The name of this supplement gives the impression the supplement is proven to work? It's a genius, eye-catching name and right up there with the It Works supplement brand.

There is a video on the supplement's website. It's over 1 hour long. The video begins with a screaming woman falling down steps, which is VERY disturbing and loud if you have your speaker volume turned up. Here is the video.

The person speaking in the video is not named but tells the story of how he started searching for a cure for his wife's obesity and how he discovered the answer.  The answer was found in a monastery in Tibet. It was said the monks in Tibet drank a tea that warded off all disease. Since the tea tasted bad, it was used to make the ProVen pills.

 

How's It Supposed To Work?

Despite the claim to make you a fat-burning machine, this is not a fat burner supplement. It's also not an appetite suppressant. In the ProVen video, the person speaking describes how obesity, is supposed to be caused by toxins like Bisphenol A (BPA), found in plastics, which disrupts hunger hormones, like ghrelin and leptin causing us to gain weight. They call these toxic chemicals Obesogens. The ingredients in ProVen are supposed to flush the obesogen toxins from the body.

On the GetProVen.net website, the company mentions a study they conducted that involved 62 people with different levels of obesity. They said the average weight lost by a person using the supplement was 55 pounds. They further state 95% of people lost over 60 pounds. It looks like it took about 3-6 months to achieve this weight loss.

The study sounds impressive. However, the company does not tell us where the study is published. Is the study published in a medical journal? If it is, the study cannot be located. If the study is not published in a medical journal so it can be scrutinized by other researchers, then it carries less importance.

In a study where researchers gave Graviola to mice, they noted it might help the mice lose weight. But to do this, it took a lot.  For example, if you weighed 200 pounds, the dosage was over 5500 mg. That's more than ProVen contains. Some disturbing research links Graviola to Parkinsons' disease.

Red Raspberry

Like all foods, red raspberries contain hundreds of compounds. One of those compounds is raspberry ketones. Without more information, it is not possible to know why red raspberry is in ProVen. There is some research on raspberry ketones and weight loss but the evidence is weak.

Green Tea

Green tea has been studied to see if it helps people lose weight. Despite its popularity, the research is conflicting. Some studies say it may work and other research finds that green tea does not help weight loss.  Green tea is a healthy drink -as is all tea – but nobody can say if it helps obesity or not.  Because green tea has caffeine it may interfere with sleep if taken too close to bedtime.

Beta Glucan

Beta-glucan is a soluble fiber. Beta-glucan is found in many foods like oatmeal and mushrooms. Like all prebiotic fibers, beta-glucan helps feed our microbiome to help it stay healthy. Beta-glucan can help lower cholesterol too.

Some studies have noted beta-glucans may help weight loss. But, there are several questions unanswered. For example, do beta-glucans from oatmeal work the same way as beta-glucan from barley, mushrooms, or other foods.

Turmeric

In one study, researchers saw no evidence that either turmeric or curcumin reduced body weight in people.  However, in a review of 11 previous studies, researchers noted curcumin helps weight loss if you used a lot of it (about 1000 mg). Arabinogalactan

So the supplement has some vitamin C. That might help if you are deficient in this vitamin. It's possible some of the other ingredients may have immune modulation effects. But does that mean you won't get the flu? Nobody can say for sure. The supplemented video says ProVen is made in the US in a lab that follows good manufacturing practices (GMPs). That's good. Another question to ask is do the ingredients used to make ProVen come from America?
