Lipozne Weight Loss Protein Bar Ingredients

Lipozene

Each weight loss bar has the following ingredients. Ingredients are listed in the order as they appear on the package:

  1. Soluble tapioca fiber
  2. Oats
  3. Egg protein
  4. Dates
  5. Cocoa powder
  6. Glucomannan  (1500 mg)
  7. Sunflower oil
  8. Sea salt
  9. Monk fruit extract

The most important weight loss ingredient listed is glucomannan, also known as konjac root extract and PGX. This fiber is also the key ingredient in Lipozene pills. Each weight loss bar has 8 grams (8000 mg) of fiber. Fiber is well known to curb appetite, improve gut health, and aid with healthy weight loss.

What's So Special About Glucomannan?

How does Lipozene work? It's all about glucomannan (also called konjac root fiber) which is a fiber we cannot digest. It has no calories. When the fiber comes in contact with liquids – like those in your stomach -it forms a gel as it absorbs water. Taking 3 grams of glucomannan can absorb as much as 10 oz of water.  This can cause the fiber to expand to up to 200 times its normal size when exposed to liquids.

This, in turn, slows down digestion and improves satiety by triggering the stretch receptors in your stomach into tricking them into thinking you are full. The result is a lower chance of overeating.

Glucomannan Weight Loss Research

Several studies have documented that glucomannan fiber may help:

In one of the best studies, 20 overweight people were given either a placebo or 1000 mg of glucomannan with 8 oz of water twice a day for 8 weeks. People did not change their exercise or eating habits. The results revealed those taking glucomannan lost 5.5 pounds while those taking the placebo gained 1.5 pounds. Those taking the fiber supplement also had a 21 point reduction in LDL bad cholesterol too. To be fair, not all studies show this much weight loss.

For successful weight loss, researchers have used 1000 mg to 3000 mg (1 g to 3 g) of fiber a day for several months. Weight loss results with konjac fiber will vary. Some studies have shown 1 – 2 pounds of weight loss after 2-3 months.

Not all studies have proven glucomannan works. But, there are enough investigations to suggest it may help some people. The key may be related to how much is used. How much is glucomannan is in Lipozene bars?  Each bar has 1500 mg of konjac fiber. This is in line with what some studies have used.

Konjac fiber is nothing new. It was discovered in China in 206 BC.

Lipozene Weight Loss Bar Research

The company has not revealed any research on the weight loss bars themselves. But, they do contain the same amount of konjac fiber as 2 Lipozene capsules.

Is Konjac Fiber Safe?

Konjac (glucomannan) was granted generally recognized as safe (GRAS) status in 1997.  It's also been deemed safe in both Europe and China.

How Do You Use It?

You can use the bars by themselves or take them alongside Lipozene pills. If using both, here are the directions:

Theoretically, this makes sense since you'd be getting more of the digestion-resistant fiber throughout the day. In theory, that might curb appetite for a longer time.

Does It Have Any Stimulants?

The weight loss bars do not contain caffeine or any other stimulants. Rather, they are basically a high-fiber meal replacement bar. This makes it much safer than other weight loss aids.

How Much Konjac Fiber Does It Have?

Each bar contains 1500 mg of glucomannan fiber. This is the key ingredient in the bars. Most weight loss studies use 1-3 grams a day.

Lipozene Bars vs. Weight Loss Shakes

The Lipozene weight-loss shake was a meal replacement shake that contained a variety of vitamins and minerals. The shakes had more protein but less fiber than the weight loss bars. Lipozene shakes had only 3 grams of fiber while the bars contain 8 grams. The shakes did not contain the digestion-resistant konjac fiber that Lipozene pills are so famous for. The weight-loss shake may not be offered anymore.

Lipozene Weight Loss Bar Side Effects

For most people, the weight loss bars are likely safe. Konjac fiber has been deemed generally recognized as safe (GRAS) since 1997. There are a few things to keep in mind when using the product or other konjac fiber-containing supplements or foods. While most studies show no side effects, make sure you consume enough liquids when consuming this type of fiber. A few reports link konjac fiber to choking if the fiber swells in the throat.

Lipozene Weight Loss Bar Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
No stimulants No research on bars could be located
High in fiber More studies on konjac fiber are needed
Not too expensive Not much protein
Convenient to use
Some studies have shown konjac fiber can help

What Do I Suggest?

While the bars are pretty easy to use, two other options include:

Because fiber has no calories, it can be used safely by those doing low-carb/ketogenic diets.

Do Lipozene Weight Loss Bars Work?

The best way to know is to do clinical studies but I'm cautiously optimistic the konjac fiber (glucomannan) in the weight loss bars may curb appetite. This may help some people lose weight although results will vary. Weight management will be greater when also watching the calories you eat and doing some daily exercise.
