Update 3/9/20. Alkalize. Balance. Detoxify. These are words used to describe “It Works, Greens”, a supplement said to restore pH balance to the body. With restored alkalinity, it’s said, you will experience immune system health and increased energy. I’ve been intrigued by –and had questions about – claims that we can alter the alkalinity of the body to improve health for a while now and so when It Works Greens came to my attention, I thought I’d review it and see what I might discover. If you are curious also, keep reading, and let’s see what we can find out about it. Also, see the review of It Works Fat Fighter as well as the ThermoFit review for more information.
It Works Greens Research
Clinical research on It Works Greens could not be located. That doesn't mean the supplement doesn't work. Rather, it means we need to evaluate the ingredients in the Greens supplement.
It Works Greens Nutrition Facts
According to the product label, a serving of It Works Greens (Berry Flavor) is 2-level scoops (4 grams) mixed with 8 oz of water. These 2 scoops have the following basic nutrition information:
Amount Per Serving | Percent Daily Value | |
---|---|---|
Calories | 10 | |
Total carbs | 2g | 1% DV |
Dietary Fiber | 1 g | 4% DV |
Magnesium (dimagnesium malate) | 50 mg | 12% DV |
Potassium (potassium citrate | 250 mg | 7% DV |
Other ingredients listed are Natural flavors and silica. They don’t say what the natural flavors are.
Dimagnesium Malate
This is the form of magnesium used in It Works Greens. Basically, magnesium is chemically bonded to another compound (malic acid) to increase its absorption.
Potassium Citrate
Potassium Citrate is the form of potassium used in the supplement. It’s the mineral potassium, bonded to citric acid. Like magnesium above, this may be so as to increase absorption.
Two scoops of It Works Greens provide 250 mg of potassium. One cup of spinach has over 800 mg of potassium.
Other ingredients
The Berry Flavor of It Works greens also contains these other ingredients
- Natural flavors (not sure what they are)
- Malic acid
- Citric acid
- Silica
- Rebaudioside A (this is Stevia)
These other ingredients likely play no role in any of the effects the product might have.
The Proprietary Blends
It Works Greens contains two proprietary blends containing several different ingredients. Here are the amounts contained in each of them:
- Greens Proprietary Blend has 1080mg (about 2.2 grams). It used to be 2231 mg.
- Whole Food Proprietary Blend 2 has 1475mg. It used to be 330mg.
To put things in perspective, 1 ounce of anything equals 28 grams.
The ingredients listed at the beginning are present in the greatest concentration, while those at the end of the list are present in the lowest concentration.
Greens Proprietary Blend (1,080 mg)
The Greens Blend ingredients have changed since this review was created. The table below reflects the current ingredients.
Here are the ingredients in the first proprietary blend. Read the table from left to right. This will tell you which ingredient is present most and least.
Blue green algae (spirulina) | Parsley | Barley grass |
Spinach | Clorela | Alfalfa extract (aerials) |
Matcha green tea | Watercress | Rosemary leaf |
Plantain leaf | Dandelion leaf | Lemon grass |
green tea leaf extract | Dulse |
Previously, The Greens Blend contained soy lecithin and soy protein isolate. In the new version, these ingredients were removed. Spirulina was in the previous ingredients list, too, and remains in the product's current version.
Spirulina Pacifica
This is a type of blue-green algae. Blue-green algae contain some protein. Since this is the 3rd ingredient listed in this proprietary blend, my guess is a good amount of the 2231 mg is composed of spirulina.
Eleuthero Root
Also called Siberian Ginseng, this ingredient has been removed from the proprietary blend. It's now present in the Whole Foods Blend below. See below for more information.
Bacillus Coagulans (no longer in the product)
This is a probiotic bacteria. It Works Greens contains a trademarked version called LactoSpore
Astragalus Root Extract (no longer in the product)
The scientific name is Astragalus membranaceus. There are many extracts in the root of this plant. The company does not tell what extract of Astragalus is in the supplement. That said, there have been some studies noting that extracts of astragalus can improve various aspects of the immune system.
Much of the research involves exposing cells to astragalus extracts rather than giving the herb to people.
Green Tea
They don’t tell us what extract of green tea It Works Greens contains. Is it the caffeine? Is it Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)?
Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract (no longer in the product)
This herb is often used because of its reputation to help memory although several studies have noted it does not help memory.
Aloe Vera Gel (no longer in the product)
This is the last ingredient present in this proprietary blend. As such, it is present in the lowest amount. There has been some research that aloe vera might reduce blood sugar levels.
Whole Food Proprietary Blend (1,475mg)
Here are the ingredients in the Whole Food Proprietary blend of It Works Greens. One serving of this blend provides a total of 1475mg of all these ingredients. Since pea fiber is first on the list, this blend contains mostly pea fiber Read the table from left to right to see which is present the most and the least.
Pea fiber | Apple fiber | Eleuthero root extract |
apple | carrot | Tomato juice |
orange juice | Blueberry | Rosehips |
Amla | Kale | Kale |
Plum | Ginger | Pineapple juice |
Cauliflower | Brocolli | Grape juice |
grapefruit juice | white willow | Onion |
Papaya juice | Peach | Pear juice |
Brussels sprouts | Lemon juice | Raspberry juice |
Strawaberry juice | Pumpkin | Black currant |
Goji (Lycium barbarum) | Sunflower lecithin | Astragalus root extract |
Turmeric | Meadowsweet herb (aerial parts) | Black berry fruit |
Acerola | Billberry fruit extract | Cranberry |
There are 28 ingredients in this blend of ingredients. Here are some of the more exotic and interesting ingredients.
Eleuthero Root Extract
Eleuthero is also called Siberian ginseng. There are many different compounds in Siberian ginseng.
One investigation noted that Siberian ginseng did not raise testosterone nor did it have any positive effects on the immune systems of people.
Goldenseal (no longer in the product)
Goldenseal is also known as Hydrastis Canadensis. In the past, people used to think goldenseal would help them pass drug tests. The idea was that goldenseal would mask illegal drugs from being detected in urinalysis tests. For the record, it doesn't do this.
One of the compounds in goldenseal is berberine . There is some evidence berberine may help the immune system work better. In one investigation, both Goldenseal and Astragalus (which is also in Greens) seemed to stimulate some immune system cells.
White Willow Bark
It's now called just “white willow” in the ingredients. White willow bark contains compounds that appear to “look like” aspirin and because of this, it may also be in arthritis supplements.
Pau d'arco Bark (no longer in the product)
The scientific name is Handroanthus impetiginosus. This is the bark of a tree that grows in South America and Florida. At the same time, some of the ingredients in Pau d'arco bark may have antibiotic effects. Pau d'arco bark was looked at as a possible cancer treatment in the 1960s until it was found that the amount that might help, overlapped with the amount that might cause internal bleeding. Granted, this effect was seen in amounts much more than is in this product.
My personal opinion is I wish they would remove Pau d'arco bark from this product. Update. It has been removed.
Tumeric
Turmeric is now in It Works Greens. This spice has a lot of health benefits. Unfortunately, turmeric is listed toward the bottom of the list so there might not be much in the product.
Amla
Another name for Amla is Indian gooseberry. It's very popular in Ayurvedic medicine for many reasons. It's sometimes touted to grow hair and restore hair's natural color but I doubt if that's why it's used here.
It Works Greens Questions (FAQ)
1 Is It Gluten-Free?
The promotional material I have states that Greens contain a small amount of gluten. According to the FDA, to be called “gluten-free,” products must have less than 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten. Since I don't see “gluten-free” on the label, I'll assume it has more than that amount.
2 Does It Contain Soy?
Not anymore. Soy lecithin and soy protein isolate have been removed.
3 Are The Ingredients GMO?
No, It Works Greens contain only non-genetically modified ingredients. Even the soy is non-GMO. For those wanting to limit their exposure to genetically modified foods, this is a good thing.
4 Can Kids Use Greens?
The Greens supplement is for adults only. The It Works company says not to give this product to kids.
5. It Works Greens vs. Organifi Greens
The Organifi company has been gaining popularity with its green juice powdered supplement. Unfortunately, there are no clinical studies comparing Greens to Organifi.
Does Greens Only Contain Greens?
From the list of ingredients in the proprietary blends, the supplement contains more than just fruits and vegetables. Yes, there is broccoli, spinach and kale, but it also has white willow bark and Siberian ginseng, and other things I doubt are in most people's kitchens. I mention this not to slam the supplement but just to point this out in case you thought this might be a vegetable supplement.
Does It Works Greens Alkalize The Body?
The idea of being more alkaline as a way to promote health has been around for a long time. Acid foods – such as meats and grains- are said to be bad, while eating more alkaline foods – like fruits and vegetables – are said to be good for us. The amount of alkalinity (or acidity) is measured by the pH. The pH scale runs from 0 to 14. A pH of 1 is very acidic, while a pH of 14 is very alkaline.
A neutral pH (neither too acid nor too alkaline) is 7.0.
Here’s the thing: the pH of our blood is about 7.35 to 7.45. In other words, the pH of healthy human blood is normally slightly alkaline.
So whether it alkalizes the body or not, know that your blood pH is always slightly alkaline.
It Works Greens Side Effects
The supplement is probably safe in most people. For those, not healthy here are some considerations. This list is not complete.
- Start with less than suggested for the first week
- Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- The company says to not give the supplement to kids
- Stop taking at least 2 weeks before having surgery.
- If you take any medications, speak to your doctor first.
Does It Works Greens Work?
There's no clinical evidence the supplement can “alkalize the body.” While you could use it as a “supplement” to eating food, it should not be used in place of fruits and vegetables. If you are healthy and the product starts you on the road to eating more fruits and vegetables, then I’d say that is a step in the right direction. If you are already eating this way, it's up to you whether you need it or not.
Arlene Elk says
Greens appear to be the ‘new rage’. What are your thoughts on 8Greens Effervescent Drink Tablets
Joe says
Hi Arlene, I agree greens do seem to be all the rage these days. While I always feel eating green foods is a good thing, quality made green supplements may have their place too. As for 8 Greens, let me take a look at it and see what I can figure out.
Lara says
Please forgive me if this has already been addressed.
Is there anything in Greens that may increase estrogen or introduce estrogen (plant estrogen) into the body? Many times supplements will indicate it on the label, but I didn’t see it here or on their site. I’m not knowledgeable about herbs or supplements at all.
I have a rare form of Ovarian Cancer and I can’t take any sort of estrogen because it feeds the cancer. I have a friend who has benefited from Greens, but I have to be very cautious about what supplements I take.
Thanks!
Joe says
Hi Lara, I believe you are the first to bring this up. From the review you can see that it has soy protein. soy is reputed to contain plant-based estrogens. That said I don’t know if that means the greens would effect the estrogen levels in humans. Your question is very technical and I’m not qualified to answer it. That said, why not show the ingredients to your pharmacist or if your oncologist. What does she/he think? You can print up the ingredients from this review of get it from the It works website.
Let us know what they think.
Lara, I and everyone else reading this sincerely hope you are doing well with your treatments. I will say a prayer for you today.
Jennifer says
Just out of curiosity what are your credentials to be able to write this article?
Joe says
Hi Jennifer, I have a BS in chemist and biology and a MS in exercise science. I’ve written a book about dietary supplements, and have been writing about them since the 1990s. Any other questions, just ask.
Jennifer says
This formula for the greens is now different. So this article is outdated. The new formula has sunflower lecithin not soy
Joe says
Hi Jennifer, I thank you for bringing this to my attention. If you go back to the review and refresh your browser you will see an updated version. There was more than just information on soy that needed to be updated and I have done so. You’ll notice changes to ingredients in the proprietary blends as well as their amounts too.
Hezz says
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they have compared it works greens to isagreens?? I can’t find anything comparing the two and can’t decide… thank you
Joe says
Hi Hezz, what kind of review are you looking for? A comparison of their respective ingredients?
Hezz says
Sort of.., more of a “what is better all around” sort of review. I have a list of their ingredients but they’re really very diffferent…
Joe says
Hezz, Ill add it to my list and see what I can come up with. I’ve honestly not hear of Isagreens before so I’m curious.
Hezz says
Also, since you seem to be fairly versed in this stuff as I am not… i was wondering if you knew anything about IONIX from isagenix… I take antidepressants (cipralex more soecufically) and was wondering if there would be any negative interactions between the two ?
Joe says
Hi Hezz, I have not heard of IONIX but I did glance at it online. Its got many of the usual cast of characters that super foods tend to have. Since Im not a pharmacist I cant say if there would be an interaction with anti-depressants but might I suggest you show those ingredients to your pharmacist. My guess is she/he could give you some insights on this.

Joe says
Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing that 🙂
Carol says
Hi, Ive taken the Greens for 6 weeks or so. I consider myself health conscious. I work as a medical assistant. I was recently, in the past 2yrs, experiencing fatigue and mental fog. No energy after work. My blood work within normal limits. I found It Works greens and I feel so much better ! I have more energy and can focus better! My husband noticed my energy and now he is taking it! He only will eat green beans. He’s a meat and potatoes man. So he is happy due to the energy and so am I. I am drinking more water than ever which we all know is better than sugar laden drinks. I am 51 years and now feel great and am looking forward to the future!
Gee says
Hi Carol,
Thanks for sharing your experience and your fair comparison of the two products. I had similar experiences as yours. In addition to the mental fog and fatigue, I began experiencing joint pain in hands and a shoulder. Also health conscious and in the health field I began taking regular vitamin and fish oil supplements – to combat any deficiencies. The supplements did offer some temporary relief.
A client gave me a packet of “it Works Greens on the Go” to try and I immediately (overnight) noticed the pain in my shoulder was gone. I became curious and hence I went online and ended up here on this blog to learn more. I am now encouraged to give this product a long-term try.
Hula girl says
I just tried to order Greens Berry and as I started to check out there was a warning (*) Says that this product contains LEAD. Where is the lead coming from?
Joe says
Hula girl, As I understand it, any supplement sold in California has to mention this. California has very strict rules about lead as well as other things. Its called the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, also known as “Prop 65.” The levels California consider safe are lower than the US gov limits. While lead does occur naturally in low levels, too much is not good for us esp. kids and women who are nursing or pregnant.
Joe says
It would be nice to see an update with the all new ingredients list since the Greens formula has changed since this was written.
Joe says
Hi Joe, its on my list of things to do. There is still similarity between ingredients I originally listed and what they have listed now although I do see several changes. Why do companies – and I’ve seen this with other companies- change their ingredients?
Marian says
Hi my daughter has a Traumatic brain injury and is fed by Tube. Her dietician assures me that she gets all the nutrition she needs from her formula which is synthetic. If I could give her veggies and fruit through her tube I would. Omg 3’s /6’s (fish/flax) is not allowed in case she aspirated. Is go greens FDA approved? Would it be beneficial to her? She is currently in a institute. As her parent I am not allowed to feed her!!! Do I not have rights to what I feed her? Can anyone help me? Frustrated to no end
Joe says
Oh Marian, I am SO sorry to hear about your daughter. I can’t imaging what you must be going through. I wish I had some answers for you on this. the FDA doesn’t really “approve” supplements although there is some regulation. Still, my hunch is it might be a challenge to use this with your daughter given what you have said. Even if you could I cant say whether or not it would help your daughters condition. I wonder if there is a patient/family advocate who can help you with this situation? If nothing else, maybe they could point you to family support groups? I have to think the stress you are under is tremendous.
I will say a prayer for your and your daughter tonight.
Tamara says
I’m hearing that the Greens on the Go is caffeine free but I see it contains Macha Green Tea which I thought was caffeinated and would love to know if it contains caffeine. Or not.
Joe says
Hi Tamara, since green tea has caffeine naturally, I’d expect Macha green tea (which is ground up green tea leaves) to have caffeine too, unless it has been removed. I looked at the nutrition info for greens to go, on the it works website and didn’t see mention of caffeine (present or not). I found greens on the go on Amazon too but when I looked, I saw people saying it did /didn’t have caffeine.
I’d call the company to find out for sure.
Does anyone else know about the caffeine in greens on the go?
Angie Queen says
I can send you the new list if you’d like. I am a distributor. If you wanna know my experience with Greens here it is. It does alkalize body. I have been on acid reflux meds since my early 20’s. Could not eat any acidic foods without the worst heartburn. In the last year and a half, (age 46 now) I no longer take reflux meds and I can eat what I want. There are other awesome benefits…Like energy…I would not go without my Greens. Greens have ingredients with natural caffeine but no added caffeine!
Joe says
Hi Angie, yes that would be nice. If you have a pdf list you can email me from the site. I’ll add it to my files. Thanks so much 🙂
Patti says
Hey Georgia and Joe, the Greens and Greens on the Go are the same product, just packaged differently. The Greens have been reformulated and are now Soy Free. They’re also gluten free, but someone already addressed that in another comment. Hope this helps!!
Joe says
Thanks Patti!! 🙂
Georgia says
I was wondering if you or someone could tell me if this on the go greens is Soy free? When I go n their site it says it is Soy free but in your review you show that there is Soy in it. I am allergic to Soy so I need to make sure about this.
Thank You
Joe says
Hi Georgia, this review is on It Works Greens. Is “On the go greens” a different supplement?
Georgia says
Go greens is just a small packet instead of the big container. But both the packets and the container say Soy free.
Joe says
Hi Georga, ok its called “greens on the go.” I wonder if they altered the ingredients since I reviewed their product? Can anyone shed light on whether It works Greens (and/or greens on the go) contain Soy now?
Tiffany Kirkpatrick says
It Works Greens and the Greens on the Go are the same formula – one is a tub the other is individual packaging. The Greens were revamped this summer and are now allergen free, soy free, dairy free and vegan too. 🙂
Joe says
Thanks Tiffany.
Laura says
The company changed their ingredients in the summer of 2016. They are now soy free and no GMO
Joe says
Thanks Laura for the heads up.
jaime says
The Greens have been reformulated. They are now soy free, non GMO, dairy/lactose free.
Kristina Brazeal says
Hey, Joe,
I’m not really smart when it comes to supplements and such, so I’m wondering if you could explain to me why a supplement that claims to give you a full day’s servings of greens (that are packed with great fiber!) only has 1g of dietary fiber?
Joe says
Hi Kristina, That is a good observation. My guess is that the basis of the claim of providing a full daily serving might be based on the phytonutrient content – but that is a guess on my part. I would be interested in learning more about this claim also. I do agree that a full day supply of veggies (5-9 servings) will have more than 1 gram of fiber.
Beth E Van Thiel says
well it could be that you are not actually getting the fibrous content of the actual fruit/vegetable itself, rather its contained nutrients. Thus only one gram? Im just guessing here, as I am a bank Teller and a mom, not a scientist.
Joe says
Hi Beth E, that would be my guess as well. Sometimes being a mom and asking good questions, like you did, is better than being a “scientist”:)
Rosa Moralez says
Wow! I want to thank you first of all for your honest review on the Greens, it helped me so much.
And I read through all the comments and would like to thank you all too. I love the Greens to go and now it also has Matcha Green Tea, a natural detoxifier for the body.
Joe says
Hi Rosa, you are welcome.
Debra says
It Works Greens On The Go also clearly represent they have 1 gram of Dietary Fiber in each serving. So fiber is represented. The product does not have sugar.
Joe says
Hi Debra, thanks for pointing that out to me. I’ve updated the table to include fiber. Fiber contains no usable calories that is correct.
Shantel Aiona says
Would you mind doing another review It Works JUST released a new version of Greens that is Non-GMO, Dairy Free, Allergen Free, Vegan, and with a lot more awesomeness in the new Greens <3. I am an It Works distributor and all I can say is that it changed my life and with out Greens I would be on so many different medications.
You mentioned what the White Willow Bark in your review. I believe that that ingredient alone has helped me with my Sciatic pain and my headaches.
Thank you,
Shantel
Joe says
Hi Shantel, I may circle back at some point but right now Im backlogged with reviews. Thanks for the heads up that they have a Non-GMO, dairy free vegan and allergen free product. Im sure that will be of help to those looking for those things in a supplement.
LC says
I started using the Berry flavored Greens on the Go & loved the product. I have never found a “greens” product that I could stand the taste of. However, I recently noticed that one of the ingredients in the blend is Goldenseal. I have always read that Goldenseal should not be taken on a daily basis. It should only be taken for about 2 weeks & then stay off for 2-3 weeks. Perhaps the amount is so negligible that it is not a factor but that now concerns me. I am back looking for another “green” product that I like. Haven’t found another one yet.
Joe says
Hi LC, have you considered making your own? Just toss some fruits/veggies in a blender and drink that.
Jas says
See I was told that it works greens was going to help me loose weight didn’t help I also was told the cleanse would help as well to get rid of the bloading also I saw no change 🙁 so it was a little upsetting ..
John says
As an Independent Distributor for It Works I would like to thank you for your review of the Greens. I too was skeptical of the products prior to trying all of them. My wife and I became distributors because of the benefits that we experienced from the products. We take the Greens daily and also double our intake during cold/flu season.
Prior to taking Greens, I would get sick every time the seasons changed as with most folks. I have not been sick since taking the Greens daily for the past two years. As for your comment on not giving the Greens to children; We give our two school-aged kids Greens when children at their school start getting sick. We noticed that they do not tend to get sick when we do this. We don’t give it to them every day, not because of negative side effects but because they do not need the extra energy (they have plenty).
My wife also takes Greens while breast-feeding which has had a noticeable increase in her milk production. We have not noticed any negative side effects with her doing this. Please note that any reputable supplement will have the “Consult your doctor before taking” label. I have also seen this label on herbal supplements, such as ‘Milk Thistle’, most nursing consultants/doctors prescribe for increasing breast milk supply. (The following was taken from WebMD’s website on ‘Milk Thistle’: Special Precautions & Warnings: Pregnancy and breast-feeding: There is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking milk thistle if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.)
Beware of It Works products sold on Amazon and buy from an authentic Independent Distributor. I tell everyone this because it has been my experience when talking to customers who purchased It Works product from individuals on Amazon that the products were expired (yes there are expiration dates).
I have several customers who first tried products they purchased through Amazon and found this out the hard way. They were surprised to find this out. They were also glad they did not judge their results from the expired products. My advice to everyone is to not base your opinions off of Amazon reviews because of this.
Again, thank you for your review of It Works! Greens.
John
Joe says
Hi John, you are very welcome and I thank you for sharing.
Bill B says
I bought it from an Independent Distributor for It Works, and both Greens and New You, which I committed to for 3 months, were garbage,
Cody Scoggins says
It Works is a money scam. People who sell it are the only ones who say it works. It’s just like the supplement companies in the bodybuilding/fitness community. Get some sleep, exercise, and eat wholesome foods instead of blowing money on this crap.
Laura says
Cody,
We wouldn’t be selling it if it dint work!! I’m sorry if you had a bad experience, but please don’t assume we are a “scam” because of it.
Leigh says
We have been using ItWorks Greens for 1.5 years now and my husband has always had horrible stomach issues and higher blood pressure. Since starting the Greens he has had one stomach flare up, he has more natural energy and his BP is lower and within normal range.
I have seen and heard amazing testimony from people who use the Greens. I’m talking life changing. We eat healthy and are active and yet my husband still had those issues. Bottom line is our bodies do not get the required nutrients it needs. The Greens also help detox. I beg of you to please not base your opinions on Amazon reviews. ItWorks! Is an amazing company with amazing people just trying to help change lives for the better.
Helping people get healthy and some are even able to get off prescription meds, like myself, thanks to the greens and ItWorks vitamins and supplements. Of course not everyone is going to agree with this, but I wanted to give my open honest opinion on the products that have helped change our lives.
Jamie says
I noticed you mentioned the sugar content, but In your conclusion, you didn’t mention it again. They say there is stevia extract. But considering vegetables and especially fruit have natural sugar, I jump to the conclusion that the greens HAS to have sugar on it. Can you please elaborate on this? Thank you so much!
Joe says
Hi Jamie, you are correct and I was thinking about that also. I’m not sure why sugar is not listed on the nutrition facts label. My guess is the amount is any sugar present is naturally occurring.
Danielle says
Hi. There are 2 mg of natural sugar in each serving of greens. You can find that info here as well as some other useful info: http://www.myitworksproductcoach.com/
Joe says
Thanks Danielle
Rita says
What about the level of lead in the ingredients?
Joe says
Hi Rita, I dont have any info on lead in the product. Have you heard anything about this?
Laura Libner says
I was going to purchase some through a good friend at work who is distributing them and doing great on them- as are many other employees who work with us…however, right at the last minute, I had a second thought because I am undergoing chemotherapy and am halfway through treatment… and need one more surgery when I’m done. since I read on your thoughts that there are some blood thinning properties, I thought I better wait and discuss it with my physician..
Joe says
Hi Laura, I think thats wise.
Leigh says
Always discuss these products with your doctor before taking. You can ask your friend to print you out an ingredients list to take with you to you Doctor. I’m sorry for what you are going through.
K says
I have celiac disease and barley and malt are forms of gluten. I also wonder about the black walnut for people that are allergic to nuts.

Hi K, I just saw this about celiac and thought it might help you:

It works changed the Greens and are now gluten free. I am a registered nurse and an independent distributor for it works. I have been taking the greens for 2 months. I got to tell you I have never felt better and I am 51 years old. I no longer have heartburn and my IBS, and colitis are way under control. My stomach no longer hurts and my bowel movements are normal to me. Meaning I no longer have constipation or diarrhea. It has changed my life so much I am outside playing with my grand kids. I have not been able to do that in years.
Joe says
Hi Brenda, Thanks for the heads up on this. I’ve updated my review. I checked the It works site and the information sheets say that greens orange and berry flavors are “formulated with gluten free ingredients.”
Tanya says
Thank you for your reviews! I have been using the greens and can’t say I feel a difference but I like the natural ingredients and it’s better than flavoring my water with sugar filled, fake powders! I did buy wraps-haven’t tried. Going in with a pretty low expectation-saving for a party in the summer. That being said, I haven’t tried any other product but just exercising and eating right! Thanks Tanya, I’m glad you found my words helpful. Let me know what you think of the wraps when you try them.
Sarah says
Do you know if the wraps are all natural?
Joe says
Hi Sarah, I don’t know. As you may be aware, there isn’t any official rule -yet – about companies claiming something is natural or “all natural.”
Leigh says
When you use the wraps make sure you drink half your body weight in ounces of water everyday for 72 hours after you wrap. If you don’t drink the proper amount of water you will not see the results you want. Also, please keep in mind that wraps are to tone tighten and firm. They will help you lose inches, but they are not meant for weight loss or water weight. I hope this was helpful for you.
Joe says
Hi Leigh, if if the wraps are not meant for weight loss or water weight loss, then how do people lose inches?
Ali says
They tone, tighten & firm the skin, which helps lose inches.
Joe says
Thanks Ali 🙂
