Update 8/13/20. Thrive W (also called “Thrive For Women”) is a supplement touted to have multiple benefits ranging from weight loss to supporting muscle growth. Judging from all the emails I’ve been getting lately, Le-Vel supplements have been generating a lot of interest on the internet. This review will be specifically about “Thrive W” (not to be confused with Thrive M, the men's supplement). In this review, you'll learn about the research ingredients and side potential side effects. Does it really work? Let's see.
Other Thrive Reviews
Thrive W Benefits
According to the description of the product, Thrive W is touted to help with these areas:
- Weight management
- Cognitive performance
- Joint support
- Inflammation support
- Lean muscle support
- Digestive and immune support
It’s also said to contain an “anti-aging and antioxidant blend” of ingredients as well. There are a lot of ingredients in Thrive For Women. During this review, I’ll try to isolate which ingredients might be responsible for each of these claims.
Thrive W Research
The Le-Vel website states this about Thrive W: “From years of experience, science, and perfecting, THRIVE W is the only premium lifestyle capsule of its kind.” The words science and perfecting got my attention because it gave me the impression that years of research went into the creation and perfection of this supplement. But, when I searched online for:
- Thrive W research
- Le-Vel research
No clinical research could be located.
Searching clinical databases for:
- Thrive supplements
- Le-Vel supplements
- Thrive W
revealed no clinical studies either. Likewise, I saw no such clinical trials on the Le-vel website either.
If Thrive W has clinical evidence to support its effectiveness, that research could not be located.
But what about its ingredients?
Let’s now look at the Thrive W ingredients next.
Thrive W Ingredients List
According to the label, 1 capsule contains the following ingredients and it’s recommended to take 1-2 capsules per day on an empty stomach or between meals:
Amount per serving | Percent daily value | |
Vitamin A | 1500 IU | 30% |
Vitamin B1 | 1.4 mg | 100% |
Vitamin B2 | 1.7 mg | 100% |
Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) | 12 mg | 60% |
Vitamin B5 | 10 mg | 100% |
Vitamin B6 | 2 mg | 100% |
Folic acid | 800 mcg | 200% |
Vitamin B12 | 100 mcg | 1667% |
Vitamin D3 | 200 IU | 50% |
Chromium (chromium AAC) | 200 mcg | 167% |
Selenium (selenium AAC) | 90 mcg | 125% |
Vanadium (vanadium AAC) | 25 mcg | N/A |
Thrive W Proprietary Blend
Each 1 capsule also has 257 mg of a proprietary blend containing the following ingredients:
B. lactis | L. acidophilus | L. casei | L. helviticus |
L. salvarius | L. plantarum | L. rhamnosus | Guarana |
Green tea | Glucosamine | White willow extract | Glutamine |
Green coffee bean | PEA | Kelp | Irvinga extract |
BCAA blend | Theobromine | Ginger extract | Synephrine |
Aspartic acid | L serine | Grape seed extract | Co Q10 |
White tea extract |
Read this table from left to right. This will tell you which ingredients are present the most and least. For example, since B. lactis is listed first, it makes up most of the proprietary blend, while white tea extract makes up the last since it's listed last.
Other ingredients
The product also contains Stearic acid, silica, and gelatin. These other ingredients play no role in the effects or benefits of this supplement.
Thrive W Ingredients Review
Now let’s review each of the ingredients. There is not an overabundance of most of the vitamins or minerals in the product. I don't feel they add the benefits of the product and so I won’t discuss them, except to mention a few briefly.
Niacinamide
This is a form of the B vitamin, niacin. Niacinamide is different than niacin in that it won’t cause face flushing some report with niacin. This may be one of the ingredients behind the claim of “joint support.” There have been some studies on niacinamide noting it may help osteoarthritis pain. But, those studies generally use about 3 grams a day to achieve this effect. This is more than is in Thrive W (which has just 12 milligrams).
Among the ingredients, you may have noticed chromium, selenium, and vanadium are listed as:
- Chromium AAC
- Selenium AAC
- Vanadium AAC
The “AAC” refers to “amino acid chelate.” Basically, this means the minerals have been bonded to amino acids to improve their absorption. Whether or not this makes a significant difference is debatable. See the review of chromium weight loss research for more insights.
Proprietary Blend Ingredients
There are 25 ingredients in the proprietary blend. Each 1 capsule contains 527 mg total of all the 25 ingredients listed.
B. lactis | L. acidophilus | L. casei | L. helviticus |
L. salvarius | L. plantarum | L. rhamnosus | Guarana |
Green tea | Glucosamine | White willow extract | Glutamine |
Green coffee bean | PEA | Kelp | Irvinga extract |
BCAA blend | Theobromine | Ginger extract | Synephrine |
Aspartic acid | L serine | Grape seed extract | Co Q10 |
White tea extract |
Supplement companies don't have to tell us how much of each ingredient is in proprietary blends. That said, remember the ingredients listed first are the most abundant, while ingredients toward the end of the list are the least abundant. For example, from the table above, the supplement has the most B. lactis (because it's listed first) and the least white tea extract (because it's listed last).
Probiotics Ingredients
Thrive W contains the following probiotic bacteria:
- B. lactis (the B stands for bacillus)
- L. acidophilus (the L stands for lactobacillus )
- L. caseri
- L. helviticus
- L. salvarius
- L. plantarum
- L. rhamnosus
In this list, the letters (“B” and “L”) represent the genus of the bacteria and the name (lactis, for example) represents the species of the bacteria used.
Different strains of bacteria might have different effects. One strain might do something great while another strain might do nothing at all. Without knowing the strain, it's not possible to know their exact function although it's possible they might be present for:
- Immune support
- Digestive support
- Weight management (maybe)
Probiotics are often added to supplements as a way to alter the microbiome – those bacteria that live inside of us. We now know gut bacteria can have big effects on our health. There are good bacteria and bad bacteria.
One question, however, is which bacteria are good and which are bad. There are a lot of bacteria in Thrive W but it's a lot less than the thousands of types that are inside of you.
When it comes to gut health, diversity is good. The more different types of bacteria we have inside of us, the better. Two ways that seem to alter gut bacteria is eating more fiber and exercise.
Here are 5 things that are bad for your gut health:
Thrive Premium Lifestyle Mix also contains probiotics. See that review for more info.
Guarana
This is a plant that contains caffeine. Is Le-Vel using the whole plant or an extract of the plant? They don’t tell us. If it’s an extract, then my guess is caffeine might be the extract used. If I am right, I can’t say how much caffeine is in the supplement. Can any Thrive promoters shed light on this?
See the Thrive Shake review for more insights on that supplement.
Green Tea
Green tea contains some caffeine (unless it's decaffeinated) so it’s possible this ingredient might also contribute to the stimulant effects of Thrive W. Green tea also has lots of antioxidants and so this may part of the “antioxidant blend” in the supplement too.
Green tea has been in several weight loss supplements I've reviewed previously but I don't believe it helps people lose weight. As proof, this study, found green tea supplements did not help people lose weight or raise their metabolism even after using it for 3 months.
As an aside, I personally wish companies would remove green tea from supplements. Drink the tea but leave the green tea supplements alone until we know more about their safety.
See the Supplements & Liver failure review.
Glucosamine
Since glucosamine is often used to help reduce arthritis pain, this likely is one of the ingredients responsible for the “Joint support” benefit in the product.
As mentioned in the review of glucosamine, there are 3 different types in supplements:
- Glucosamine sulfate
- Glucosamine HCL
- NAG (N-acetyl-glucosamine)
What type of glucosamine does Thrive W contain?
They don’t tell us.
The label only says “glucosamine.” I believe the strongest evidence is for glucosamine sulfate. Most studies showing it helps arthritis use 1500 mg per day. Remember, all the ingredients in 1 capsule of Thrive W only add up to just 527 mg.
Could the glucosamine combine with the other ingredients in the product to help arthritis pain? It's possible.
White Willow Bark
White willow bark contains an aspirin-like compound called salicylic acid. Some OTC pain relievers contain a combination of aspirin and caffeine. If people notice having less pain after using Thrive For Women, I think white willow bark might play a role in this.
Glutamine
This is an amino acid and is likely one of the ingredients behind the claim of “lean muscle support.” The body can make glutamine and this is why it’s also called a non-essential amino acid. That said, under stressful conditions or disease, we may not make enough. It’s for this reason glutamine is sometimes called a “conditionally essential amino acid.”
In other words, under some conditions, we need more than what we can make naturally. Because exercise is a stress, some feel glutamine can help support muscle growth, although not all research shows it works.
I covered some of the research on glutamine in a previous post so see that for more information.
While they don’t tell us how much glutamine is in Thrive W, I don’t think it's much, because all the ingredients only amount to 572 mg in 1 capsule.
Taking 2 capsules a day, would likely provide less than 1 gram of glutamine. That is less than many studies have used.
Green Coffee Bean
This supplement, also called Chlorogenic acid, is popular in weight loss supplements. I’ve written an entire in-depth review on the weight loss research of green coffee extract so see that too.

I feel green coffee bean needs better research. I believe this because one of the best studies on this compound was retracted after the authors admitted they could not verify the data used in the study.
This greatly reduces the believably of the hype surrounding this stuff. Green coffee extract is listed #13 in the ingredients list, so it doesn’t have much of it.
Green coffee bean is also in the Thrive Patch so see that review too.
Also, see the review of bogus weight-loss supplements.
PEA
The letters PEA are short for Phenylethylamine (Fee-nil-ethyl-A-mean), a type of amino acid. This ingredient might be linked to the “cognitive performance” claim made for Thirve W. Some interesting research suggests PEA might increase dopamine levels. This means it may be able to alter mood. It might help depression too. Exercise appears to naturally raise PEA levels.
PEA is also a stimulant which, according to WebMD.com “looks” like amphetamines.
Kelp
My hunch is kelp is in Thrive W because it contains iodine, a mineral needed to make thyroid hormone. Thyroid hormone raises metabolism. This is why kelp is sometimes found in weight loss supplements.
Other weight loss supplements I’ve looked at which contained iodine include:
See those other reviews for additional information.
Irvingia Extract
This is also called African Mango. As mentioned in my review of African Mango, there are some human studies on this compound. As far as I can tell, the best evidence appears to stem from the use of an extract called “IGOB131.” What extract of Irvingia is in Thrive W? I don't know.
Even if it contains the IGOB131 extract, how much does it have? They don’t tell us that either, but it is # 16 in the ingredients list, so my guess is not much.
See the MBS 360 review for another African Mango-containing supplement.
BCAA Blend
The letters BCAA stands for Branch Chain Amino Acid. There are 3 of these amino acids:
- Leucine
- Isoleucine
- Valine
Thrive W contains a “BCAA Blend.” My guess is the blend is a mixture of all three amino acids. BCAA's also popular in muscle building supplements so I believe they are linked to the “lean muscle support” claim. Regardless, given how far down in the ingredients list they are, I believe you’d probably get more BCAAs in a can of tuna fish than in Thrive W.
Theobromine
Theobromine is one of the compounds in the cacao plant which is where we get chocolate from. Theobromine is a stimulant and a diuretic (makes you pee more). For more on this ingredient, see my reviews of:
Ginger Extract
Since they don’t tell us what extract of ginger they are using, it’s hard to figure out what it’s supposed to do in the product. Maybe it's supposed to be anti-inflammatory? Does anybody know?
Synephrine
This is a stimulant. In supplements, it goes by several names including bitter orange and citrus Aurantium. In my review of the weight loss supplement called PhenTabz, it was called octopamine. Because it chemically “looks” like ephedra, it may be found in supplements claiming to be “ephedra-free.” Some of the supplements containing synephrine I’ve looked at previously include:
Synephrine can raise heart rate and blood pressure and has been associated with some serious side effects including heart attacks in even healthy people. As such, I’m not a fan of it in supplements.
For what it's worth, I don’t think there is much synephrine in Thrive W because it's pretty far down in the ingredients list. That's good. What's bad is its presence.
Aspartic Acid and Serine
These are non-essential amino acids. We make both aspartic acid and serine every day. What role do they play in Thrive W, I can’t say.
Grape Seed Extract
The scientific name for grape seed is Vitis vinifera. While they don’t tell us what extract of grape they are using, my guess this ingredient is for “inflammation support” given that grape product (like grape juice and grape seed oil) might reduce inflammation in the blood vessels.
CoQ10
Coenzyme Q10, also called CoQ10 or Ubiquinone is found in just about every cell of the body. It helps our cells make energy, and as we age, we make less of it. There are many studies on CoQ10 which hint it might have multiple effects in the body such as helping lower cholesterol levels, migraine headaches, and blood pressure among other things.
While all this is nice, does the product have enough CoQ10 to be therapeutically helpful? I don't know. Most studies generally use at least 100 mg. Remember the entire proprietary blend in Thrive W only has 527 mg. There are 25 ingredients in the proprietary blend and of those, CoQ10 is listed 24th.
White Tea Extract
Even though they call it white tea, this stuff is similar to green tea in its anti-oxidant power. While that's good, I have to ask what extract of white tea are they using? They don’t tell us.
White tea does have some caffeine so could this be the extract? While tea is the last ingredient listed in the proprietary blend so if it is, I don’t think there is much present.
Stimulant Ingredients
Here they are the stimulant ingredients:
- Guarana
- Green tea
- PEA
- Theobromine
- Synephrine
- White tea (maybe)
Ingredients are listed in order as they appear in the proprietary blend to give an idea of which might be present the most and least.
Where To Buy Thrive W
Thrive supplements cannot be purchased at Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Target, Rite Aid, Costco, Sams Club GNC, Vitamin Shoppe or other stores like that. Rather, they can only be purchased directly from Thrive promoters. You can also go to the Le-Vel.com website and purchase them too although you'll be asked to provide the name of the promoter who referred you.
I liked this as it means the company is not in competition with those who sell their supplements.
How Much Caffeine?
Those sensitive to caffeine may wonder how much caffeine is in this supplement. They don't really tell us. In the comments section below, you will see a Thrive Brand distributor state Thrive W has 40 mg of caffeine while Thrive M has 50 mg.
She also said that Thrive Lifestyle Mix has 25 mg and that the Thrive Patch does not have any caffeine. While this is nice, I'd like to see a document that states this. Remember, several ingredients in this product contain caffeine. Also, caffeine is not the only stimulant in the Thrive W.
Thrive W And Thrive DFT Patch: Better Together?
As I was told, thrive W is part of a lifestyle program that incorporates the use of a weight management patch called the “DFT Patch.
While it's possible both work best together to promote a greater effect, at this time, I'm unable to locate any clinical proof to substantiate this.
Thrive W vs. Thrive M
While this review is mostly about Thrive W, there is also a men's version, called Thrive M. How are they different? The table below shows how they compare to each other:
Thrive W (1 capsule) | Thrive M (1 capsule) |

In the table, “NA” means no daily value established. mg = milligrams and mcg = micrograms.
If you scroll down the ingredients, you see both Thrive W and Thrive M are pretty similar all the way down to the white willow ingredient. After that, the ingredients shift their positions a bit.
Thrive W contains the amino acids aspartic acid and serine. These are not present in Thrive M. Instead, thrive M contains the amino acid called arginine. It's speculation, but this might be because arginine helps produce nitric oxide. Nitric oxide plays a role in erections.
See the Super Beets review for more on nitric oxide.
The amounts in the proprietary blends are a little different – 526mg in Thrive M and 527 mg in Thrive W. I dont think this is significant.
Who Makes Thrive Supplements?
Thrive supplements are a product of a company called Le-Vel LLC. Another name for the company is “Le-Vel Brands LLC.” The listed address for the company is 9201 Warren Pkwy #200, Frisco, TX 75035. If you Google this address, you can see it's the same address as a company called “Going Postal” which is a post-office-like facility. The “#200” in the address may be the Going Postal “PO Box” number.
This is the same address as was reported to the Better Business Bureau.
To contact Le-Vel, the BBB lists this phone number: 888-557-0005.
The BBB indicates the Le-Vel business was created in 2013. The company website (Le-Vel.com) was registered in 2012. Le-Vel is a “cloud-based” company. In other words, there doesn’t appear to be an actual/physical building called “Le-Vel” where the supplements are made.
Here is BBB file Le-Vel LLC. The company had an A+ rating when this review was updated. See the BBB file for ratings and more information.
SiteJabber, a consumer website also has several reviews on Le-Vel. Here is the SiteJabber file. Interestingly, while many of the reviews left there said the same thing – “life-changing” what are the odds of different people using the same words? The problem with testimonials is we have no way of verifying them.
Thrive W Side Effects
Does Thrive W have any side effects? Here are some thoughts I had based on the ingredients. This list is not complete:
- Stop taking Thrive W at least 2 weeks before surgery.
- Don't take Thrive W if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you take any medications such as those used to treat kidney or liver problems or high blood pressure or heart disease, show the ingredients to your doctor or pharmacist. In theory, some of the ingredients might interact with medications.
- In theory, glucosamine might raise blood sugar in diabetics.
Green tea-containing supplements have been linked to liver problems –including liver failure. While I think this a very rare occurrence and I don’t believe this product has a lot of green tea, If you have liver issues, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
Here are some of the concerns/complaints people expressed in the comments section below. I'll be honest, some of these left below by people who've taken Thrive supplements have me uneasy. Here are some excerpts of the side effects people reported in the comments section below:
- I took it only five days and I also have high blood pressure and I felt like I had a heavyweight on my chest.
- I EXPERIENCED a stiff neck then a sick headache and I passed out. I stopped Thrive. been off of it for a wk. I feel better but my skin I jumpy at times.
- So I’ve been taking Thrive W for over a year now. When I don't take it I notice a loss of energy.
- My mind was racing, yet I felt too bad to do anything! I felt so sick from the caffeine overload! I never want to feel this way again!
- One thing I noticed is that Thrive makes me thirsty. I can’t get enough water.
- I was given a sample of Thrive, during a period when I was mourning the death of my sister. I just could not seem to pull myself out of a depressed state of mind. Thrive helped me with that, and did an excellent job of doing so.
- had a lot of energy , clear-headed, and my back pain went away as well as my migraine I have nearly every day. I felt somewhat jacked up, however , but at the end of the day it wasn’t so intense and I slept like a baby . But … I had heart palpitations before going to sleep.
Take these for what they are. Looking over the testimonials, many people do say they have more energy. I believe that's a testament to the stimulants in this supplement. Read the comments below to see what everybody else is saying.
Is Thrive Safe?
Because everyone is different it's not possible to say across the board anything is 100% “safe.” We all have differences. That said, it's good to keep in mind several of the ingredients in Thrive W are stimulants. While there is no clinical proof either way, for those who sensitive to stimulants or who are not “healthy,” in theory, this might be an issue.
Just a few conditions where stimulants might be a problem include breastfeeding, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney problems, liver problems, diabetes or stroke risk.
To be clear, there is no proof Thrive W is a problem for any of these conditions. Again, each person is different. As with all dietary supplements, to know for sure, show the ingredients to your doctor and/or pharmacist for more individualized information on this topic. This is always wise for those who have health problems.
How To Return Thrive W
If you purchased supplements via a promoter, they should be able to help with returning products. Here is what I could gather from the company website.
According to the Terms and Conditions page of Le-Vel.com, unopened supplements come with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee minus a 10% restocking fee.
In other words, the company keeps 10% of the money spent to pay the cost for restocking the items.
Before returning items, people have to first contact the “Le-Vel Online Support Ticket System from within your account.” In other words, it appears you can’t do this over the phone.
Be sure to include the original packing slip or a printed copy of your receipt.
For supplements that are opened or partially used or damaged, the company will refund only 50% of the cost of the products.
Send the package to be returned to this address:
Le-Vel Returns
1545 S 4800 W
Salt Lake City, UT 84104
The return address, corresponded to “Pro Star Logistics.” This is a company that helps other companies with order fulfillment, packing, and warehousing. Their website is ProStarLogistics.com for those who wish to learn more about them.
While I’m sure Le-Vel promoters can help people with all of this, I feel the return process is overly complicated. I was also not satisfied with the company keeping a “restocking fee” on returned supplements.
Does Thrive W Realy Work?
Without clinical studies, it’s difficult to make a decision. On the surface, it would appear Thrive W has ingredients to support its claims but are the levels of those ingredients the same as used in clinical trials? I do believe some who take Thrive W will feel more energized and that's probably because several of the ingredients are stimulants like caffeine. As for weight loss? I think the results will vary.
Here it is on Amazon
Hello, I started taking Thrive a few months ago because my girlfriend was taking it and swore by it. I didn’t go into it with super high unrealistic expectations and I also didn’t have any medical maladies I was trying to cure miraculously. The only review I can give is my own which is very positive.
I have more energy, sleep a lot better, mentally am more focused and aware and I’ve lost body fat. I work out 4 or so days a week and do powerlifting and various types of cardio.
If you take this product thinking it’s going to cure all that ails you you’re in for disappointment, no one thing will. But if you’re looking for a great way to fill the nutritional gap I highly recommend Thrive. I should also mention that regular multi vitamins make me sick to my stomach, but I’ve not experienced that at all with Thrive.
What is nutritional gaps? Please define this. What gaps are being filled and how are they filled? Please use your own words, don’t use any jargon from the Le-vel website. I’m just curious if you actually know what your doing.
Guess he doesn’t know. Lol
Typical
I stopped taking thrive when my doctor told me it had enough caffeine to make 15 redbulls look like a walk in the park. Now that’s a constant, all day buzz. He looked it up right there in from of me and his sources are legit. The doctor told me to stop taking thrive immediately. I peeled off the dft patch right there in his office and haven’t touched it since.
Do you know where the doctor found this information? I’ve been trying to find out how much of these supplements and shakes are stimulants since I am already on a prescription that is a stimulant.
RLR, I think maybe DFs doctor was using a bit of hyperbole when he said “15 Red Bulls.” One distributor did tell me Thrive W had 40 mg of caffeine which I added into my review but I have no documentation to back that up. Since you already take a prescription stimulant, If you have the supplement with you, might I suggest you show the ingredients to your pharmacist and see what she/he thinks. Let us know what they say.
I took thrive for 3 days after a friend harassed me in trying a free sample. The 1st day was awesome, tons of energy and super focused. The second day I still had energy but it was a sort of nervous energy and my head and stomach felt off. 3rd day I thought I was going to die. I laid in bed holding my head and crying. I swear I could feel the poison running through my veins.
I took a couple of days to recover and I swore I would NEVER poison my body like that again. Water, exercise and green juice is all I need to feel amazing. I feel bad for all the desperate people out there who are wasting hundreds of dollars a month on this junk.
Thank you for writing this! Recently had a friend join the Thrive craze and swears by it. I have Cystic Fibrosis and have a very hard time absorbing vitamins, especially when it comes to the regular store bought ones with a low absorption rate to begin with. I asked this friend what makes these supplements so special, and what the absorption rate is.
Someone said 93% but I am seeing that nowhere, and the website for Thrive is very bland as far as factual information goes. I will be looking over your site and hope to gain some new insight on supplements that are bio-available! If you have any recommendations, I am open to them! Thank you!
Hi Em, you are welcome. Ive never heard about the 93% absorption rate but even if it was that high (it might be), Id assume that is in people who have no absorption issues. We would need studies of those with CF to know what its absorption is in people with CF.
I just had a member tell me 97%-100%. Then he proceeded to tell me that other leading companies are at 2-3%. I’ve contacted Thrive about these numbers. They won’t stand by it, they also wouldn’t tell me what the actual number. LOL
Hi Sabah, I’m not sure. I recommend you contact the Lepigen company and ask them.
I took thrive for over a year. The first 8-10 weeks I felt great, euphoric. Almost like a mania is how I can describe it but I was sleeping at night for 6-7 hours soundly. Then it stopped working. I stopped feeling the “thrive” effect is what I call it.
Then I started to have pain again and inflammation, started to not feel energetic and actually felt a little paranoid. Then the ear symptoms began, ringing, buzzing, clicking. I started having horrible headaches, shoulder pain. I went to dr and was still taking it. Had mri of neck and thoracic are because I thought I had punched nerve. Then I had gallbladder removed for biliary diskinesia. I stopped taking thrive the day I had gallbladder surgery.
I had repeated tests and ct scan after surgery because of pain and intensified symptoms. Found out I had thyroid nodules which I did not have in previous Mri a few years ago. I had gallbladder surgery on a Friday and I ended up in the ER on a Sunday with a massive migraine and vomiting I have not started taking the supplements again.
I was depressed my body was out of control doing its own thing. I try to take the supplements again and I got very dizzy and felt so sick not like it had been when I started in the beginning a year earlier. I have had every test under the sun in the last five months of being off of thrive. I have severe anxiety and depression, this past summer I had rashes and fevers. No medical test could explain this.
I am now being treated by a rheumatologist, therapist, and psychiatrist. I have never had anything like this happen in my life. For the past month my always thick and healthy hair has been falling out in copious amounts. I don’t know if any of this is related to taking and stopping thrive but something happened after the initial 8-10 weeks.
I wish I would have never taken it, I should have known better being a member of the healthcare profession. All I can say is do your research before taking anything. Drinking water, eating organic, eliminating processed foods is way more healthier than taking pills.
I am now on 3 pharmaceuticals since 3 months post thrive prior to being on nothing when starting it. There is no magic pill out there. Good luck to all that get caught up in supplements, lesson learned here.
Same thing is happening to me. I was fine until I stopped Thrive. Same exact symptoms!
I’m so glad you two have written about your experience coming off of Thrive. It just further proves my point about what a waste of time and money this is. On Thrive, no one really learns how to correct anything. The product does it for you. So when you come off of it the cravings come back, the aches and pains, inflammation, tiredness. Everything is related, it’s just mind over body. Once your able to tell yourself YOU can do it, everything will line up. It’s something you can take with you for the rest of your life. YOU accomplished it, not a product.
As a Le-vel Brand promoter some of your research is flawed. since I have not only been taking the product for over a year and promoting as well. I can answer any questions anyone may have. If a brand promoter said it had 40 MG’s of caffeine that was wrong there is a little less then that. and the DFT patch has the time release on it. which means the DFT will help put the High grade premium vitamins into your system through out the day leaving you with all day sustained energy and lots of other benefits.
thanks for reading this post.
Hi Lance, I can only go by what I was told and the caffeine comment is somewhere in these comments if you want to see them and speak to that brand distributor.
With respect to the DFT patch, when I reviewed it, I dont recall seeing any vitamins. Rather, the patch contained : ForsLean, Green Coffee Bean Extract, Garcina Cambogia, COQ10, White Willow Bark and Cosmoperine. None of these are vitamins. Here’s the DFT patch review
And there it is……the generic promoter babble…….”Lots of premium vitamins….sustained energy……lots of other benefits”……sounds legit!
This goes to show you the lack of education in the Thrive Promoter community. No one knows anything. They just repeat what they read on Le-vel webpage. I got the exact numbers from Le-veld Support site, every promoter has been off. I haven’t spoken to one that knows the exact Caffeine amounts. I might add that there is A LOT of Caffeine in Thrive. Almost every product has it. Then you add the Guarana, green tea extract, coffee bean extract, etc. Le-vel won’t release these numbers because they are listed in proprietary blend. If they did, I guarantee you, you wouldn’t take it. When you compare it to a cup of coffee, Caffeine accounts for 2% of the total weight. Guarana, which is in Thrive and which levels are undisclosed, Caffeine accounts for 50% its weight! THIS is product knowledge, I wish y’all did the same.
Thank you. The caffeine content was worrisome because I JUST came off drinking caffeine and definitely didn’t want to taking more without realizing it!
Yes I have been taking them for a while and while taking them I have the energy of, like written, 3 redbulls or a case of soda and when I don’t I am dragging my butt. My head is throbbing worse than detoxing from soda when I don’t take them. I keep going back to them because I like having the energy but …. I don’t think its worth it.
Thank you for answering questions I didn’t even know I had. Excellent and thorough. I have had my hesitations and after reading this, it is not a product for me.
Hi Amanda, you are welcome.
Please do not take thrive if you are planning on getting pregnant. I took thrive and stopped soon as i got pregnant. I had a miscarriage at 14 weeks. Then 3 months later I miscarried at 5 weeks. These happened after 3 healthy pregnancies. My good friend was taking thrive and had a miscarriage at 6 weeks.
I Finally got pregnant a year later and carried a healthy baby …no more thrive!
I felt awful after I stopped it. Almost like I needed it..craved it in an unhealthy way. I also had headaches, was irritable, and tired. Of course that could have been a combo of the hormones from pregnancy but it was just something worse than i had ever felt.
Been free of thrive, adjusted my diet, exercising regularly and I feel great! I’m not getting trapped into those gimmicks again.
Thank you for the product info and all the time you’ve done researching.
Hi Jenny, Sorry to hear of your past miscarriages. I can only imagine how hard that was. I am so glad to learn of the new addition to your family 🙂
I am in the medical field and have been using the product for a year and a half. Everyone has diff experiences with the product, however I do not believe this product is the cause of these things.
As we don’t make medical claims of it “curing” any medical issue you can not say it was the direct cause of your miscarriage. I got pregnant using thrive, took it during pregnancy and am still on it while breastfeeding (all approved by my doc). It is an all natural supplement.
It has helped change literally thousands of peoples lives. It’s not for everyone, and that is ok. What I find funny is people are so quick to do “research” and blame a wellness product, but they will continue to drink coffee, eat fast food and processed foods with no second thought
What I don’t understand is how you can call a “patch” all natural, when I see. ZERO scientific proof!
Why do promoters get mad when people research there product? it’s like y’all know we are going to find the truth of how terrible it is. AND please tell me why a cup of coffee is so TERRIBLE for you? All promoters are on this bandwagon of “coffee is so terrible” for you. It’s amazing how dietitians go to school for this, and promoters start lecturing me after 2 days with no education in the field what so ever.
I have been using the vitamins and patch since May. The patch when on my shoulder of feel the stuff going through my body and have to itch shoulder a lot. When on butt on do u have any suggestions on where to put it?
I was thinking of maybe just using the vitamins. I have low muscle tone and get tired fast which is why I use it. I also get migraines and ur products are helping me not get them.
Hi Cheryl, Have you had a recent physical to see why you are getting tired so fast? I recommend you do that if you have not. If you are healthy, the best way I know of to give you more energy is to do some sort actively, like walking. you mentioned low muscle tone, which I take to mean low muscle mass. Try doing pushups against a wall to improve upper body strength/endurance and for lower body strength/endurance, just sit down on a chair and stand up. Exercise will cause a lot of cellular adaptations to occur whcih can help improve your endurance and strength.
I guess the new weight loss craze. Please research ingredients of all supplements and know what they do and how they interact and as i always say think chemicals not calories as far as weight and health are concerned.
If you cut out the junk and processed food including drinks you will lose weight naturally. No supplement is going to help if you dont eat right and exercise. And all the eating healthy does no good if the rest of your life is full of toxic chemicals messing up your endocrine system. Fragrance, laundry products, chemically laden shampoo and body wash.
All of it takes only seconds to soak into your endocrine system through your skin, hence the delivery system on this patch.
I have been taking Thrive for 10 months now. My personal experience has been good but its not just whats in the Thrive that has given me good results, but also the life changes I’ve made over these last 10 months.
I am a stage 4 cancer survivor, so I have a lot of late effects from chemo & radiation. I drank about 100 ounces of diet coke a day, ate a lot of junk food because both my jobs keep me on the road all day, & I was always stressed, which lead to me being always tied & in a bad mood.
Once I started Thrive, I was able to replace the diet coke with water, which I never drank before. I stopped ordering buckets of grease at drive thru, now if I have to hit a drive thru, I order a salad & fruit. (BTW, both the water & salad thing happened because my body started craving that instead of the junk food.).
I wake up in a good mood, which makes my days pretty much stress free, which makes for a much happier me. I also have had to stop taking Thrive a few times over the past few months to prepare for a couple surgeries, without any withdrawals, other than having less energy though out the day, which I’m sure a nice cold diet coke would’ve helped, but I refused to use caffeine.
I too had a friend who was a distributor. I too gave it a try. I eat pretty healthy, exercise at least moderately daily. But my stamina isn’t what it once was. I used to drink coffee or have a half a five hour energy drink to get me through my sedentary work day.
With thrive, ( do not mix with birth control), I had energy with no need for added caffeine. Now here’s the kicker. I have taken multi vitamins since I was a teenager and when I forgot to take the pill after a few days, I’d notice my energy was a tad lower; I might break a nail or two. When I picked back up taking my vitamin after a few days, I was my old self again.
With thrive, if you stop taking it, there are consequences. Never mind feeling tired, simple exercises as you used to will fix that. I was sick. Lay in the bed all day, cold sweats, hot flashes, stomach cramping, worst headache ever SICK!
For this product to be “pushed” as a vitamin why would it make you SO sick simply for skipping a few days? I’m happy my friend is earning a living etc etc but this product is like that of an illegal drug.
Taking it is like that of having a substance abuse problem. I’ve never taken anything for energy or health purposes that gave me withdrawals if I stopped. I only used it for a few months. Imagine if a year or more goes by… Good luck but I strongly urge those seeking a healthy lifestyle to continue searching.
B. Potts, Sorry to hear that happened to you. Question. why did you say not to mix thrive with birth control pills? Did you notice something when you did that?
From the amount of stimulants in the product, this does sound like stimulant withdrawal. I know in the past when I drank a lot of coffee and then went without I would have a headache like no other.
David, while it looks like there is only 40 mg of caffeine, might the other stimulants have an additive effect? I’m not sure.
You have pointed out there are more stimulants than caffeine in this product, and I cannot imagine anything other than an additive effect. I take a handful of pills (for blood pressure, depression, pain) and the doctor and pharmacist have kept track of what I take and how it adds/subtracts/alters the others. I know in the past when I drank lots of coffee, the more I drank the worse the headache when I stopped for a day or two. I suspect the same with all the ingredients in this product.
David, its quite possible. People here have said some interesting things. I’m hoping for some research to shed light on what might be going on.
How do you know you didn’t simply get a stomach bug and it was coincidence. I had to stop using it during my pregnancy due to other issues. You were giving your body nutrients it needs. When I stopped I didn’t have one day of feeling anything other than tired.
Dee, you were taking Thrive W when you were pregnant? did I understand that correctly?
Just a few posts up she says she took it all the way through her pregnancy and is still taking it while breastfeeding.
So, which is it?
This sounds like when people who are addicted to caffeine say they try to cut coffee cold turkey and react like addicts do when detoxing. In no way am I saying you are an addict or anyone is. I’m just saying the signs and symptoms seem to lean towards that and that was what concerned me about considering the product.
I know for a fact that caffeine stimulates me in ways that have to be very careful not to drink too much during the day. Probably due to my anxiety level. So I am very consciously aware of that and when asked to take this product I was very concerned about the amount of caffeine and it.
It seems like every diet pill I’ve come across always has caffeine for they always claim that will boost your energy level. Of course if I drink 6 cups of coffee I will get the same affect.
Thank you for this review finding that it seems great to try this product if you are willing to experience a new method in intake of caffeine.
I wish I had read your blog before I took it, my friend has been taking it and has been doing well so I thought I would try so I brought the couple pack and told my husband that we would try it, so we bought a month’s worth but when it arrived it only had 16 things in each with no real instructions so I have emailed them and have received no reply.
my friend who has been selling it got a reply from them and said the couple pack is to be taken mon – thurs only which I thought was weird.
Anyway i’m on day 2. day one was a bit of a nightmare I had a headache all day and felt dizzy and generally just off. I wasn’t hungry most of the day but by 9pm I was exhausted.
Day 2 I have another headache, not dizzy but I have felt on edge all day, nervous and just not myself so I’ve decided that this isn’t for me.
my husband has felt more energetic but he is a coffee drinker and I don’t drink caffeinated drinks at all so he thinks that my body isn’t use to the stimulants.
So i’m going to stop taking thrive and just do a diet the old way by watching what I put in my mouth!
Hi Alvynz, thank you for sharing. Sorry you had those reactions to the product.
The Monday-Thursday thing is marketed such that your Fri/Sat/Sun are freed up from the routine so that you aren’t worried about following a schedule. I know some people still take it everyday (caps/shake/DFT).
I’ve been trying Thrive for 10 weeks now and have seen noticeable changes that can’t be a coincidence. I’m a healthy eater, healthy weight, healthy exerciser (5-6 times a week, run and cross-train).
I’ve had the same red reaction to the patch but only sometimes. I’m still trying to figure out when and where the rashes appear. I’ve noticed it after swimming and being exposed to chlorine. I’ve also noticed it after I’ve gone for a run if I have the DFT still on (but not always).
Anyhow, I had some initial issues like Alvynz at first but I took 2 capsules and still drank 1-2 cups of coffee. I decreased the capsule intake to one and 0-1 cups of coffee and I feel great.
Hi Aime, thanks for sharing and I’m glad your reactions were not as dramatic as Alvynz. I appreciate your insights on trying to pin down the skin reactions to the patch too.
Could you not be a healthy eater and exercise 5-6 times a week without taking Thrive?
This whole Thrive thing is a sham. Have multiple friends involved selling/pushing it on ppl and it gets old listening to the pitch. to further add at least half of the men & women I know who did fall for the trap have now stopped taking it within the first month for the same many reasons ppl report.
Some gained weight, others had stomach issue as well as the headaches. I feel for these folks & everyone experiencing it but at the end of the day there is not one quick fix for ppls health, weight lose or enegry.
As I told many of the ppl i know there is much better & cheaper ways to assist in your health & diet. That said its not some one stop shop at $125+ a month that is for sure. Believe me I live a crazy life owning my own biz working 11-12hrs a day. That said it’s not difficult to live & eat healthy to stay lean & fit. Fact is ppl are just lazy these days and want a quick fix.
Ppl need to get up and move more, put the soda/energy can drinks down, start eating whole natural foods not processed garbage. Recently I made the personal life choice to change & I doing so i no longer eat processed food, all sugary drinks are out (including juice) & only try to eat natural foods.
guess what weight came off without even working out, off 2 meds now(1more to go), sleep much better, way more energy during the day into the evening. And you might ask the cost, a whole whopping $54/mon 1 supplement & 2 powder mixes ( 1 organic protein & 1 supergreen)
It’s not a scam. Its also. Not a weight loss program. Have you tried it? If not, you shouldn’t make such negative claims against something you’ve never tried. I have friends involved in other health and wellness companies. Though their product isn’t for me, I would NEVER bash them and speak of things that I have no personal experience to.
Also, in regards to the cost, it’s the only supplement company that you can earn FOR FREE as a customer.
I used Thrive W, the Thrive Patch and the Shakes for about 90 days. I had so much more energy and overall felt so much better than I had been feeling. However, I will say that others that I know using Thrive were loosing a lot of weight but I was gaining weight.
I figure it was because I felt so much better and was eating more and not exercising. About 3 weeks ago I decided to stop taking the Thrive products because of the cost and for a couple of days, I had the worst headache I have ever had.
I ended up going to my Dr and she advised that she really felt that I was having withdrawals from all of the stimulants in the products. The headaches are still there but no- where near as bad but I am very tired so I do miss that feel good feeling I had all the time. I wish there was something herbal that I could get to replace that part of the product.
My concern is that all of these people that are enjoying the benefits of Thrive are going to hit rock bottom when they do finally stop taking it.
Sorry to hear you didn’t have success with Thrive. How you can conclude that all your problems now stem from using Thrive is sad. This product has been endorsed by several physicians. Bashing this product only makes the company move harder to show you that your wrong. Pray you feel better soon.
OMG! Elizabeth is exposing, indirectly but it is so obvious, what is considered a low information individual. She believes anything that is told to her.
Just because some Dr’s endorsed a product does not mean that product is magically gold now.
I don’t know how any doctor could feel comfortable backing a product that has not shown any clinical trials.
I am a holistic nutritionist. Most medical doctors have little to no understanding of vitamins, herbs, amino acids, food in general. The nervous system stimulants are addictive. Not to mention dangerous to those with high blood pressure and heart problems. There are no clinical trials and zero regulation. The endocrine (hormone) system can be thrown out of whack with some of these ingredients.
I obviously believe in herbal remedies and vitamins, but this one size fits all approach with a dangerous combination of nervous system stimulants is irresponsible. It’s a typical MLM/pyramid scheme. All of the ingredients in Thrive can be found elsewhere for far less and by companies that are responsible.
Which doctors in what cities are endorsing Thrive. My doctor has asked me and all I could say is what the upline tells us. It would be great since you know to please share that information with me. Thanks a lot.
Take a cinnamon, Vitamin D, B12 & B3. Also you need caffeine.
Put those in a pink camouflage patch and you too could be driving a Lexus!
Because a friend is a Promoter, I decided to try it. Mainly I wanted to have more energy and not wake up so tired every day, that was my main goal. I felt “weird” in the beginning. Headache (my entire head, even teeth). I stopped taking it. Only then did my friend tell me that you will go through a detox.
They don’t tell you that up front because some people then imagine symptoms I guess, but I felt it was wrong. I thought there was something wrong with me. I did “power through” as was suggested, but I never felt more energy.
The only thing was that when taking the very chalky mix, it did suppress my appetite. . .at least I wasn’t hungry for something else in the mornings. I was convinced to try another month and my friend sent me some patches, “because it only works when used together” to which I asked, then why is it sold without the patches.
I didn’t order them because of the cost and wanted to try without first. Detox was over and used the 18 patches given and never felt any better! So I decided to stop it as it was basically a waste for me. I’m not saying it doesn’t work for others, but I got no benefit. . .except for the terrible headache the last two days, with I assume like Patricia, is from withdrawals.
My sister-in-law is all is into this and now has several people under her (she gets hers free) She was close to reaching some goal the company dangles in from of you, and she asked me to sign up. As a fool, I did. Threw away $150. Every day I was on it, I was so tired, I had to take a nap just to get thru the day!!!
I have been wiped out by mid day since I have started taking this, by 3 pm I am exhausted. It did decrease some pain, but I have had a tightness in my chest, increased irritability…no weight loss…
I know a lady who was so sweet, down to earth and really a generous person, even though she was poor. She was nagged by friends to start “thriving.” She was really over weight, obese, and could hardly get through the day. She has been on thrive for almost a year now, gets lots of money, $700.00 a week she claims, is driving a BMW paid for by Le-Vel and has lost 50 pounds.
But that’s not all. She has changed drastically. She is smart mouthed now, smirks at everyone, stays on like a high, runs like she has energy to spare, thins she is better then everyone now “except” her thrive friends and leaders and she is so cold hearted now.
The stimulants in the product keeps her on a high That’s what makes you lose weight. She tried to get me to sign up and I refused. I’m 67 years old and I don’t want to be running like a 16 year old. She’s in her 40’s. I have plenty of energy at my age and I go all the time with no stimulants, just a morning coffee. T
these people are brainwashed and they flash money in their faces and they run to be a promoter. They are taught at the seminars that people who refuse the le-Vel program are “negative” people and “stay away for negativity.” It’s almost like a cult. Hey, I know. She’s my neighbor. My neighbor now who is daring me to cross the property line, blocked me on facebook and is horrible and nasty now. She has been brainwashed. Her husband left her.
UnfortunatEly your friend’s experience is common for all people who have “plugged into the system” of MLM/Network Marketing. And I speak from experience. (And you can see examples on this thread. Hi Dee!)
If you are following the program, you’re awesome, and a winner and everyone treats you like gold. One question or hint of criticism and you’re a loser. And yes they tell you at business meetings your friends and family are losers for not being part of the life changing business. I have been part of more than one business. And that happens across the board. They even joke that it is brain washing and “well sometimes your brain could use a washing”. The techniques are directly taken from cult mind control techniques. It’s textbook.
It’s a Multi-Level Marketing scheme. Simple as that. It’s unsustainable. Once you run out of friends and family, your venture will be over and the only thing gained is having successfully annoyed them all to death and wasted their money.
I mean what isn’t a multi level marketing scheme in America? I think results are very patient specific for any nutritional supplement, even Thrive. As with anything it will have it’s benefits as well as risks.
As far as I can tell from what I’ve seen and read the benefits far outweigh the risk. Overall, I think nutrition as a whole is key. As much as most Americans want a cure all pill or the quick fix in many cases, I think I would be comfortable having my family members give it a try.
Like I said emphasis on nutrition as a whole should be maintained, but this sounds like a good start. When I say nutrition I mean whole foods diet. Yes I know, easier said than done, but anything life that’s worth it won’t be easy. It will be worthwhile.
I don’t think anyone can specifically tell you the adverse effects as they seem to vary per person. As someone who had an eating disorder for over a decade (bulimia), I can tell you that this did not cause me to relapse in any way. Thrive is chocked full of stimulants, however, and although they don’t market it as a weightloss supplement, I am sure it could lead to that in some. Especially if they use the shake (super low cal) as a meal replacement.
To put you at ease though, when I was a distributor, I had clients gain weight… And I had clients not lose a pound or gain a pound… I sincerely hope your daughter recovers. I understand that road too well.
Hi Katherine, I am also a “real” woman and most of my clients who became so ill were women, too. I literally dropped out of a 20k rank because I don’t believe in this product. Why would I do that? Turn down all that extra money?
Because, as a woman, I realized the physical devastation this was causing to myself and other ladies. I am also happy it works for you, but let’s not bash research that goes far beyond “Google” or the devastating experiences of so many others of all ages, sexes, and backgrounds.
Please be more specific with adverse affects. Can abuse lead to anorexia? My daughter a distributor herself is extremely thin after beginning this several months ago….
This product gave me energy. As stated earlier, the Synephrine side effects could lead to heart attacks. If your daughter is abusing it, yes this could be dangerous. How does she afford it? Don’t buy it for her. Just sayin
I’m a women and this stuff is terrible. I had bad stomach aches and was dizzy. I tried this for 3 days and then later I tried 5 days and then finally did 30 days. My issues went away as soon as I stopped taking them. It may work for some but it is not all natural. The amount of stimulates is huge. Yes not caffeine but the results are the same
I have to disagree with you Cindy, I’m a 45 year old Man, and all the ingredients that I see are from natural sources of caffeine, vitamins and minerals etc , I have been on the Men’s Blue Caps, The Shake, the Black Label patch, and the greens for 2 weeks, and have lost 16 pounds, and have never felt better.
I have been dieting and working out all my life struggling with weight management, and have tried everything under the sun, and can tell you 90% of the stuff in the GNC don’t work. This stuff gives me incredible energy, and I will continue to take it , although I could care less about sale or promoting the product in my opinion this stuff in the greatest thing since sliced bread, It So works!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joe, I’d also like to say that Thrive W falls into the Herbal Supplement category which doesn’t require the same FDA approval as other drugs.
http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/herbal-supplements/art-20046714
Hi Katherine, thanks. I do believe the FDA treats them like other supplements. I know there are some different rules for “homeopathic” products thought.
I take a good B vitamin blend that I get from Wonderlabs.com and love it! I need something to boost metabolism and curb my appitite, what do you recommend? HELP please!
Hi Pam, while I am not a fan of things that “boost” metabolism (because most dont hvae any proof they help weight loss), here is a list of things that I feel have some level of evidence: http://www.joe-cannon.com/what-weight-loss-supplements-work/ This link goes to my personal website. Hope that helps some.
Thank you very much!
You are very welcome Pam 🙂
