Update 1/20/20. ZXT Gold is one of the hottest selling natural weight loss supplements on the web and If I'm any barometer, it also generates a lot of questions too. I've also heard of some strange side effects which got my attention. Does ZXT Gold work? I want to not only review ZXT Gold but look at it in relation to other ZXT supplements. Hopefully, this ZXT Gold review will answer some of peoples questions. Also, see the review of Slim Trim U bee pollen supplements that also compares ZXT Gold's ingredients to the ingredients in Slim Trim U. Update: The FDA has found this product contained illegal weight-loss drugs. See this FDA report for more info.
Who Sells ZXT Gold?
ZXT Gold is sold by Floyd Nutrition. Floyd Nutrition has the following websites:
- FloydNutrition.com
- FloydNutrition.net
- PlatinumBodySlim.com
- Ayurvedic-Solutions.com
When I first heard of Floyd Nutrition, I thought it was a physical store—like a GNC or local health food store. It's not. The contact page of FloydNutrition.com lists a PO Box in Harrisburg PA as their address.
While it looks like Floyd Nutrition does most of their business online via their websites or by phone orders, I did some digging and discovered that they have a warehouse located at 1800 State Street in Harrisburg PA.
Products sold on their website can be purchased at their warehouse if you go there. Floyd Nutrition doesn't make the supplements themselves. Companies in other countries and the US do. This is true for many health food stores too.

ZXT Gold Ingredients
Update: 7/25/12. Thanks to “Beth” one of the readers on this site, I became aware that Canadian health authorities have identified 2 hidden drugs in ZXT Gold. The drugs they found are:
- Sibutramine – a banned weight-loss drug linked to heart problems. It is also called Meridia.
- Phenolphthalein – a laxative that is no longer used in Canada because it may cause cancer. For more info see the Phenolphthalein Wikipedia page.
Here is the FDA report dated April 15 2015
Here is the Health Canada update on ZXT Gold dated June 29 2012.
According to the Floyd Nutrition website, ZXT Gold is composed of these ingredients:
- Bee pollen
- Chinese yam
- Green tea
- lotus seed
- Dietary fiber
Here's the thing that makes me scratch my head about ZXT Gold —its ingredients are almost identical to the first 5 ingredients in the weight loss pill, Zi Xiu Tang. With the exception of green tea— in ZXT Gold —replacing barbary wolfberry fruit in Zi Xiu Tang, they look identical to me.
I can't tell how much of each ingredient is in ZXT Gold, so I concede there may be differences in the amounts of ingredients between ZXT Gold and Zi Xiu Tang as well as other ZXT supplements.
Here is the other thing about ZXT Gold that seems odd to me. Floyd Nutrition lists several other weight loss pills—and their ingredients— on their website, such as ZXT, ZXT Slim etc. I've copied the table below as it appeared on their website.
Notice how all 4 of these supplements appear to have almost the same ingredients.
ZXT | ZXT Gold | ZXT Slim | Infinity
Ingredients | Bee pollen | Bee pollen | Bee pollen | Bee pollen |
Chinese yam | Chinese yam | Chinese yam | Chinese yam
Green tea | Green tea | Barberry wolfberry fruit | Barberry wolfberry fruit
Lotus seed | Lotus seed | Lotus seed | Lotus seed
Dietary fiber | Dietary fiber | Dietary fiber | Dietary fiber
Dosage | 2 capsules/day | 2 capsules/day | 2 capsules/day | 1 capsule /day |
Energy | Moderate/strong | Strong | Extra strength | Extreme extra strength |
Suppresses appetite | Strong | Very strong | Very strong | Very strong |
Remove toxins | Very strong | Strong | Very strong | Very strong |
Supports the immune system | Yes | Yes | Yes | yes |
See results in 1st week | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
adapted from floydnutrition.com
All of these products appear to have very similar ingredients. Also, see my review of Slim Trim U for additional comparisons.
I also noticed that most of the products in this table contain the letters ZXT. What do the letters ZXT stand for in ZXT Gold, ZXT Slim, ect? I can't find an answer to this question. I've been told that ZXT Gold, ZXT etc. are different than Zi Xiu Tang. If they are different, why are the letters ZXT in the names of these other products?
The obvious answer I guess would be that the letters ZXT, in the name, is an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of Zi Xiu Tang.
Does anybody have another answer?
I have not tried ZXT Gold so I will wait to read the experiences of others who have. What I can do is cite the research on the ingredients in ZXT Gold. Below is a breakdown of the ingredients and relative research.
Bee Pollen
If you Google “bee pollen weight loss” you see several websites touting the benefits of how bee pollen weight loss pills can improve energy levels and help people lose weight. But, where is the proof?
None of the websites I looked at showed me any published peer-reviewed evidence that bee pollen helps people lose weight. As I did when I reviewed Zi Xiu Tang, I searched Pub Med, a database of millions of studies from around the world and searched for “bee pollen weight loss“— and no studies showed up.
After some further digging, I did locate one small study from 2002 where a bee pollen royal jelly supplement reduced premenopausal weight gain in 29 women. The product used in this study was called Femal. Could this be the basis behind putting bee pollen in weight loss pills?
Tip. reducing the gaining of weight is not the same thing as causing weight loss.
Other than this, I can't find any bee pollen weight loss proof.
Bee pollen has some protein, vitamins, and carbohydrates and that’s nice, but does that mean bee pollen alone peps people up or gives them more energy to get through a tough day? I don't see any studies to back up this claim.
Since I can't find any proof —other than the one small study mentioned above— for now, I don't buy the claim that bee pollen has any special qualities that it promotes weight loss.
If anyone has a study of bee pollen promoting weight loss in humans, please show me and I will gladly update this review.
Chinese Yam
According to its Wikipedia page, Chinese yam can also be called Korean yam and nagaimo. This makes researching it difficult. Its scientific name is Dioscorea opposita. I searched pub med for studies of:
- “Dioscorea opposita weight loss”
- “Dioscorea opposita body mass index”
- “Dioscorea opposita obesity”
- “Chinese yam weight loss”
- “Chinese yam body mass index”
- “Chinese yam obesity”
I found no research studies on these topics. It looks like nobody has ever thought of seeing Chinese yam works or not.
If that’s really so, what would prompt the makers of ZXT Gold to put it Chinese yam their product?
Yams are often said to be a source of the hormone DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) and there is some evidence that DHEA may help weight loss—at least in older men and women.
While this is interesting, yams do not seem to raise DHEA levels in humans.
There isn't much research on yams and DHEA levels in humans but I'd like to see some proof that it works before I give it credence (college students: this would be a great thesis project to do!)
Green Tea
A LOT of weight loss supplements have green tea. Just a few I've already looked at include:
And several others…
The reason is that green tea has caffeine. People who are more awake might move more and burn more calories. Caffeine also help us burn a little fat.
There is also some research that caffeine might help weight loss. Note in this study, the supplement used contained 150 mg caffeine and 270 mg ECGC (one of the active ingredients in green tea) per day. How much caffeine and ECGC is in ZXT Gold? I can't tell from the product website.
Lotus Seed
Also called Nelumbo nucifera, I can't find any proof this stuff promotes weight loss in either humans or animals. So why is it in ZXT Gold?
Dietary Fiber. This is such a general term that it makes it impossible to know what specific fiber they are referring to. Do they mean soluble fiber or insoluble fiber? They don't tell us.
Looking at the ingredients in ZXT Gold as a whole, these ingredients:
- Chinese yam
- lotus seed
- dietary fiber
all have something in common. They ALL contain fiber. As such, if ZXT Gold really works, I believe it's because it acts primarily as a laxative. This was the same initial conclusion I reached when I reviewed Zi Xiu Tang.
I believe that its laxative effect is primarily responsible for any weight loss seen with ZXT Gold. That is the simplest and most logical answer.
As for bee pollen, I think it's mostly being used as a source of protein. Protein can help with weight loss but how much protein is in ZXT Gold? I don't know, but I suspect it's not much. I think bee pollen is really used because people have been saying amazing —yet unproven—things about it, since I was a kid.
Does ZXT Gold Have Senna?
The Floyd Nutrition website does not list senna as an ingredient in ZXT Gold, however one person who left a comment on my Zi Xiu Tang post on Jan 20, 2012, stated that Floyd Nutrition has added senna back into ZXT Gold. I have no proof to back this up, so its best to call and check for yourself if you are concerned about this. Senna is a strong laxative and one case report linked senna to hepatitis.
I also highlighted that senna was a component in Bob Harpers 7 cleanse supplement.
ZXT Gold Side Effects
See the FDA report for side effects.
Sibutramine is a weight loss drug pulled from the US market because it increased the risk of heart attacks. Phenolphphthalein is linked to cancer.
I believe that diarrhea and/or more frequent trips to the bathroom would be a common side effect of ZXT Gold. In fact, this has been reported by people who have used ZXT Gold who left comments in my post of Zi Xiu Tang Side Effects.
Diarrhea can lead to dehydration and losses of electrolytes, which can cause people to feel tired and weak. It can also lead to irregularities in the way the heartbeats.
By searching the comments left by others at previous posts I've written, I was able to generate this table of possible ZXT Gold side effects:
headache | “weird feeling in head” | diarrhea | depression |
Heart racing | No appetite | constipation | Moodiness |
Speech problems | Very thirsty | Sleeping problems | Nausea |
Increased urination | dry mouth | Cold/warm feelings | Loss of strength |
Vision problems | Frequent urination | Hot flashes | Abdominal pain |
No energy | acne | Elevated blood pressure | Right arm tremor |
Anxiety | Dizziness | Sore ears / weird feeling in ears |
How prevalent these side effects are, I don't know as they came from only a few people who listed what happened to them when they used ZXT Gold.
How Much Water Should You Drink?
Water, water, water is the mantra spoken by many who take —and sell —ZXT Gold as well as other “ZXT” supplements. Of course, water can help with weight loss (it fills us up and has no calories) but, too much water can lead to a potentially deadly condition called hyponatremia (sometimes water intoxication). Essentially people drink so much water that they dilute the salts (electrolytes) in their blood. This can lead to things like:
- headache
- confusion
- nausea
- cramps
- dizziness
- muscle weakness
- fatigue
- seizures
- abnormal heart rates
- coma
- death
Theoretically, hyponatremia might account for some of the reported side effects of ZXT Gold (and Zi Xiu Tang).
So how much water is too much? Well, according to this article in Scientific American magazine, each kidney can excrete 800-1000 milliliters per hour. This equals 27 oz to 33 oz per hour. Since most of us have 2 kidneys this equals 54 to 66 oz fluid per hour.
So, healthy people (who are not exercising) who want to avoid hyponatremia should drink no more than 54 to 66 oz per hour (less during exercise since kidney excretion can decrease).
Fortunately, this is a lot of water to drink, making hyponatremia unlikely in most people. I mention this as a guide to help people when they hear about all the water they should drink if they take ZXT Gold.
Does It Work?
After discovering that the product contained sibutramine and phenolphthalein – both illegal to be used in dietary supplements, I think we know why this product worked. Bee pollen and other ingredients in this product have no evidence it helps weight loss.
What do you think?
Michelle says
I took zxt gold back in 2012 and in one month I lost 20lbs. Lots of trips to the bathroom! I purchased a bottle every month, for a few months, from a distributor. That company is no longer around. About a year ago I tried another brand of bee pollen and it did nothing. I was so disappointed. I’d take the original zxt gold again in a heart beat!
Joe says
Hi Michelle, I’m glad you are ok because because the active ingredient was likely a weight loss drug, linked to heart attacks. For what it’s worth I think you can save your money on bee pollen for weight loss. I still can’t find any evidence it helps people lose weight.
Here is a list of things I believe have some weight loss evidence: http://www.joe-cannon.com/what-weight-loss-supplements-work/
Pamela says
I would like to try this product as well if they ever come back out with it. I used Zi Xiu Tang back in 2013 and whoa was it the best ever. I have low blood pressure naturally so it didn’t affect me with most of the known symptoms. If anyone knows any way to get this product please post!
Joe says
Pamela, Just curious. did you know this stuff had 2 things that were linked to heart attacks and cancer?

I have personally used ZXT Gold Bee Pollen. Originally I was very skeptical due to fact that I first am a RN, two I am diagnosed with ADHD and take Adderall for concentration, and was worried it may excessively exasperate the stimulant affect that could potentially lead into heart issues.
My friend on facebook was trying to loose her first bit of “1st baby weight” and came across this “all natural supplement” and she refereed me to it. She went from 165 to 98 pounds and had to cut her self off for a while to gain some weight back.
With her reassurance I went a head and order ZXT to help loose some weight getting wedding for my wedding. Within the first 3-4 months weight just fell off…I went from 145lb to right at 98lbs, not within 3 months, but after about 6 months of taking this supplement I had never in my life was able to wear a size 2-4. The affect of these supplements for me where not anything other then more energized and I could literally eat anything I put in my mouth.
I was fully aware that it had a laxative affect; so I kept well hydrated during the day. Further more I also continued to exercise as many people would just take this capsule and just think working out was just part of the gig.
I went off of them for some time and then tried them again, and noticed a remarkable odd difference. I took them the same as I always did, 2 capsules in the morning. My weight was not budging, it was just staying there. Then I said to myself maybe my body had plateaued off of them so I tried the Slim ZXT. Once again I took them and their was no affect on my body…I thought maybe the ingredients had changed or something.
I do know in the beginning they did work for me and I did not get any side affects what so ever other then I was more energized, I was loosing weight, feeling great…I even refereed them to my friends and they also got the same amazing results.
I have been off of them for almost a year, I haven’t gained all my weight back but I was going to order them again and noticed that FloydNutrition was no longer owned by the same company.
Joe says
Candy, I didn’t know that Floyd Nutrition changed ownership. Thanks for the heads up. I noticed that site is selling ‘Pure Asian Garcinia.” Here is my review on Garcinia Cambogia for more insights.

I don’t think I deserved to be attacked this way at all. NOT very nice or professional. I was simply sharing my experience. Me and my co-worker both plan to stop taking it, we have reached out goals and are both extremely active people and we eat well, so hopefully we will keep it off. Sorry I shared my opinions. I’ll check back in a bit to let you know if I gained the weight back and if I lived….
AND as I said, we have not experienced any laxative affect, AT ALL. AND I never said the caffeine was making it work. I even typed the pros and cons of our experience. I thought people might be interested. I thought that was what this site was for… My bad.
Your Truly,
Delusional Girl
Joe says
Amanda, I didn’t mean for you to take it as an attack. I appreciate you sharing and believe me I really only want you to be healthy and safe. I don’t know if lack of side effects is enough reason to think all is ok. My frustration is out if my desire for you to be safe.
dizzycat911 says
It’s so sad to see how truly delusional some people really are and how they are ignoring the truth! These pills can cause various health hazards and possibly death and people do not seem to care. I’m shocked!
Amazing how one person responds in a reply by saying ” I eat healthy, ALWAYS. NON GMO and organic and REAL food, NOT processed EVER.” Yet she is putting Sibutramine an illegal weight loss drug and Phenolphthalein a laxative that’s been linked to cancer in her body.
And I must mention the distributors who are still at fault for selling these unhealthy pills, do they have no sense of worth for others lives, knowing very well they are selling pills that are lethal?
I truly wish people would take advice, mull it over, research and study, study, study what you are putting into your body.
The best thing one can do if weight loss is necessary is to consult with physicians, dieticians, personal trainers and health care professionals. Living a healthy life style depends on the individual, it’s a personal thing. Some people can do it, others don’t even come close and the people using this unhealthy supplement are the ones losing out.
Sorry for “venting” Joe……I just get really upset over people who think they are right when the facts displayed prove them very very wrong.
Joe says
Dizzycat, I understand and I appreciate your venting. You echoed some of the same things I was asking myself this morning after reading her reply. At the end of the day, all I can do is try to help. It’s frustrating and confusing sometimes though.
Christa says
Whatever was in the original Asset Bold was an amazing product. Sounds very similiar to the zi xui tang bee pollen. Could be the FDA knew it worked well & are just going to re market it under a name other than Meridia this go round. I don’t trust anything the FDA does. They hide cures for many things because of greed.
Joe says
Christa, with respect, I just can’t believe that.
Christa says
We all have our opinions. I just know what I’ve seen in the lives of people close to me. We each have to make our own choices. No disrespect intended.
Joe says
Christa, I understand, and I wish you well.
Amanda Sabo says
I take ZXT Gold along with 2 of my co-workers and one of my close friends. NONE of us have had any laxative affects. Actually more of the opposite since you don’t even want to eat much. We all have severe dry mouth, but that makes it so we actually drink the amount of water we SHOULD each day, which is, half your body weight in ounces. I did go to college for 4 years for health and wellness promotion.
I do think if you are sensitive to caffeine, that in the beginning, this pill will make you jittery and possibly have an issue sleeping if you don’t take it first thing in the morning. My heart rate is normal, my blood pressure is beyond amazing. I had been working out 5 days a week prior to this pill and had lost 20 pounds. I have now lost another 10, I do still work out 5 days a week, but I know I eat MUCH less. AND I eat healthy, ALWAYS. NON GMO and organic and REAL food, NOT processed EVER.
My co-workers have both lost weight as well and they weren’t heavy to begin with…. I think this pill is safe for a short amount of time. I wouldn’t recommend taking it for more than 4-6 months. Why would you anyway? By that time you should have reached your weight loss goal and gained some self control and know the amount of food you need to eat to live. EAT to LIVE. DON’T LIVE to EAT.
Just remember that. AND I definitely recommend starting with 1 pill a day, not 2. Of course this is all just my opinions since I have been taking it for 3 months now. Yours Truly, Amanda Sabo
Joe says
Amanda, I dont think its working because of the caffeine. Did you see the link I provided on the Canadians finding 2 drugs in zxt gold? They found Sibutramine an illegal weight loss drug and Phenolphthalein a laxative that’s been linked to cancer.
Here is the link http://www.healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/hc-sc/2012/15014a-eng.php
Based on this I dont think we can say zxt gold is safe. I have no idea what is in the product you are using but I believe you should stop taking it.
melissa jones says
I have been on zxt for about a year great weight loss,But lately it does not seem like its working as good as it used to ,can you get immuned to them after being on them a long time?
Joe says
Melissa, I dont think you can become immune to it. My opinion is other things are happening that dont have anything to do with you.
Kate says
This article, that you clearly spent a lot of time on, is completly discredited by using Wikipedia as a source.
Joe says
Kate, with all respect, that’s poppycock. My zxt gold review has 20 links in it – and only 2 are from Wikipedia and those are only for background purposes and are not critical to the outcomes of the review.
Can you show me something in those Wikipedia links that is wrong?
Did you miss my several links to peer reviewed studies at listed in national library of medicine?
How about my link to Scientific American?
How about the Canadian Government site that shows their findings about ZXT Gold?
If this is the only thing you can criticize me on, then I wont say more. I’ll just wish you well and hope you find the answers you seek somewhere.
Anna says
People just don’t want to hear the truth, Joe. They want to use these supplements to lose weight because it’s easy regardless of the consequence. When in reality, we all just need to lead a healthier life. I had a very horrible experience with one of these supplements and am proud to say I made it through. I have been working out and eating healthy for 3 months and have lost 26 lbs. And I FEEL GOOD! That’s what matters.
Joe says
Anna, Thanks and I know. Its sad. I’m REALLY glad you are doing so well – and that is fantastic that you lost 26 pounds! Congratulations !!! 🙂
Journey says
Yikes – Just started ZXT Gold did not have all of this information. I ordered the trial package so not much of a loss financially, however, did I read correctly that these pills contain ingredients that can cause cancer and or heart problems? I suppose this study is based on long term use?
Joe says
Journey, I linked to a 2012 report from Canada Health authority where they found that ZXT Gold had an ingredient – not listed on the label – that was linked to cancer. Here is the link so you can see more info http://www.healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/hc-sc/2012/15014a-eng.php The heart problems may be due to another hidden ingredient called sibutramine, which was a weight loss drug. I dont know if these things are in all batches of the product or even if they are still in it or not.
sarge says
My wife is a distributor of bee pollen and ZXT along with Floyd other products. bottom line is I can show u weight loss from many of our customers.. I have some that has lost close to 80 pounds on slim trim u and infinity. As for health problem and not being safe.. WHAT IS SAFE THESE DAYS.
I am sure if I too the time to research your product would not find any more proof of how safe it is and long term effects. To me all this site is a tactic to defer someone from purchasing Floyd nutrition and to purchase there product.. One thing I can say to this is,,,,, I don’t see Floyd Nutrition bashing this product,,, think that is enough said there. know that I think about sounds like a company is a little scared of a little challenge
Joe says
Sarge, really… “What is safe these days.” Wow. I just dont know how to reply that. I’ll let your words stand as they are for those to take in.
ldman says
I feel I should post to this site my experience with Floyd Nutrition and another similar so called “natural weight loss” internet company. Please, please do not buy these products. I have had first hand experience with very negative side affects to these unregulated products made overseas which led me to have some products privately tested by a reputable U.S. lab. The money for the testing was worth it.
I immediately pulled all these products off my shelves. If the products cause dry mouth, racing heart, sleep difficulties, lack of appetite, you can bet they contain a banned substance. If the product doesn’t contain a banned substance, you can bet that they won’t work.
I have done extensive research into how this type of product gets into the U.S. and it isn’t difficult for Chinese or Japanese companies to not document some ingredients. Please be aware that sibutremine and other such appetite suppressant chemicals are not banned in such foreign markets. So products like ZiXiuTang for example are very popular in the foreign market with many foreign middlemen distributing to the U.S.
So people wanting to make money set up an internet site, then go thru the net to connect to a foreign seller and place an order. They can then have the whole thing handled by an on line “broker” to take care of payment and paperwork. They can send a picture of what they want the bottle to look like and what ingredients they want printed on the back.
This is how these companies can continue in business if one of their products tests positive for a banned ingredient. Change name of product, change the label, back in business. The only difference between products sold by the same company is the amount of each ingredient and the strength of the banned substance.
People should be aware that the FDA isn’t kidding when they say that the danger of increased blood pressure is VERY real.
Joe says
ldman, thanks for writing. you said you had the products removed from your shelves. what kind of business do you run? are you a pharmacist or run a pharmacy? Did you stock floyd nutrition products in your store (I didnt know stores carried it)? Just curious.
ldman says
Anyone can distribute products from Floyd. In fact Floyd as well as other such LLC’s depend on their customers to spread the word. If u buy in large quantities thru their hierarchy, you can receive a large price break, which encourages resale, which they want you to do so that people will go to Floyds web site to reorder from info which is plastered all over their box and bottles.
Its a proven form of successful marketing, avoiding advertising costs and also allows the company to expand slowly with demand rather than put up huge amounts of up front money for advertising. It also keeps them out of the vision of mass media as they grow and refine their product line.
Many such “grass roots” companies eventually expand to foreign markets where regulation is not as restrictive as the U.S.or non existent. The store you wish to know about deals with cosmetology/beauty. The FDA makes retailers and even wholesalers responsible for what what they distribute, which is why I tested.
Those who dont care about this only their bucks ignore the FDA since they rarely prosecute. I cared. As long as the FDA relies on consumers to test and report this will be a problem. A very dangerous one.
Basically the FDA puts out a warning about dietary supplements and then its buyer beware. But as long as the public remains uninformed and are desperate to lose weight and clamour for a quick fix to their weight problems there will always be people ready and willing to give them what they want claiming that the doctors and pharmaceutical industries get rich from doing this very thing, why shouldn’t they.
I can’t help but agree, however, people have a right to know if any potentially harmful ingredients are in the supplements they take. That is why we have the FDA. If people are desperate to lose weight they will try most anything.
The danger of elevated blood pressure poses very real health risks to obese Americans.
Joe says
ldman, that’s all really interesting. Thanks for the education.
Curious teenager says
Hello Joe,
I am currently just looking around the internet for fun. I would love to lose 20lbs before summer! Even sooner than that. I would love to find a pill that maybe I could take that YOU believe works and is worth any side-effects.
I read All your reviews on this Gold Pill and Slim U and the other pill like the Gold pill. Are there any you recommend?
The Slim Trim PM has a free 30 day trial and if it doesn’t work you can call them and cancel it. That seemed pretty cool to me. I am 18 so I’m not educated on any of this stuff. So you do NOT recommend taking that pill! I shouldn’t even try the free trial? The side effects did scare me but I am 18 and not overweight. I weigh 150 but would love to
Get back into 125 zone.
Is there anything I can take that you recommend? Your research seems very well put together with lots of facts supporting it. If you could let me know ASAP that would be Great. I just don’t know what to listen to. And I do not want to FALL for any of these pills..
Thank you.
Joe says
Curious Teenager, when you are searching for weight loss supplements, one of my rules of thumb is to not pay attention to any supplement that talks about the “power” of bee pollen. been pollen doesn’t do anything for weight loss.
Also, generally I recommend to stay away of any supplement that has Chinese writing on it or even remotely looks like it comes from china, Asia etc and I say this because of what has been found in similar products (hidden wt loss drugs not listed on the labels). I’m sure there are lots of them that dont have any weird ingredients like this, but I feel its safest to just group them all together and bypass all of them until we know more. I have not yet looked at Slim Trim PM (I might after this…) but if you look at its ingredients and it has a lot of similar stuff as Slim Trim U or other ZXT/ zi xiu tang supplements Ive reviewed here, then I’d say save your money.
Having looked at a LOT of supplements, I’ve seen that many come with a free trial. To get the free trial, you probably will have to give them a credit card and be entered into an autoship program where they automatically send you the product each month. If you do a free trial, read the fine print which is at the bottom of the website, usually in the “Terms and Conditions Page” because this is where they will tell you the details of how and when you need to cancel. Also the free trial often means you sill have to pay shipping and handling.
Here is a link to my personal website where I list the different types of weight loss supplements, and my thoughts on which might work the best: http://www.joe-cannon.com/what-weight-loss-supplements-work/
I also want you to do some exercise because this will help you keep your muscle. You may have learned this in health class but just in case you didn’t, when people only go on a diet and dont exercise they lose muscle fibers in addition to fat. This is bad because when you lose muscle fibers they do not ever come back. You can only build the muscle fiber you have left.
You are only 18 years old now but one day you will be 88 and when that day happens, things will be harder to do and you will need all the muscle you have. Build muscle now so that when you are 88 – or older – you will be better able to take care of yourself and your family. Trust me.
I hope some of this helps. If you have any other questions just ask and I will try to help 🙂
Anna says
I’m telling you..I know this is so cliche’ but it really is true..just do it the healthy way! I have been working out and eating healthy for 3 months and have lost 28 lbs now! I use an app called lose it…I use the free version and it really helps you stay below a certain intake without dieting! And there are several apps that show u good home workouts ..one being Fitness Buddy and even Pinterest has good material! I have lost more than any other supplement would have allowed and you can really see it! It isn’t just water weight! I’m losing weight and building muscle and considering you are a teenager that’s what you need! At 27, I feel better than ever!
Anna says
Idman, there is a product I am leery of and have spoken my mind about it and have dealt with a lot of backlash from a friend who sells this product. Anyway you could you help me find a way to test this product and prove my theory correct? I believe it contains sibutramine.
Joe says
Anna, what is the name of the product?
Anna says
Asset Bold…it’s been mentioned already in this forum. I had a very severe reaction to it and was on the verge of suicide because it was so bad. I’m so worried this will happen to someone else. I’m very lucky I made it through and am now back to feeling like myself.
Joe says
Anna, really glad you are feeling better! I cant imagine what that must have felt like but I am happy you came though it all. I hope you have a fantastic Christmas 🙂

Went to a meeting regarding electro magnetic therapy and met a woman who has been on ZXT for six months. She was also selling the product. She was having severe hot flashes and her heart rate was 108. I thought this peculiar and researched a little and also found this site. She also said she had to drink a lot of water and her mouth was very dry. She had lost 35 pounds.
Very concerned says
I have taken ztx off and on for about a year only side affects I have had was dry mouth and small cramps if I eat sweets. I have lost 30 pounds the first 2 months and I stopped gain back 10 due to holiday. This was 2012 at the end the year. On march of this year I purchased a bottle from a distributor it didn’t seem to work the same she told me to drink more water it is the key so I did since then I have lost 10 more pounds.
I feel this will be my last bottle due to what I have read today and the bottles from Floyd vitamin dose not have the real stamp on the bottle just not sure any more. Thanks for all the information.

Hey Joe,
Have you seen this? I recently came across this while Google searching. What do you think?
I’ve only heard of these pills because my cousin has become a distributor of the products, and although she has lost weight, I am concerned about her health.

DejaP can you give me the name of the product. I try not to download pdf files as they may contain viruses.

Joe,
Nice research. I Thank you and appreciate all the time you took to enlighten me about this product. My daughter is 26 years old and started taking this product about a year ago, off and on. She has since started taking it again. She did get some results, I was skeptical. So….. I did my home work and found you.
I almost, in a very rare insane moment, considered taking ZXT GOLD to loss a few Menopausal pounds. Thank Goodness I came to my senses. Upon reading YOUR review and researching deeper into this unknown (Vitamin/diet suppressant/weight loss miracle) know as ZXT GOLD I was horrified and shocked that people in this day and age by into this awful pill at all.
Yes maybe it works, maybe is does not, but…. at what cost. In the age of better nutrition, more health conscious adults, gyms on almost every corner, (not to mention how in inexpensive the memberships have become), and better knowledge of our bodies and greater health care awareness, you would think pills like this would be almost void in our lives.
I have tried talking my 26 year old out of taking them. But with her love for her bikini, well you know how that is going. I hope she rethinks the situation when summer ends. One can only hope.
I, for one, will NOT be partaking in this craziness. I have researched the ingredients Sibutramine & Phenolphthalein…..Okay, that was enough for me!
Also, Chinese herbal medicines should be respected and researched as well. One must understand, The Chinese have had these Herbs around for Thousands of years and have it down to a science. It is NO JOKE and should be treated seriously. Many of these Herbs interact with medication being taken for other health problems and could cause serious problems if not taken correctly.

I for one will just stick to “the old fashion” way and drop the few pounds I have gained by using common sense when it comes to nutrition, exercise, and self love of my body which will forbid me to do harm to it.
It’s funny…in a society that will not feed their dogs food or treats that may harm them are the same people that will put these diet pills in their own system and not give a thought how they are damaging their bodies. It’s just not normal.
Wish me luck as I work on my daughter and thanks again for your insight on this unnecessary and possibly very dangerous pill.
Joe says
Loretta, Happy I was able to help and luck sent with your daughter too. That’s very good insight into dogs and treats too!
Valla says
I have used the zxt gold bee pollen pills as well as a couple others and I guess I will be the first person on here to say that honestly when I started taking the zxt gold I weighed in at 235 lbs and a size 16 pant size, after 6 months I was down about 65-70 lbs and to a size 12 pant size now just a little over a year of taking bee pollen pills I have dropped to 155 lbs and I am in a size 9/10 pants
Joe says
Valla, congrats on your weight loss!! 🙂
DeAnna says
I lost 40 pounds in 4 months on the zxt gold in 2011 without any complications .. I went from 160 to 120 .. I have had another baby and the zxt gold is not working like it used to..
Amber says
I fell for this scam AGAIN. Last year, I started taking zi xiu bee pollen pills. I did lose 10lbs, but I had constant dry mouth, rapid heart rate, insomnia, teeth grinding..it was awful. I stopped taking them after I found out they were recalled due to the illegal ingredients. Well, I gained back those 10lbs, and the same friend that recommended those pills, told me about Asset Bold. It took me 4 days to put things together, after I had to force myself to eat like I did with the other pills. Low and behold, I found out its the same company. Tell everyone! They have different variations of this Asset diet pill.
Joe says
Amber, thanks and sorry you went through all that. I’ve never heard of Asset diet pills. As a rule, I would skeptical of any weight loss pill that claims special weight loss powers due to bee pollen.
Rachel says
The company that owns Asset is different from Floyd. I am not sure where you got your information, but my friend sells for Asset. I’ve asked her, and she has reassured me that they are owned by 2 completely different people. She also says she would never sell anything from Floyd. She cares deeply for her clients, and she always tells them to consult their doctor.
I’ve even known her to refuse to sell to someone with many health problems before they got the all clear from their doctor. She also is very stern on her clients to make healthier changes in their lives using these to help them not do it for them. Those that sell these products as a fix all are the ones that give it a bad name. I just think anyone buying these supplements should actually talk to the person selling them.
There are too many people getting into selling them to make a quick buck, and not selling them to help change people’s lives for the better. Buy from someone who cares, not just because they sell them. She always says to take these as a supplement to a healthier lifestyle.
Rachel says
The Asset Bold pills come from China so how do we know what is actually in them? My friend who sells them said, “Yes, they are on back order from China.” That really scared me so I searched online and saw other distributors reporting the same thing.
I’m pretty sure they have sibutramine in them after the side effects I experienced. Just because the label says the pills have XYZ in them doesn’t mean that is true since they aren’t regulated by the FDA.
The problem is they can have sibutramine in them and we wouldn’t know unless we have the pills tested by a lab. They do work great but I am 99% positive they contain something other than green tea and bee pollen. Check out this article: voices.yahoo.com/herbal-weight-loss-supplements-china-are-7541692.html?cat=68
Joe says
Rachel, thanks I was not aware of that article.
Rachel says
I talked to my friend again, and she assured me the Bold does not contain sibutramine. As for the back-order problem, she said the Bold became more popular than expected so between that and the holidays that China has made it take longer. She also said that the FDA checks every box that comes into the USA due to the fact that there are so many companies that have tried to sneak the hidden ingredients into their products.
She is an honest person, and I know she would never work for a company that would do such a dishonest act. She also said that her company is working on getting more products made here in the USA due to back order problems and to ensure better product safety.
She said they already have one product out made in the USA and another out in December. I have been taking the Asset 2 and have never felt better. If they were so bad, how could it help me feel so much better.
Joe says
Rachel, we will just have to see what the future holds and for now I’ll just be glad you are feeling better.
Brittany says
Hey, I was here before and since been doing research, (not saying I’m right at all) but they said senna itself works as an appetite suppressant, and also helps lose weight, and also causes extreme thirst? None the less it shouldn’t be used longer than two weeks if that is the case but do you think that’s whats causing the weight loss? In slim trim u.
Joe says
Hi Brittany, Im only aware of senna as a laxative and nothing else. Im not aware of any evidence it suppresses appetite. I do have a review of Slim Trim U in case you missed it. I didnt see any senna in Slim Trim U when I reviewed it.
Brittany says
Hi, I have seen on some website I can’t find it again, should have saved it they said that senna was sometimes used as weight management, although I’m sure not healthy. But I had ordered a bottle some time ago its 2012 bottle and on my bottle it says it has senna I don’t know how to add a pic, but it says senna, cassia, aloe, green tea, rhubarb , astragalus, polygon, radish seed, malt , mulberry, hawthorn lotus leaf, and Vitamins. That’s in the small print , in the big print it says bee pollen, Chinese yam , Barbary wolf berry fruit, lotus seed , dietary fiber. I don’t know if they switched ingredients around?
Joe says
Hi Brittany,I didnt know zxt gold once contained senna. thanks for the info. In my review of Zi Xiu Tang, it also had senna at one time but it was removed too.
Brittany says
The slim trim u had senna I have never bought zxt Gold 🙂
Joe says
hi Brittney I didn’t see sena a when I reviewed it
