The name Abdominal Cuts makes me think that this weight loss supplement will give people a 6 pack –or at least give the ads a more “cut” appearance. But will Abdominal Cuts work? The name grabbed my attention as I'm sure it did yours so let me now review Abdominal Cuts so that I can save you time and energy searching for answers.
Who Makes Abdominal Cuts?
Abdominal Cuts is made by a company called Revolution Life Style. Another name for Revolution is Corr-Jensen Labs. The address is 6341 S. Troy Circle, Suite E, Centennial, CO 80016. Their phone number is (303) 468-4215. According to the Better Business Bureau the company was started in 2005. The Better Business Bureau gives the company a rating of “A” and has no complaints when I wrote this review. Do see the BBB file for updates and additional information.
When I Google “Corr-Jensen Labs” I couldn’t find a website for this company. Everything I saw had to do with Revolution Life Style and Abdomial Cuts. Even the Better Business Bureau lists “revolutionlifestyle.com” – an the Ab Cuts website – as the website for Corr-Jensen Labs. To me, this says that Corr Jensen labs may just be a fancy, science-sounding name for a supplement company.
Notice in the address of Corr Jensen Labs it says “Suite E.” That tells me that that Corr Jensen Labs may be located an office building.
Abdominal Cuts Research
I am unable to find any peer reviewed research on Ab Cuts itself. If that's the case then the only way to know if it works or not is to look at its ingredients.
Abdominal Cuts Ingredients
- CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) 500 mg (from Safflower oil)
- GLA (gamma linolenic acid) 75 mg (from Borage oil)
- ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) 50 mg (from flaxseed oil)
- EPA and DHA 150 mg
- Sesamin 25 mg (from sesame seed oil)
Ab Cuts also has 6.7 mg of vitamin E which is likely used as an antioxidant. All of the ingredients in Abdominal Cuts are fats and the vitamin E is likely used to prevent them from spoiling.
The first thing you need to know is that there is no published scientific evidence that the combination of these ingredients causes weight loss. The other thing to remember is that there is no published scientific evidence that Abdominal Cuts causes weight loss either. That’s a little ironic for a company with a scientific sounding name like “Corr-Jensen Labs.”
So, let’s look at each ingredient in Ab Cuts and see if any of these has any evidence.
Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA).
Several studies have noted that CLA may help weight loss in some overweight people. More specifically, CLA seems to alter the fat to muscle ratio rather than cause weight loss. How does CLA work? Well, some think CLA causes the death of fat cells.
The weight loss benefits of CLA usually start showing up when people use at least 1.8 grams per day. That’s a lot more CLA than is in Abdomial Cuts.
People who have diabetes or metabolic syndrome or who are at risk for them –overweight people –should be cautious about CLA. There is evidence that CLA seems to increase levels of pro-insulin – the unrefined, not fully processed, version of insulin.
Pro-insulin does not work as well as fully formed insulin.
This means that people who take CLA supplements may not be able to process sugar (glucose) as well. This might raise blood sugar levels and increase the risk of type II diabetes. The technical name for this condition is “ Hyper-pro-insulin-emia”.
There are different types of CLA. Unfortunately the form of CLA that seems to help with fat loss also seems to be the same that increase blood sugar levels. Most supplements are a mixture of CLA types. Therefore it’s hard to tell if CLA supplements increase type II diabetes risk or not. Still, it may be wise for people at risk for type II diabetes to have their sugar levels checked regularly if they use CLA supplements.
Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA)
This is a fatty acid. On other supplements you may see GLA listed as Evening Primrose Oil. I can’t find much GLA-weight loss research. In one 12 week study of GLA and weight loss in 100 overweight women, GLA did not work. I had to go back to 1983 to find this study.
I can’t find any other research on GLA and weight loss.
GLA is also found in Japanese Hokkaido weight loss pills so check out that review for more info.
Alpha-linolenic Acid (ALA)
This is derived from flaxseed oil. The Ab Cuts website says that ALA can help with “physique improvement”.
Notice the use of the vague phrase “physique improvement.” Supplement websites often use vague – yet smart-sounding terms and phrases – to sound like they know what they are talking about. For example, check out all the big $3 words used to describe Jillian Michaels weight loss supplement. This product used some of the most bizarre words I've ever seen!
One study seemed to show that ALA helped obese mice lose weight. Another study, published in 2010 found that ALA increased calorie burning in mice too.
But, where are the people studies? Where are the studies that prove ALA helps people lose weight? Ironically, here is a study that showed ALA caused people to gain weight!
Fatty acids are basically just fat. Each gram of fat has 9 calories. That’s a lot. Therefore it kind of makes sense that people who eat a lot of fat – or fatty acids – might gain weight.
Here is a study where ALA from Chia Seeds did not help weight loss in either men or women.
Given what I can find on this issue, for now, I'm unimpressed with the weight loss evidence for ALA.
EPA and DHA
Most of us know these as the “fish oils.” If you take a fish oil supplement you are already getting EPA and DHA. There are many studies on the benefits of fish oils but for here, let’s just focus on the weight loss proof.
There is some research that eating fish can help weight loss. This may have something to do with the hormone leptin which is secreted from fat cells. As for fish oil supplements, there is not as much proof that the supplements help weight loss.
For more info, see my review of Krill oil supplements.
Sesamin (sesame seed oil)
When I searched the National Library of Medicine for “sesamin and weight loss” nothing showed up. I can’t find any studies that prove Sessamin helps weight loss in humans.
Here is a study where the combination of sesamin and fish oil increased fat oxidation (fat burning) in the livers or rats. But did those rats lose any weight? Remember, fat burning and weight loss do not always mean the same thing.
Update. After I published this review I was made aware of a study published in 2008 titled:
Effect of a conjugated linoleic acid and omega-3 fatty acid mixture on body composition and adiponectin. In this study, younger and older skinny and obese men were randomly given a combination of CLA and omega 3 fatty acids. This study noted that this combination prevented fat mass gain in the abdominal area in younger men.
This could lend some evidence in favor of Ab Cuts but the study did not specifically use Ab Cuts so its hard to know for sure. Another issue is that the people in the study used more CLA (3 to 6 grams) and more EPA /DHA (3 g/day) than is recommended for Ab Cuts. Still, this is an interesting study and appears to be very well done.
How Much Does Ab Cuts Cost?
On the Abdominal Cuts website – revolutionlifestyle.com – they say Ab Cuts costs $47.99. That is a lot of money for a product that doesn't seem to have any scientific proof that it works. Here is Abdominal Cuts on Amazon for those who want to compare prices and read the comments from others.
Ingredients in Abdominal Cuts That Are Fat
- CLA
- GLA
- ALA
- EPA and DHA
- Sesamie seed oil
All of the ingredients in Abdominal Cuts are fats (fatty acids). I am pointing this out because, you see, when you eat fat, you burn more fat. I know that sounds weird, but it is true. The problem is that you burn more fat from what you eat, than your own body fat.
This logic of “eat fat, burn fat” was the same reasoning behind the supplement called Slim Shots that I reviewed previously. Read my Slim Shots review for more info on that product.
This also technically means that you burn more fat when you eat pizza and other fatty foods too. It’s true. So why don’t you lose weight if you eat a whole pizza? Well, pizza has a lot of calories and many of those calories are stored as extra fat.
Calories are what weight loss is all about. The people behind Ab Cuts knows this too. I know they do because on the Abdominal Cuts website they say “nutritional supplements must be used in correlation to a healthy diet.”
That’s their fancy way of saying Abdominal Cuts probably won’t work if you don’t watch what you eat.
Is there any proof that people eating a healthy, low calorie diet + using the Ab Cuts supplement, lose more weight than people who just eat healthy? No.
Kendra Wilkinson and Abdomial Cuts
I honestly have no idea who Kendra Wilkinson is but I hear she’s saying she lost weight using Abdominal Cuts. Maybe she did – but was that all she did to lose weight? My guess is that she is most likely being paid to be a spokesperson for Ab Cuts.
Testimonials can be the jumping-off point for good research, but unfortunately they are often used as a smokescreen to keep you from knowing the real facts.
For example, check out the “update” on my post about Jennifer Nicole Lee, the spokesperson behind the Ab Circle Pro after she was interviewed on 20/20.
Abdominal Cuts Side Effects
Abdominal Cuts probably won’t hurt anyone who is healthy, but people who have health issues should run this product past a doctor before using. Theoretically, some of the ingredients may cause problems that you should be aware of.
For example, both fish oil and GLA might interact with blood thinner medications. As I mentioned above, CLA may raise the risk of type II diabetes. Alpha linoleic acid may increase prostate cancer risk.
ALA may also raise triglyceride levels – which is a risk factor for heart disease. I doubt if the level of the level of ingredients in Abdominal Cuts will do any of these things (the blood thinner side effect is what I’m most concerned about) but I thought it would be good to mention this since Abdominal Cuts is being touted to millions of people.
At least one woman in the US developed liver problems after taking CLA. This woman also had the sickle-cell anemia trait. The rate of liver problems appears to be rare. To be safe, do see to your doctor if you have liver problems, the sickle cell trait or develop any abdominal pain after using CLA supplements.
Does Ab Cuts Work?
Hard to say. In theory, eating fat might slow digestion and hence, make people less likely to get hungry and over eat. This might be one way that Ab Cuts might work. That said, because Ab Cuts has no direct published proof, its hard to say. For those who want to compare prices and read the comments of others who tried this product, here is Abdominal Cuts on Amazon.

I purchased AbCuts at Walmart, going for my 2nd bottle Friday. I have lost 9.5 lbs in 2 weeks. I do not feel nervous, shaky or have any side effects. I have had 2 brain surgeries for tumors in past 6 months, being hospitalized for 5 weeks after first surgery I lost over 20 lbs which was not healthy, had feeding tube. Between surgeries I gained most of the 20 lbs back. Since 2009 I have lost 122 lbs, using Nutrisystem, workout at gym and watching my diet using Weight Watcher point system.
Having said all that I want those 20 lbs off in a healthy way. My last surgery was in late June, prior to surgery I ate what I was hungry for, scared that I may not survive another surgery, I did what I wanted and quit exercising. When I got home a week later I wasn’t able to do much other then lay around and rest, my head was killing me and I kept popping pain pills. 10 days later I got on scales and had a 27 lb increase, I freaked!!! Began walking 5 miles daily with my dog, Buddy; working out on my AbRocket daily and stopped taking pain pills.
It was very difficult at first & painful but what was more painful was not being able to wear my size 4 jeans I worked so hard to be able to do. I went from size 22 to size 4 in 3 yrs. Some may think that is too long to be on diet. I don’t call my lifestyle a “diet”; refer to it as lifestyle change. I will be 60 next month and research states it is harder to lose weight as one ages. When I started my “lifestyle change” I was still carrying the “baby fat” from my 3 pregnecies, my kids were in their late 30s!!
Anyway, Abcuts has worked for me, I see my midsection slimming down, have more energy and feel fuller with each meal. I take 3 capsules 2x a day. It is easier for me. I am wearing my size 6 jeans and they feel comfortable. I still have 11-15 lbs to lose. I weigh myself each morning since being off work and it is psychologically not healthy. One morning I can see a 3 lb weight loss and the next morning I’ve gained 1-2 lbs back. I begin back to work next week, will not get on scales each morning but each week.
I am concerned because I am a counselor for behavioral, dysfunctional adolescents, will spend a lot of time sitting and must sit with kids at lunch so won’t be able to go for walks at lunch. I will pack my lunch with NutriSystem meals as I still have a big supply from last year. Will take Buddy for walk in evening and eat largest meal at lunch, small meal after returning home. Can’t go to gym yet as dr feels it will be too strenuous.
My final words, since beginning my “lifestyle change” I have had many trials, spouse died from lung cancer and I was diagnosed with breast cancer at same time, had to have double mesectomy. Then diagnosed with brain tumors, 2 more surgeries and 7 months no work or regular income.
One of the reasons I ballooned to 225 lbs was my 25 yr old son’s death due to very rare genetic disorder. He entered Heaven in 2000, I was already over 180 lbs. At first I couldn’t eat and became a workaholic; lost 25 lbs in first year. In 2004 I lost my job due to office politics and had my “breakdown” realizing I had not identity, job or son.
I began eating and the weight gain began. At age 52 I realized I had to get myself together so I enrolled at PSU and the next 4 yrs I studied and ate, earned my Associates and Bachelors in Criminal Justice and addiction counseling and also ballooned to 225 lbs.
To sum it up, one must make a lifestyle change to see results at anything they attempt; for me it was weight loss for health and self esteem reasons, processing the grief of loved ones and fighting cancer. Yes I did use prompts (nutrisystem, counseling, vitamins, supplements); however, I also changed my daily lifestyle, realizing I am responsible for myself and I am not ready to enter Heaven yet.
I still have 2 great sons and 4 beautiful granddaughters. Who knows God may send me another partner to love and join me as we enjoy life on Earth, then enter Heaven together.
Good luck and God Bless anyone reading this and feeling life’s trials are too painful or “comfort food” will heal them, it won’t. However, praying to God, having faith and not expecting overnight changes, making lifestyle changes and being patient will provide results.

lovepuppy, oh my goodness! I am SO SORRY to learn all that you have been through! So sorry for your losses!! It sounds as though you have done your best to rise above all that has happened to you and your family. I am so glad you still have your 2 sons and 4 granddaughters to give you comfort. I will say a prayer for you tonight.

Thank you Joe.. I just signed up for your RSS feed, I will be informed now.
Have you done any research on natural and or? Regarding
high blood pressure?
I have it, and it is worrisome.
Thanks,
Grace
Joe says
Hi Grace, there are some natural ways to help lower blood pressure. Most of these you probably already know
1. lose weight if you need to (even 5 pounds can help)
2. dont smoke
3. exercise regularly (light to moderate exercise is best)
4. reduce salt in the foods you eat (read food labels. look for foods that say less than 5% next to sodium)
5. dont drink alcohol too much, if at all
6. Eat more potassium in foods (fruits and vegetables have lots of potassium)
7. meditate/ pray regularly. it really can help BP
8. Follow the DASH diet. Its been shown to reduce BP. Here’s a link to the website http://dashdiet.org/dash_diet_book.asp?google&gclid=CN7BhZXK2rECFUFx4AodfAIAiQ
Also get your BP tested regularly either at by your doctor or get a good /reliable BP device for home. Try not to worry about the readings too much at first because stressing over them can cause BP to increase.
Hope some of that helps Grace.

Hi Joe,
I’m currently on a mission to get a nicely cut 6 pack, even an 8 pack if I’m lucky. I spend about an hour every day at my home gym doing cardio workouts and workouts that focus on abdominal muscles only. I have quite a healthy diet too, i don’t starve myself, Plus I’m also taking a supplement called “HydroCuts Strip V2″ from the company”Evox”.
Those things get me dizzy sometimes and I take a dosage smaller than the recommended one. Would you suggest that i stop these and continue working out on my own, cause I’m seeing improvements already. I’m just wondering if its the rather intense training working here or are the supplements helping too.
Thanks man, your articles are really helping.
Joe says
Mazwi,
Thanks Im glad Im helping you! If they are making you dizzy I would stop taking them and keep doing what you are doing
PS, the website you listed didn’t work so I took it out. If you want to try to re post it thats fine.

Thank You Joe for the feedback… This discussion is very helpful, and insightful.

Sandy – soda isn’t good for you! You need to cut that out of your diet and your “exercise” is not active enough to lose weight. Like stated by someone else, you should be doing 7-10 hrs. Walking doesn’t do anything for your tummy and only 20 minutes won’t do anything. You are supposed to at least 30 min. Also Weight Watchers DOES work. A family friend of mine lost 100+ lbs years ago on their system.

Congratulations you can read the back of the bottle , any average rate intelligence person can figure out the generic names for seaseme oil. When I click in a page like this I want to know , did you use the product? If so did it work for you?
Don’t read back to me what is on the damn bottle I am very capable of doing that myself, by the way just because Google didn’t come up with any proven weight loss from seaseme oil doesn’t mean shit.
Seaseme oil is derived from the Japanese , they have used it for years mostly for spiritual purposes because it cleanses the body. Seaseme oil has a nasty little effect anyone who has ever taken it will know exactly what I mean. It cleans toxins a long with a few other nasty little things out of your body , most of which are stored in fat cells , causing a decent amount of water weight to Be lost.
No obviously your going to need to do a little work yourself , you can not expect to sit around and take pills and get pissed when you don’t wake up with a six pack , get off the couch and go for a run.
I could use the excuse that I smoke too much , been a smoker for 13 years , I still run over four miles a day. It’s all about discipline.
Point is seaseme oil does help with weight loss , I use it to clean all the toxins from cigarettes out of my body so it’s easier for me to stay healthy , I use it to keep up with my military life style.
With a little bit of work and effort it can be accomplished. Next time research seaseme oil not weight loss product , it is a natural supplement dumb ass.
Joe says
OEF veteran, I did not check Google to see if sesame oil helped weight loss, I checked the national library of medicine – a database of millions of studies dating back over 100 years. it showed nothing. if you know of such a study please do let me know and I will amend my review.
I did not just read that back of the bottle either. I investigated each ingredient and linked to research studies. if you click on the links in the review you will see this.
can you show me a published study that sesame oil helps people lose weight – or more importantly that it protects you from smoking toxins? what are the “toxins” you say it is removing? Unless you have it on good authority – oncologist/ peer reviewed study – that sesame is protecting you from cancer, please dont rely on it.

I usually do not believe in any of the products out there and have tried a few . Ab cuts however does work for me as I am on my 3rd bottle with a break in between where I notice mid section fat coming back so I bought more .
One thing that I know for sure I need to take 6 per day faithfully for it to work, 2 pills 3x per day . In the beginning I was only taking maybe 2-4 per day and didnt notice a thing .
Once I went to the max recommend and took it faithfully things started happening. It curbed appetite, made me feel satisfied with a smaller portion of food AND the midsection bulge started going down. I am not overweight I just have a extra 10 pounds I would like not to be there.
MP says
what about this study? Is this a reliable source? http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11316347?dopt=Abstract
Joe says
MP, well its a mouse study but regardless, it seems to support what I mentioned, that CLA seems to cause fat cell death (they call it apoptosis in the study).
as I mentioned in my supplements book, only one typo of CLA seems to help weight loss. products usually dont tell what type they use so choose a product you trust
be aware that diabetics should see their dr because CLA might make diabetes worse.

Sandy, what your eating is perfectly okay. But the chicken i recommend making in the microwave. it takes about 5 mins. with 1/2 cup of green beans. and using 1 tbsp of olive oil on the chicken. Tastes way better than it sounds!. and also, in the morning try 1/2 cup of dry oatmeal mixed with 1 cup of water and put it in the microwave on height for 2 1/2 mins. With a tbsp of honey the taste is improved!
At supper I eat whatever I want but not a lot of it. I exercise maybe and hour a day. Instead of walking your dog. Take it for a slow paced jog. Increasing the distance everyday.
Also I take 1 fish oil pill with every meal. Also I drink around 59-82 oz of water daily. I have seen great results with this strategy. And my hunger isn’t like it used to be. Its just a thought. But I do it, and I love my results!

Joe .. I received a free bottle of the latest Ab Cuts Sleek & Lean. Want to try it since I got it at no charge .. but I’m also taking 3 softgels of EFA Gold. Do you know if that would be too much?? Thanks!

Jennifer not sure so if you combine them do it slowly (not as many EFA Gold capsules at first) to see how your body reacts

I have been using Abcuts for 5 weeks. I have seen results. In the beginning I gained about 6 pounds but then it started coming back off the next 2 weeks. I have a lot more definition in my Ab section.
I have not changed anything. That was the reason I started them. I was not seeing results before I started. I am in great physical shape but with 2 kids, my abs and thighs are still gross. Abcuts has helped. It also helped with my appetite.
It is NOT a fast change. Even taking the max dose of 6 pills. You have to stay eating healthy and exercising regularly!

I take AbCuts that I got from Walmart. I work the midnight shift but I take them throughout the day. I also have physical training for ROTC so I am in good athletic shape. I agree with a few of the others that I think these work for people who are in decent shape.
They also help curb my appetite which is great when I’m at work. However, I’m always skeptical when it comes to dietary supplements. Half of the time I think that its a mental thing. If I know I’ve taken a dietary supplement I won’t eat much and I’ll make sure I don’t eat- which is obviously not good.
Klenise says
Hi. I started using Ab Cuts about 6 weeks ago. A bottle shouldn’t last that long but I wasn’t using it properly. I started really hitting it hard last week but I have only been take 2 pills at breakfast. I can relate to the feeling of nausea that comes if I eat too much, which I did on my cheat day last Sunday.
I lost 4lbs between Sunday 10 June and Sunday June 17th. However, I work out nearly everyday. My diet has completely changed. As a matter of fact, I was told I am not taking in enough calories because I look exhausted and some days, I just crash meaning that I can barely lift my head so I am working to improve that but I won’t implement changes until next week.
I try to pin point how I am doing from week to week so the total amount I have to lose won’t overwhelm me. I am considered obese by military standards but I haven’t had a waist measurement over 31″ in years and I pass all my fit tests.
Of all the supplements I have played with, Alli is the only one that truly worked. There were some growing pains though because I was the person that still wanted to eat cheeseburgers and pop the pills at the time. That stuff doesn’t play.
I experienced some embarrassing side effects but that was long time ago. I don’t take Alli all the time or with anything other than vitamins. Ab cuts was cheap and I was drawn to it because of the alleged thigh reduction it is supposed to help me achieve.
My thighs still look huge to me and I have learned that cellulite is not something you can get rid of. I never tried before but we’ll see. Reading all this is making me want to give up on the Ab Cuts and go back to Alli, but I refuse to waste money.
I will pay closer attention and use it as instructed next week. We’ll see if the miracle it promises will show up by then. More to come…

I lost 10lbs. on Ab Cuts. I am on my second bottle. It cost less than $20 at Walmart. I don’t eat much in the morning or at noon but my problem is that I eat from the time I get home from work until I go to bed. Taking Ab Cuts just before I leave work, really has helped curb my appetite when I needed it. I noticed that I feel full much earlier. I can’t say it will help everyone but it sure has helped me.

Lot’s of information in this review- good thread about CLA, I have done significant CLA research on myself as the guinea-pig and have had significant results using the compound… I have been taking around 3G/day for the past year and while I am not losing weight, have improved my musculature and my body feels and looks tight, good definition all around and I’m definatley ready for summer.
CLA is a preventative solution to FAT GAIN, not a diet pill… the clinical studies behind the compound prove that the product inhibits brown adipose tissue from forming (which tends to form around the midsection) and helps in the metabolism of triglycerides.
The human studies on CLA isomers and there potential to cause insulin resistance need to be looked at… all of the individuals in those studies were obese and sedentary… which likely means they were already very insulin resistant prior to CLA supplementation… if you are an active adult who eats rights with no preexisting blood glucose problems you will not get diabetes from taking CLA…
For all the people on the thread that are considering Abcuts as a weight-loss pill you will be disappointed… for those who want a long-term, preventative solution to fat gain and health support for lipid metabolism CLA is a good, safe, inexpensive place to start.
I noticed that the 80 count of Abcuts is available at Walmart for .22/serving (500MG) – pretty reasonable for a solid formula. I like to break up my does into 500mg servings 6 times per day, for those that have sensitive stomachs the 500 mg serving size is perfect when spread out. Omega oils in general can cause digestive distress for a very small percentage of people – I am one of those and the heavier dose 1000mg+ CLA products hurt my tummy 🙂 Enjoy the summer!

I priced ab cuts at the store Rite Aid at 42.00 then prices all the individual ingredients to be at 60.00. plus the other point is you would be taking a lot of pills by doing it individually and maybe taking more than you need to it seems to me I will try this product in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise, and the small amts in the ab cuts should be healthy enough to not interfere .
as I am not on a blood thinner, I heard about these items helping with fat loss so I feel that because I will be taking them with a good amount of water at each setting then the water too will be filling me up helping me to eat less helping with digestion etc…and no jitters is the thing that helps me.
So the bottom line will be how I feel…and what the scale and measurements say! This is a step up from the normal routine where I have been losing weight at a healthy rate about 1-2 pounds a week, and I am at a stall right now so hoping to jump start it again adding a more intense workout and even healthier diet.
I am glad to know about the checking blood sugars I will keep an eye out for it but I think that since it is such a small amt it should not be a problem. I look forward to leaving another review and hope it to be a good one.

I just ordered CLA it’s a fat but it’s a good fat that while you work out Burns off the bad fats you don’t want. I’m glad I read this because I was thinking of purchasing abcuts and now I’m not going to. Thanks to everyone for the information and the extra websites to check out
