Male Extra Detailed Review of Ingredients

Update 3/7/20. Bigger. Harder. Longer. These are some of the words used to describe Male Extra, a male enhancement supplement from the United Kingdom that's said to “supercharge your sex life” with “no side effects.” The company says they have over 320 thousand satisfied customers.  Big words aside, does Male Extra really work? Or is it a scam you should avoid? In this review, you'll learn about the ingredients and evidence for Male Extra to see if its right for you.

Male Extra Research

The Male Extra website (MaleExtra.com) hints that the product will provide:

Bold words and hype aside, does Male Extra have any research to show it works? If it exists, it cant be located.  On the supplement's website, there is a section called “How Fast Can I Expect Results” to which the answer is most see results in a few weeks.  Thats nice to know because it means you won't have to keep taking it for months before you may see differences.

That said, it would be nice to see clinical evidence to back this claim up.

Male Extra Ingredients

Here are the ingredients listed on the supplement's website:

  1. Arginine 600 mg
  2. Pomegranate500 mg
  3. MSM 100 mg
  4. Methionine 100 mg
  5. Zinc 14 mg
  6. Cordyceps  25 mg
  7. Niacin 18 mg

The Old Ingredients

These were ingredients that Male Extra contained when it was reviewed in 2015

How Does Male Extra Work?

Male Extra is primarily a nitric oxide booster. The amino acid, arginine helps is manufacture nitric oxide. Nitric oxide vasodilates (opens up) blood vessels. If blood vessels in the penis open up, more blood can enter. The result – erections. Niacin can also do this too.

Some studies of arginine do show it may help erectile dysfunction. Some of that research though tends to use about 5 grams a day which is more than Male Extra contains.

What About The Other Ingredients

Zinc

Zinc might help testosterone levels if you are not getting enough zinc. The RDA for zinc in the US is about 13 mg per day.

Creatine

Creatine is no longer used in Male Extra. That's a good thing. It doesn't help erectile dysfunction.

MSM

MSM stands for Methyl sulfonyl methane. It's popular in arthritis supplements. No proof for it helping ED could be located. Methionine may raise homocysteine

Methionine

Methionine is an amino acid. There's no human proof it helps ED. Methionine may raise homocysteine levels, a compound linked to heart disease.  Ironically, high homocysteine may contribute to ED.

Pomegranate

Taking 3 capsules of Male Extra contain 1500 mg of pomegranate, obtained from the whole fruit and this is said to be standardized to contain 40% ellagic acid. So does pomegranate help erectile dysfunction?

In one study, researchers noted pomegranate juice did not appear to improve erections compared to placebo in 53 men who had erection problems. This study actually used the most popular pomegranate supplement called POM Wonderful

Likewise there is no good proof ellagic acid helps men with ED

Cordyceps Mycelium

Cordyceps has been popular in exercise supplements for many years. While traditionally it referred to a fungus that grew on caterpillars, my guess is that most of the cordyceps these days are made in a lab.

That's not much given that exercise studies have used 3000 mg a day. Those studies either find it works or it doesn't it didn't work. Either way, they used more than Male Extra provides.

Regardless, clinical proof for cordyceps boosting testosterone levels or helping ED cannot be located.

Who Makes Male Extra?

The company name listed is MoreNiche Limited. The address is Digital House Unit 2.3, Clarendon Business Park, Nottingham, NG5 1AH,
The United Kingdom.

When I went to the Male Extra website (MaleExtra.com) I did not see a company listed. When I looked at Whois.com (which gives information about other websites), I found that the website was registered in 2009 by a supplement company called Advanced Health Limited, located in Glasgow Scotland.

Another company that appears to be associated is Vobue (Vobue.com) which is located in Cyprus.

How To Contact Male Extra

The product website lists this contact number:

Is It Guaranteed?

Yes. the supplement has a 100-day money-back guarantee. No questions asked. Return any unused supplements within 100 days and get a refund, minus shipping and handling. One thing to remember though is the guarantee does NOT apply to 1 month only purchases.

Does Male Extra Enlarge The Penis?

There's no evidence the supplement enhances penis size.

Who Is Male Extra For?

The website shows men who appear to be in their 20s and 30s.  ED is unlikely in those age groups. These types of dietary supplements are usually marketed to men in their 40's, 50s, and up.

Male Extra Side Effects

For healthy people, most of the ingredients seem ok.  That said, here are some things to consider for those not “healthy.”

Natural Ways To Improve Erections

Erection issues are complicated. Taking a pill may not get the job done. For best consider these other things too:

1. Lose weight. Even losing 10 pounds might improve erections.

2. Exercise regularly. Exercise naturally raises nitric oxide levels and also helps keep blood vessels

3. Do cardio before strength training. Some studies show performing aerobic exercise before strength training may lead to higher testosterone levels.  For more on this, see the review on my personal website.

4. Reduce stress. Stress can cause ED. Some drugs may cause erection problems too.

Remember, heart disease may start in the small blood vessels of the penis. Because of this, I think having this conversation with a doctor may be one of the smartest things a man can do.

Does Male Extra Work?

While the use of arginine makes sense for an ED supplement, I remain skeptical. To know for sure, it would take real clinical studies.
