ViSalus Vi Shape Taste Test

Previously, I told you about the ViSalus Vi Shape supplement that seems to be all the rage in some areas.  Now I want to tell you how The ViSalus shake tastes – at least how it tasted to me.  I think this is good to know because taste is probably the most important factor – next to being healthy – that determines if you will stick with a weight loss shake or not.

In case you missed it here is my review of the ViSalus shake so be sure to read this also so you have a better idea of what's in this weight loss shake.

I tasted the Body By Vi shake both with 8 oz of 1% milk and 8 oz of cold water, just as it says to do on the package.

When I mixed it with milk, the Body By Vi shake tasted good and was somewhat creamy.  I didn’t notice any after taste.

Some residual powder was at the bottom of the glass after I was finished drinking it and some floated on the top of the milk.  The same thing happened when I used water.   This is probably because I mixed it in a glass by hand and did not use a blender.  Overall this was not a big deal to me.

When mixing Vi Shape with water, the shake was less creamy but still didn’t taste bad and there was no aftertaste.  Vi Shape definitely tasted better than my taste test of Shakeology.

I think where both recipes of the BodybyVi shakes feel short is that neither made me feel full.  I say this even after drinking both of the Body by Vi shakes (milk and water version) within minutes of each of each other.

That meant I drank a total of about 16 ounces of fluid (8 oz water, 8 oz milk) and about 34 grams of protein (each body by Vi pack had 12 g protein and the milk had about 10 g).  I also didn’t feel like I had any more energy after drinking the Vi shakes either.

I drank both Visalus shakes for breakfast.  Conversely when I make my own homemade shake, I don’t feel hungry and feel full for several hours.

I'm not sure why my homemade smoothie made me feel better and have more energy than the Vi Shape.

While I am only speculating, this may be because my homemade shake had more fruit – and carbs.

Carbohydrates not only can raise blood sugar but they also help us absorb the amino acids of protein.  The protein and fiber in my homemade smoothie may have stabilized my blood sugar also, preventing a hypoglycemia reaction which might happen after ingestion of carbs.

My smoothie also had more volume than the ViSalus shake.  Foods that have more volume tend to make people feel fuller longer. This may have also helped.

On the down side my homemade smoothie has a little more calories than Vi Shape.  Depending on how I make it, my smoothie may have about 200-300 calories, and maybe a little more than this too.  That’s over 100 more calories than ViSalus.
Here's the Vi Shake on Amazon if you want to see what others are saying.
