Nano Go Will It Help Weight Loss?

Nano Go is a weight loss supplement by Nano Go Nutraceuticals and is sold at Smoothie King and other locations. Nano-Go, got my attention because nano is a reference to nanotechnology, the science of creating microscopic machines and molecules that – in this case – can improve some aspect of health. What is Nano Go and does it really harness the power of nanotech? And what’s up with Smoothie King selling weight loss supplements?  Let’s take a look at Nano Go and see if we can figure this out.

Where is Nano Go located?

Nano Go Nutraceuticals, founded 1994 by Shawn Cotton is located in in Batton Rouge LA. It’s hard to find the Nano Go company address if you search for “Nano Go”.

Nano Go is actually a product sold by the company Canyon World Quest which makes several supplements. Its website is APSLabs.net.  When I viewed the website on 8/12/11 it looked like it needed to be updated. For example, Nano Go was not listed in the product list.

The Canyon World Quest website indicates that their address is 3655 O'Neal Lane, Suite 4 Baton Rouge, LA 70817. The link shows what it looks like. It appears to be a strip mall. It doesn't look like place where nano engineering is taking place. As such, I think the name “nano” is just a catchy name rather than a reference to high tech nanotechnology.

On other websites, the company address is “George O’Neal Lane”. I'm sure the the Canyon World Quest knows their own address.

Nano Go Supplements

There are actually a few Nano Go supplements. On the Nano Go website – Nano-Go.com – I see that they have the following products:

My advice is to bypass  the colon cleanse supplement. It has senna which is a strong laxative. It also has psylium which is just a fiber and natural laxative.

You may remember that senna was also found in Bob Harpers 7 Day  cleanse supplement and the Chinese weight loss product Zi Xiu Tang.

Is there anybody out there who doesn't have a colon cleanse supplement these days? Trust me, most just overpriced fiber supplements.

Nano Go Weight Loss Supplement

It turns out there are 3 versions of this weight loss supplement:

If you go to the Nano Go website, you can see that each version has 900 mg per serving. And, all three types also have the same ingredients.

Nano Go Weight Loss Ingredients

Green Tea Extract
Glucuronolactone
Caffeine
Phenylethylamine HCL
Citrus Aurantium
Synephrine Caprylate
Nettle Root Extract
Picamilon
Inositol Niacinate
Yohimbine HCL

So how are the 3 different types of Nano Go different?

If they really are different products, my hunch is that they probably differ in the amount of stimulants they contain.

The following Nano Go ingredients are all stimulants

Both citrus aurantium and synephrine caprylate are other names for bitter orange. These compounds are often used in “ephedra free” weight loss pills because they both “look” like ephedra. Citrus aurantium in particular shows up frequently in weight loss supplements.

Ephedra is banned in weight loss supplements the US because of a combination bad publicity, poor quality control in supplements and the product being used by the wrong people.

In the end, several people died after using ephedra supplements. That said, research did show that ephedra + caffeine helped weight loss for at least 6 months (the best studies only lasted about 6 months).

Both citrus aurantium and synephrine caprylate will raise heart rate and blood pressure. Use with caution if you have ANY health condition.

Yohimbine HCL has been studied to help erection problems but it also carries some potentially serious side effects. This is why yohimbine is listed last in the ingredients list of Nano Go.

I’m guessing that Nano Go has very little yohimbine but I cant tell for sure because we are not told how much of each ingredient is in Nano Go.

Combining yohimbine and caffeine (and / or other stimulants) opens up the possibility of increasing blood pressure to dangerous levels.

People with health conditions should use yohimbine with caution. Some of the health conditions that may be exacerbated by yohimbine include:

Bodybuliders sometimes take Yohimbie but it can be dangerous in them also. Yohimbie can interact with many drugs people take.

Tip. Yohimbine is the drug contained in the herb Yohimbie.

Phenylethylamine HCL. This stuff is found in chocolate and some think it acts like a natural stimulant (think amphetamines). One problem is that when you eat phnylethylamine, it quickly gets broken down by an enzyme so who knows if any actually gets into us intact or not.

People who have any mental issues (schizophrenia ect) should be cautious of Phenylethylamine

Smoothie King and weight loss supplements

Smoothie King adds Nano Go to your smoothie if you ask them to.

But, is there any proof that Nano Go weight loss smoothies work? If you do a web search, you will find people who say it has worked. I usually take testimonials from people I don’t know with a grain of salt.

One reason is because I don’t know if they were doing anything else to help weight loss. To their credit, the Nano Go website does say that when it comes to weight loss “All nutritional programs are used with a calorie-controlled intake”.

So if Nano Go alone is going to work, you have to eat less calories. Take a look at the calories in Smoothie King Smoothies. Not all of them are low in calories. Also, there are no clinical studies on Nano Go alone that says it helps people lose weight.
