There are three main types of weight loss supplements. Some are designed to curb appetite because of their fiber content while others may contain ingredients touted to reduce appetite by interfering with hunger hormones and/or chemical messengers (leptin, serotonin, etc). The third class of weight is those containing stimulants. These are promoted to boost metabolism, helping you burn more calories when you are not exercising. Stimulant-based supplements are sometimes called thermogenic and may be identified by the use of these buzz words in their names: lipo, phen, thermo or burn.
