I've finally had a chance to sit down and compile a list of Zi Xiu Tang side effects. What follows are the most common ZXT side effects that have been reported by people who commented on my ZXT reviews, Zi Xiu Tang Does it Work and Zi Xiu Tang Weight Loss Supplement Revealed. Below are the most common side effects along with the number of people who reported that side effect. I tried to count every person reporting a side effect only once but given the number of people commenting there may be a couple of duplicates. Not surprising weight loss was the most frequent side effect reported with 16 people reporting this. Keep in mind that there may be more than this. There were many people reporting side effects however I only counted 16 who specifically said it caused “weight loss”. This was followed by (again no surprise) dry mouth. While I tried to be as accurate as possible, keep in mind that this is a very unscientific review of ZXT side effects and is based only on those people who commented. If you have experienced other ZXT side effects not listed here please do mention them. Only in this way can we help people the best.
Update 4/8/14. The FDA warns people to immediately stop taking Zi Xiu Tang Bee Pollen weight loss supplements. It tested several Zi Xiu Tang products – including those that were said to be “genuine” and not counterfeit. The FDA found that the some products contained not only sibutramine, an illegal weight loss drug but some also contained Phenolphthalein, a chemical that may increase the risk of cancer. Update. 10/24/10. The FDA has determined that Zi XIu Tang contains sibutramine, an illegal weight loss drug. Here is the FDA warning about Zi Xiu Tang for more information.

Update 7/25/12. ZXT Gold has been found to contain 2 hidden drugs. Supplements should not contain drugs especially when they are not listed on the label. See the ZXT Gold Review for more info on this.

Do you have any different Zi Xiu Tang side effects?
I started taking this product a couple of years ago and the only thing I have experienced was a boost in energy and weight loss. No sleeplessness or the others. I had headaches for a few weeks but that stopped soon after I started eating better. People should also know that having a gluten allergy can also produce the same effects.
C Braggs, may I ask. Did your weight come back after you stopped taking it?
I took these pills for roughly 3 months. I am not overweight but I have always had trouble losing the last 10-12 pounds. They positively decreased my appetite and made me not even think about food. I did however feel shaky at times, slightly dizzy, couldn’t sleep too well, and had some possible depressive effects. I also had dry mouth from the pills.
I do think they work and the side effects are not horrible but after stopping the pills I did regain the weight I lost and felt better. But sometimes I wonder if the side effects are worth the weight loss bc I loved losing the weight.
If anyone has an additional opinion please let me know bc I recently have been considering starting the pills again. Just not sure if it’s worth it 100%
I am not over weight either. I am taking the pills again for the second time. The first time I took them I lost 21 pounds. I found for me if I didn’t drink snuff water didn’t work as well. But when I do the pounds really drop. Hope it works for you.
I took zi tang months ago and had some of the side effects. I stopped taking the pills and still feeling the effects. I am having issues breathing. Doctor put me on an inhaler but still not feeling better. I would not recomend this product to many bad side effects.
I have been taking this for 4 days now. The side effects I’ve experienced is dry mouth (it’s a detox, makes me thirsty for endless water which is a good thing), headaches for a couple days (take with food or start with 1 pill for the 1st 4 days, which I wasn’t told so I started with 2).
I usually have sleeping issues but this is the first week I’ve been tired at a decent time and have slept really well.
I’ve had energy after coming home from an 8 hour work day where usually I’m beat tired because I’m over weight.
I crave less sugar and salty foods and have no munchies at all which was my biggest challenge. I was put to the test last night going to the movies with my brother and niece. I barely ate any popcorn because I just want craving it. But normally, I LOVE popcorn, especially movie theater popcorn.
I took my weight and measurements on the 1st day I started it, so I can compare each week. My clothes are already fitting loosely and I have already lost over 5lbs and definitely feel way less bloated.
Bowels were more for the first couple days but slowed down after then since I was eating less. I pee a ton, more than usual. No stomach or cramping though. I do feel a little weird on it and I do get cold and hot from time to time, but I believe that’s my body detoxing. I’m still more functional than I was without it (overweight, always hungry, always eating, then no energy and tired all of the time).
My only concern and question is, is it unsafe to “detox” for several months in a row? I guess I’ll have to ask my doctor.

Kimberly, I looked up the product you mentioned and its ingredients are very similar to the original zi xiu tang – they also say it contains senna which is a laxative. feeling hot and cold are not signs of detoxing. feeling “weird’ is also not a sign of detoxing either.
My personal feelings are that the ingredients in the product you listed should not work other than having a laxative effect. Read my reviews of other bee pollen weight loss supplements for ideas of what might be happening.
I have taken these pills and the first week I had a few restless nights, I do have more frequent bowl movements. I do have more energy and I have lost a good amount of weight. I have no problem with the pills. They helped me lose weight without all the “side effect” hype.
i started taking the pills in June and I have lost 12 lbs , I have all these side effects and a lot of painful acne. I stop taking the pills for a week and all my acne went away . And I just restarted yesterday I have already 5 big acne on my chin. But I m pretty sure it just from not drinking enough water . Does it wk yes cause I have been trying to loose weight food years .
Eve, Ive never heard that acne was linked to not drinking enough water.
If you do not drink enough water your body can not get rid of what it needs to. Pores clog when when you cant sweat out the impurities. Thats like trying to flush a toilet with no water in The holding tank.
Laurie, that does make some sense on the surface. I just cant point to any study showing that dehydration leads to more pimples. I admit, this has not been on my radar. Id think a dermatologist/esthetician would be better able to answer the question.
I bought a bottle from a friend 2 weeks ago. I had extremely dry mouth and on the second week i could not sleep for 4 days straight. I stopped taking the pills because of the sleeping issues. I did lose 8 pounds in 2 weeks but i had no appetite. 2 days after stopping the pills I become very emotional and was having panic attacks.
I have high anxiety to begin with and after reading all the other comments I would strongly recommend others with any type of anxiety not to try the pills. I did see my doctor who recommended anxiety medication. After 1 week, I am just starting to feel normal again.
I just bought a bottle of this from my friend on Friday. I took 1 pill (instead of the 2 on directions) since it was in the afternoon. I recently lost 23 pounds thru body pump, sculpting and healthy eating – but can’t budge the last 5 lbs – so thought I’d give it a try.
Even with one pill, I thought my heart was going to explode out of my chest. I couldn’t sleep (which never happens – disturbing dreams) that night and tried to convince myself it was from the heat. Saturday morning, I took 1 pill very early. I just didn’t feel “with it”, was crabby and anxious and again slept poorly.
Even though I was told that zxt was “bee pollen” – I began to have my doubts. I only took a total of 2 pills – and I still don’t feel like myself. STAY AWAY FROM ZXT – What the heck is this stuff really?!?
I started to take these pills the fist of June, at first had no side affects but after 2 weeks my mouth was so dry I couldn’t swallow, then I experienced insomnia for weeks, shakiness, migraine headachs and extream moodiness. Finally after a month and a half I gave them up It has taken almost a week to start to feel more like myself. Only lost 8lbs in that time so definitely not worth it or the money spent!
I have been taking ZXT for 6 weeks now and I admit that yes I have had some of the side effects listed but this is my take on the situation. If you are properly informed when purchasing from an authorized resaler then you know what to expect.
The first few weeks of taking it you will experience some of the negative effects as your body detoxifies all the nasty crap it has accumulated over the years. It is absolutely imperative that you increase your water intake to assist in flushing the bad stuff out and stay hydrated.
Over the past 6 years I gained well over 100 pounds and topped out at 260 in mid May, I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism, colitis, and Fibromyalgia. All of these make it darn near impossible to lose weight especially when anti inflammatory and pain meds are involved. I started taking ZXT the beginning of June, 2 weeks after losing medical coverage through my Husbands work. the only other medication I now take is for my Thyroid. In the 6 weeks I have been taking ZXT I have lost 30 pounds and the only side effects I experience right now is loose bowels ( which can be attributed to my Colitis) and a complete loss of appetite.
All other side effects that pop up occasionally are my own fault completely as I often do not drink enough which cause headaches and a general feeling of illness. Get your facts straight people, quit blaming everything imaginable for your own actions, its time to step up and take responsibility for problems you create. Be informed and make well educated, INFORMED decisions that effect your health and well being.
Joe, with all do respect, I will have to kindly disagree. I have at least a dozen friends who are on this pill and of them only 2 have the loose bowel side effect. Of the 12, all 12 are losing weight effortlessly. What drug in the capsules helps this process, I do not know. However, clearly in my experience with those around me- laxatives are not the main course of this drug.
I believe whatever is in the capsule to suppress appetite is the key. That is how I can continue losing weight even on weeks I do not take it. Note to users taking it: There are a lot of counterfeit products out there! Distributors who work for the so called company make a ton of money in my area selling counterfeit pills.
You can find any real website will kindly have a link of all the counterfeit companies selling as the real deal. I buy from the same website and have shared it with those around me who have had much success in using the product as well. Be careful.
Jessica, thanks for the feedback. Other than a laxative effect I can’t figure out what makes zi xiu tang work. When the FDA found a weight loss drug in zi xiu tang, that also offered another way it might work. For me, I cant see how it works as an appetite suppressant, but I am glad you have lost weight and have had no bad side effects.
I have been taking the capsules mentioned above for 6 months. I do not take them regularly as instructed (2 pills a day). Instead, I only take here and there. Im on my second bottle in a 6 month period. I have lost 33 pounds. Diet and exercise alone never worked for me. Im grateful to find a product that does. I experienced the fast heartbeat and headaches mentioned above in the first few days of taking the pill, but like all side effects of any pill, it vanished after about a week. A lot of people I know take the capsules as well and have had great results. I feel this pill can be used for a quick fix for a few pounds. I do not promote using it for a long period of time consistently since it is not approved by the FDA and there are always negative side effects to using a weight loss drug.
I like what I had read. There will always be a side affect to any supplement…even the medications the Doctors prescribes.

If you do not know how to follow direction, learn or do not take the product. With any diet supplements, drinking lots of water is recommended. Exercising is recommended to help with the jitters and racing heart rate. Apparently most of these people does not work out or drink water. Soda is not the way to go. I bet many of you drinks soda…Caffeine!!!
FDA can be a pain if they are not making any money from companies that sell stuff. I notice they approve of Vicodin and other medications that killed people. They can not touch products that are suppose to be natural since they found actual drug in the xiu tang. That’s a problem.
Joe, I notice that you only comment on those who had a side affect that appease you. Since you are apparently against this product. You are entitle to your post and opinions. Also,you had not commented on those who did not have the side affect and something positive to say. But then again, more people like you are needed to track these things, however be open to positivity results.
Frank I don’t erase comments unless they are attacking of others or spam. You say I am against supplements but the truth is that I take some supplements myself so your argument does not hold. When it comes to Zi Xiu Tang – and other bee pollen weight loss supplements – I see no way that they can work other than what the FDA and other agencies have highlighted.

The side effects are from a COUNTERFEIT PRODUCT! Maybe try taking the real deal and you won’t experience these effects. I would love to know how much you all paid for this supplement.

Well I can post the picture from the FDA warning and a picture of the bottles I sell and you can see the difference. I understand that you want to know about the company who makes them but the counterfeit products list the same company. I can tell you that all AUTHORIZED RESELLERS MUST sell at the same price. 1 bottle $59.95, 3 bottles $114.95 or 5 bottles $169.95 anything cheaper and it’s a fake. You can not buy these in bulk without becoming a reseller, you can not buy directly from the manufacture. You can not buy these in stores, or on eBay, amazon, etc.
Kristin, I’ve seen that picture from the FDA but since Im not an expert on all the different boxes Im not sure what is counterfeit or what might not be. But lets leave out the counterfeit stuff for the moment. Can you tell me how Zi xiu tang works? If we agree for a moment that only counterfeit zi xiu tang has sibutramine – and real zi xiu tang doesn’t – then how does real zi xiu tang work?Is it the Bee pollen? Honestly, looking at the ingredients, zi xiu tang should not work – other than being a laxative.
Ive been taking ZXT for 3 years off and on,most recently for the last 2 months,I start off taking 1 per day and gradually work my way up to 2,which the last 4 days have been the 2 a day,I don’t sleep much more than 4 hours or so a night but yet I feel so focused and so able bodied that every workout of mine is beyond killer,to date i have lost 35 lbs and I am so glad I took these pills..it helped me shrink my stomach and reach an understanding of how much is just right for me to eat in a day,
I say the FDA is wrong and if cases do exist where someone experienced severe symptoms the person had underlying issues not foreseen..please note I am a 42 year old male that was diagnosed with high BP and take meds to control it and my BP has not yet been affected at all by ZXT…
Took this for a week with no problems and then started to feel all jittery so i stopped it’s been 4 days and i can barely breathe but hoping it will be better by morning if not ER here i come smh..mine were called insane aka pollen pills but think there the same
Vanessa, please keep me posted on how you are doing! As a rule for me I would not take any bee pollen weight loss supplement. I have no faith in them. Also I don’t feel good about anything with the word “insane” in the name.

Joe, thank you for all of the great information. I really do my research, but your warnings to all should be heeded. I do not need to lose weight, but like the favorable reviews I have read about bee pollen, not the capsules, but local (to me) bee pollen from a farm, that I can eat, or add to salads etc. only a 1/4 teaspoon a day right now.
I did my homework, and checked with my dr before even using this bee pollen, and honey. I hope to derive some of the health benefits, it does taste good, and I enjoy it, and trust the farm that I purchase from.
Anything that makes a person jittery, anxious, or has ill side effects should be avoided, I don’t believe so called natural products would make a person feel this way, something sounds fishy. In my experience, nothing is a substitute for good eating, exercise, and living well.
I’m highly suspicious of companies that make outrageous claims that one doesn’t have to do anything except pop a pill, and miracle weight loss is on the way. Thanks again for being so informative, and caring.

June 6,2013. I read the good and the bad, I’ve been on the pill for 23 days and I lost 21 pounds. I’ve never lost that much weight. I did not exercise and this pill worked. I am going to stop taking it because I’ve been reading the bad stuff, but I’m still confused because my gym is still selling them. My friend did 2 months and lost 45 pounds and she is fine, so again I’m confused.

Gina, stop taking Zi Xiu Tang and to to the Emergency Room! loss of feeling in a face can be a sign of a stroke. I have no way of knowing Im right or not but I would feel MUCH better if you go checked out. Please go.
I was told by a friend about these pills, and she had lost a tremendous amount of weight within a couple of months. I didn’t hear one bad thing about these pills from anyone so I started taking them. THE VERY FIRST DAY I had to stay home from school because of all the pain in my stomach and vomiting. please don’t take these pills. they ARE dangerous.
