any studies showing that Rosmarinic Acid helps weight loss in humans or animals.
Hydroxycinnamic Acid
This compound is an antioxidant but whether or not it contributes to weight loss needs further study.
Garcinia Cambogia
This was originally called “Citrin K” when I first reviewed Plexus Slim. Garcinia cambogia is found in MANY weight loss supplements because of some research that it might reduce appetite and help weight loss. Right now, I think all anyone can say is maybe it works or maybe it doesn't work.
In this study, 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia did not help people lose weight. I mention this because if this study is correct, then it might take more than 500 mg of garcinia Cambogia if it's going to work. The entire proprietary blend in Plexus Slim adds up to 530 mg. While Garcinia Cambogia is the first ingredient listed – which presumably means it makes up the most of the blend – how much that equates to, I cannot say.
See the Garcinia Cambogia review
Also, read the review of supplements linked to liver failure.
Alpha-lipoic Acid
This is an antioxidant and it helps it turn carbs into energy. It can also help regenerate other antioxidants, which is pretty snazzy.
There are a few studies of alpha-lipoic acid and weight loss. In one study, alpha-lipoic acid was randomly given to 360 obese people for 20 weeks. Half got a placebo and half got alpha-lipoic acid (either 1200 mg/day or 1800 mg per day). Those getting alpha-lipoic acid lost more weight than those who got the placebo. Basically, people lose about 2% of their body mass.
In another study, 1127 overweight people were given 800 mg of alpha-lipoic acid a day for 4 months. This study noted that alpha-lipoic acid, at the dosage given, helped people lose about 8% of their body weight over 4 months.
So if you were 200 pounds, alpha lipoic acid might help you lose about 200 x .08 = 16 pounds. That is a significant amount in my book.
One possible problem with this study though was that it doesn't appear that there was a placebo group to compare the weight loss too. I was also unable to determine (because I only read the summary of the study) if people combined alpha-lipoic acid with eating fewer calories (I think they might have ).
Alpha-lipoic acid is the last ingredient listed in the proprietary blend. As such, it likely makes up the least of the 530 mg total.
Oxypregnane Steroidal Glycoside
This is a pretty fancy name but you have heard of this stuff before. Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside – is just a fancy way of saying Hoodia! Here is a study that proves that both names mean the same thing.
I think they call it Oxypregnane steroidal glycoside because they are trying to make the product sound different and special. In reality, it's just hoodia Gordonii.
The other fancy name for hoodia is P57AS3 – you have probably seen this listed in other supplements as “P57“.
I've already reviewed hoodia and weight loss. Other supplements that I've reviewed previously that contain hoodia include the
For at least 10 years, hoodia Gordonii has been in more weight loss supplements than you can shake a stick at – but there is no good proof that hoodia supplements help people lose weight.
Study. Researchers gave hoodia or a placebo to 50 overweight people for 2 weeks. The people in the study were allowed to eat as much as they wanted from a menu provided by the researchers. Results: hoodia did not cause any weight loss.
While no serious side effects were reported, researchers did note that people who got hoodia had higher blood pressures and heart rates compared to people who got the placebo. Hoodia also seems to cause elevations in bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase. What caused these changes I do not know.
Update. Plexus slim no longer contains hoodia. See my review on the New Plexus Slim Formula for more info on how it has changed.
Chromium Polynicotinate
Plexus slim contains a type of chromium they call “amino nicotinate”. This is fancy talk for “chromium nicotinate”. (it is now called “chromium polynicotinate on the label).
You may have heard Dr. Oz talk about chromium polynicotinate on TV. I reviewed what Dr Oz had to say about this form of chromium and I am guessing that this is why Plexus Slim includes chromium nicotinate over the sometimes more popular, chromium picolinate.
Chromium may help lower blood sugar levels but as for its effects on weight loss, I am highly skeptical. For more on chromium, see my reviews of chromium weight loss research and chromium polynicotinate.
Blood Sugar Lowering Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients might reduce blood sugar:
- Alpha-lipoic acid
- Chromium nicotinate (now called chromium polynicotinate)
Fiber Ingredients
As a quick reference, the following ingredients all might add fiber to Plexus Slim:
- Polydextrose
- Grape skin (no longer in plexus slim) See my review of the new PS formula.
- Hoodia (maybe. no longer in Plexus Slim)
How Much Does Plexus Slim Cost?
One of the slogans for Plexus Slim is “At last, an affordable weight management product.” I guess that depends on how you define “affordable”. On the Plexus Slim website, they have different prices depending on whether you want to buy it just once or be billed each month automatically.
If you want to buy Plexus Slim one time only, its $84.95. If you want to be billed automatically at the 15th of each month, Plexus Slim is $79.95/ month.
Is Plexus Slim OK When Breast-Feeding?
Some women have wondered if they can take Plexus Slim while they are breastfeeding? That's not something I would recommend because if any of the ingredients in Plexus Slim pass into breast milk, then their baby will be getting those ingredients too.
I don't know for sure if any of the ingredients do get absorbed into breast milk, so I do recommend that women take the ingredients in Plexus Slim to their doctor to see if they can get a better answer.
How Much Caffeine?
The Plexus Slim Nutrition label states that it has less than 2% of naturally occurring caffeine. My guess is that the caffeine comes from the green coffee bean extract because this statement is listed next to the green coffee bean ingredient on the label. I'm not sure how much 2% natural caffeine equals.
Plexus Slim and ADHD
Since writing this review I've heard that this product may be marketed to help Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). A search on Google reveals several testimonials from people saying that it helps. I became curious and searched for “Plexus ADHD research.” I searched Google for this phrase and I also searched the National Library of Medicine too.
I saw no clinical studies on this topic. Therefore, whether it Plexus helps ADHD or not is unknown as far as I can tell. Nobody appears to have undertaken the chore of taking this stuff into the lab and actually tried to really see if it helps or not.
The same thing also seems to be true for bipolar disorder and depression. I cannot find any evidence Plexus Slim directly helps either of these conditions either.
Having said that, lack of evidence doesn't necessarily mean something does not work. Rather, it just means that it seems that, other than testimonials (from people most of us don't know), there doesn't seem to be any good proof for it yet.
How To Contact Plexus Slim
PlexusWorldWide lists this contact phone number: 480-998-3490 which people can call 6 AM-6 PM (PST) Monday -Friday and 9 AM-2 PM (PST) on Saturday.
How To Return Plexus Slim
Plexus Slim products come with a 60-day money-back guarantee. For those who purchased from Plexus Ambassadors, contact that person for details on how to return the product, or call the company itself at 480-998-3490.
Does Plexus Slim Have Any Side Effects?
On the Q and A page of the Plexus Slim website (question 7) where it's asked: “Will Plexus Slim interfere or react with any medications or other supplements?” the makers say: ” No. Extensive clinical research has demonstrated no ill side effects with any medications or other supplements.”
Where is all the “extensive clinical research” on Plexus Slim? As far as I can tell, Plexus Slim has NEVER been tested in published studies to see if it interacts with any medication or health condition.
The only study I've seen on Plexus Slim is a summary of a study they show on their website. This is a study from 2008 where they gave the product to 8 people with type II diabetes. Yes, improvements were seen in blood sugar, body weight and other things, but this is not a published, peer reviewed study. As such, there is a lot we are not told about how this study was conducted. It may be the best study in the world, but if we can't see how it was conducted, then it can't be duplicated by other scientists.
That said, in healthy people, I think Plexus Slim (the pink drink product) is safe. Below are some theoretical side effects based on its ingredients.
Grape skin. Some components of grape skin might interfere with medications such as Coumadin (a blood thinner). I'm not aware of any human evidence of this, but because blood thinners can intact with many things, its best to talk to a doctor about this. Update. grape skin is no longer in plexus slim
Chlorogenic acid. This compound might raise homocysteine levels in humans. Homocysteine is a somewhat controversial molecule because some feel it might be linked to heart disease.
See my review of chlorogenic acid for more info.
Citrin K/ Garcinia cambogia. There is some controversial evidence that Garcinia Cambogia may be linked to liver problems. Personally, I'm not yet convinced it does this. For more info on this see my review of garcinia Cambogia.
Alpha-lipoic acid. This ingredient appears to lower blood sugar. Because of this, alpha-lipoic acid might interfere with insulin and other diabetes medications. Alpha-lipoic acid seems to reduce thyroid hormone levels. This can be a problem for people who take Levothyroxin for hypothyroidism (low thyroid).
Hoodia. As I reported in my book on supplements hoodia Gordonii seems to share some chemical similarity to a class of heart drugs called cardiac glycosides. In fact, if you Google “Hoodia and cardiac glycosides.” I don’t know the clinical significance of this. That said, if you have heart or blood pressure issues please see your cardiologist before using any hoodia supplement, just to be safe.
Chromium may lower blood sugar levels. While this can be a good thing, it also means chromium might interact with blood-sugar-lowering medications. This might – in theory – make blood sugar levels to too low.
As a general, blanket statement, I would be cautious if you have any problems with your heart, blood pressure, kidneys, liver, mental disorders, diabetes or digestive problems. I would not recommend Plexus Slim if you had bariatric surgery either. To their credit, the makers of Plexus Slim do say to see your doctor first if you are pregnant. I agree with this.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator
Update: The Accelerator formula has changed significantly and the product is now called Plexus Accelerator Plus (Accelerator +). Do read my review of the Plexus Accelerator Plus for additional information on the new product.
This is another product sold on the Plexus Slim website. The word “accelerator” is a tip-off that this product is a stimulant.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator contains trace minerals, calcium, and magnesium from seaweed (both are useless for weight loss) and vitamin B6 (useless for weight loss). The accelerator also has a “proprietary blend” of:
- Dark Chocolate – won't help weight loss, unless it has caffeine
- Natural Caffeine – natural or not, it's caffeine!
- Green Tea Extract – probably has caffeine or EGCG
- Vanadium Chelate. This is the fancy name for Vanadium. It won't help weight loss.
- B-Phenylethylamine HCl – might act as a neuro-chemical. Avoid if you take antidepressants.
The Plexus Slim Accelerator also has an ingredient called GeranaX. GeranaX is a reference to geranium oil. Geranium oil is controversial in some circles because it is thought by some to be a natural source of a stimulant called Dimethylamylamineor “DMAA. ” It's scientific name is 1,3 Dimethylamylamine and its also called Methylhexaneamine.
The name “GeranaX” is a made-up word. In other words, the name GeranaX holds no scientific meaning.
Geranium has been the subject by scrutiny by the military, whose research finds that geranium does not contain DMAA. Oddly, the supplement 411 website still lists “geranium” as an alternative name for DMAA in its listings. Currently, it is controversial if geranium is a source of DMAA or not.
As of July 2013, the Australian government warned people about the Plexus Slim Accelerator because they say it had DMAA. This link goes to the Australian government website that discusses the Plexus Slim Accelerator and DMAA.
- In April of 2013, the FDA issued a warning letter about DMAA.
- Here is a New York Times article on DMAA for more information.
The ingredient DMAA seems to act like ephedra or bitter orange (synephrine) which are potent stimulants. As such, it may raise blood pressure and heart rate to dangerous levels. Here is a case report of a 21-year-old man who suffered a stroke after taking 2 DMAA pills.
This does not mean plexus slim will do this. It would depend on whether DMAA really is in geranium and also which part of the plant was used (root, stems ect).
Di methy amyl amine “looks” like amphetamines (“speed”). This may be why question 6 of the Plexus Slim Q and A page mentions that this ingredient may cause a positive result on a drug test for amphetamines. Here is a study showing that dimethylamylamine causes false positive drug tests for amphetamines.
Plexus Slim Bio-Cleanse
This is a laxative. Always remember, the word “cleanse” means laxative. The Plexus Slim Bio Cleanse supplement lives up to its laxative name because it contains magnesium, which is indeed a laxative. Remember “Milk of Magnesia.” Either way, laxatives don't cause any weight loss other than mostly water (and of course, poo). The Plexus Slim website lists 2 prices for this product – $29.95 or $39.95 -both of which are too pricey for me.
Plexus Boost
Here is my review of Plexus Boost. I cover a lot of information in this review and I also compare it to the ingredients in Accelerator Plus as well.
Plexus Slim Fast Relief
The Fast Relief product appears to be a pain relief formula that exists in both a cream and capsule form. One of the ingredients in Fast Relief is Lyprinol. This compound comes from the green-lipped mussel, hence the slogan “Full Body Relief, From the Sea-Naturally.” You may know this product by its other name – as Omega XL which is advertised on TV with Larry King.
For more information, see the review of Omega XL.
Will Plexus Slim Work?
Honestly, I'm not if it works because Plexus Slim – itself- has no published proof. If you read the comments below, you'll see some people do say it's helped them lose weight. If it works, is it because of the unique blend of ingredients in Plexus Slim or is it because of just a few key ingredients alone?
Here are Plexus Supplements on Amazon

People don’t have to sign up as Ambassadors right off the start, Joe. They have an option to buy it retail or they can sign up as a “preferred customer” and enjoy savings each month. The only difference between the PC and the ambassador is a $34.95 cost for replicated website use for 1 year, and the company actual gives you some freebie value to offset that as well.
And please, Jen, I am not trolling for customers here. I simply feel that if you are going to review anything that you should try the product first. I used the car example before but lets use this one to make my point even clearer: for Joe not to try supplements and give his reviews based on ingredients would be like a food critic giving a poor review of a restaurant without actually having actually dined there and evaluating all the food based on the ingredients. Maybe that analogy is more proper here. That ideology just doesn’t play in my book and if I read a review like that, I don’t put one bit of stock in what he says because he is not talking from first-hand experience with the product.
That should pretty much clear up any confusion about the unfounded statement Joe made about not recommending mlm’s with product requirements up front but if you have something to add, Joe….I’d love to hear your response on this. And I am calm as a cucumber writing this so don’t read any anger into it, Pete. 😎 I’m just stating the facts and voicing an opinion based on my own life experience.
Randy, I cut out a lot of your comment down because I’m trying not to let this discussion to be about MLM and the merits/or lack of for MLM. I simply asked a question about whether Plexus Slim distributors had to buy the product up front and it looks like the answer is yes. Well then, in my opinion, I don’t like that kind of business model. That is my personal opinion. There are plenty of MLMs out there that do not require people to buy the product up front. That is my preference and my opinion. Would PS buy the product back from me if I could not sell it?
As for my review Randy, your food critic analogy, again, is not valid because a food critic, rates the taste and presentation of the food and other features of the restaurant where its served. PS is making weight loss claims and so I looked at whether there was any proof for this. The best way to do this is to look at the product ingredients and research on the product itself, which is what I did.
Restaurants don’t normally say “our food will make you lose weight” – and when they do, then its the job of nutritionists, scientists, doctors etc. to analyze those claims to see if they are valid. For example, not too long ago KFC aired commercials that gave the impression that eating chicken from KFC would help people lose weight. Food critics didn’t analyze those claims – nutrition and medical professionals did.
Randy, I’m still looking forward to the published research on Plexus Slim that you said existed. I haven’t forgot you said you would find it for me 🙂
Gary
You mentioned most people do not understand what a”pyramid scheme” consist of. I have studied the MLM business model for years, and the fact most operate as a “pyramid scheme”, cleverly disguised by a product. But to be fair, what is your definition of a “pyramid scheme”?
“pyramid Scheme”
Joe, any news on Isagenix yet? … did you google earth the scottsdale loc? what did you learn? I’m following
Teresa, still looking at it. Didn’t do google earth yet either. sorry. Been swamped.
Pete, I don’t know where you come up with this get rich quick idea about Plexus. It takes work and I mean real work to build a network of people. You know this so how is that a get rich scheme? Also, using the Scripture verse Eph 4:28, I pay for all my products and don’t steal anything. I simply offer the products BECAUSE I know they are useful to many people.
If it turns out that they didn’t live up to the person’s expectations, then they have 60 days to get a full refund. I am selling PS on its merits and quite honestly, anyone that would try to build a business without their full belief int he products that they are selling are doomed before they start. You don’t know me from the man on the street but you seem to paint this really manufactured image of mlm from your own experience with it. Please know that I do not operate on those principles you have described as being a con as you inferred.
You have some real gull to also ask for someone’s W9’s as if that would have anything to do with your own ability to build a business. With an attitude like that, with all due respect, it is no wonder why you failed at mlm. You didn’t work the business from the standpoint of helping people. As far as your reference to being content in the Bible, Yes, I agree that we are to be content to a certain point but Scripture also says:
Proverbs 13:4 ~ “The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.:
Hebrews 13:16 ~ “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”
And finally, Proverbs 14:23 ~ “In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.”
You can believe whatever you want about me but I stand on the fact that God himself showed me this business by no coincidence and as a result I have lost more than 30 pounds, seen considerable benefits in my health with a lower cholesterol reading without taking harmful Staten drugs, seen countless friends and family lose weight, lower their insulin, lower their blood pressure, and on and on.
As Jen said, there are many different diet options out there and supplements are definitely the go too for all. Speaking from my own experience in doing protein diets, atkins, meal replacement shakes, hard core exercise, etc. I have personally not come across any product that was more effective at helping me to regulate my health. If you have a problem with me sharing what I believe in then that is just too bad for you.
This blog is intended to be about the effectiveness of Plexus Slim and I will attest to everyone that it does work for me and I have taken it for over one year with amazing results. I didn’t need a study to tell me that, I lived it! My doctor told me to keep doing whatever I was doing because of the cholesterol readings finally going into the safe range without the 40-50 pounds of weight loss that was prescribed.
PS is all natural so know that you are taking something safe as well people. Pete, I wish you many years of good health but try to count backwards from 10 once in a while. What you manufactured in this blog about me is simply not the case and if you have a problem with Pastors promoting inspiration and motivation to God’s Kingdom then you probably should say something to Joel Osteen as well. 😎
Over and out.
There are many “Natural” products that will kill you. Some are used for medicinal purposes but taken in the wrong doseage or in the wrong context will kill you or cause serious systemic damage.
I cringe to here the statement that something is all natural.as if Nature would never do anything to harm us.
BTW,As the grandson of a pastor I could never imagine my Grandfather doing anything to make money off of parishioners even if it is under the guise of “helping them”.
First baptist church of Amway? never would have happened.
Ronnie, I would suggest you read Matthew 25:14-30, and then really think about our duty as Servants to Christ. Please don’t be the one that buries the bag because taking that approach will yield nothing. No ability to witness to others through business relationships and no possible way to be a fruitful contributor of tithes to God. Tell me something, how am I any different than the man who owns a business and pastors a church? Are you against that business owner as well for making a profit on the people he sells to or provides service too?
One final thing, I am really sorry you (and the others who have bashed me on this) feel the way you do but the simple fact is that I came to know Jesus through an Amway convention in 1995 while listening to Pastor Dave Roever, a wounded Vietnam veteran, give his testimony. If you and others are going to bash people who have the best interest of others at heart and seek to make a difference in other people’s lives then I think you should look in the mirror and take a look at yourself before you cast judgment.
If you aren’t part of the solution then you are part of the problem….
Randy, one thing you said that I wholeheartedly agree with you on is your statement of “if you aren’t part of the solution that you are part of the problem” I agree you are part of the problem. You are part of the modern day society asking for a faster way to do things than to put out hard work and eating right to get the results
I saw further down that you eluded to PS can cure diabetes. As a physical therapist, phlebotomist and paramedic I can say from my medical experience that is an absolute lie.
Diabetes can be a genetic issue but in our society it’s more often a lifestyle issue(I’m not talking specifically of gestational diabetes) but yes diet and exercise can help you overcome diabetes. Weight loss itself is they key to controlling the majority of type 2 diabetes not PS.
So naturally if someone loses weight with a weight loss supplement then they will most likely control it but it’s not because PS cured them. That is an outright lie coming from the mouth of a self proclaimed minister.
As for your scriptures I will pass thanks. After seeing how well they have worked for you and tarnished your witness I’m good thanks though
Please don’t take my comment out of its context. I said, “eating right and exercising will not totally cure diabetes(and it won’t)….that is why Plexus Slim was originally developed.” I have never insinuated or said directly that Plexus Slim was a cure for Diabetes. Plexus was originally developed to help stabilize sugar within the body…weight loss was the side-effect.
Supplements can definitely help people stabilize their sugars and if you had done your research before going off, you would know this.
Modern day society is always looking for cures to the dilemmas we face such as diabetes. My cousin died of diabetes and he wasn’t fat by any stretch of the imagination so weight loss isn’t a cure in and of itself as far as I see it.
It’s just a hunch but I think pharmaceutical companies know that there are natural cures but because they can’t make any money off it… they try to duplicate these natural cures with synthetic ingredients that end up hurting other major organs in the process. Some circles of thought believe that eliminating trans fatty acids and many other bad fats will help cure type II diabetes but Plexus developers were just concerned with trying to stabilize the sugar.
Again, I never said PS cured diabetes so please read more carefully.
I won’t stoop to your level to address your final comment….
Randy, I think I could agree that there is no money to be made in a cure for diabetes. If you go to the site ReachMD.com and sign up – its free – and search the diabetes section, there is a pod cast about the “cure of type I diabetes.” very interesting stuff. Animal reseach finds that beta cells grow back when the immune system attack is stopped. the researcher could not get pharm to help with human trials.
Randy
I’ve reached my dream. 64 yrs old and retired at 58. Did not have to conn one penny from anybody to get there. Randy, keep dreaming “ace”, the odds are you will to wake up to a (nightmare)!
Joe, I know Xenical isn’t a supplement but have you ever reviewed that product?
Donna, I have not looked at it. As I understand it it is a fat blocker drug. Because every gram of fat has about 9 calories, as Xenical blocks fat, its also blocking some of the calories we eat too. By reducing calories consumed, this is how it leads to weight loss.
My partner was prescribed Xenical. On one of the side effects is anal leakage. Never again. Don’t believe me? Look it up.
Gary, “Anal leakage” is a common side effect of Xenical when people eat too much fat while taking it. The side effect was very well publicized when this drug came to market.
Randy, why are you bad-mouthing Joe. Joe, is a renowned subject in his field. You ought to respect this. And, Joe has one of the top visted sites on the web.
And by the way the answer to all your sentences ending in a question mark is YES, in my opinion. Then, you have the gall to end with a sales presentation. 3-pak.
Here is where most MLMers get got. How much money are you now making with PS. With the failure rate so high, I bet you don’t (after expenses) make enough to sustain your business. If you do, you are a pastor, tell the truth. Show us your w-2 forms. This is the question I ask all MLM who approach me with the get-rich quick scheme. None, out of many has proven their income yet. Are you in that 1/2 of 1% that succeed? If you are, congratulations, you just hit the lottery!lol
it would be nice if you put the responses into their proper order, Joe. Why have you completely re-arranged the statements to be taken out of context as they are? Oh, and for the record, Pete sounds a LOT angrier than I did…LOL see ya.
Randy, thats the website doing that, not me. I try to answer them in order I get them.
Jen, seriously now! Do you honestly feel that by offering to tell people about a great product is doing them harm? You personally don’t recommend products or places of interest to people you know as well?
Joe, I heard very little mentioned in these discussions about the preferred customer plans other than why you personally couldn’t see anyone signing up for that. I’ll tell you why people sign up for the PC option. Because after 3 months, they get an additional 10% off on top of the already lowered price which basically brings down the cost to wholesale.
How am I plaguing people with a fantastic weight loss product at under $100 when there are many other comparably priced products your grocery store shelves, by the way, which don’t work as effectively as Plexus imho. Case in point, the whole Sensa fad! I bought into that and spent over $300 trying that product for several months. I didn’t lose nearly as much fat as I did with Plexus Slim.
As far as signing people up as ambassadors? You have to be educated in mlm to make the business work for you and be willing to WORK it as a business. In the initial stage, I do recommend contacting all your friends and relatives but I certainly don’t recommend HOUNDING people as Jen suggested. That is just bad business etiquette. The fact of the matter is that as soon as someone signs up as an ambassador, they are instantly eligible for tax credits that they otherwise would not have come tax time.
Home based businesses allow many things to written off AS LONG AS YOU KEEP THE PROOF! But, as I have said, if you are actually working this as a business, then that will be no problem. In these desperate times with unemployment on a rampage, and people still out of work, this has helped many of my friends establish a secondary income stream that has helped them get by.
Will everyone become a Emerald? NO, because the majority of people do not work this MLM or any other mlm for that matter as a business. They get caught up in the dream building phase and never move past that. They sit and dream about it all day but they never pick up the phone or actually get creative in prospecting. Everyone on my facebook is aware that I am a ambassador at this point and they have also seen the weight loss pictures to verify my success using the product.
I have also been creative with actual advertising, and yes, that is part of working a business.Everyone here talks about these rah rah meetings but I haven’t been to one of them yet because I am helping to launch this product in the North where there are no such meetings. I’m utilizing 16 years of mlm experience from many other products that I have also been involved with and sadly, I elected to dream about success in the past versus actually leaning into the storm of rejection and pressing on.
Jen, I think you and everyone else here have simply tried to use my role as a pastor out of context. You don’t know me well enough to make the statements you did but regardless of what you say, I don’t find anything wrong with telling someone about the Plexus products. They are fantastic products! Maybe some of you got into the business based on the money aspect but I got into the business because I saw opportunity to minister to people’s health and to also help them find income.
To help them make something for themselves rather than stand around with their hands out. Working a mlm business is one of the hardest businesses to work because of naysayers like those who tell you you can’t do it and that you will never succeed because they couldn’t succeed! That’s hogwash!
My goal in these responses was to simply stand up for something that I personally believe in and know to work better than more expensive programs out there. I am helping people move forward with their lives. I’m sorry if I offended any of you because of my passion for this product. As far as robots? Again, I know what it takes to build a business and what it takes to fail. Sitting on your butt and only telling half a dozen people about the opportunity will guarantee failure.
Asking people permission to tell them about a great product on the market and letting them make a decision on how they wish to purchase the product is a much different scenario than what I am hearing from all of you. It’s like you were chasing the buck versus simply trying to help people. So based on your responses, I can see how you might feel that I am trying to take advantage of people but please know that my approach is MUCH different than yours!
High priced? Yea, go check out what Jenny Craig costs each week and then lets compare. Expensive? Well, I guess when you factor in the cost of the new clothes…then yea, it can get expensive because you are gonna need new clothes after taking Plexus and letting the weight come off naturally.
That’s really all I have to say on this blog. I would appreciate it if all of you would quit attacking me as if I am running some cult or something in which Plexus is the entry fee to the sanctuary or insinuate that I am preying on my flock? How dare you insinuate such a thing. Do you think I lack class as an ordained minister or that I would hound people based on that relationship? If you do then shame on you!
Joe, Please do me a favor and watch the video I sent you and then readjust your review accordingly. I think you realize at this point that you may not have given this product a fair shake down. I really am still amazed in how you can review a product without actually having tried it. That in and of itself should tell the readers that you didn’t FULLY evaluate the product. If you’d like a 3 day trial, message me and I will sell you one for the retail cost and ship it to your for free so you can finish your review. 😎
Randy, Thanks but I have no intention of altering my review based on a video interview. my website is about revealing supplements according to the scientific research and evidence on them. While I will toss in my own thoughts and opinions occasionally, if they are relevant and make the science more understandable, the science takes center stage.
When you have the studies you originally said existed, I will be happy to look at them – and if they are published – I will add them to what I have already written.
Pete, you say it so much better than I!! Does this stuff work?? I don’t know. It may or it may not. I submit, for the pastor’s consideration, as well as other users of this product this. Don’t you think it is highly possible that by drinking this stuff you are (greatly) reducing the number of calories you used to consume in place of this stuff??
I also submit, for the pastor’s consideration as well as other readers. There is no secret to weight loss!! You eat less junk, you eat a quality diet, you take quality vitamin supplements (from a health food store) and you get off of your substantial derrière and move. And you keep that up, for the rest of your days. You occasionally eat junk but you don’t make it a way of life.
Drinking a diet shake is not a way to live the rest of your life. Commercial diet plans, as referenced by the pastor, prey on people who want an easy solution and/or someone to hold their hand and give them the occasional “atta boy” Sometimes people need professional help to find out why they overeat. That would be a professionally trained councillor, not someone selling some form of a magic pill. .
So, I give you, free of any charge, the secret to taking weight off and keeping it off. And yes pastor, I do know of what I speak, I have lost a substantial amount of weight and yes I work at keeping it off.
Pastor, MLM is just plain scummy, fancy it up anyway you want, you are taking advantage of people. Period. .
Joe, would like to make one more post in reference to Randy’s post. I did not answre all his objections, and feel compelled to do so. It invloves PS, but mainly the business side. Lot of people, I think, would be interested. Wanted your ok.
Sure pete go ahead. even though I have no problems with MLM myself as long as it doesn’t bankrupt the person selling it, I understand people have strong feelings about this on both sides of the fence and you have insights that I do not have. I prefer to look at only the research on supplements.
So far all I’m getting is that your attacking the business part of PS. I have taken this product for a week and lost 3.8lb! 3 inches total in my stomach, hip, and thigh areas. I do not go for the pyramid scheme, period! After my 4th day on Plexus I was out socializing with people. Feeling great!
I did a 1 week trial and all the negativity you telling me here is the accelerator and that people are wanting to make money off of me. My sister is also doing this with me she lost 5lb in the first week! On day 4 my sister found a new want to work out harder. She has had stomach problems so she has to take Zantac everyday just to eat vegetables. After 5 days she no longer needed this medication. She looks great and happy.
Now to me I have thyroid problems have been eating healthy for 6months, exercising 6 days a week! In that time I only lost 5lb, had no energy, lost all interest in seeing/talking to people or playing with my children. I have found a new/ old me in the past week. I made my children goodies for there classes, excited to get football equipment, and went out to 2 dinners with people.
I also have been doing my research on the negative and positive. You are the only person that has a negative thing to say and your followers. Of course caffeine is going to give you the jitters… So don’t take the accelerator. Even after reading your research and the responses a week ago I decided to try this product.
The results outweigh your negativity. Thank you for all the information you have given but I do believe people should do there own research first and not let one mans option decide what they want to do for themselves.
Nichole, I have not been attacking the business of plexus slim. I only reviewed the product. As Ive said I have no issue with MLM as long as they don’t make people buy the product up front – before the sell it – and there isn’t a gigantic up front fee to be a distributor. My role here is to present the evidence/or lack of and research, known and potential side effects and let you make your own decision.
What do you think about the ALLI weight loss meds that’s FDA approved?
Melissa, do you mean me and what do I think? I think most of weight loss drugs have been an utter failure. There have been some who have been helped by them but a lot of them have been recalled because when they go in and toy with cell physiology, sometimes they get results they didn’t anticipate like heart problems. For example, Meridia (sibutramine) was a weight loss drug that was yanked from the US market because it called heart attacks. In other reviews Ive written Ive discovered that some weight loss supplements have been spiked with sibutramine. See my reviews on Zi Xiu Tang and Hokkaido weight loss pills for more on this.
Randy, you should have learned about denying truth to anyone is wrong, especially in your supposed field. You should have learned that in preaccher 101 in school.
Saved my money for when someone approaches me im MLM? oh yeah I will give my money to someone like you, who will give it to those at the top of the food chain to improve their to help better their lives, not mine or
yours. You are new at this, “brainwashing” is just beginning. Give it time, everyone understands when their pocketbooks are depleted .
Randy, I am personally done talking to you. I will not insult Joe’e site with you, and your assignine statements any longer. Get educated my friend, then come back. You have embarrassed yourself enough on the product ads the distribution of it. After you beat those 99.6% odds that are against you, show us you 4 new cars, your home in the Baltic, and the funny looking dog you would bound to have. lol
From my experience you probably be laying on a mattress on the floor wondering where you next meal is coming. Yes, I saw this happen many times with people that started out just like you That is why I so passionate about helping people not make the mistakes that millions make every year, and that is losing billions of dollars.
Thank you for your advice, here’s mine to you, educate yourself on what is really and keep your, if you have one, out the conversations, you lose credibility in what you say you do.
Randy, regardless of which side of the MLM fence we are on, I think we can all agree that nothing bad can come from educating ourselves. Ultimately, that’s what I’m trying to do here. I know I ruffle a few feathers here and there, which while not my intention, is worth it if it sparks curiosity about a product and a desire to look more deeply in order to get a better picture of what it means for us, and for those who we might have influence over.
Joe, you can erase ths post if you wish but this, in my opinion, make believe preacher needs to be set straight on certain issues. The statement I am to make has nothing to with why, or how PS works, or if it even does. If it is such a great product than why sell it in Market place they have chosen.
I have heard your key rah-rah people say that PS is the #1 weight-loss product in the world. How can that be when most sales are generated in South LA., and South Miss. Last I checked, not the world. Another big fat lie.
I have never had a preacher ever consider MLM as a way of making money. This is going to build a tremendous respect from you members. What will you do, Randy, haggle these people to get into your little scheme until all go broke.
Randy, MLM breeds on “greed” and “deception ” and I believe, the bible has a few things to say about those. I could quote you “scriptures” but doubt if you will, or have read them. Blows my mind when a pastor falls for something like this. Watch out congregation here comes your preacher riding up in his Lexus that he actually achieved from people in is downline losing money.
Let us know how that works for you in the future, takes us all for a ride in your new jet to your private island you bought by conning people. I bet you want make a dime, no more than minimal wage after expenses. When you get all this money let us know. lol Most would have a better changes gambling in Las Vegas. But, don’t get me wrong, enjoy your product.
A friend of mine lost almost 20 lbs in a month without changing anything about her life style. She takes both the accelerator and drink. Her husband lost 10 lbs that month with just the drink. After a difficult pregnancy spent on bed rest, I have around 80 lbs to lose.
I am starting P90X tomorrow, but want to try PS to help me with energy and appetite control. I don’t want to just be skinny. I want to be fit. I doubt I will use the accelerator because (while I am the tired mother of an 8 month old and a 4 year old), I hate the feeling of speed. I use no energy drinks or shots. Speed tends to have a negative and almost opposite effect on me. I suffer from an anxiety disorder, and take alprazolam as needed–maybe 1/2 mg every few days.
The alprazolam actually gives me energy. I did not take it while pregnant or nursing. Would the shake interfere with my anxiety meds? I really want something to help with my appetite. We want to have a third child, and I do not want to overweight while pregnant…especially if the pregnancy puts me on bed rest again. I currently weigh 210, but I have great blood pressure (115/70). If not PS, what do you recommend for appetite control?
Chelsea, Ive written abut weight loss supplements before on my personal site here is a link http://www.joe-cannon.com/what-weight-loss-supplements-work/
Of supplements, I think those have have fiber are safest. One such fiber that is in a lot of weight loss supplements is glucomannan (knojac). search the site for those words and you can see what Ive said before about it.
Have you ever talked a dietitian about this? they may be able to help. you can find an RD at EatRight.org and searching by your zip code.
Thank you! No, I haven’t really spoken to anyone. I have never had a problem with weight or my health until I started having children. Years of dance, tennis, gymnastics, yoga, and martial arts throughout my childhood and early 20s allowed me to eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted without much consequence.
I am 36 now, and apparently have to start actually putting an effort into my appearance. I am obviously not as active as I used to be which is why I am turning to P90X. Unfortunately, I am still wanting to eat as if my activity levels were still high. Before children, I was a healthy 130-5. I will look into the RD. Thanks again! 🙂
Chelsea, glad I could help. since you mentioned P90X, it can be a good program. just remember to progress at your own pace and dont try to do what they do if you dont feel you cant. There is a condition called rhabdomyolysis which happens when we exercise too hard. its been known to show up with P90x and other really hard exercise routines. P90x can be done safely. just pace yourself. here is more on rhabdomyolysis if your not familiar with it

Randy
I speak from past experience from PS as an “ambassador”, and from 3yrs. of research on the MLM “business opportunity”.
Typical MLMer. Probably has wasted tons of money chasing that elusive “dream” which in most cases will never come, with PS, or any other MLM company. Randy, your main goal and interest is not PS, it’s the “business opportunity” with product (PS) there to make it legal. Based on data available, your chances of success in lee than 1/2 of 1%. (failure rate of 99.6%. Joe is not taking dreams away from people, they are taking dreams away from themselves.
Your criticism of Joe! Simple, MLMers dislike well-educated critical thinkers who can see through the smoke and mirrors. I think Joe, like any other clinician, expects PS, to substantiate their outrageous claims. PS, or you cannot do this because the data is either hidden, or not there. The study you speak of, I have seen and evaluated, it doesn’t hold water.
Randy, in my opinion, here’s where you fit in. I’m sure you have been to one of those PS “motivational seminars”, or as I call them, rah-rah meetings. They are not so “mind numbing” as they are “. mind distracting”.
Good feelings are whipped up and lifelong “dreams”, as you talk about, stimulated and then linked to the “business opportunity”, as if the latter could materialize the former. Logical flows of cause and effect based on rigorous research, like Joes’s, are replaced with highly emotional , but intellectually flawed mental linkages to keep you, the MLM recruit hooked.
Randy, look yourself in the mirror and see if this image doesn’t fit you and all other people involved in PS, and other MLM companies.
The market for PS,and distributors will become satuated at some time , and “poof” no more PS.
Randy, PS (MLM) is sorta like death, you know the end is coming, you just don’t know when.
Randy, do your homework like Joe. If PS works for you great, keep spending your money on, in my opinion, an unness., hype-up, and over-priced vitamin.
Sir, with all due respect. Your failure in PS will not be mine! You are also a dream thief by the comments I hear and refuse to hear your rubbish! The product works plain and simple. I am living proof of that and as a pastor, I am far more concerned in the health benefits that this product offers versus making money off of people.
Anyone who has not taken the product and simply puts forth a review like this isn’t doing the product justice and you know it. Back to you though, I would imagine your dream was stolen by someone else as well. You let someone tell you that you would never make it and that the system wouldn’t work for you. Sound about right?
The problem with your statistic is it is based on the laziness you exerted in trying to help people. I on the other hand have seen people get their self esteem back once they lost 60+ pounds for which gratitude is found in merely seeing their smile!
The bottom line in anything is that if you work a mlm as a business, you will see rewards no matter what the product is but on the flipside, no mlm is going to make a lazy person rich. Yes, 99% of America is probably classified as lazy si in that respect, you fall right in line with everyone else who didn’t have the fortitude to believe in something.
But you can continue to fund the dreams and goals of the shareholders for the company you are employed at or if it is a smaller business, you can watch your boss/owner take the dream vacation that you wish you could afford. Maybe watch him buy the car YOU wish you had money to buy.
That’s a pyramid and the ones at the top of that system make all their dreams come true at your expense. This isn’t rah-rah…this is simple economics and the ability to make something for yourself in this free society that we live in. You don’t like PS, then design your own supplement, do the research, bring it to market and create something for yourself but please don’t sit on the sidelines and whine about the fact that you didn’t do it or can’t get anyone signed up underneath you.
That is what I hear from your response Anonymous. Heck, you didn’t even have the integrity to give your name so why should anyone listen to a word you have to say? Should I show you HOW to build the dream and live it or can you get back in touch with the person who told you about PS to begin with. I’d suggest that you do and maybe you too will start to see lower cholesterol readings, weight loss, and stable blood pressure readings just like myself and the many thousands of other people who give real testimony about this great product.
Joe claims he doesn’t take these products before he reviews them in order to stay neutral. This could be equated with MotorTrend doing a review on a car without driving it….and doing all the analysis based on what the car had for parts. LOL
Randy, your analogy of me and motor-trend is not valid. Before MotorTrend test drives a car, the car has been put through its paces – inspected for safety, quality, comfort, make sure everything works, etc. Plexus slim has never undergone any of that before kind of testing that I am aware of.
skip to 1:36 and it will begin talking about the process used for making this product from the co-developer himself.
Randy, Im guessing you were referring to a video or something you meant to imbed. nothing showed up. If its a distrubtor website you were going to show I cant allow that as its against my policy.
then you deny the truth to your readers… plain and simple. Pete, you might want to save your money the next time someone offers you a mlm opportunity as well. That’s just some friendly pastoral advice.
just finished reading the exchange, above. Here is my 2 cents. Regardless of how anyone thinks this product is good or bad, works or doesn’t, MLM is downright evil. It involves hounding your friends and relatives to get aboard, and then hounding them to hound their friends. All the while the money moves up the chain. Get enough people below you, some of the funds might end up in your hands.
If this stuff, or any other shake, vitamin etc was above board and legitimate, with research to back up the claims and not just “testimonials”, it would be sold in a legitimate retail environment. How do I know this you may well ask. I lost a dear friendship to MLM. I just wasn’t interested in being a downline, and I just wasn’t interested in purchasing the product at an inflated price to avoid becoming a downline!!
Maybe they were not such good friends, but shame on you pastor, if you, in a spiritual leadership role, is taking advantage of those who look up to you. And buddy, taking advantage of those folks is what you are doing, and eventually some of the flock will wake up.
This post is directed to Randy, and if I offend anyone that practices Christianity, or any other religion, I apologize now. I think this point needs to be made to Randy in particular, who says he is a pastor.
At a meeting some time ago, I was asked this question. Are there special problems for Christians who practice MLM?
Not being an expert on the Bible, I researched the question, and brought the best answer I could come up with the following week.
Here it is! I am not claiming all MLM is bad, just the way is designed to work today, which is a whole new book.
MLM, as most are practice today, feeds on discontentment. The message to be conveyed, implied or obvious, is “DON’T waste your life working for “Corporate America!” Why bother getting a college degree (or job,or whatever)….just to work for “The Man!” ” Your spouse doesn’t make enough money, “and so forth.” “You need more, is the gist. Dissatisfaction is thus stoked and prodded by MLM materials and culture. Discontent appears to be the preferred fuel for the MLM engine.
Yet, Christian doctrine is clear that believers are to “be content” (Hebrews 13:5, Philippians 4:11-12, 1Timothy 6:6-11) and, motivated NOT by grumbling or greed or discontentment, but rather by the Holy Spirit. For a professing Christian, how can this stark of difference of emphasis and motivation be resolved with “standard” MLM practice presentations, and culture?
Christians are enjoined in Ephesians 4:28 “not to steal”, but rather to do “something useful” so that they can have something to share with those in need”. In my opinion, and based on my research, the get-rich by magic pyramid-dream that I think most MLM companies in this day represent is nothing less than stealing and you don’t even have to be a Christian to know that this is wrong. If you are in MLM, get out. If you are thinking about it DON’T DO IT. Do something honest and useful instead.
Good luck to those who are selling PS on it’s merits, and not putting recruitment as the number one goal. This is where the confusion begins and the word “pyramid scheme” arises.
Oh My Goodness, pastor, you are actually trolling here and trying to sell the guy who writes this site your product!! THAT is beyond hilarious!!! You are not even volunteering to comp him to gain a convert. And you have the nerve to talk about class!!
Most people wouldn’t know a true pyramid scheme if it bit them in the butt. I don’t understand your problem with Network Marketing / MLM / Direct Sales.
Plexus reps buy product wholesale from the company and sell it retail to customers. This is a typical business transaction. What is wrong with that?
Plexus reps get paid to build teams and help others. What is wrong with that? How is this different than any other kind of sales where a manager gets a commission based on what his sales team is doing?
Not everyone who gets into Network Marketing makes money. Same as not all car salespeople are making $100k per yer. I assure you that the ones who put effort into getting the proper training and are actively promoting the product are making money.
Gary, if you directed your question to me, I have said many times I have no problem with MLM as long as it does not have a high application fee and does not require the distributors to buy the product up front. Buying the product upfront puts extra stress on people to sell the product that they bought.
That said, you mentioned something I was not aware of when you said “Plexus reps buy product wholesale from the company and sell it retail to customers.” If what you said is true – that people must buy the product up front and then sell it later – then I do have a problem with Plexus Slim. Buying the product first means people are investing their money in a product that they might not be able to sell. What if they cant sell it? What happens then? Will plexus slim buy the product back from the distributors if they cant sell it – at the same price they paid for it?
Hey Randy
I’ll give you my name. My name is Pete, and I post on this site frequently. Did not fill in the appropriate boxes due to Joe;s new format. Randy, you would think you would keep religion out of this conversation. Sounds like to me you are angry, shame, shame, shame. lol Randy, I could write a lot more about PS, and the MLM business model, but if Joe, with his knowledge can’t educate you, I’m licked.
I find it hard to believe you are a pastor. If you use PS because you like the product find but if you are trying to make money by recruiting people, you are going end up financially hurting most people. Pastor, and I used that word with respect, you may not understand how MLM negatively effects people, but look up, he does.
It was me that wrote MLM with a product involved, (in most cases) is the most “deceptive” business practice on the face of the earth. Think about the definition of “deception”. I stand by what I said, based on data, not hear-say. (99.6% failure rate) Pastor? wow.
Sorry, Joe, couldn’t help my self. These robots offend me.
Pete, I understand and your right I did change the way people log into comment. It was a necessary evil.
Hi Joe, I live in AZ and I’m very familiar with the area where this business is located. Actually, it is not a strip mall but an office/warehouse area by Scottsdale Airport.
Andy K, thanks for that! I have amended my review your information. Thanks!
I have contacted the Plexus Corporation and they are going to send me that information but in the meantime, here’s the link to the generic version of the study: plexusworldwide.com/science/
Randy thanks. I have seen that page. it doesn’t look like the study is published but I will look forward to seeing what they send you.
I have spent time reading your posts on Plexus and am very disappointed that someone who values health sooooo much also puts such a very low value on it when it comes to money. I have been taking plexus now for a year and am off all my blood pressure and diabetes meds.
I have lost about 60 lbs and numerous inches. I would like to also point out that I’m a pharmacist and can do a fairly good job of telling you what the products are for. If you knew the history of Plexus better you would also know that the product was not first designed as a weight loss.
It was designed to help diabetics stabilize their blood sugars. Plexus did their own study (although small) to see what would occur. It was found that every patient lost at least a small amount of weight and some were quite significant. This is the start of the weight loss program.
Plexus has done an awesome job in putting together a product that tastes good and is all natural. The reason for the Lo Han is because stevia typically leaves an aftertaste and can be quite bitter so the Lo Han helps to counteract that and improve the flavor. They could have just used sucralose which would have been easier and probably cheaper but it would not be all natural then.
Not all ingredients in the products are going to be for weight loss. Deciding what goes into making these products is not easy.
You recommend to just go buy something off the shelf which would be cheaper and give it a try instead of putting your money into Plexus. The stuff on the shelf does not have the same standards as what Network Marketing Companies would have. Many products that can be bought off the shelf may not even have the amount of product listed on the bottle in the actual product.
You say Plexus is expensive. For someone who has to use many pills each month and risk sugar lows and highs which can damage internal organs like pancreas and kidneys this is nothing. The effect that it has had on my life is phenomenal. I’m off 3 different pills and that alone is costing me less. The value you put on health is very low. This I can appreciate is probably because you don’t have any health conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes.
For those seriously considering Plexus, really take a look at your life and see how much it’s worth to you. I do not take the accelerator, and plexus does tell people with heart problems not to take it. All aids out their to help you lose weight have potential. Is it going to work for you? I don’t know. It has done great for me and I still have some work to do but sure am better for it.
Tara, I’ll be the first to say I’m glad you have lose weight. What about the other people who it not only didn’t work but who had strange side effects?
As I said previously if I knew where the studies were published I would have added them to my review – and I will add them -provided they are peer reviewed and published in a science/medical journal.
I don’t think you can actually say that Network Marketing companies have higher standards than other companies. I’m sure they do have high standards but that’s not always fool proof. Everybody can make mistakes. For example, here is an FDA recall of another network marketing product called Protandim that was recalled because of impurities found in the supplement http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/SafetyInformation/SafetyAlertsforHumanMedicalProducts/ucm331323.htm
I see no problems with trying a lesser expensive option first if it saves people money and keeps them out of debt. I’m guilty of that believing this.
I put a BIG emphasis on health Tara so I disagree with you on that point. You are a pharmacist. I have a MS in exercise science and a BS degree in chemistry and biology. I’ve invested a lot of time in this. I won’t depreciate you so I ask you don’t depreciate me.
As for the accelerator, my opinion is that I would not recommend it. If plexus slim was so powerful, why would the accelerator be needed?
Tara I think it comes down to this. You say you’ve tried pleus slim and it worked. Wonderful. I did not try it but rather, only looked at the research.
Tara can you reference me to the research Plexus did?
Nicole, Im still waiting for the research also. On their science page they make a reference to a small group of people who used plexus slim and lost weight. That study does not look like it was published in a medical/science journal so its impossible for me to know how the study was conducted.
Tara THANK YOU! See my post above dated May 3,2013. So glad a pharmacist help dispell my fears. Congratulations on your better health and weight loss and thank you again!
Well, just as always, I see a nay sayer amongst the diet industry saying NO to a product that works while saying on the sidelines, “I’m the expert!” Question for you Joe: Did you actually use the product after seeing a doctor first to see if the product worked for you? I mean, given the fact that there is a 60 day money back guarantee, you would have had nothing to lose! Do you also give everyone a 60 day money back guarantee on this rag tag book you are promoting to everyone? Probably not!
I have been taking the Slim and the Accelerator for over a year now and have seen dramatic results in that for the first time in my adult life, I no longer have a high cholesterol count as a result of using this product. Oh, and don’t give me your BS explanation that it was naturally from the weight loss either because I have had weight loss before under a doctor’s supervision and seen my weight increase.
Did you evaluate the 2 clinical trials that this product has personally gone through? The product was developed for diabetics in order to stabilize sugars and the side effect is the weight loss. You can nay say all you want but the testimonials from people speak for themselves.
And all the ambassadors that failed at this….you should be ashamed of yourselves! You know darn well that you sat on your butt and never told anyone about this great product and let someone like Joe here, steal your dreams right out from underneath you.
Joe is a dream buster is what he truly is and you should all think about that for a second. Because since he told you it DIDN’T work and how bad it is, and you believed everything he says, I warn you that when he says for you to all jump off a bridge, that you seriously also consider the words coming from this man that is merely interested in slamming every supplement he comes in contact with in order to promote his own agenda….book sales!
You are definitely entitled to your opinions Joe, but I think you really crossed the line in many of your reviews and you probably also enjoy a lot of residual income as a result of this website. If you spent half that time scamming people into buying into your false ideology, you might actually be able to help people lose weight in this society.
Somehow, I doubt that you will allow this post to actually be published though since it would contradict all the work you did to debunk the minds of the sheeple who you have stole dreams from. You are a real piece of work. Scammers come in all sorts of people but you are right at the top as far as I’m concerned!
I wouldn’t buy your book of lies if it was all I needed to start a fire on a shipwrecked island! LOL.
Randy, I have no problems with you disagreeing with me or posting your words. You asked me if I reviewed the 2 clinical trials on plexus slim. I did not and here’s why: I couldn’t find them.
I just checked the plexus slim website again and didn’t see them either.
Please share with me the names of the studies and where they are published and I will be very happy to add them to my review.
No I did not try plexus slim before I wrote my review. If I did and said “it worked” or “it didn’t work” then I would only be giving a testimony. I prefer to look at only the research on the product (if it exists) or the ingredients in the product.
If you would be so kind as to show me the studies on plexus slim I will add them to my review.
Ouch! Joe gave you a breakdown of facts, he did his research! I too research everything extensively, I’m also a nurse. It may work for you and that is great, but read about others above that have had negative side effects. I think Joe gave accurate information. Don’t attack the guy for giving a scientific breakdown of the ingredients!
Char, thanks for that 🙂
You can’t win Joe
Nicole, LOL I’m not trying to win, just show the facts and let people decide 🙂
Joe I apologize I thought my reply of “you won’t win” attached to the comment I was reading. Without that it makes no sense. I’m on your side.
Nicole LOL thats fine, no biggie. Sometimes things get lost in translation. No worries 🙂
Have you done a study on Green Coffee Bean?
Nicole, yes I have here it is http://supplementclarity.com/green-coffee-bean-weight-loss-review/
Well, I must say this has been enlightening on a psychological level. I was curious about the product, but certain rantings and gnashing of teeth has convinced me otherwise. All parties may take my comment any way they wish.
As the Joker said “annnnddd….NOW!” {BOOM}
I feel that my input about the Plexus products may have helped to dispel some inaccuracies with Joe’s initial review. I have taken Plexus Accelerator for more than a year with no side effects but I do tell people with high blood pressure to seek a doctor’s approval first. Plexus now distributes the Accelerator in a 60 capsule supply for a 30 day use. The idea is to cut the dose in half so it isn’t so strong for those people who have an issue with caffeine.
P.S. It’s nice to see that the comments are now posting correctly, Joe. Go figure!
