Updated 10/11/24. Let’s talk about homeopathic HCG also referred to as HCG drops. These are homeopathic supplements that are used for weight loss. HCG stands for human chorionic gonadotrophin, a hormone made when when a woman is pregnant. The original HCG diet has been around for several decades. The HCG program that uses HCG drops is a relative newcomer to the weight loss arena but is extremely popular in some circles. Basically, these products are said to contain diluted amounts of the hormone that are taken under the tongue with an eye dropper. Do HCG diet supplements work? Do they have any side effects? Let's look at the science and try to make sense of all this. Also, see the review on HCG injections for more information.
1 How The HCG Diet Works
The HCG diet works almost the same as the original version used by Dr. Albert Simeons. It consists of the following:
- Taking HCG and
- Eating only 500 calories per day
The only difference is that Doctor Simeons recommended injections of the HCG hormone. Homeopathic HCG supplements you find in the store are not meant to be injected. Rather, you place them under your tongue to absorb them.
According to those who sell HCG supplements, the hormone reduces appetite and helps you lose weight while helping you maintain your muscle mass. However, I could not locate any proof that people taking sublingual HCG maintain muscle while they lose weight.
Let me be clear: the HCG diet WILL cause weight loss. But, the weight people lose on this diet is NOT because of the hormone. Rather, people lose weight with the HCG diet because they eat 500 calories per day. Watch this video to see the research.
HCG Diet Review
Many websites that sell homeopathic HCG drops speak about the work of Dr. Simeons, but they usually don’t tell you that Dr Simeons used
HCG injections. Doctor Simeons did not use HCG drops.
Because homeopathic HCG may contain small amounts of alcohol, recovering alcoholics should not use these products if they believe it may interfere with their recovery.
Remember. The people who sell homeopathic HCG drops love to tell you about Dr. Simeon's weight loss protocol and his HCG research. BUT Dr. Simeons did not use homeopathic HCG drops.
Let's discuss three reasons why Dr. Simeons did not use homeopathic HCG, and by doing so, you will know why this HCG program cannot possibly work.
2 What Are Homeopathic HCG Drops?
Homeopathy means taking a substance (in this case, HCG) and diluting it over and over with water. This dilution continues until the final dilution contains none (zero) of the original substance.
This means that homeopathic HCG has no HCG. Rather, HCG drops are just water (sometimes other things like vitamin B12 are added but this other stuff usually has no weight loss effect). Here is my review of vitamin B12 and weight loss if you want more info.
Some people say that homeopathic HCG stings when its placed under the tongue. This may be because of the alcohol or other ingredients in homeopathic HCG.
The final homeopathic dilution is said to contain the “memory” of the original substance. The “memory” of the substance is what is supposed to be the active ingredient in homeopathic preparations.
How can an inert substance like water contain a memory? This makes no sense from a scientific point of view. Fact. Nobody who sells HCG drops can show you clinical proof that their product has a memory of HCG. Ask them, and you will see that I am right.
3 What Is HCG Made Of?
HCG is a hormone made of protein. When we eat protein-rich food, like chicken, the protein is broken down into the amino acids that make up the protein.
This is why chicken isn’t absorbed in the body as chicken. The same is true for HCG drops. When you take HCG by mouth, the protein that makes up the HCG is digested and absorbed as individual amino acids.
The amino acids that HCG is made of are used to do whatever the body needs to do. After they are absorbed, the body does not reassemble those amino acids back into the HCG hormone.
4 Homeopathic HCG Drops Proof
To determine if homeopathic supplements containing the HCG hormone worked, I searched the National Library of Medicine (pubmed.gov), a list of millions of studies from around the world. I searched this database using these terms:
- HCG drops
- HCG drops and weight loss
- Oral HCG
- HCG supplements
- homeopathic HCG
- Homeopathic human chorionic gonadotrophin
- Human chorionic gonadotrophin drops
- Human chorionic gonadotrophin supplements
None of these terms or phrases revealed any clinical studies. The only studies I did see were for the original HCG diet.
Websites that market sublingual HCG drops often talk about how they are “FDA Approved,” but this doesn't mean the FDA says homeopathic HCG drops cause weight loss. Update. The FDA now says HCG Drops are illegal.
The FDA-approved statement only means that the company has met the homeopathic medication requirements that the FDA stipulates. These requirements include listing the dilution, and instructions for the safety and purity of the product. Here is more on FDA conditions for homeopathic medications.
On March 9, 2011, the TV show Nightline did a story on homeopathic HCG and weight loss. They made a good point when they revealed that the FDA requires HCG labels to state that several clinical trials since the 1970s have shown HCG does not help weight loss.
As I revealed in my review of HCG injections, the research goes back to the 1950s, and ALL of that research is on injections of HCG. 99% of those clincal trials also revealed that it didn't work.
5 Can HCG Raise Testosterone Levels?
One of the claims for HCG weight loss protocols is that it stimulates the production of testosterone, an anabolic hormone that helps build muscle. There is some evidence that HCG can raise testosterone levels. But the evidence is for injected HCG. What about taking the HCG hormone by mouth? There appears to be no good proof taking HCG supplements can raise testosterone levels in people. Weight loss is known to raise testosterone. Is it possible that elevations in testosterone via the HCG diet are due to simply eating fewer calories?
6 Can You Purchase HCG Drops In Stores?
Local shops like Walmart and others may sell homeopathic human chorionic gonadotropin. If you go shopping for them, look at the labels carefully. Some supplements may contain additional ingredients such as caffeine, arginine, green tea, chromium and African Mango.
If you see this, the question to ask yourself is: if HCG drops really worked so well, then why do the supplements need those additional ingredients?
7 FDA And HCG Supplements
In 2013, the FDA stated that homeopathic HCG products are illegal. Both the FDA and FTC also sent letters to companies that make these products, telling them that they are illegal too. letters and warnings aside, I have still seen HCG weight loss remedies sold at health food stores. But what you see in stores may not be the HCG hormone. What is it, then? See the next section.
8 HCG Weight Loss Supplement Remedies
Since the FDA and FTC have clammed down companies that sold homeopathic HCG products, a new line of supplements has cropped up that contain “HCG” on the label. Do they contain the HCG hormone?
No.
Most of these supplements contain ingredients that raise the body's natural production of HCG. Supplements like these may be identified by words such as an HCG activator or an HCG catalyst. Others may contain “drops” in the name of the product.
These supplements do not contain HCG hormones but rather ingredients that are supposed to boost HCG production. Supplements said to boost HCG production may contain ingredients like:
- L ornithine
- Beta-alanine
- L carnitine
- Maca
- glutamine
- Rhodiola
Whether or not these ingredients effectively raise HGC hormone levels in people needs more study.

10 HCG Weight Loss Side Effects
I know the HCG drops and Doctor Simeons diet protocol is lauded and criticized. Here are some things to consider if you embark on this weight loss protocol. This list is not complete:
Eating only 500 calories per day may lead to the following:
- Muscle loss
- Hair loss
- Reduce wound healing
- Dizziness
- Lack of energy
As we learned from the study of former contestants of the Biggest Loser TV show, rapid weight loss may lead to lower metabolic rates. That's not to say the HCG weight loss program would do this too. It's something to consider for those who tend to gain and lose weight regularly.
Don't use the HCG weight loss program while pregnant or breastfeeding.
Stop using HCG drops/HCG injections at least two weeks before having surgery.
One report has possibly linked HCG drops to deep vein thrombosis (blood clots). This stems from a 64-year-old woman who was taking 20 HCG drops per day under the tongue for weight loss. Two weeks after she started HCG, her symptoms started. Given the complexity of the human body, it's hard to know if HCG was linked to her blood clots.
Obviously, without clinical studies on HCG supplements, it's challenging to know what the side effects – if any- might be. Use this as a guide to discuss with your doctor whether an HCG weight loss program is right for you.
11 Does The HCG Diet Work?
Logic tells us that people lose weight with HCG drops because they are only eating 500 calories per day. That said, does this mean HCG drops don't help at all? As seen in the comments below, some people swear this stuff works. While I take them at their word, I still feel we need clinical studies to know.
Even if you don't believe it's all about the calories, before you spend your $40 – $60 a month on HCG supplements, ask the person selling the product if they have any clinical proof that homeopathic HCG drops – plus eating 500 calories per day – causes more weight loss than ONLY eating 500 calories per day. Don't accept Dr. Albert Simeons' research because he didn't use HCG drops. He used injections of HCG.
CONFUSED! Someone I know who was heavy came into my work and I grilled him on how he lost his weight. He said a friend told him about hcg drops and he tried it and lost 45 pds in 42 days…on hormone free drops. IF THE DROPS contain no real HCG how in the hell did this guy stay on and lose the weight on a 500cal diet for 42 days? I dont get it, but im going to try it myself cuz there seems to be more than meets the eye here.
Perhaps the amino acid formula with Irvingia Gabonensis is such an appetite suppressant for some ppl they end up not hungry? Can you shed some light on this? the ingredients are the 200mg Proprietary HCG active 8 and african mango extract, L.ornithine L-carnitine Arginine beta alanine rhodiola astragalus, and water and 20% usp gr.alcohol.
Frank, I really wish somebody would a new study on the HCG drops. people have said it works and I honestly just dont understand how. As for the formula with Irvingia Gabonensis (African Mango), here is my african mango review for more info.
I think Joe has a very good point, and all the pro-HCG comments kept ignoring it.
Great that a diet is working for some people, I understand how frustrating it can be, cause i’ve been through it myself. I am in the mind set that it doesn’t matter whether something (supplement/treatment etc) is illegal, or has scientific proves, as long as it helps me to shed some weight it is good enough.
But it is not as easy. Laxatives works great for a lot of people, but most people on this post probably wouldn’t want to go down that path.
Coming from a medical background (not doctor, but pharmacist), I am dealing with curious customers asking about our points of view all the time. However, I can’t just say to them not enough evidence but give it a go, a lot of people say it works. Cause we first must DO NO HARM. Even if it is something I, myself, is willing to try, I cant tell my customers the same base on the data/studies I have read. Its UNETHICAL. (sorry about the shouty capitals) So my concern is, why do so many doctors/clinics in America use/recommend HCG?
IF, the drops are really such a great diet aid, like joe said, how hard its is to carry out a study?
Don’t call me skeptical, I personally have tried African mango and green coffee bean extract (with the limited evidence and how they help with weight loss) with no results. I had already got my weight down to healthy range through diet and exercise, and tried them out of curiosity and to see if I could lose some more weight.
Another colleague that tried the green coffee bean extract with me at the time was huge, and he seemed to have good results. But in my case I lost 10kg from brisk walk daily (10 minutes here and there, didn’t stress out too much but tried to squeeze in extra mins whenever possible to an average of 30 minutes daily) and portion control in the first couple of month, and afterwards proved to be a lot harder. Neither African mango or green bean extract (I was taking Svetol) helped. At the end it was resistance training and low carb diet (so more exercise and strict diet, not supplements), that got rid of the final few kgs for me.
After wasting a considerable amount of money, I believe that lifestyle changes is the way to go.
I really don’t see the logic behind these sites. Fact is, that HCG not only has a predictable routine, it forces you to learn proper eating habits while producing a weight loss result very rapidly. This bull about it making you gain back weight is bogus; IF you inform yourself completely, and change your lifestyle, you do not gain anything back.
I’ve done the HCG injections 3 times, two of which were experiments. I did it to gauge reaction and dependability. You know what I found? HCG follows a very strict routine, and rolling off of it by cheating produces a rapid weight gain. Despite this, it was predictable and online information was accurate.
I’ve lost well over 30 pounds doing HCG, and I haven’t gained anything back. If anything, the fact that I’ve had it happen successfully, 3 times in a row, is fact enough for me, despite what you and a bunch of other journalists seem to say based on what you’ve researched.
Spy, I think you just proved me right with what you said. You tried the HCG diet 3 times and lost weight. But what did you also do… you curtailed what you ate. In fact, from what I gather from your words, you very strictly cut back on what you ate.
In science the simple answer is often the correct answer and the simple answer is that by reducing the calories you ate, produced the weight loss.
Spy, I’m not trying to slam you here. I’m really not. I am very glad when people find a weight loss program that works for them. My frustration is what the entire HCG diet industry – and that includes ALL THE DOCTORS who prescribe this too. They make A LOT OF MONEY with HCG injections and homeopathic HCG drops. How come NONE OF THEM has ever commissioned a good study done to prove to you and me that HCG drop work better than eating less food? This is all I am saying.
I really tried to find research on HCG drops – and I couldn’t find anything. Why?
so update on this whole thing it has been a little over two weeks on the diet so far Ive lost 11 pds and very happy about it. Not going to lie the diet sucks because there is so very few options when it comes to cooking in the second phase than again i don’t eat fish so that takes away half my menu. Its a bitter sweet diet so im happy with the progress at the same time lunch and dinner is getting boring some new ideas would be great thanks!
I just purchased a bottle of homeopathic hCG drops. I’ am going to start them tomorrow and I’m excited. I hope they live up to the reviews. I’ am going to follow the diet to the T because i really am wanting to see if they work so i can share my story. I understand how it is to spend money on something and basically waste it!
I hate spending money because i work to hard for it to waste so with that being said it took me a while to swallow my greedy outlook on my money and buy these drops. I will let you guys know! Oh, and if you guys would honestly let me know how well they’ve work i will love to hear your story 🙂
Hello Ruth, Jessica, Laura
Please respond I need some advice (and yes I read the other comments) but I would like to try this for myself. I believe that this can work for me but the only problem I am having is putting together meals?
For the people this did work what did you eat everyday for lunch and dinner ? did you make recipes because their recipe guide for easy hcg which is the best hcg on the market right now, is for stage three not stage two, so before I start this also keep in mind I don’t eat fish or game, so its pretty much chicken and beef for me, what did you do to make lunches or dinner for yourself without getting so sick of it you gave in?
Please I really want this to work I have always had a terribly low self esteem and at the end of my rope here. I am 23 years old and worrying about diets I just want to lose bout 25-28 pds and keep it off.
By the way the person sticking to his guns about having time to properly eat right food and be fit is awesome and all but I am in college work a full time job have homework am commuter student blah blah so I don’t have the leisure of a 9-5 job that gives me time to play with my diet so stop with the pep talk not everyones life is so easy.
Thank you for those who can help.
Can someone tell me where can i find the hcg homeopathic drops. I have been searching but not sure where to buy it from
I have been on the pro hcg with irvingia for 5 days and lost a total of 11lbs thus far… I don’t really care what’s in it, all I care about is the fact that it works for ME.. Being mom to three young boys it’s easy to eat chicken nuggets or French fries or ice cream.. But since starting this diet I now look at the calories on everything…the instant results are what help me do keep doing this.. And I will continue to do it for the sake of my boys and my health..anyone that doubts it has not tried it.
I believe you must do this either with your doctor’s approval and or along side a physician natural or otherwise working with you! In 7 days I have lost 7.5 lbs! My Doc and I do a weekly urinalysis and adjust my diet accordingly based on that result. It’s monitored and strategic…nothing has worked in years before this! Oh and never tired or feeling sick either! Can’t wait to see what 30 days looks like!
I am on round 3 of homeopathic HCG. First round summer of 2011 using one called HCG Platinum X-30. It contains no HCG. My understanding of this product when I started it was the company claims these drops contain a combination of amino acids that make the body create HCG and thus lose weight from the fat stores.
I did the 500 calories a day for 40, cheated on this diet about once every 9 days and lost 25 pounds for my wedding day. I looked fabulous, and I felt great. After that I didn’t really do the maintenance and with being a newly wed and through the holidays I gained most back and started a new round in Jan 2012.
This time I went to get the same product, it had changed and the old formula was no longer available. Now it’s called HCG Platinum x-30 Plus. Added some things for energy supposedly, and removed their statement about the amino acid combo causing our bodies to create our own HCG.
Now the statement is that it reduces hunger and supports energy during the vlcd, didn’t see mention of the magical amino acid formula that causes the body to create it’s own hcg anymore as well as a major approach change that wouldn’t seem successful to me, like taking it 2X daily not 3…
This is very disconcerting to me and I was skeptical. I was terrible on that round for cheating but still ended up losing 17 pounds. After several stressful life events that followed including buying a new house and the suffering and death from cancer of a very close family member, I ended up gaining back most of the weight again.
Now I am on Round 3 week 2 of this new formula once again. I cheated once and it set me back 5 pounds or approx. 5 days. So far I’ve lost 11 pounds. Since doing the first round I have been very aware of the sugars I consume. I also have been working out 4 times a week cardio and weights, however, I do less during exercise during this diet so as not to send my body into starvation mode.
My health has improved a lot in the last year, I do have more muscle than the 1st round due to the inclusion of weight training this time. I have more energy, but I also go to bed early, as a matter of fact it helps me to sleep really well, and I have never been a good hydrator, but I have been since the first round, I drink 2 32oz bottles a day usually.
So I understand the skepticism about homeopathic stuff. I really believe the FDA told them they had to change their statements because they had not been evaluated by the FDA. Does it mean it’s not true necessarily. It also means it could be BS. It is however the only diet, including exercise and balanced diet, that has worked for me. I don’t seem to have the will power to watch what I’m shoving in my mouth without strict rules like this diet has, as well as the added bonus of quick results keeping me motivated and the short period of time on the diet.
My plan this time is to complete the maintenance which supposedly resets the hypothalamus, but I’m not counting on it curing my weight issues. I would likely have to have hypnotherapy and an electric shock every time I salivated to get me to stop binge eating.
I have lost 15 pounds in 14 days and am feeling great (my goal is to lose 60 pounds). My doctor prescribed the diet for me and a compounding chemist made up the preparation. I am not in America. Although I started at 207 pounds I have always eaten a diet rich in nutritious food including vegetables, fruit and meat. For the last 16 years I have been gluten-free because of Coeliac disease. I am also allergic to soy and lactose intolerant.
My doctor explained to me that my obesity was contributed to by my adrenal and thyroid imbalances and insomnia and anxiety. I have always exercised! My deadlift is 220pounds and I can walk for hours and row at a decent pace! I trust my doctor (she is registered and well respected).
I have a science degree and agree with you Joe that research and evidence is important. But weight loss is really important for my health and I’m sure as hell not going on diabetes or cholesterol meds or any other pharmaceuticals for that matter (consequence of multiple bad drug reactions).
So HCG is a good fit for me! The most interesting thing for me is that normally I can’t fast at all, skipping breakfast usually results in headaches and severe nausea. I’ve actually collapsed and ended up in hospital when in the past I went 24 hours without food.
Doing this VLCD of 500 calories and the HCG drops for the past 2 weeks I haven’t had a headache or felt weak at all and I haven’t been hungry or had cravings!! I doubt very much that it is just mental!
I hate it when people who have NOT tried a product knock it!! Try it for a “round” without cheating, etc. THEN write an article. I bet you won’t be writing the same ol’ story!
I know SCORES of people who have dropped the weight (some over 100#) AND kept it off. (Some for years). This is a great program to help people, not only lose weight, but learn how to eat without sugars, flours, or processed foods, etc.
Most people I know have never returned to the way they “use” to eat. I eat REAL food (meaning farmed organic veggies, fruits, and grass fed organic meats). Most people return to eating many more than 1200 calories a day and yet, do not gain the weight back because they are not eating “junk” any longer.
I lost 38# to a size 6 and I STILL (a year later) wear a 6. I am an RN. I never once doubted that I was doing something positive for my health. My husband was so impressed by my daily weight losses that he joined me and lost about 50 pounds, himself!
Why trash a program you have never even tried? Is that even logical or ethical? I think not…..
Vivian,
I’m glad the hcg diet worked for you – I really am. For me though I need more than testimonials. I need a plausible biological mechanism and more importantly I need a peer reviewed study published in a credible medical journal. As a nurse, I’m sure you can appreciate my position. I know you would not recommend /prescribe a drug to one of your patients based only on people who said it worked for them.
Has anyone even shown that the hch hormone is in hcg supplements? if not, how might it work? Hormesis response?
My question still is why has no hcg company – or doctors with hcg clinics (who have the patient population) – ever done a study using say, 50 people :
1/2 get hcg and 500 calories a day
and
1/2 only get 500 calories per day?
This diet has been around for decades… so why has it not been done?
And just to be fair, my criticism goes out to the whole scientific community too. None of them, seems to have addressed this question. Why? Office /lab politics? fear of being mocked by peers? I hope not because that’s not the science I hold to.
Again, I’m happy its helped you and your husband. I just need facts I can analyze.
Vivian, THANK YOU! What an awesome post, and congratulations on you and your husband’s weight losses with homeopathic HCG! I’m trying this for the first time, and I’m down about 6lbs in as many days so far. NOTHING ELSE has worked for me in the past now that I have type 2 diabetes, and HAVE TO GET THE WEIGHT OFF!
If people cannot wrap their brains around homeopathy, then they will never believe that this works. That’s their problem! Holistic practitioners use homeopathy. The Queen of England and her Mum use homeopathy, as does most of Europe and Canada! FIRST DO NO HARM is the credo-seems to me many allopathic docs have lost sight of their promise to help and not harm! And I won’t even mention the FDA and Big Pharma-they are corrupt and have no interest in helping heal because it’s all about the money with them!
Homeopathy works! It’s Quantum Physics. Get a good book on this and maybe you can stop asking the same question over and over, Joe!
Marlene,
I’ll grant you that “the money is in the medicine” and not the cure (e.g. hardly anybody tells people with type II diabetes that it can often be cured) http://www.joe-cannon.com/interview-yolanda-bowles-diabetes-exercise-nutrition-cure-type-ii-diabetes/
I’ll never depreciate somebody who says HCG or homeopathy helped them because I’m truly glad for them. The scientist in me, just wants to learn how it worked – some chemical pathway etc that makes sense from a scientific perspective.
Marlene, I have not spent a lot time delving into homeopathy so I’m not an expert on the research. Because of that, I’m going to ask you to help me out and educate me. You obviously have spent more time researching homeophathy than I am so I’m sure you have seen the research. Can you help me out by showing me a study published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal within the last 15 years showing that homeopathy helped people significantly better than a placebo in a double blind study? Remember, I’m looking for research studies and not books.
If you can help me out, I’d really appreciate it. You would be saving me a lot of leg work.
Dear Marlene,
I’m happy you feel better after taking a homeopathic remedy. I think Joe also makes some interesting points as well in his response to you. Homeopathy is one of those things where many people tend to believe it because they want to believe it, irrespective of whether or not there is any objective peer-reviewed evidence. That the Queen of England used it really doesn’t verify anything since she is, after all, not a trained scientist.
Please understand that the “INTENTION” of getting better is often as effective as any real treatment. That is, you could have a cold which will resolve on its own within several days. However, you go to the doctor with an expectation that you will get better. If he provides you with some vitamins and rehydration fluid, they will make you feel comfortable but will unlikely yield any real effect on the virus (which has to run its course anyway). As you begin to feel better in a few days, you may inadvertently ascribe the improvements to the vitamins and fluids rather than the fact you’d have gotten better anyway.
I do believe there could be some sort of physiological improvement in those taking homeopathic remedies, but notwithstanding any legitimate independent evidence, I’m more inclined to think this is a psychosomatic effect more than anything. It can also work the other way as with hypochondriacs who actually DO feel physical pain which is propagated from their belief they are ill. It is a two way street and can work in either direction.
Regarding homeopathic HCG drops, I would suggest having a read of my post on the HCG diet which also makes further comment on the homeopathic version: http://www.drbillofhealth.com/nutrition/hcg-diet-review-does-it-work-no-evidence-for-safety-and-efficacy/ .
Best wishes in your health pursuits.
Kind regards,
Bill
So… even if there is only a psychological reason why hcg drops work – why would people bag them? Because they are too expensive – I think going to psychologist and getting the psychological help is much more expensive.
Placebo effect might be dangerous at serious illness where the effects are temporary, but in this case, people are loosing weight.
It’s said that it takes 21 days to form a habit. Is it a coincidence that the diet is 21 days as well? And another 21 days for the maintenance part of it? Probably not.
Jump starting your weight loss and keeping it off by forming new habits – I’d say hcg works – whatever the reasons.
Isn’t the whole idea that people lose weight and keep it off and not the scientific proof?
sabina, I’m really happy for people who say that hcg helped them lose weight but people saying it works is not the same as doing a scientific study and getting it published in a medical journal for other scientists -and the world – to see. HCG drops has none of that type of research which is sad because some doctors (scientists) do sell it to people. Is it the placebo effect? Im not sure. Is there really something going on as far as hcg is concerned? I’m not sure either. Im just glad people have said it helped them.
I would be interested in hearing from people who said HCG did not help them lose weight. If nothing else this might help people get an idea of what practices might help/hinder people from losing weight.
I used HCG to jump-start my lifestyle changes. I feel I lose motivation when I don’t see the weight coming off. However, with HCG drops, I got the weight off and then maintained healthy eating habits and exercise. So far it’s working.
Do you sell any homeopathic products? What do recommend instead of Hcg ? thank you
George, no sorry, i dont sell supplements. i just review them.
I’m just curious what brand of homeopathic HCG people are using?
Thanks!
500 calories per day will help anyone lose weight, right? Of course, but I wouldn’t dare try it without the HCG. It would be dangerous.
The science behind HCG is this…
The hormone comes from the urine of a pregnant woman. The function of the hormone is to take nutrition to her growing fetus. When we fat people take this hormone in conjunction with a special 500 calorie diet, the hormone is used to get the extra nutrition that we need from our own fat cells.
The 40 pounds that I lost on HCG drops was a lifesaver. Nothing else worked for me. I am so glad I used HCG.
I was on homeopathic HCG before the FDA went crazy last year and stopped the sale of it. I bought it from a reputable source on ebay. I only did 28 days with a VLCD (very low calorie diet) not 500 calories because I workout but about 700-800. I lost about 30 lbs. Now it has been a year and I gained 15 pounds back and it is ridiculously hard to lose any weight any other way besides HCG.
I’m not sure but it seems my body chemistry or perhaps my metabolism has drastically changed through HCG and also the weight came back in places I would not normally gain weight like my face and stomach. It is all so odd. I wished I had not tried it in the first place. I would have been much better off losing slower and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. For the past 3 weeks I have tried the low carb diet but not a pound lost. 🙁
Tash, very sorry to hear about that. why dont you try a consultation with a registered dietitian. They may be able to give you some idea why the low carb diet did not work. you can find an RD in your area at their website EatRight.org
I am on my 5th day of homeopathic hcg diet. I am sure this might be stated in another letter but don’t have time to read all of the comments. I just want to say that sure you can lost weight on just eating 500 -700 calories but who can do that? taking these drops has helped me to not be so fatigued and hungry. i do get hungry – and not eating breakfast still seems counter intuitive. But if followed through the maintenance phase as instructed, metabolism will be reset and unless one is a compulsive over-eater, it can remain off. The reason I went on it is I saw that it was working for other people.
Now, if I can see with my own 2 eyes that it is working, why would a study mean anything? I am not a big of studies
Joe,
Obviously, there are many people who are not able to grasp the whole homeopathic medicine world. There are also alopathic physicians who do use homeopathy. It sounds like you have some really good questions. How DOES water have a memory? There is really a lot of information out there to research if you are willing to open your mind to a form of medicine that is being used in many places, with success. It is important that people understand homeopathy before they use it.
No, of course there isn’t actually HCG in the solution. Our bodies already have a lot of power to heal without alopathic medication. If you are taking homeopathic grass, your body would adjust to it. However, if you are taking homeopathic hormones, it stands to reason that your body would find a way to be harmonious with the hormone.
Our bodies know what to do with it. So, if homeopathy stimulates subtle movement toward natural healing, great! Faith in it probably helps. So what? I do not believe that this makes it less real or true. The medical community needs to chill out and realize that people do understand what homeopathy is. If it says homeopathy, it isn’t potent and detectable. Perhaps the pharm companies would be ok with just adding that statement to the labels. Naw, who am I kidding? The risk might be that people allow their bodies to do the healing and stop taking a pill for everything.
OK, so this is about HCG. I am watching people I know loose with homeopathic HCG. They have kick-started their weight loss program with it. They seem fine. FINE! I am amazed.
Amy
In my limited experience with homeopathy, in general, I would say the safest course is to consult with a homeopathic practitioner before considering this type of therapy.
