How Does BoomBod Work
Boombod is a weight management supplement that is sold in little paper sachets. Each sachet contains a measured amount of powder. You only have to mix the powder with water, down it, and then you are good to go. No pills to swallow.
Boombod is based on the idea that it will subdue your appetite yet still give you energy and reduce bloating while at the same time help you lose weight by eating less. The powder contains a fiber, called glucomannan which has been clincally shown to curb appetite and help people lose weight.
Powder supplements that you can consume as a drink have become very popular these days. Although diet pills are easier to use, Boombod holds a special appeal for people who have difficulty swallowing pills.
How Do You Use BoomBod
The idea behind this weight loss drink is to mix one sachet with water and drink it 3 times a day before meals, each with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Consume each sachet with 1 to 2 glasses of water before eating. That's it.
BoomBod Shot Drink Research
While the weight loss drink has not been clinically evaluated, there is quite a bit of research on the key ingredient in BoomBod. This ingredient is the fiber called glucomannan, which is also called konjac root.
What Is Glucomannan
Glucomannan, also called konjac root extract, is a naturally occurring dietary soluble fiber, composed of glucose and mannose sugars, extracted from the konjac plant, a type of tuber that grows in both China and Japan where it's been used in traditional foods and herbal mixtures for many years. Another name for the konjac plant is elephant yam, although it is not related to the yams you may purchase at your local supermarket.
As a natural fiber, it is also water-soluble. So, when we gulp down glucomannan, it absorbs the fluids, increases in size, and takes up plenty of space in our stomach. Hence, we don’t feel the need to eat extra because the fiber makes us feel full. This reduces the urge to eat and thus aids our weight loss.
Glucomannan Assists Healthy Weight Loss
Back in the 1980s, researchers first observed the slimming effects of this fiber when overweight men lost 5.5 pounds of body weight when glucomannan was consumed for just 2 months. When glucomannan was given to overweight women for 2 months, those women likewise lost more weight than women who took a placebo pill. In another investigation, men and women who consumed glucomannan fiber and performed exercise lost more weight than people who only worked out and did not use the fiber.
Researchers concluded, after reviewing 14 previous studies that glucomannan fiber (konjac fiber) was effective at helping people lose weight. In another review, researchers also concluded glucomannan reduced body weight in overweight people. There are several other studies showing similar effects. While not all studies are in agreement, enough clinical resaerch exists to lend evidence to the anti-obesity effects of konjac fiber.
Glucomannan Reduces Appetite
Glucomannan, the key ingredient in BoomBod, appears to reduce hunger and appetite. Researchers discovered that when they gave noodles made from glucomannan fiber to people, those people eat less food. But why? It appears glucomannan increases the viscosity of food in the stomach, slowing down digestion. Basically, it makes you feel fuller for a longer time. This reduces the desire to overeat or snack between meals.
Effects on Cholesterol Levels
Various studies have demonstrated glucomannan appears to benefit heart health by lowering cholesterol. When researchers gave the fiber to children for 8 weeks, they found it had positive effects on lowering cholesterol, bad cholesterol, and triglycerides. Interestingly the benefits appeared to be even better for girls than for boys. When the fiber was given to healthy men for 4 weeks, the men experienced a:
- 10% reduction in cholesterol levels
- 23% reduction in triglycerides
- Bad LDL cholesterol declined by 7%
- Systolic blood pressure (the top number) declined by 7%
Researchers have even discovered konjac root (glucomannan) improved cholesterol levels in people with schizophrenia.
Skin Health
Strange as it may sound, preliminary evidence suggests glucomannan might improve acne and even reconstitute or build back up the dermis portion of the skin. Whether this means glucomannan can help wrinkles need more study.
Gut Health Benefits
Konjac glucomannan is a fiber. Fiber is the food that healthy bacteria prefer to eat. This means glucomannan is prebiotic and can help improve the diversity of the microbiome of the large intestine (the gut). It has been shown to improve the growth of probiotic bacteria. While it is not marketed for gut health, BoomBod might be considered a type of probiotic supplement.

How Long Until It Works?
Research indicates people should start seeing the scale go down after 1 to 3 months of use. This timeframe will vary from person to person and results will be maximized by following a healthy calorie-reduced diet. Exercise is encouraged too to help maintain muscle as you lose weight. Failure to eat right will reduce how well BoomBod works.
Can Men Use It Too?
Looking at the Real Customer Reviews on the official website, one thing stands out. Most of the pictures are of women. So, does BoomBod work for men too? I believe it would. There's no reason to think otherwise. Clinical studies on konjac glucomannan fiber have involved both men and women. BoomBod is expected to have the same effects in both males and females.

Weight Loss Drink vs. BoomBod Gummies
If you're considering using Boombod gummies instead, this is an option. The difference between the weight loss shots and the gummies is that the gummies contain apple cider vinegar as a key ingredient. The Boombod gummies do not contain glucomannan.
Like glucomannan, apple cider vinegar does have its share of weight loss research, due to its acetic acid content. Two Boombod gummies provide an effective dose of 1000 mg of apple cider vinegar. In theory, glucomannan and apple cider vinegar may work better together but it will take research to know for sure.
BoomBod Guarantee, Return Policy, and Refunds
The return page of their website is a bit complicated so to help, here is what to do if it's not working for you and you want a refund. The supplements come with a 14-day guarantee. The two weeks begin when you receive your order. To get a refund, email the company at Hello@BoomBod.com.
Provide your name, home address, email address, and phone number. In addition, provide the order number too. The order number is found on the order confirmation email you received. Lastly, tell the company why you want a refund. Your order confirmation email also contains details on how to request a refund.

BoomBod Side Effects and Negative Reactions
The main ingredient used in Boombod is not an ingredient that usually causes problems. The supplement also has several vitamins and minerals, but they are in low dosages and unlikely to cause any issues either. The shots do contain artificial sweeteners, acidity regulators, and food colorants which means it is hard to exclude side effects entirely. That said, based on the main ingredients, serious side effects are not expected in most healthy people.
Common Side Effects & Considerations
Commonly reported adverse side effects may include diarrhea if you use too much too soon. This may be due to increased fiber consumption. Magnesium may also play a role although BoomBod powder does not have much magnesium.
Bloating and gas (farting) may also be experienced by some people. These may be temporary and caused by glucomannan improving gut diversity and health. In those who do not drink enough water, constipation may also be experienced by some people.
When To Ask Your Doctor
While side effects should be mild for most healthy people, to help maintain the low side effects experienced, here are some other things to consider:
- Start with less than recommended for the first week. Don't start with 3 sachets a day. Start with just 1.
- Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should speak to their doctor before taking weight loss and fat burner supplements.
- Stop taking BoomBod shots at least 2 weeks before having surgery. This includes dental surgery.
- BoomBod is not intended to be used by children
- If you are allergic to sulphites, sulfur-based compounds, ask your doctor
- Glucomannan may reduce blood sugar levels so speak to your doctor if you take diabetes medications
- If you take any medications consult your doctor
- Take medications separately from BoomBod to avoid any interactions that may occur
- Glucomannan may reduce the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, E, D & K). If this is a concern, take them at different times.
- BoomBod weight loss drinks are gluten-free and do not contain sugar or aspartame. Sweeteners that are present are surculose and Acesulfame K.
The company does caution people the BoomBod is made with equipment that also processes products containing nuts, milk, shellfish, fish, and soya. Consider this if you are allergic to any of these.
Can Boombod cause you to choke if it gets stuck in your throat? This is unlikely. While there are a few reports of glucomannan swelling up in the esophagus, these accounts occurred when with tablet supplements. BoomBod is not a tablet but a powder that's mixed with liquid. The company also recommends drinking the weight loss powder with adequate amounts of water.
If you are wondering if BoomBod is FDA approved, the answer is no but this is true for all dietary supplements. The Food and Drug Administration regulates dietary supplements but it does not authorize or approve their distribution or sale.

Hi Margie, so you ask a good question. BioFit is a popular probiotic weight loss supplement. It contains various types of lactobacillus and bifidobacterium bacteria. BoomBod is not a probiotic but rather contains glucomannan which can be thought of as a prrebiotic. Prebiotics are the food of probiotic bacteria. BioFit does not contain glucomannan. I’m not aware of any research that compares bioFit to Boombod so I could not say which would be more effective.
Here is a BioFit review you may find useful

Arlene, thanks so much for your generous words! yes, it was a lot of work 🙂

Hi Bernie, yes if you used Boombod 3x a day as recommended you would be taking 3000 mg of glucomannan. Most weight loss studies Ive seen tend to use 3000 mg a day. I have seen studies using 1000 mg but mostly its around 3000 mg.
