Can medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) help Alzheimer's disease? Some research says it might. Some consider medical researchers to consider Alzheimer's disease to be a form of diabetes (type 3 diabetes). Evidence suggests the disease may be caused by insulin resistance in the brain. If brain cells can't use glucose, might giving them another fuel source – ketones, help brain cells work better – and improve memory in the process? Some research says yes. - Start with less at first to see if you have any side effects
- Ask your doctor first if you take any medications
- MCTs have a good amount of saturated fats. Monitor cholesterol levels.
- Consider mixing MCTs with Ensure or food to improve the taste
