Update 3/12/20. Juice Plus is one of the most popular whole food supplements out there. It's been around many years. In the past, I have taken it and am familiar with it. I am not a Juice Plus distributor or associated with the company. In this review, I'll attempt to answer your questions. I'll also take a look at what's out there on Juice Plus side effects. If you have a question, post it below and I'll try to help you.
Does Juice Plus Have Side Effects?
For the vast majorly of people, Juice Plus is very safe. It's just-food. I've taken Juice Plus for over a year and did not notice any side effects. Most people also report no side effects either. That said, when you have a supplement that millions and millions of people take, from time to time, some may report side effects. Below is a list of those which have been reported in medical journals
In one report, a 51-year-old woman with endometrial cancer developed liver problems after starting Juice Plus. The liver problems got better 4 weeks after stopping the supplements. Did JP cause this? This is difficult to say since this was just a report of one person who had these symptoms. Also, the person did have cancer, and this may have played a role.
Here's a short list of things to think about when taking this supplement:
- start with less than recommended for the first week to see how you respond,
- taking it with food may help absorption and reduce any GI effects you may experience,
- if you take blood thinner medicine, talk to your doctor first. Juice Plus has vitamin K. Vitamin K plays a role in blood clotting. In theory, it may reduce how well blood thinners work.
- If you take any medications, talk to your doctor. There's a lack of research in drug interactions.
- Stop taking the supplement at least 2 weeks before surgery.
Does Juice Plus Sponsor Research?
Most of the research on the supplement is supported or sponsored by National Safety Associates (NSA), the company that makes this product. This is a legitimate company that's been around since 1993. It’s because of this that some people wonder if Juice Plus is a scam. Detractors say “they sponsor their own research.” To that, I say, “if they don't do it, who will?”
I appreciate it when a company puts in the time and effort to test its supplements. I can tell you most supplement companies do not do this.
The company has said they do not influence the outcomes of Juice Plus research. Some of the people who have done Juice Plus research have had ties to NSA. People might argue this opens up the possibility of bias on the part of the researchers. That said, I am not sure how strong this argument is because some of the studies seem to contradict each other. If there was a big conspiracy to hide the truth, then the research would be in more agreement.
Bottom line: I don't think the supplement is a scam. I'm OK with company-sponsored research as long as its quality. What I see in this case is quality research for the most part.
Is It FDA Approved?
No, it's not, and here's why. The food and drug association (FDA) does not approve dietary supplements. No supplement is FDA-approved. There is FDA regulation, however. FDA Approval and regulation are different. The regulation of dietary supplements is called DSHEA. You can learn more about DSHEA on my FAQ page.
Does Juice Plus Cure Disease
No study has ever shown the supplement has cured any disease. The company that makes JP does seem to be directing its research toward showing how it can reduce the risk of disease. As Ben Franklin once said, An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
Juice Plus vs. Vineyard Blend
The flagship JP supplement contains extracts of many different fruits and vegetables, while the Vineyard Blend has extracts from different berries and grapes.
Grapes and berries are healthy and contain healthy phytonutrients like resveratrol. That said, the majority of research is on the original Juice Plus – the stuff that's been around since 1993. Personally, I'd like to see more research on the Vineyard Blend.
I'd love to see a study comparing regular JP to the Vineyard Blend to see what their differences are.
The Juice Plus Enzymes
There do appear to be enzymes added to the supplement. I don't think the enzymes add anything to the benefits of the supplement. Enzymes are proteins. Just like other proteins, the enzymes would be destroyed in the stomach. For those with digestion problems, they may help. But for most people, I'm skeptical.
What About Weight Loss?
This is not a weight loss supplement. The supplement is not promoted to help people lose weight. I've taken this supplement for up to a year and did not notice any reduction in body weight. If the supplement gets you to start eating more fruits and vegetables, then I can see how it might help. But, that's because you'd be reducing calories more than anything else.
Is It The Same As Fruits And Vegetables?
They often call Juice Plus “the next best thing to fruits and vegetables,” but this is basically a marketing slogan. It's meant to drive home the message the supplement comes from real foods. To their credit, even the company website says it's not a substitute for eating real fruits and vegetables.
One difference is the JP supplement has practically no fiber. Fiber is very important for health. Also, research notes people who eat more fruits and vegetables get fewer diseases. If taking the supplement gets you to think about eating more fruits and vegetables, then that is a very good thing.
Since its inception, there have been many green foods and other supplements out there. Are they better or different? Here's a quick rundown of some of the popular competitors.
Does It Make You Poop?
The research does not show a change in bathroom frequency, but it's possible in some people this may occur. While the supplement has very little fiber, in theory, JP may alter gut health. By altering the microbiome, more frequent trips to the bathroom may occur. This is speculation, though. If the supplement changed your bathroom trips, leave a comment below.
Does It Have Iron?
No. There is no iron added to the supplement. If its present, it's in very low amounts and due to naturally occurring mineral in the foods that make up the supplement.
Does It Contain Magnesium?
The magnesium present in the supplement comes from what is naturally found in foods. Generally, foods that contain fiber and/or are green will contain magnesium. The amount of magnesium will vary between bottles due to the supplement being a powder. Some bottles may have more or less magnesium than others.
Does It Contain Soy?
There is no soy in the flagship JP capsules or Orchard Blend. The protein powder, however (Juice Plus Complete) does contain soy. Each scoop of Complete has 13 grams of protein.
Does It Have Folic Acid?
Yes, it does. Folate – the natural form of the vitamin -is found in the supplement. The amount of folate will vary from bottle to bottle because the supplement is in powder. Juice Plus does not contain any synthetic folic acid. Folate is the natural form of this vitamin. Folic acid is the synthetic form.
Juice Plus vs. MonaVie
MonaVie is another popular food extract supplement. In my view, the biggest difference between Juice Plus and MonaVie is the research. Juice Plus has several human studies. There is less research on MonaVie. More than that, however, there seem to be no clinical studies comparing them to each other. For more insights, see:
Juice Plus vs. Juice Festive
Juice festive is another popular whole food supplement, often found at Cosco, Sames Club, etc. I'm not aware of any head-to-head comparisons between these two supplements.
See the review of Juice Festive for more information about that product.
Juice Plus vs. Texas SuperFood
Texas superfood is another whole food supplement people often ask about. Like Juice Festive, I'm not aware of any studies comparing these products to each other.
See the review of Texas SuperFood for more about that supplement.
Does Juice Plus Work?
To be honest, I like Juice Plus. It's just the extracts of several fruits and vegetables in powdered form. It doesn't have anything crazy in it, and there are various clinical studies showing it may have benefits. For me, it's the research that's most important. While it's not a substitute for eating a salad, my hope is if you take it, you'd eventually wonder what else you can do to improve your health. If this gets you to eat that salad, then it's a step in the right direction.
Anna says
Hi joe if you could shed some light on this that would be great. My friend went on juice plus and it gave him gout. When he stopped juice plus the gout went away. Thoughts?
Joe says
Anna, I’ve never heard of that happening before. Anybody else hear of Juice Plus causing gout?
Janey says
Hi, im looking into starting using Juice Plus shakes for weight loss, and was wondering if you had any info about if the weight actually stays off when you stop using it?
In the past I have done meal replacement with whey protein (whilst abusing the gym) and lost 20lbs in 6 weeks, and that weight stayed off for maybe 2 years (until I fell pregnant!).
Really I suppose Im wondering if you had any comparisons between using whey protein and juice plus for weight loss. Thanks in advance.
Joe says
Hi Janey, any weight loss shake /meal replacement can help people lose weight because they help people eat fewer calories. If you stop using the shakes and keep to eating fewer calories, the weight should stay off. if people eat normally again though, the weight will likely return.
I could be wrong but I thought the protein in Juice Plus powder was soy and not whey. Double check if that’s important to you.
Holly B says
The protein in the Complete shake is from non-GMO soy along with other plant sources.
My husband has lost 45 pounds by using the shake blended with a half banana and a bit of other frozen fruit such as strawberries or blueberries for breakfast.
He is also changing his eating habits by eating more vegetables and far less processed foods and increasing his activity.
The remarkable thing with my hubby is that he never liked vegetables. In most of our 25 years of marriage, he ate veggies only as an example for our children. Since he’s been on the Juice Plus capsules he not only like veggies, he craves them.
As far as the weight loss, he is well aware that he can not go back to old eating habits and keep the weight off. He has a new “normal” in the way that he eats. He finds that the JP Complete shakes are so satisfying that he intends on keeping them as part of his diet. Even with fruit they are only 200 calories and he simply does not get hungry until lunchtime.
Missy says
I have been on Juice Plus for about 3 years. After year 1 I decided to quit because of the expense. My sinus infections came back MAJORLY when I was off of it. I was sick all of the time. I got back on it and have not quit since. Now when everyone around me gets sick I don’t. It’s got to be the JP! I do have excessive burping from it but I am 43 and on NO medications and am VERY healthy.
If a few sailor burps throughout the day is the payment, I’m in! My son is 12 and has been on JP for 3 years as well. He is VERY healthy as well. Rarely misses school and rarely at the doctor.
Christine says
Is their a certain way u should take juice plus I take 1 of ea capsules 2x a day so like 3. Ills when I wake and 3 late afternoon
Joe says
Christine, I think you can take it anyway you like. there is no Juice Plus research that says you have to take it “this way or that way” Since there is both a fruit capsule and veggie capsule, taking a fruit and veggie in the AM and PM makes sense to me but again there isn’t any proof of which way is the “best.”
Lisa says
Hi, Joe.
I recently signed on as a distributor for Juice Plus after seeing the amazing results in my 8 year old daughter. Her energy levels have never been a problem, but her ADHD sure was. We had her on Ritalin and are weaning her off slowly now. She has better focus and a keen awareness of how to eat healthy foods… The Children’s Health Study was a great way to get her product free. I actually gave my product to my 12 year old. She has reported feeling more energized. Not exactly a scientific report, but this mom is sold.
Lisa
Joe says
Lisa, sounds good glad its helped your daughter. Im aware of their kids health study and yes its a good way for kids to get it in return for you filling out forms periodically about their health.
Tre says
Joe,
I was just talking to some ladies at church about Juice Plus last night. I’ve been doing just a little looking and reading and it just seems nothing improves upon clean eating. Discipline seems to be what everyone needs. If you were choosing what would it be….clean eating or Juice Plus? I don’t take any supplements but eat pretty well and exercise about 5 days a week. Do you take anything and what is your approach to a healthy life? It may be mentioned above but I didn’t read all of it.
Thanks ~
Joe says
Tre, I’d chose eating well over Juice Plus and if you are eating lots of fruits and veggies, then it may not be needed. What I would say is that for people who don’t eat well, then JP might be a way for people to get more of some of the healthy parts of foods into their body, and my hope also would be that it would lead those people to thinking about what else they could do/eat to be healthier.
I do take a few things but I usually don’t talk about them here because my needs may be different than others – and I don’t want to give the idea that I’m endorsing anything.
mshapiro says
I just wondered if you can tell me how to determine the intrinsic value of New Chapter vitamins and supplements and also Standard process calcifood. I need to take the BEST source of calcium, due to osteoporosis. Help?
Joe says
Mshapiro, I have not heard of those products but generally Id say look for calcium carbonate and calcium citrate. they tend to have the most elemental /bone building amounts of calcium. remember that calcium is not the only thing to look at. Do get your vitamin D levels checked (many of us are low in vitamin D). Other nutrients that play roles in bone health include magnesium and vitamin K and dont forget the exercise too! Exercise + good nutrition do the best job on beefing up bone density.
Jessica Hart says
Have you heard anything new about Juice Festiv? My coworker is a Juice Plus rep and has been trying to get me to buy it, but I found Festiv for half the price. I’ve been taking it for about a week and have been having stomach & intestinal problems every day. Blah. I’m wondering whether or not JP would do the same thing!
Joe says
Jessica, people ask me that a lot. All I can say is that I dont think Juice Festive has any research. that doesn’t mean its bad but its a feather in the cap of JP. If its a quality made product – and I have no reason to think its not – then its probably ok. Why dont you get a blood test first, then try juice festive for a month or so, and then get another blood test. see if anything changed for the better. If it does – or doesn’t – please do let me know. Im curious -as Im sure all the others who ask about juice festive are as well.
Carrie says
I would love it if you would talk about “whole food” multi-vitamins as well. I work in a health food store and was told by a New Chapter rep that all whole food multis start out with synthetics, but are then cultured and other whole food extracts added in to make them more absorbable. I was quite disappointed but I still believe they are better than, say, Centrum vitamins. What is your take on this?
Joe says
Hi Carrie, Centrum just got a good plug in a medical journal, showing that men who took centrum silver long term was associated with a small – 8% – reduction in cancer risk. Heres a link
http://vitals.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/17/14487713-daily-multivitamin-cuts-mens-cancer-risk-by-8-percent-large-study-finds?lite
That said, I would not doubt that a lot of the “whole food vitamins” sold today, in fact start out synthetic. The term “whole food” is not a regulated term as I understand it (just like nobody regulates the term “natural” or “all natural”). While I don’t think any of them will hurt people (I doubt it anyway), I dont believe any of them have any peer reviewed published evidence that they do anything. That doesn’t mean they don’t do anything healthy, but Id like to see some proof – especially if they are expensive. Juice Plus has research published in peer reviewed journals. For me, if I was going to put my money on something, that would be it since it has the research.
Ill see if I can take a look at some whole food vitamins this year Carrie 🙂
Rachel says
I am a Juice Plus rep and have been taking it for almost 14 years (since I was a teenager). I appreciate your unbiased review. It’s encouraging to see that there is someone out there reviewing based on the research, rather than opinion.
As you mentioned, no official peer reviewed studies have been done on JP during chemo or with blood thinners. However, we have many health professionals in our company (including oncologists) who recommend Juice Plus to their patients during treatment.
Here is a site http://drmitraray.com/q-a/q-and-a-juice-plus/ that explains why JP shouldn’t be of concern with blood thinners (see FAQ #20) or with chemo (see #25). We do, however, always recommend that patients discuss taking it with their doctors in either case.
With the blood thinners, they may need to retest Vitamin K levels after starting JP and adjust the medication levels as needed. If a patient’s physician doesn’t understand what Juice Plus is or has any reservations, their rep should be able to get the needed information to them, and in many cases may even be able to get them on the phone with another health professional who can address their questions. Hope that helps for those who have concerns. Thanks again for the work you do.
Joe says
Rachael, thanks I appreciate your words on this.
Shan says
I read in one of your earlier posts that said if you stacked up all the vitamins in juice plus to a multi vitamin there would probably be less in juice plus… So to clear some things up… Juice Plus is food!
Its your fruits and veggies! it’s not a supplement its whole food nutrition. By no means does this mean to stop eating your fruits and veggies and you can still take your multi vitamin if you choose.
Vitamins are man made right? They pull out a little bit of this and a little bit of that and you get some of what is in lets say an apple or orange that has been chemically processed into a vitamin…
Your body has to work really hard to break this down because it doesn’t recognize the “good stuff” from the apple or orange as what it is because its been processed into a vitamin…
The difference with eating an apple or orange or taking juice plus is that your body recognizes it as food and breaks it down as food, and you are getting all the nutrients from that apple or orange not just what they decide to place into there multi vitamin.
One thing to also know is the effects of Juice Plus can vary not everyone will feel or see the same results. Nevertheless it really does bridge the gap between what we do eat and what we should eat. Eating fruits and veggies is never a bad thing and for those of you who can and do eat your recommended 9-13 servings every day I applaud you that is not easy to do everyday consistently.
Joe says
Shan, multivitamins are designed to be consistent and have specific percentages of vitamins and minerals. Juice plus on the other hand will vary in consistency from to pill to pill and bottle to bottle because it’s basically a mixture of several different fruit and vegetable extracts.
Because there is no perfect food, juice plus will not give people all of the vitamins and minerals that they need. For example calcium; juice plus doesn’t have a lot of calcium if I remember correctly.
Just as there is no such thing as the “perfect food” I think juice plus is best to used alongside eating foods. Since it is derived from food, is classified as a food, but it’s really not the same thing since juice plus , for example, doesn’t have all the fiber foods has.
Also you’re limited to only the fruits and vegetables that are included in juice plus. But there are other fruits and vegetables out there that JP doesn’t have. That’s why I recommend still take a multivitamin alongside juice plus.
Jennifer says
I am thinking of starting on Juice Plus and wondered if you have any comparison to Visalus and their shakes and supplements? I current do 2 meal replacements daily of the Visalus shakes and take their Vi-Pak. Thanks.
Joe says
Jennifer, so far I have not reviewed the juice plus shake. Its on my list though.
Tera says
Did you ever compare Visalus to Juice plus as a shake? I currently am trying to decide on these 2.
Joe says
Tera, I never did compare them together but I do have a review on the Visalus Shake. Here is my review on it
http://supplementclarity.com/visalus-review-vi-shape-visalus-supplements-body-by-vi-challang-weight-loss/
Jill says
Can or should juice plus replace a daily vitamin?
Joe says
Jill, I would still take a daily multi vitamin. JP probably has less of various minerals and vitamins.
Lori Pedigo says
You might want to look at information about multi vitamins. Most are not broken down and absorbed by the body at all. Ask the port o pottie businesses.
Joe says
Lori, generally if you chew them or take them in liquid form they are better absorbed. Then again, taking a LOT of several vitamins can lead to excess being excreted. When in doubt vitamins are best absorbed in smaller doses.
Momma ear says
hmm… that seems to be the answer i get from everyone. I think it’s interesting because my doc and I did a lot of trial and error omitting different things from my diet. He gave me a list of veggies and fruit not to eat cause they are high in beta carotenes. I looked at it and had never heard of a lot of them!! let alone bought them to eat! But they are all on the JP ingredients list.
And JP was the only thing that i took out of my diet that finally helped drop my levels of beta carotene. Is there a possibility that maybe my liver and/or kidneys just couldn’t handle the overload?
Joe says
Ive personally never heard of JP causing anything bad. it does sound like JP was the cause though based on what you said. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Missy32 says
The juice plus label states this: 2 capsules contain 7000 IU of vitamin A (as beta carotene) 140% of daily dietary intake, I believe that’s why your level went DOWN when you QUIT the juice plus. Vitamin A in large quantities is toxic to the liver also, that is why the one case study of the woman with cancer that took juice plus got (reversible) liver damage, after all 140% in a daily dose of vitamin A is very high.
Momma ear says
Hi, I took jp for 20 months. After suffering the stillbirth of my daughter at 38 weeks gestation, I had some blood work done. It showed my beta carotene level were through the roof. My doctor was stumped as to why. I ate s healthy diet, not an excessive amount of carrots or anything like that. After checking on the beta k levels a few more times they went up to 11.6! Normal being between 1-5. It finally clued in to me to check the jp label. I showed my doctor and he said to stop taking it. In a month after quitting my levels dropped a point, do we knew this was the problem. People had also started showing concern cause my skin was quite orange. That too is slowly getting better.
Any other people have this issue?? What do you think?
Thanks
Joe says
Momma ear. that’s odd. Ive never heard of that happening to anybody before.
Holly B says
My only thought is whether something else is going on metabolically that causes excessive buildup of beta carotene in the system. I’ve got a friend who has (can’t remember syndrome name) to have a pint of blood removed routinely because he builds up too much iron in his blood. Another friend is chronically low of B12 no matter what he eats and needs to supplement because his body burns through it so fast.
Both issues (too much iron and too little B12) are caused by underlying metabolic issues rather than ingesting too little or too much of the stated molecule.
Joe says
Holly, the condition is called Hemochromatosis or iron overload disorder.
Chap says
Thank you, Joe. We’ll be seeing her oncologist this Monday. Thank you for your response and prayers.
Stephanie says
Is Juice Puls safe for children? (ages 12 and 9) Because let’s face it, they never get the daily allowance of fruits and vegetables!
Joe says
Stephanie, I see no problems with Juice Plus for kids. Just make sure they know its not a substitute for fruits and veggies 🙂
Holly B says
Juice Plus+ is absolutely safe for children and is the focus of their Children’s Health Study which has now had over 100,000 children in the program. Published author and well known pediatrician, Dr. Barry Sears, is one of the biggest advocates of children taking Juice Plus. Do an internet search for “Juice Plus Children’s Health Study” to find the list of physicians (mostly pediatric) who are on the advisory board for the health study.
By the way, Juice Plus is not technically a “supplement” but is rather a whole food based product. It therefore does not have a “Supplement Label” as required by the FDA, but rather a “Nutrition Facts” label required of any other food product. It is also considered a “raw” food since it is dehydrated at low temperature to retain the nutritional integrity of the ingredients.
And although it is true that it not a substitute for fruits and vegetables, over 50% of the children on the study are reported to be eating more fruits and vegetables after one year on the product. I never had my younger children on it, but my 51 year old husband started actually liking vegetables for the first time in his life after taking the JP for 6 months — that was huge!
Chap says
Joe, my wife is currently undergoing chemotherapy (adriamycin + avastin) for stage 3C uterine cancer. She doesn’t have much appetite and the chemo causes her mouth to be sore, which further inhibits her eating. I prepare all of her meals. I do not give her fresh fruits and vegetables, because of the constant reports of salmonella/listeria/etc contamination (these would likely kill her). I do use frozen/canned vegetables/fruits, but she doesn’t eat much.
I shared these concerns with her doctor, and he recommended Juice Plus. She has begun using the chewables, 4 fruit/ 4 vegetable per day. I have seen reports on the internet suggesting that the antioxidants in JP may interfere with chemotherapy. How do you feel about using JP to get additional nutrition, and the possible effect of JP on chemo?
Joe says
Chap, its an interesting question you ask and I wish I had an answer. the use of antioxidants by those undergoing chemo or radiation therapy is somewhat controversial as you know. Since JP has low levels of various plant compounds that are antioxidants, would this lower level make them less of a problem during cancer treatment? I dont know. I know of no research of how JP interacts with chemo or radiation therapy (but there is one study noting less DNA damage in white blood cells of older adults that were exposed to radiation).
I think its best if you ask your wife’s oncologist about this question. I’m sure they are up to date on the latest research on antioxidants and can give you the best possible answer.
Your a good husband Chap. I’ll be saying a prayer tonight for you and your wife.

Sorry that other post was meant for this one , And I would recommend the jp capsules , open them up and sprinkle on food , or mix with something. Like the juice plus complete, I would not recommend the gummies for anyone with cancer as cancer feeds off sugar,

Joe says
Stacy, the links you provided do not work. Are they to the NSA website? My only issue with cancer and JP is that the antioxidants might be contraindicated during chemo or radiation therapy. Best to let a doctor make the call on that.
Rebecca says
Hello, I see you had someone ask about a year ago about how Juice Plus compares with Melaleucas vitamins do you know now?
Joe says
Hi Rebecca, I have not yet reviewed Melaleuca supplements. I did look at their website and didn’t see any research on them specifically to show me they are better than less expensive brands. There are a LOT of Melaleuca products listed on their website. I did not see a whole food product which would be similar to what juice plus is. that said if we stacked up vitamins in Juice Plus to a multi vitamin, Id guess juice plus would probably have less overall since its not a “multi vitamin” specifically but is supposed to be a product that contains dried plant extracts of fruits and vegetables. I don’t know if that helps you or not but until I know more about Melaleuca its the best I can offer at the moment.
Rick says
I’ve been taking Juice Plus+(R) since 1995. I used a juicing machine for 18 years before that to heal my peptic ulcers. Because I didn’t immediately trust Juice Plus+(R) I continued to use my juicing machine for another 7 months and taking my multivitamin. I thought Juice Plus+(R) was ‘snake-oil’, but figured the only way I’d know was if I evaluated it first-hand.
I’d just turned 50 and had been working out 3 days a week, but was having difficulty getting through my Friday night workout. Just before I started my Juice Plus+(R) evaluation I read a testimonial of a Texas 28 year old body builder who said if I double dosed on Juice Plus+(R) I would get a faster recovery between my workouts.
So I double dosed from the start and after 7 months I began laughing one Friday night in the middle of my workout, because I realized that night’s workout was better than my Monday night workout earlier that week. Another couple of months went by when I realized Juice Plus+(R) made my trusted valued juicing machine obsolete not only because it was less expensive and labor intensive, but Juice Plus+(R) gave me better results too! I haven’t used my juicing machine since.
To my knowledge, there are now at least 25 primary research published studies on Juice Plus+(R); you only reviewed 10. Clinical trials are ongoing, so more will be published in the future.
It’s sad to see the negative things written about Juice Plus+(R) On-Line. It’s a disservice to humans that would otherwise benefit from its concentrated nutrition, but believe the negative reviews. To your credit, you seem to be non-biased. Read the other studies you haven’t reviewed yet.
Better, evaluate it for yourself for at least eight months; it sometimes takes that long for benefits to be noticed, and be sure to take it everyday to feed your body with its nutrition. I’m a strict vegan and I couldn’t begin to eat enough to get what I get from my Juice Plus+(R) capsules.
Joe says
Rick, thanks for telling your story. If I didn’t mention a juice plus study in my review, its probalby because it overlapped with another study I did review or it was an earlier study that was not as well done as the more recent investigations. When I first heard of JP years ago, they were just starting to do good research (double blind, placebo controlled etc) and I had some questions about the earlier studies. So I went to TN to a JP convention and spoke to their biochemist about my questions. He admitted to me that at the start, NSA (the company that makes JP) didn’t grasp the significance of the research at first. I tried to focus only on what I felt was the best JP research out there.
I did not mention it in my review – because I did not want to seem biased (I’m not) – but I have used JP for several years and have done so because of the research. I can’t say however that I have noticed the effects that you say you have noticed (I don’t recover any faster from workouts. I have good days and bad days like most people). I dont feel as if I have any other energy either. I’ve used it as an adjunct /insurance of what I may not be getting from food and hope for the best.
