Protein In IdealShape
Each scoop of the IdealSpape has 11 grams of protein. That's not bad but it's less than in other weight loss shakes.
The protein comes from the “IdealShape Protein Blend.” This is composed of:
- Whey protein concentrate
- Whey protein isolate
- Soy protein isolate
IdealShape is mostly whey protein concentrate has the least soy protein isolate.
What Are The Added Sugars?
Each scoop has 3 grams of added sugars. Added sugars are not natural. they are the sugars the company adds to make the product taste better. You should not eat more than 50 grams of added sugars per day.
How Much Fiber In IdealShape?
Each scoop has 5 grams of fiber. This is good. It means the shape is high in fiber. The fiber comes from the “IdealShape Hunger Blocking Blend.” This is a combination of :
- Inulin
- Potato protein extract
Inulin
Inulin, also called chicory root extract, is a soluble fiber found in many processed foods. Can it help weight loss? One study noted inulin could help weight loss in people with prediabetes. Another study, however, did not show it helped but inulin did appear to lower blood pressure and alter the microbiome. The microbiome eats fiber. Because inulin is a fiber it makes sense it would alter the gut health of those eating it.
Potato Protein Extract
Slendesta is the name given to the potato protein ingredient. The name Slendesta is a reference that the ingredient is supposed to make you slender. Slendesta is a trademarked name and refers to a compound called Proteinase Inhibitor II (“PI2”) found in potato skins.
So how does Slendesta work? It boasts a hormone called cholecystokinin (CCK). CCK, in turn, curbs appetite.
Heres a video the company has put out on Slendesta
Preliminary evidence in mice suggests Slendesta may decrease food intake and promote weight loss. While encouraging, human proof for Slendestra could not be located.
Enzymes in IdealShape
The shake also contains these enzymes too:
- Bromelain
- Papain
- Amylase
- Protease
- Lipase
- Cellulase
- Lactase
Proof that these enzymes help people lose weight cannot be located. Enzymes are proteins are likely digested when they hit the stomach. While they may aid some who have digestion issues, most healthy people probably don't need enzyme supplements.
Is IdealShape Gluten-Free?
Yes. There is no gluten in the supplement.
What About IdealBoost?
The IdealBoost supplement is a powder you mix in water. The supplement is said to provide “healthy energy” and block hunger for up to 3 hours. This supplement contains 80 mg of caffeine. The caffeine comes from a combination of:
- caffeine
- green tea
- green coffee bean (review)
There is also a weight loss blend, which contains:
- green tea (review)
- raspberry ketones (review)
- green coffee bean
The supplement contains Vitamin B3, B6 and vitamin B12. In addition, the IdealBoost has 300 mg of Slendesta.
Does it help the IdealShape work better? This is not known.
IdealShape Side Effects
In healthy people, IdealShape weight loss shake is likely fine to use. If your going to try it for yourself here are some things to consider. This list is not complete:
- Start with less than recommended for the first week
- you may be more “gassy” for while due to the inulin fiber. This should eventually go away.
- Stop taking IdealShape at least 2 weeks before having surgery
- if you take any medications to talk to your doctor first
- Talk to your doctor if your pregnant or nursing
- Soy may inhibit iodine absorption and this can lower thyroid hormone production. Soy does not cause hypothyroidism, however.
Can You Buy IdealShape In Stores
While anything is possible, its more likely to be purchased on its website IdealShape.com or websites like Amazon.
IdealShape Guarantee
The supplement has a 30-day money-back guarantee. To get a refund call 800-515-0896. You must get a return merchandise number (RMA Number) first before you return it. If you buy IdealShape from Amazon, they will have their own return policy. The price may be different too.
How Much Does IdealShape Cost?
When I checked the product website, one container cost $41.99.
Does IdealShape Work?
IdealShape doesn't have many calories so if you use it in place of a meal, it makes sense it may help people lose weight especially if it's combined with an ideal meal plan. The same is true for all over weight loss shakes also. The Slendesta potato protein ingredient in IdealShape is interesting and I'm looking forward to more studies on it.

Hi, Joe. Thank you for the great review. I am looking around and trying to find the healthiest meal replacement drink (that still tastes good). I’m thinking this may be it.
Thank you again.
Joe says
Hi Brian, you are very welcome. Glad to help 🙂
Joolz says
I use the shake as a breakfast replacement but only mix with water and in conjunction, I also use their energy fat burner + the appetite control. With all three in 2 month I have lost 34 pounds on diet alone. I purposely did not exercise to see if it worked on diet alone and it did. I only had 20 pounds to lose anyway.
I absolutely love the product and digestive issues have subsided since using the products. I will say I am cautious of my food intake and keep track with My Fitness Pal which helps a lot.
As for the Ideal Shape products, I did notice a spike in energy without jitters and my appetite was majorly suppressed all day and I was able to reach satiety easily without over eating.
I liked this review and it had lots of great, easy to understand information.
Thanks A Bunch,
Joe says
Joolz, thanks for sharing and I’m happy that Ideal Shape worked for you.
AKap says
Hi I’m on my second container. The second time around it has a different taste and I also notice a small label saying “Warning: this product contains lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm”. I didn’t see this before and am concerned about any lead levels I could be consuming and/or long term affects. I am surprised you didn’t mention any of this in your review. What do you think?
Joe says
Hi AKap, The warning about lead is because of “Prop 65” (proposition 65) which a law in California that supplements sold in California are supposed to adhere to. Supplements sold in California are supposed to provide that warning. As I understand it, under the California Prop65 law, the lead levels are even lower than federal limits. My guess is the lead is naturally occurring in some of the ingredients. Even though it’s likely present in very low levels, lead is a serious toxin and even if it is a small amounts, is a big issue especially for kids and pregnant woman. Even as an adult, it concerns me also when I see this warning too.
Have you called the company to ask about the different taste? Maybe they can swap it out for you for another batch? This might be a great opportunity to ask them about the lead also. While I’m not privy to the manufacturing process, if enough people ask them, they might be able to do something to address your concerns.
Let me know what happens.

This is great info! Thank you so much for posting. I was able to compare to a plant based shake and see how they compare. I am currently drinking Vega Protein and Greens and I think I will stick with it! The price point, ingredients and fat percentage are better overall. Plus my husband has a dairy allergy so its friendly for the entire family.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the Vega brand (if you haven’t already – I am going to look now!)
thanks again!
Joe says
Hi Lisa, thanks so much! So far I have not reviewed Vega Protein and Greens. If you look at the ingredients in it, and use the search box on my site, those ingredients might pop up if I ever covered them in other reviews. I’ll add Vega Protein to my list of things to take a look at.
Crys says
I tried it and found it left an awful aftertaste. I think it’s the fake sugar in it. If I load it down with peanut bitter and eat cookies afterwards, the bad taste eventually goes away, but so do most of the health benefits. However, my skinny husband doesn’t notice the awful after taste.
Tanya says
It really works for me, tastes great and really has curbed my appetite which usually is genormous.
Joe says
Hi Tanya, thanks for sharing and glad it is working for you.
Lisa Parlato says
Great review. Do you think it’s all right for someone with type 2 diabetes? Thanks
Joe says
Hi Lisa, thanks much. While overall I think the shake is fine for people with type II diabetes, I think it might depend on whether you are taking insulin or not. Remember the shake is just a low calorie shake. this is what can help people lose weight if they use it in place of other, more high calorie foods. As your weight comes down, your diabetes may improve and this may require a change in any medications you are taking. So, I would show the ingredients or product to your doctor and let them know you want to use it to help improve your diabetes and see what they say. If you can let me know what your dr says, that would be great.
