Update 12/6/22. At one time, Anatabloc was a SUPER popular anti-inflammation supplement. It was sold online and at GNC and elsewhere. It was touted to help reduce pain, help joints and arthritis pain, and reduce chronic inflammation. Anatabloc was unique. It contained an ingredient not found in any other supplement I've EVER seen in over 20 years of investigation. This unique ingredient also contributed to its own downfall. In this unbiased, updated review, I reveal everything you need to know about Anatabloc, from its rise – and fall – to the research and proof and the company which made it. I'll also shed light on other anatabloc supplements too.
What Is Anatabloc
Before we talk about Anatabloc (sometimes misspelled Anatablock), I need to tell you about Anatabine (also called anatabine citrate). Anatabine is the active ingredient in Anatabloc. Anatabine is a chemical found in
- eggplants
- potatoes
- green tomatoes
as well as tobacco and tobacco smoke (remember this).
Chemically, anatabine “looks” like nicotine. Because of this, it was also used some anti-smoking supplements. Anatabine has a longer half life than nicotine, so it stays in the body longer. That's why it was thought it might help people quit smoking.
How Does Anatabloc Work?
Here is the way Anatabloc was supposed to reduce chronic inflammation:
1. Anatabine enters the cells of the body where it…
2. Deactivates a protein called NFkB.
3. When NFkB is deactivated, it can't enter the nucleus of the cell (the brain center of the cell) to cause excessive cellular inflammation.
Inflammation is thought to play a role in MANY diseases, such as:
and many others.
So, if Anabloc worked, it might have disease-modifying benefits. If you read the comments below, you will see some people have said some pretty amazing things too.
Anatabloc Ingredients
Anatabloc contains these ingredients
Anatabine | 1 mg |
Vitamin A | 500 IU |
Vitamin D3 | 40 IU |
This review will focus only on Anatabine because this is “secret sauce” in Anatabloc.
Other Ingredients
These other ingredients are also found in this supplement: Mannitol, natural and artificial mint flavors, sucralose, silicon dioxide, stearic acid, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide (color), natural glaze, methylparaben, propylparaben, triethyl citrate, citric acid, BHT, mono and diglycerides, and polysorbate 80
These ingredients played no role in the results or benefits of Anatabloc.
Anatabloc Research
When this review was originally created, the proof for Anatabloc was mostly on lab animals. There is now human proof. This review will focus only on human research. Much of the research is on Anatabine, which is an active ingredient in Anatabloc. Still, proof for anatabine is proof for Antabloc.
Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals (more on them below) supports and plays a role in much of the research.
Studies On Anatabloc
In one report, researchers in the US gave Anatabloc or a placebo to 146 people with Hashimoto's disease – the most common form of hypothyroidism. People were given 9-24 mg of anatabine in the form of lozenges. Those taking Anatabloc saw a significant reduction in thyroid autoantibodies.
Some people saw over a 20% decrease in thyroid autoantibodies. This means better working thyroid glands.
One small study (10 people) noted a face cream containing anatabine improved skin appearance, reducing redness and blotchy skin appearance. This does make some sense. Niacin, which looks a little bit like anatabine has been used in skin creams for years.
Niacin is also VERY popular in the anti-aging world. See the Niagen review for more on this.
Anatabine cigarettes have been shown to reduce nicotine levels in smokers significantly. This study reflects the interest in using anatabine to help people quit smoking.
Because inflammation follows exercise, researchers were interested in seeing if anatabine would reduce inflammation after people worked out. In this study, 18 men were given either a placebo or 6-12 mg of anatabine per day for 10 days. They also performed an intense exercise program.
Unfortunately, this noted anatabine did not reduce pain, or swelling or help muscle strength. This is noteworthy, given TV commercials featuring pro golfers John Isner and Fred Couples.
In another exercise study, researchers gave Anatabloc or a placebo to 17 men. The dosage of Anatabloc used was 6-12 mg. While these researchers saw that Anatabloc did not reduce exercise-induced muscle damage, it did appear to reduce markers of inflammation such as C reactive protein (CRP). That is interesting.
Preliminary research suggests anatabine activates NFR2, a substance that raises naturally produced antioxidant defenses such as superoxide dismutase (SOD). This is at the heart of some proposed anti-aging supplements, such as Protandim and PB125.
There are also several lab animals and test-tube studies involving Anatabloc/anatabine. I won't cover them here because we are people and not mice, rats or test tubes.
Summary Of Anatabloc Research
Here is a summary of the Anatabloc human research:
- Anatabine reduced thyroid antibodies in people with hypothyroidism
- Anatabine lowers nicotine levels in smokers
- Anatibine did not reduce muscle damage, pain, or swelling but may lower CPR levels
Anatabloc Questions
Let's now answer some common questions people have asked me about this supplement.
Can Anatabloc help muscle soreness?
Muscle soreness after exercise (DOMS) is very common. Currently, the proof seems to show Anatabloc doesn't reduce muscle soreness, swelling or muscle damage. It may reduce a blood test marker of inflammation called CRP. I think we need more exercise research.
Can Anatabloc Help Concussions?
There is brain inflammation when someone gets a concussion. But there is no proof that taking Anatabloc:
- reduces the risk of getting a concussion
- improves recovery time after getting a concussion
- reduces brain damage from concussions
I cannot find any research involving anatabine and concussions.
In December 2013, the FDA sent a warning letter to Star Scientific – makers of Anatabloc – telling them to remove references on their websites which gave people the impression the supplement might help concussions and other forms of traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
For more on concussions and TBI see these reviews:
Can Anatabloc Help Multiple Sclerosis?
The proof that Anatabloc can help MS is in its infancy. There is some mouse evidence it may help, but no human studies have been conducted yet.
What About Anataboc and Weight Loss?
Websites might discuss how anatabine/Anatabloc can help people lose weight or reduce weight gain, which sometimes happens when people quit smoking. But there is no good proof for this. No study has looked at reducing gaining weight after quitting smoking.
What is CigRx?
This is the anti-smoking product Star Scientific was developing before it began researching anatabine for arthritis pain and other health problems. CigRx contains anatabine too.
Anatabloc Dosage
The general recommendation is to take 2 lozenges per day. Do not use more than 6 lozenges per day. Another dosage recommendations= take your body weight into consideration. Here the Anatabloc dosages would be:
- 100-120 lbs: 2 lozenges 3x per day
- 121-170lbs: 2 lozenges 4x per day
- 171-220lbs: 2 lozenges 5x per day
- over 220lbs: 2 lozenges 6x per day
I've never seen this dosage regimen used in human studies. So, I'm not sure how accurate this is.
Who Makes Anatabloc?
Anatabloc is a product of a company called Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals. Another name for this company is Star Scientific. Star Scientific was the original name of the company. When the research changed directions from looking at Anatabine as a cure for smoking to helping arthritis pain, the company changed its name to Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals.
The phone number for the company was 800-778-2031. The company website was Anatabloc.com (the website no longer works). When this review was originally created, the Better Business Bureau listed the company address as 4470 Cox Rd Ste 110, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
There is also a connection to another company called the RosKamp Institute, located in Florida. Some of the research on Anatabloc has been conducted by this company too.
The company has since filed for bankruptcy and is no longer making Anatabloc supplements.
Should I Invest In Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals?
Star Scientific formally changed its name to Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals in 2014. Its stock symbol is RCPI. It's a publicly traded company. Regardless of what you invest in, do your homework.
Be careful with “gurus” who talk stocks up on websites, as you don't always know who you are dealing with. Sometimes unscrupulous people say things about a company to create interest so they can pump the stock price up so they can dump it for a profit. This trick is sometimes called “pump and dump.” Unless you’re an investing pro (think Warren Buffett), I recommend you talk to a financial advisor before risking any money.
Anatabloc And The FDA
Many people think the FDA does not regulate supplements. Anatabloc is proof it does. Almost from the start, the FDA claimed anatabine contained a new dietary ingredient (NDI). A new dietary ingredient is any substance that was not sold as a supplement before 1994.
Products containing new dietary ingredients need to prove to the FDA they are safe. There is also the issue that anatabine is found in tobacco. Tobacco cannot be called a dietary supplement. I think this may also have played a role in the demise of Anatabloc.
Rock Creek pharmaceuticals state that because anatabine is found in things like peppers and eggplants, it is not new and can be sold as a supplement. In the end, the FDA won, and Rock Creek stopped making Anatabloc.
Calls To Bring Back The Sale Of Anatabloc
Problems with the FDA have not stopped people from hoping for the return of Anatabloc.
This has not stopped people who loved Anatabloc from continuing to hold out hope. Former customers have launched a petition at Change.org to petition the FDA to reverse their decision and let Anatabloc be sold again.
They created the website BringBackAnatabloc.org where you can share your testimony of how the supplement helped you, sign an FDA petition to bring Anatabloc back, and read news about the supplement.
How To Buy Anatabloc: Can You Still Purchase It?
While this supplement was once VERY popular and sold at GNC and other stores, it is no longer permitted to be sold in the US. The FDA forced Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals to stop the production of Anatabloc.
Anatabloc Supplements
While Anatabloc is no longer able to be purchased in the US, I did notice other companies selling supplements said to contain anatabine.
One such company is HydraPharm (PredatorNutrition.com). They sell a supplement literally called “Anatablok” which they say contains “pure anatabine.” Predator Nutrition is not based in the US. I am not sure if they are allowed to ship their Anatablok supplement to the US.
The supplement is marked as an anti-inflammatory nootropic (brain enhancer) used to support memory and attention.
The Va Governor Controversy
As if things could not get worse, Rock Creek Pharm found itself at the center of a very public controversy involving the former Virginia governor, Robert McDonnell, and his wife. It's alleged Rock Creek gave $165,000 in gifts to the former Va governor and his wife in exchange for helping Rock Creek's development of Anatabloc.
Anatabloc Side Effects
Anatabloc is probably safe for healthy people, at least for short-term use. Human research shows no significant negative side effects. Mild to moderate side effects reported have included:
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Headache
- Tingling feelings
- Insomnia
In the comments section below, one person reported feelings of depression. This has not been observed in clinical studies.
Does Anatabloc Work?
Despite the problems with the FDA, several people swore Anatabloc worked. I never experimented with it when it was being sold and the only person I knew who did try it told me it did not reduce his pain. Pain is complicated and its possible others may have had better results.
Unfortunately, Anatabolc supplements are no longer available in the US. While, in the past, I have been rather hard on this supplement and Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals, I was sad it was taken off the market. I am happy to see some human research on anatabine, look forward to more and hope one day to see it sold once again.
Update: Riding my Recumbent Bike Daily….mostly now 15 minutes and will work up to 30 slowly. Prior to hip replacement in Oct 2010, I was a gym workout queen and then used my recumbent at home…
Hip surgery threw me into a spinal stenosis mess and I could NOT sit for a very long period of time, a couple minutes at most…it was absolutely HORRIBLE….for a good year or more…
In last qtr 2012 I went thru 16 sessions of acupuncture on spine and lower back etc…and those helped….
But as of January this year, everything has improved so much that I can SIT and even riding the recumbent now….
So I KNOW Anatabloc is the best I’ve ever tried re: anti inflammatories…granted the last 3 yrs have been my worst in my soon 75 yrs….
Congrats Joy 🙂
Joy, I read that you buy Anatabloc from Lucky Vitamin and also from Curtis C/S. I was able to find the Lucky Vitamin site, but can’t find the Curtis C/S site. Would you tell me how to get to it – possibly the web address. Thank-you, Vernon
Vernon, I dont know what Curtis C/S is. I dont think we have them here?
Shop around the Internet for the best price for Anatabloc. I bought a bottle of 300 tabs from ebay for $75. Just make sure you’re getting the 300-tab size, not the 200-tab bottle. As I said before, the stuff works.
I am on anatabloc for two weeks ,no results yet at all.i will continue the trial offer. I was contacted by a company rep.who wanted to be my “coach”‘,probably to buy more of the product. I suspect a hustle. Ralphie
Ive never heard of anatabloc coaches. do they work for star scientific?
There are no coaches, don’t buy into that crap….I have several 800# for HELP with your order and product and if you want them let me know and I will post….
Also an 800# for MD and pharmacist to help…
But who are these “anatabloc coaches?” are they associated with different companies that sell anatabloc? What do they do to coach people – or is it all just about “coaching” them to buy more anatabloc?
Joe, I never heard the term “coach”….but my kinda belief is that they are connected to the Trial Offer call center….and call people who bought the trial and push them into the auto ship stuff…..and often ship the product without the customer’s approval…it’s all been kinda messy for many and many have threw in the towel to buy the product….
I buy from the Curtis C/S and also from LuckyVitamin as I buy for my daughter too and use both sources….
With Curtis I can manage my auto shipments…..this works for me NOW….
I’ve been following Star closely for over two years along with many other folks and the subject of Star having coaches on its payroll or under contract has never come up in any discussions.
Also, as far as I know, Star isn’t in the hustle business either. If one sees no benefit from Anatabloc after taking the FREE trial sample, my suggestion would be to not order the product. The product will not help someone that doesn’t exhibit problems / complications from chronic inflammation.
Full disclosure:
The benefits for me, from taking Anatabloc, have been so dramatic that I have invested in the common stock of Star. I have no other connection to Star except that I truly believe that Anatabloc is a medical / health game changer that will be proven as the science unfolds.
GLTA
I’m on Anatabloc going on 5 months now, and buy from Anababloc and Lucky Vitamin, and get the 300 ct bottle for $80…. Don’t let that “coach” talk you into an order as they are trying to get rid of the 200 ct bottles for a “deal”…don’t buy into it…..don’t order your monthly order from the ones who call you….I don’t like their tactics….. Lucky sells it for the same price and you control your orders…..
Joe, thank you and everyone for the input on CRP. Since it was known that my back muscles were highly inflammed, I guess a CRP test wasn’t necessary. Interested in others test results as that should shed some light on effectiveness of Anatabloc.
Jay, CRP will shed light on Anatabloc. If its anti-inflammation, CRP should go down.
Jay, one has to ask for CRP….I will get one with my labs in Aug when I go in for annuals…thanks for your mention….
I too am on limited funds and “know” I’m getting relief with abloc, I’d like more but my body is wracked with lots of stuff, from advanced OA and Fibro and the hip replacement complication inflammation…
I sleep really good NOW but still wake up stiff and the beat begins each day…but I do sleep…
Whether things will improve with time, I don’t know…I’m headed into my 5th month and I take 8 per day….but NOT out of all pain believe me…I’ll be 3/4 century this summer….so as my cousin said the other day and she’s 88, the longer we live the more we have to deal with and our aging bodies…she went thru 2 hip replacements and I’ve told her about Abloc…even with new hips, one is NOT out of pain…I’m in more pain in many ways with the new hip…
Take care…
On a plane trip from Florida to Iowa and back last June, my rear end was so sore I had to get up and walk. I had x-rays, and arthritis was the cause. I began taking Anatabloc. On a trip to Wisconsin in February, I had no soreness. I used to have difficulty lying on either side in bed because of pain in my shoulders. It’s gone. I was walking briskly and developed occasional pain in my upper thighs. That doesn’t occur anymore. My right hand was stiff. No more. I’ve been running sprints and doing squats and abdominal exercises, etc., which have been causing back and neck pain.
In recent days I increased the dosage to the maximum six tabs a day (three to four previously), and the pain and soreness seem to be lessening, though I need more time to assess. I am, after all, 75 years old, so it might take a little longer to kick in.
Robert, thanks for sharing.
I’ve experienced the same body / system improvements that you speak of and to the point, I find myself having to throttle myself down so that I don’t get carried away from feeling so darn good.
I take 2 Anatabloc 5 times a day. I weigh 200 lbs and am 70 yrs. young and on Anatabloc, feel like I’m getting younger.
Have a great day and GLTA.
Joe, To your knowledge is C-RP a regular test? When my back pain was so severe, they did all kinds of blood tests on me and established that I had high inflammation but not one of the tests showed my C-RP.Even though I’m into four months of using “A” I can only say that it is helping with the pain but not getting rid of it. I must be getting some benefit or I would not spend $80 per month on my limited budget. So far so good and depending on your answer and others, I may ask my doctor for a C-RP test. Thanks again for a great website with all this input. I really enjoy listening to Joy.
Jay, you usally have to ask to have a CRP test done. I don’t think doctors regularly test for it.
A C-RP test is a non-specific test that shows if inflammation is occurring somewhere in the body do to some mechanism. I feel it is important to understand that inflammation in this case means activation of the immune system, not necessarily swelling and pain. Although you may be experiencing both as part of your immune system’s response. If your physician already knows that you have inflammation and especially if the cause is known, there is no benefit to a C-RP test. As more specific tests for specific conditions have been developed over time, the C-RP falls into disuse since it is not specific.
Jody, true CPR is a non-specific test. Since Anatabloc is touted to reduce inflammation, I feel a study of its effects on CRP is warranted.
Hi Joe, I posted in February about how Anatabloc helped control persist chronic swelling of my upper lips. I was diagnosed with CHEILITIS GRANULOMATOSA an auto immune disorder that was quit terrifying to say the least. I went to see my specialist yesterday and he was amazed at how my lip had healed and responded to the Anatabloc. My doctor had never heard of Anatabloc before but after reading the ingredients on the bottle he suggested that I continue taking the supplement.
In a few months from now I will discontinue taking the Anatabloc and see what happens. This product has been a game changer in my life. I feel great, lots of energy, my brain seems to focus better, and most important I can look at myself in the mirror. Thanks Joe.
Maurice, thats great news glad its helping you! Id say if its helping you then stick with it. While Im all about the science, I want you to have a good quality of life and if this is giving you that, without side effects, then I’d say keep doing whats working 🙂
Maurice, why totally discontinue…you could have a setback, you’ve come so far is sounds like….maybe just drop the dose and see what happens…I don’t know how much you are taking now, but lower dose maybe…that’s how I’d handle it…with such success I’d hate to have a setback…just my thoughts…it works in SO MANY ways overall as you are saying….
I guess I should clarify something. I have no intention of quitting Anatabloc in the near term, but, perhaps in a few months or a year from now I would slowly reduce the dosage and see how I respond. I have to admit I am a bit curious! We might have some research results back by then and more information about the product. I will also have my annual physical this summer and see how it has affected my cholesterol levels and my TSH. My TSH rose significantly on my last physical and I am betting that its lower now. We will see.
Maurice, Im very curious to learn what happens to your TSH levels. please let me know 🙂
Maurice ——-
Really happy for you re: the results that you have experienced with Anatabloc. One can only imagine how it feels for you to be able to like yourself again looking into a mirror. That is really fantastic. Thanks again for sharing your experience.
I agree with Joy re: not getting to curious on the “what ifs” if you reduced the Anatabloc or discontinued it completely for a while. The benefits you have achieved are to important to you to second guess the continued benefits for you and to risk a setback doesn’t make sense to me. I expect the documented science will surface in the future that will agree with your findings, IMHO.
You could be an excellent ambassador for and to other folks with
CHEILITIS GRANULOMATOSA that have never heard of Anatabloc and its potential benefits for their disease. For them to read or hear about your testimony could be a life changing experience for them.
I wish you well and continued good health.
Sorry — follow up ———–
I met to included the comments below:
Along with Joe re: your TSH, I would really be interested to hear what your upcoming readings are for “Highly Sensitive C-reactive Protein” C-RP test. Optimum Levels are :
Below 1.3 mg/L of blood is safe
Below .5 mg/L of blood is ideal.
CRP is a measurement of “Chronic Inflammation” in your system.
After taking Anatabine via CigRx and then Anatabloc when it came out, my last CRP measurement was .1 mg/L.
GLTA
Joe, for me I was at my lowest point ever in my life since the hip replacement in late 2010…I have had OA and Fibro for mega yrs. but this replacement pushed me into a totally new pain world…talk about inflammation….
I hear you about trying everything you review…..take care. There are MANY many in mega pain out there and many take so many drugs with horrible side effects….
Joy, I hear ya. Glad its helping you. I’m hoping that the research bears out what you and others are saying.
The contents of their internet ad which arrived today, along with your online observations regarding vague location of their business, the extraordinary claims made in the absence of controlled human studies, and the fact that it is apparently marketed as a food supplement (probably to avoid the need to demonstrate scientific evidence of efficacy) all suggest that these guys are a bunch of scammers who may or may not have valuable product.
The only thing they have not done to discredit themselves further is to resort to ‘multilevel’ marketing.
Good work!
Robert Barker
I heard of Anatabloc from my husband who was told about it in the golf arena. I have bursitis in my left hip. I decided to try Anatabloc despite the price tag since the pain in my hip was so bad that I could not sleep at night.
My doctor had said that the only thing I could do was to “manage the pain” and suggested constant prescription strengths of ibuprofen. After taking this for 3 days…I was almost pain free. I fall asleep at night and I can lay on that hip for about a half an hour at a time now and before could not last 15 seconds on it.
I am in NO WAY associated with any the Anatabloc company and I despise tobacco companies and the fact that it was produced by one….did disappoint me….and I did do my research first. I decided to try it……it is working. It is the first thing I have found that works for this type of pain. For what it’s worth….a bottle lasts me a little over a month….. the lack of pain is well worth it.
Sherry, for what its worth I hear Star Scientific is getting out of the tobacco business. I’d also mention that drugs or anatabloc, both are only managing your pain, as your doctor mentioned. I’m not aware of any evidence – so far – that proves anatabloc repairs the damage. We will all just have to wait and see what research they publish on this.
Thanks Joe-
I agree……I am not sure why the pain is better, but I’ll take it for now!
Joe, As I’ve written on your Board before, I’m not a stockholder or have any interest in “A” other than it seems to help me lessen pain. I’m only in my 4th month but still see results.Currently losing weight so should be able to drop to 10 per day vs current 12 per day which would save me some money. As a 70 year old, money saved is a bonus. The scandal with the Virginia Governor is probably not going to help the Company and could cause severe consequences.
Jay, thanks, yes I’ve also been reading about the VA governor and anatabloc. Time will tell.
It’s a great mystery, TO ME, about Star Scientific and I only HOPE the product will be around and it would be nice to see a reduction in price….Joe, for people to know if it “works” for their chronic pain issues and for me, my stuff was horrible, is they have to give it a try.
I have been using Anatabloc for 2 weeks now. This winter my joints caused me extreme sharp pain …. I was taking anywhere from 3 to 5 liquid Aleve pills a day just so I could be free of the heavy, sharp pain. Within 36 hours of taking Anatabloc the sharp pain in knees GONE; and as of yesterday the sharp pain upon lifing my legs up just to get dressed is now GONE ALSO. I will say that my leg muscles still are tight and need ‘therapy’, but the PAIN IS GONE.
I learned of the product from Fred Couples’ ad; went to GNC store and was told it is a very popular. Went on Anatabloc’s web site and decided to give it a try; they guaranteed I could stop the automatic shipment of the product ‘at any time’………….
I would recommend this product to ANYONE who suffers such joint pain.
I will also admit I have not been to see my physician for any of this pain, thinking arthritic pain is just that and except for drugs the physician couldn’t help anyway.
After years of using prescription drugs (with minimal relief) for arthritis pain, which resulted in bleeding ulcers, I tried Anatabloc. 3 weeks of dissolving 2 tablets 3 times a day has convinced me. I had debilitating thumb joint pain for years with minimal results from the prescription drugs. Now I am almost pain free with an incredible range of motion. My hips and knees also are pain free.
There was a human study in Florida which ended in January. The results are not posted yet. Based on the side effects of the prescriptions I have taken (stroke, heart attack stomach bleeds etc.) I’m willing to continue to take it until I find results with negative sided effects. I paid 79.99 at GNC and over 160.00 for the useless prescriptions. I’m keeping an eye out for the human study results.
Dorothy, amen…I ended up in the ER in the early 80’s from a pharma drug for inflammation, so I know that one…so for me, going into my 4th month, anatabloc is where it’s at for this body and MIND…..
Dorothy..do you know where in Florida the research was done?
Who conducted the study? Where did you hear or read this?
Dorothy, If you go to Anatabloc directly they have a “”special” offer whereby if you get it delivered to you automatically every month, the price [for the lozenges] is $59.00/month.
I think the better “deal” is the 300 loz of the unflavored for $80 vs 200 flavored at $60. Just my opinion on this, I don’t like the flavored loz.
Joy, Where did you get the 300 for $80? I would prefer unflavored also, but at the time, Anatabloc said the deal was only for the flavored ones. Thanks.
I get the 300 unflavored from Rock Creek and also buy the 300 unflavored from Lucky Vitamin both for $80….I buy for my daughter too so I use both sources….the flavored were the FIRST as I understand and have sucrolose in them which I prefer NOT to ingest…..
Judith, I buy from Rock Creek and Lucky Vitamin both for $80 for 300 unflavored (rock creek is parent company) or producer or whatever they are….I buy for my daughter too so I use both sources…I don’t like the flavored as they are laced with sucralose….
I see it now on their website. I wonder if you can ask them to send it with a longer timespan than 30 days because it’s way more than I use in a month
I deal with Curtis at 800 391-9164 to manage my shipments, BUT you can just buy from Lucky and manage your own shipments….just give it enough delivery time which can be 4-5 days….or more…
I just checked with Anatabloc and they say that the unflavored has to be swallowed rather than dissolved under the tongue. I have a temperamental stomach and would rather not swallow it, as it might cause reactions. Plus, from what I’ve read, medications dissolved under the tongue go directly to the bloodstream rather than through the stomach where stomach acids would reduce the effectiveness.
Judith, that is BAD info from “them” I take the unflavored NEW ones per se and let it dissolve under my tongue going on 6 months now…don’t believe that wrong info. I think it says right on the bottle, dissolve under tongue… The right hand doesn’t know what to tell the left hand….dissolve away….
I’m looking at the flyer of Fred Couples that comes in the shipment and it was place 2 loz in mouth dissolve and swallow….while it’s dissolving we are swallowing…geeezzz….
I’ve NEVER just swallowed the loz while, always have let them dissolve…
I’ve posted 2 replies to Judith and they are not coming up….DISSOLVE the loz plain and simple…they are giving out wrong info.
Patience Joy 🙂
Hi, Joy;I’ve gotten your later posts but for some reason they don’t have the “reply” option. I will ask them to change to the unflavored, because I don’t like having the sucralose either. I will ask if they can extend the delivery from a month more like 6 weeks since otherwise the 300 is more than I can use in a month. Thanks for the info!
I searched on PubMed/Medline and the only new study I found was one about a new ay of measuring anatabine. Nothing involving human clinical trials.

Joe, Yes whole foods are better but many people eat fast food and don’t get the vitamins they need. Anatabloc is a supplement that works for some people in areas such as anti inflammation but doesn’t work for everyone. So far it’s helping me even though at a high expense. I wish I could find something cheaper with the same results but so far no luck. By the way, I have lost some weight, quite easily, so I can reduce “A” to 10 per day vs 12.
Interesting,
Having been on Anatabloc for five months, only recently upping the dosage as recommended, I have seen several benefits to date.
I have had issues with swollen ankles after standing for hours at events I attend, or walking for more than a few miles, and it was consistent. Well, not anymore, and I have pushed myself just to verify that the swelling is no longer an issue. So this was my first benefit which I was able to verify.
I also had bad knee from old motorcycle accident which would act up whenever I pushed myself, and I always knew when it was about to storm well ahead of weather reports for my knee would start hurting. No more pain, even after a run which I had not been able to do in decades without paying for it with pain for days. So this was my second benefit realized.
Now here is where it gets interesting, I have had ongoing issue with inflammed gums which would act up every other month even after having a root canal which was suspected to be causing a decade of pain, to no avail, it continued for years after root canal. Granted, I do have receding gums which were also treated, but nothing helped with the swollen gums which would act up on regular basis every other month.
I have not had this annoying pain for over four months now, in fact, my gums have never looked better, and I swear my receding gums are getting better, but I didn’t connect the dots to Anatabloc until hearing it benefits gum disease recently, so it is not a case of placebo effect in my case, and as a skeptic on supplements to start, I am becoming a true believer based on personal results.
Now here is the next benefit, which again I did not know would impact weightloss when I started. I was only focused on my swollen ankle and knee pain issues. Having just read some posts on those who are losing weight, it got my attention for I have mysteriously dropped 18 lbs. which was near impossible for me in the past having tried every method and product known to lose weight. So is it Antabloc, I don’t know, but I have not been doing anything more than I was over the past four months, in fact, even less do to work load, so I have not been exercising as much as I would have been doing if not so busy at computer. So is this an aid to weight loss, who knows, but having tried to drop 20 lbs. for decades, this was a shock.
Good health to all, Mike
Mike,
My dentist and hygienist were so impressed with the improvement in my gums that everyone in that office takes Anatabloc now. My dentist is sort of a ‘large’ guy and raves now over how much better his knees feel.
Wow, i too used to have Gum flare ups constantly, like every week. Since i have been on Anatabloc ( only 1 pill a day) since October 2012 my gums have never flared up since. And my last checkup my dentist said my gums looked remarkably healthy. My prior check-up i was told i needed Gum graft surgery. No kidding Joe, this cant be a placebo effect.
Update:
Well, having just returned from vacation hitting every theme park with full 12 hour plus days, ten days in a row, mostly standing and walking, not a hint of swollen ankles which had plagued me for over a decade. As a skeptic, this was the unconditional proof I needed that I no longer have swollen ankle issues, thank God, it was a real pain for years and I could not even put shoes or boots on once my ankles swelled up for days.
Went to dentist, and got a great review on what was advanced gum disease which they said treatment of $45.00 per tooth would slow periodontal disease, and now, no need to waste hundreds of dollars which more than covers cost of anatabloc for several months. No more swollen and infected gum issues since using anatabloc, so I am more impressed than ever with product results.
We all know inflamation is the enemy of good health, and as one who has tried every product out there, most did not work as promoted. Having seen my blood pressure rise consistently over the past several years, I started taking every supplement known to reduce blood pressure knowing I wouldn’t touch any drugs, and I am glad I discovered anatabloc for it too appears to be answer to high blood pressure for me as well much to my surprise given I didn’t know this would help, so no placebo effect as I see it for this was unexpected result.
Just to clarify, I take zero drugs, not even aspirin or similar pain medicines, and I plan to keep it that way, so for those who always listen to their doctors advice, wake up, you might just save your life. My father died of heart attack when I was just 16, and I remember it like yesterday, so knowing I might have heart issues too, I monitor blood pressure weekly. Having just returned from vacation, I was shocked at todays blood pressure reading, 107/72 whereby I was constantly in 140/90 plus range for months prior to anatabloc. I have never had reading this low since beginning to check regularily. We all know the hugh cost of blood pressure pills, so given all the money I have saved, I don’t see how anyone can complain about $69.00 a month or less depending on consumption. I am only taking two in morning and two at night, so my bottle of 300 lasts for over two months now.
Good health to all,
Mike, you are VERY fortunate that it works so well with so small dose….what can I say…We are all diff and I take 8 and still deal with lots of OA mess….I do a lot of things for this almost 75 yr old bode……
Mike what dosage are you taking now since you said you recently upped your dosage?
I started with just two for first couple weeks to see if there was any adverse effects, none, no nothing, so I went with two tablets three times a day for first month, and I did notice results I was looking for, so since then, I dropped back to two tablets twice a day as I am cheap. lol Seriously, I got my initial results and wanted to see if I saw any difference dropping back to two twice a day, and I am seeing same results, no swollen ankles, and all the other benefits, so I will stay with two twice a day as I saw more positive results than expected.
Good health to all,
Oh, it’s more than just all that…it’s the alkaloids from these foods which are nightshades which many people avoid, me for one, and the tobacco element in this “science” of this supp. Somehow it works for many who take it….I’m not into eating lbs of nightshade foods…read the science of Anatabine.
All the nightshade plants have atropine, concentrates are best left alone. Anatabloc is not atropine. Totally different.
It is true that some people are sensitive to nightshade plants and should avoid them. But the point of this blog is that the science is lacking at this time. I am happy for the folks that have found relief from their chronic pain while on this supplement, but people need to be clear that the evidence of efficacy in humans is circumstantial or a leap of faith at best.
What else is there but human circumstances, I took the Leap of Faith and I’m taking less advil, sleeping a good long stretch, waking up in NO PAIN, and as I approach my 4th month, finding I’m taking even less of the lessened advil I was taking for yrs prior….Humans are the best evidence and our circumstancs of what we are experiencing is what it is…I’ve tried mega other anti inflammatories, a pharma one put me in the ER in the 80’s, so I avoid pharma drugs at all costs to my body…and mind…
I also “too the leap of faith” because I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis(the autoimmune version of hypothyroidism). The studies showed that anatabine eliminated the antibodies, so I just wanted to see what would happen since my 6 month labs were due in 3 months from when I started the Anatabloc. Previously, taking levothyroxine, my antibodies had dropped and last May, they were 32;in November they were 36. I just had my new labs, and the antibodies are showing >1.0 iu/ml, i.e. NEGATIVE. I don’t think this is coincidental and am going to experiment myself by not taking the levothyroxine for 6 months until my next labs, using only the Anatabloc to see if the antibodies stay at >1.0. If they do, then I will know that it works and if they soar, then obviously it doesn’t. Incidentally, at the same time, my total cholesterol went from 211 to 186;my triglycerides from 118 to 98, my HDL from 59 to 68..the ldl was more or less the same, from 99 to 98.
Also, my overall pain from fibromyalgia has been greatly reduced.
I’d prefer to be able to use it rather than taking levothyroxine for the rest of my life. My mother and brother both had consequences when they were in their 70’s.
Judith, I commend you on your scientific curiosity but it’s sad that you have to do the research on yourself. I also have been intrigued by the preliminary research of anatabloc on the thyroid but I’d urge you not to stop your thyroid meds for 6 months.
Jody You would have to consume well over $ 100 of “eggplants, tomatoes, peppers, etc to derive the same amount of anatabine in a bottle of Anatabloc.
People purchase Anatabloc for $ 80 bottle from GNC for 300 or $.27 pill. So based upon weight of 120 pounds this would be 6 or $ 1.62 day or over 220 would be 12 or $3.24 a day. Both below the cost of a single Starbucks coffee a day.
Adamr826, but if they ate the food, they would get a broader spectrum of nutrients. There is more to those foods than anatabine.
Joe,
No question there’s a broader spectrum of nutrients and calories in those foods. However one would have to eat a mountain of them to get the same amount of anatabine citrate in just one lozenge of Anatabloc. I think you knew that and yet, well, I don’t know why you wouldn’t spell that out.
Tom S, I was not saying that foods would provide the same levels of anatabine. I understand anatabloc is more concentrated. I mentioned it because the big picture is not just about anatabine and the foods Im thinking of dont have a lot of calories – fruits and veggies.
Joe, I appreciate an understand your opinion. Unfortunately, the majority of Americans do not follow this type of diet. That said, even if they did, I seriously doubt they would get the same benefits that Anatabloc provides to people suffering all sorts of inflammation related illnesses. I am a perfect example . I am fit and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. But, I still suffer from allergies and arthritis. Both of which have been eliminated by Anatabloc.
Bill, thanks for writing. Ive heard a few others mention about anatabloc and allergies. this would be a pretty easy study to test. Ill look forward to reading it if it is ever done. glad its helping you.
Joe, if you never try anatabloc, how will you ever know For You…sounds like you are pain free. I am not on anatabloc for allergies, as my many yrs on grape seed ex pretty cured that issue for me…I have no asthma but I’m sure it would help with those asthma as that is inflammatory….
HI Joy, Honestly If I tried everything I reviewed, I’d go bankrupt buying it all! I don’t have a lot of the pain issues that many others seem to be experiencing so if I tried it and I felt no relief from Anatabloc, then people might not believe me. Or if I said “it was great” others might not believe me either. What I experience would only be a testimonial. The internet is full of testimonials and while they can offer some information, I prefer to look only at the science.
Can’t you just EAT eggplants, tomatoes, peppers, etc.? Eating healthy strengthens the immune system, I don’t think anyone would debate that. I can buy a fair amount of healthy food for $100!
