Along the way, you'll learn about the positive and negative testimonials, possible side effects, and pros and cons of this supplement as well as the money-back guarantee and how to contact the company and get a refund if you need to. This review is unbiased and not associated with the BlackOxygen company. Update. Black Oxygen Organics has stopped doing business and is shut down and is no longer in operation See below for why BOO shut down business operations.
How Does Black Oxygen Work?
The science of BlackOxygen resides with the key ingredient, called fulvic acid, which the company calls a “gift from the ground.” Fulvic acids are organic substances formed when microorganisms like bacteria break down plant materials. These natural acids can be found in water as well as on rocks and in soil. The BlackOxygen company gets its fulvic acid from a peat bog in the Ottawa Valley located in Ontario, Canada, said to be one of the world's richest sources of this substance.
Fulvic acid is a source of over 70 minerals, as well as vitamins, amino acids, and phytonutrients. They are part of a larger class of organic compounds called humic substances which are present naturally in the soil.
One of the claims for the supplement is it's said to improve the delivery of usable oxygen to the cells. This may be where the name came from.
Humic Substances
There are 3 main classes of humic substances:
- Humic acids
- Fulvic acids
- Humin
Remember dirt is not the same thing as soil. Dirt is dead, while soil and peat bogs are teeming with microscopic life. These humic substances like fulvic acids in the soil help with plant growth. When ingested by humans, some researchers feel fulvic acids have beneficial effects.
Benefits of Fulvic Acid
Various sources promote the idea that fulvic acids can help a variety of health problems ranging from:
- low energy levels
- poor skin/ skin problems
- poor gut health
- less than optimal nutrient absorption
- dementia, including Alzheimer‘s disease
- lengthening lifespan
Most of these claims, however are not backed by human clinical research.
Natural Electrolytes & Antioxidants
Because it contains minerals, fulvic acids can also be considered natural organic electrolytes, helping cells stay healthy and transporting nerve signals throughout the body. The BOO company claims its supplement has “the most powerful electrolyte in existence.” That's a bold claim. Fulvic acid does have over 70 minerals and trace minerals. Minerals do function as electrolytes. But do its minerals work better than other minerals?
Studies show fulvic acid has antioxidant effects and can reduce oxidative stress by neutralizing excess free radical production. By reducing free radicals, they may reduce inflammation. Indeed, at least one study has shown that a topical solution of fulvic acid helped people suffering from eczema.
One of the most popular sources of fulvic acids is called Shilajit, a substance used in ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. There is research on Shilajit.

Do We Need Fulvic Acid?
There's no doubt fulvic acids contain some healthy ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, and amino acids as well as plant nutrients. When you eat plants, you are ingesting some fulvic acids. Proponents of fulvic acid supplements may claim that the amounts we normally ingest are less today because of modern farming and soil erosion. Sick soil leads to sick people, some may say.
It's an interesting idea however, tracing the rise in diseases – like diabetes, heart disease, and dementia – to a single class of nutrients is a little far-fetched in my opinion. Human biology is very complicated. Much of the research on fulvic acids stems from looking at what happens to lab animals and isolated cell cultures. Less is known about the benefits of soil nutrients in humans. This deficiency in knowledge is due to the failure of researchers to study it better. Hopefully, this changes one day.

My thoughts on the coffee:
- Since this is coffee, how much caffeine does it have? Perhaps 75 mg to 150 mg of caffeine, according to the Keurig website. The coffee is an Italian dark roast.
- There ARE percent daily values for total carbohydrates but the nutrition facts label does not list anything. Why?
- The fulvic acid mineral-infused coffee also contains Fibersol fiber yet the nutrition facts label states it has zero fiber. Which is it? Does the coffee have fiber or not? Fibersol is a synthetic fiber that has some weight loss research. For more on fibersol fiber see this review.
How Much Does BlackOxygen Cost?
Here are the prices listed on the company's official website:
- BlackOxygen tablets $110 per box (40 tablets per box)
- Fulvic acid powder $110 per pouch (4.41 oz/ 125 g)
- Infused fulvic acid coffee $30. A box has 12 K-cups
Black Oxygen Research
The company has supported at least one clinical investigation showing their fulvic acid minerals can chelate or bind to heavy metals, removing them from the body. The report is titled “The effects of fulvic acid on the chelation/elimination of heavy metals.”
In this report, which can be found on the BlackOxygenOrganics.com website, 10 people were given the NuWTR fulvic acids for 45 days. Their urine analysis showed greater excretion of toxic heavy metals such as lead and aluminum.
Problems with the study
- It does not appear to be peer-reviewed
- It contained only 10 people
- No placebo group
- It's stated the study was carried out in consultation with NuWTR, the other name for the Black Oxygen company
Black Oxygen Organics Company
The company name is Black Oxygen Organics Inc. Another name appears to be NUWTR (New Water?). The website is BlackOxygenOrganics.com. The CEO is Marc Saint-Onge who is a Kinesiotherapist and holds a BA in psychology from Laurentian University in Canada. Prior to this Mr. Saint-Onge was the founder and CEO of Oxygen Coaching and Sales, a business coaching company.
The Black Oxygen Organics company has US and Canadian offices. Here are the addresses:
- US Office: 30 N Gould St Sheridan, WY 82801
- Canadian Office: 6200, Boul. Taschereau suite 405 Brossard, Québec Canada J4W 3J8. Another name for the Canadian company might be 11578243 CANADA INC
To contact the company about your order, email them at support@blackoxygenorganics.com or call 613-218-4254. If you are looking for a refund, email the company at Refunds@blackoxygenorganics.com.
Regarding the 30 N Gould Street address, according to the Better Business Bureau, this is a Commercial Registered Agents location and typically is not a physical place of business.
The BlackOxygen company gets their fulvic acid from a peat bog in Ottawa, Canada. They are the only company permitted to sustainably harvest this area, which is said to be one of the most abundant sources of fulvic acids on Earth.
Refunds and Money Back Guarantee
BlackOxygen Organics comes with a 30-day window to get 100% of your money back if you are unsatisfied. If you wait longer than 1 month, then the refund is 50% of the purchase price. Because the company is involved in multi-level marketing (network marketing), might this refund policy apply to distributors? That said, it should confer to customers who use the supplements too.
The refund policy is not well laid out on the website. The Refunds Page does not contain phone numbers, email addresses, or physical addresses or what procedure is to be followed to send the supplements back. To contact the company, email them at Refunds@blackoxygenorganics.com or call the company at 613-218-4254.
Update. The company is no longer in business. The website no longer appears active.

Black Oxygen Organics BBB Rating
The Better Business Bureau gave the company an F rating of 1 out of 5 stars when this review was updated. The BBB reports a “pattern of complaints” from people having issues with delayed shipping, product concerns, and customer service. It is possible some of this may be due to the company having difficulties keeping up with the demand for their products, which were quite popular. According to the BBB the company appears to now be out of business.
Did Black Oxygen Organics Go Out Of Business?
As reported by WSB TV 2 in Atlanta, the company is no longer in business. According to the FDA, the company went out of business on November 23 2021. In September, the Canadian company recalled lots of its fulvic acid supplement:
- BlackOxygen Tablets (NPN 80106662)
- BlackOxygen Organics Powder (NPN 80097385)
after levels of heavy metals were detected. An Atlanta attorney has also filed a federal lawsuit against the company after heavy metals were found in the fulvic acid supplements. While heavy metals can occur naturally in foods, according to ClassAction.org the levels of arsenic, lead, and cadmium in Black Oxygen Organics are unacceptable. The Food and Drug Administration advises people to not use fulvic acid supplements from Black Oxygen Organics.

What Do I Suggest?
I like supplements with clinical research. Kyolic Aged Garlic Extract has dozens of clinical studies, many involving humans
showing aged garlic extract reduces cholesterol and bad LDL cholesterol, homocysteine, inflammation, coronary calcium, advanced glycation end products, and blood pressure and even seems to reduce plaque in arteries. This is a supplement I take every day.
Shilajit a source of fulvic acids also has its share of positive human clinical research.

BlackOxygen Testimonials
Searching social media reveals several people who claim BOO fulvic acid supplements have helped them. Health problems the supplements are said to help range from:
- helping tick bites
- improving immune system
- helping covid-19 and long covid symptoms
- improved energy levels/sustained energy
- better stamina and mental focus
- reduced muscle aches and pains
- better skin complexion
While positive testimonials are good to see, keep in mind individual results will vary. Most online testimonials are not backed up by research.
Black Oxygen Organics Complaints
The Better Business Bureau lists complaints against the company, such as difficulties getting refunds. Some have reported problems contacting the company. Unfortunately, complaints listed with the Better Business Bureau appear to be unanswered, which may factor into their BBB rating. Could this simply be because the BOO company is not aware of them?
Black Oxygen Organics Side Effects
No side effects or adverse reactions are known to occur from taking BOO supplements although, in a TV news report linked to the above, one woman said she experienced stomach pains, extreme fatigue, and vomiting after taking the supplement.
On December 3rd, 2021, the FDA advised people not to use BOO supplements due to the presence of elevated levels of arsenic and lead. The company claimed BOO supplements are approved by Health Canada and have a Health Canada Natural Product Number (NPN 80063624).
Much of what is known about fulvic acid is gleaned from studies on laboratory animals or isolated cells. For example, in rats, fulvic acid might reduce thyroid function. But this doesn't necessarily mean it hurts thyroid function in people. In some clinical trials, some people reported sore throats, headaches, and diarrhea. Not everyone experiences these issues. To reduce any possible side effects you may have, here are some suggestions:
- Start by taking less than recommended for the first week.
- Don't use it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor says it's OK.
- Avoid if under the age of 18 or still growing.
- Speak to your physician if you have autoimmune disorders such as Hashimoto's thyroid disease or rheumatoid arthritis.
- If you take any medications, ask your doctor first.
- Stop taking at least two weeks before having surgery, including dental surgery.

Does Black Oxygen Really Work?
The BOO company has released at least one report that appears to show BlackOxygen fulvic acid supplements can pull heavy metals like lead and aluminum out of the body. This is encouraging, but the study does not appear to be peer-reviewed, which is a weakness in my opinion. Lack of evidence does not mean it does not live up to what people are saying. Rather it just means it needs to be looked at better.
And then there are the reports BOO supplements contain toxic heavy metals like lead and arsenic, which, if true is very concerning. Based on this, the supplement cannot be recommended. So is BOO the magic molecule or just expensive, packaged dirt? Since the BOO company appears to have gone out of business, we may have to wait for better studies to determine the answer. Fulvic acids are intriguing soil nutrients that may have health benefits although most of the research involves animals and cells.
The company is no longer in business. If you have BOO supplements, it is suggested you not take them.
